    Great stuff, Rob!

    • Rob Staton

      Thanks

  2. cha

RB BJ Emmons signed to the PS, WR Cade Johnson cut.

    • TomLPDX

Cade never had a chance with this sorry organization.

      • Elmer

Agree. Meanwhile they keep WR’s who have had several years to prove they can contribute significantly, and have not done it. That’s loyalty, but not aggressively trying to make the team better.

        • Norman

I’m really curious to hear what WR’s you’re referring to.

  3. Big Mike

Wonderful Rob. Thanks for posting. Seems both if the hosts have reached the same conclusions you and a number if other fans did some time ago.

  4. Call Me AL

OMG, Rob Staton just called out Pete Carroll and John Schneider on ESPN 710 radio for poor roster building, drafting, trades and free agent signings. But he didn’t stop there and followed it up for calling out L.J. Collier, Rashaad Penny, Benson Mayowa, the defensive and offensive lines for poor play. Then Chris Carson for not being able to stay on the field and the icing on the cake, Jamal Adams at a cost of two first round draft picks and an inflated contract. LOL, you have to love it!

Well, if the entire Seahawks organization didn’t know who you were before, they certainly do now! Nice work MR. Staton for saying all the things the rest of the Seattle media were afraid to say!

    • TomLPDX

      Don’t forget Bruce Irvin!

    • RyanL

Yeah, that was really well done. When you strip out all emotion and break it down position by position and year by year of failed roster building and it really isn’t debatable. I hope a lot of folks heard that.

    • Rowdy

All of it is true, but he forgot to mention that we have one of worst qbs in the league over the year as well.

    • Dean SAWYER

I was so waiting for the Jamal Adams trade discussion. Did they ban you from speaking about him….lol

      • Rob Staton

No — but I have been on talking about that before

  5. bmseattle

    Great job, Rob!
I’m always impressed at how smoothly you are able to get in all your main points so succinctly.

We are all rooting for you to get more exposure in the local market here, and appearances like this should help to make that a reality.

    • Rob Staton

      Thank you

  6. KSB

    Well done Rob 👍

I might be stating the obvious? But I think you would have done a better job rebuilding this team, than what we have here now over the last few years.

    Hopefully ownership was listening

    • Rob Staton

      Thanks

  7. Denver Hawker

Laying down some truth! Sounded like Jake and Stacy were agreeing with you and wishing they could be as succinct and eloquent as the way you lay it out. Very nice sir.

If Jake is close to Wilson, I found it curious when he tugged on the trade possibilities. He spoke about as more than speculative. Will be interesting to hear how that conversation develops over the next 7 weeks.

  8. BobbyK

Listened to the whole thing. Great stuff. You speak for many of us. Thank you.

    • Rob Staton

      Thanks Bob!

I was thinking about a random question that I posted on the blog a while back about “what is leadership?”

I have come to the conclusion that leadership is about trust. You become a leader whether you want to be or not if others trust your judgement. If you make good decisions that inform others, and explain your decisions, they will follow you. Failure is the most important part, because we all will do that. When you fail, the most important person to admit that to is yourself. You have to be honest with yourself. I can’t tell you how many times I have screwed up at my job, but I learned from my screw ups, and became a better person and employee.

Now, let’s look at Pete Carroll. It took him only a few years to turn a limp team into a team that went to the SB twice in a row. Damn fine leadership! Brilliant! Pete Carroll is, and always will be a legend in Seattle for bringing the first SB trophy to Seattle.

But that was many years ago. There is a reason Belicheck is widely regarded as an A-hole, but people still want to play for him. There is a reason why Carroll is regarded as a cool guy, and Odell took a pass, even though the Hawks allegedly made the best offer.

Carroll’s failure is his inability to adapt. The game evolved around him, and he stuck with the same old methods without any support. It’s like when samurai walked into a line of musket fire for the first time after a lifetime of training with a sword.

    • Roy Batty

But Pete has celebrity guest DJ’s spinning live music during training camp.

It’s all about the culture, my man.

That’s why he’s been able to get the likes of…zero notable FA’s in 8 years.

Winning glosses over so many ugly truths, right up until that winning stops.

    • Rowdy

Players wanted to play with Brady more then belicheck,

      • KD

Interesting stat: As of writing this, Mac Jones and Pat Mahomes are tied in QB rating.

        • KD

As opposed to Lawrence, Fields and Wilson who are all at or near the bottom of the list.

          • Big Mike

Wilson was at 130, leading the NFL pre-injury

  10. KD

    I detect sarcasm.

