Live: 2020 NFL Draft (first round)

Welcome to the live blog. I’ll be posting thoughts on every pick as they come in.

Join in via the comments section but please — no tipping picks.

#1 Cincinnati — Joe Burrow (QB, LSU)
The obvious pick. The best player in college football in 2019 and the Bengals will hope for better days with their new star.

#2 Washington — Chase Young (DE, Ohio State)
The top two picks were locked in weeks ago. The Redskins will try to mimic the Niners by loading up on defensive linemen.

#3 Detroit — Jeff Okudah (CB, Ohio State)
He’s a terrific talent. The best corner to enter the league since Patrick Peterson. Tall, long, fast, physical.

#4 New York Giants — Andrew Thomas (T, Georgia)
Remember when the media had him going in the late first a few months ago? He’s been a top five pick since day one.

#5 Miami — Tua Tagovailoa (QB, Alabama)
This is a huge gamble. $30m guaranteed for a player who is recovering from a serious hip injury, who you haven’t been able to give a medical to.

#6 LA Chargers — Justin Herbert (QB, Oregon)
Herbert is erratic and far from a sure thing. He’s also athletic, creative and has a strong arm. When you need a QB, Miami and LA are showing you have to take a chance.

#7 Carolina — Derrick Brown (DT, Auburn)
Terrific player. The second or third best in the draft. He can anchor, rush and he was disruptive in every game last season.

#8 Arizona — Isaiah Simmons (LB, Clemson)
He’s a fantastic athlete who will be able to spy Russell Wilson and cover George Kittle, provide pass rush and he can attack from so many angles.

#9 Jacksonville — C.J. Henderson (CB, Florida)
Clearly the teams who were looking to move up aren’t feeling it. The Jaguars needed a corner and this made sense. Henderson is incredibly quick and smooth but he can track the ball better and his tackling is suspect.

#10 Cleveland — Jedrick Wills (T, Alabama)
All the talk was the tackles would go off the board quickly. It took to pick ten for the second to leave the board. The Browns didn’t waste any time picking Wills.

#11 New York Jets — Mekhi Becton (T, Louisville)
The Jets really needed to get a tackle and this made a lot of sense. He’s an incredible athlete but needs to work on his pass sets. It’s surprising to see Tristan Wirfs lasting this long. What’s the story there?

#12 Las Vegas — Henry Ruggs (WR, Alabama)
Ruggs isn’t just about speed. He catches well, he’s better in the red zone than you’d expect and you’ll have to have a plan for him on defense every week.

#13 Tampa Bay (v/SF) — Tristan Wirfs (T, Iowa