    • KD

Sorry, meant for the reply above.

    • Roy Batty

I certainly hope so, otherwise that is a very big WHOOSH.

  11. Malc from PO

I have been working hard prepping for Thanksgiving since I got home from work. I read Pete’s presser today when I finally sat down and just about blew my top. I’m saving this listen for before I go to bed for some soothing perspective! Great to hear you on the local station, Rob.

  12. Peter Jakubisin

This was awesome Rob! Unbelievable to hear one of my favorite sports writers on a home town station.

    Congrats.

    • Rob Staton

      Thanks Peter

  13. Robert Las Vegas

Quick question for you Rob if John Schneider leaves the Seahawks after the season how would you feel if the Seahawks replace him with Jeff Ireland the assistant general manager of the New Orleans Saints his other title is college scouting director for the saints he has been there since 2016 .the saints have drafted well since he has been there.

    • Rob Staton

Not sure. It’s hard to look at his draft record and feel convinced as the Dolphins GM between 08-13.

      • bmseattle

As a Dolphins fan, hard pass on Ireland.
He was awful as the GM there.

  14. EP

That was fantastic Rob. You’ve given a perfect summation of all the problems there. Public speaking is a second talent to your writing. Here’s hoping some of that gets to the people making decisions in Seattle.

    • Rob Staton

      Thanks EP

  15. Big Mike

    Happy Thanksgiving all

    • TomLPDX

Right back at ya, Big Mike!

  16. BobbyK

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. For some of you, it will be a sad day. For others it will be a great day. Regardless of your situation, I wish each of you nothing but the best. Thank you all for being part of this Seahawks community. We may not always see things eye to eye, but we’re generally pretty cordial. Sometimes we vent behind a keyboard (looking at myself) as an escape from our real lives for a few hours each Sunday, but I think we’re all generally good people. So thank you for allowing me to be part of this community and I hope one day we can all give thanks to another era of Seahawks football that we’re excited about (and one that ends with a Super Bowl win).

    • TomLPDX

      Nicely said Bobby! Go Hawks!

  17. Blitzy the Clown

I am grateful for this blog and its community, and of course for our journalist/host Rob.

Your tireless efforts to provide cogent, insightful content about my favorite sport and favorite sports franchise ever, almost on a daily basis, is so appreciated, and I hope you know that.

Your passion for this sport, this team, this blog, the athletes…I hope you never lose it. No matter how dark the long night may get.

May all of us be blessed with gratitude on this Thanksgiving Day, and every day.

    • Rob Staton

      Thank you

    • TomLPDX

My sentiments exactly. Well done Blitzy and I’d like to join in with a big Thank You to Rob as well!

      • Rob Staton

        Thank you

    • Big Mike

Really well said Blitzy. My sentiments as well. The only Seahawks site I go to because Rob tells it like it is. Plus, you’ve made me much smarter and more aware about the draft Rob. Thank you.

      • Rob Staton

        Thank you

      • RugbyLock

Ditto on this! Thanks for all your hard work! We all appreciate it very much!

        • Rob Staton

          Thank you

  18. Paul Cook

You gotta feel bad for Detroit. They are going to stink again, par for the course. But they are also probably going to stink their way to the worst record and #1 pick. Yet no QB warrants that pick this year. Probably Thibodeaux to Detriot.

    • TomLPDX

I was rooting hard for Detroit. I like Campbell and hope ownership in Detroit gives him a chance to succeed. Good for the Bears though…they needed that win as much as we need ours against WFT.

      • Roy Batty

It’s to bad the NFL can’t step in and force a sale by the Fords. That team has been mired in FO ineptitude for decades. For so long people had joked about the Browns, now it’s the Jets, Giants and Texans, all while the Lions are just forgotten about, and for very good reason.

Barry Sanders was something to behold. Same with Megatron. Both retired early.

        It’s a real shame.

        • DriveByPoster

You can add Billy Sims to that list too. The first time I ever ancountered American Football was on an AFRTS broadcast on Long Wave Radio in the early 1980’s. I had no idea what the game was & the signal was fading in & out all the time but it was an interesting sport commentary (take a bow Don Criqui & Bob Trumpy) so I was in! I can’t remember who the Lions were playing but I do remember Billy Sims’ name being called a lot. I’ve had a soft spot for the Lions ever since.

  19. James Cr.

Rob – you were amazing on that 710 broadcast. Hopefully it leads to more appearances in the future.

    • Rob Staton

Thank you — I hope so
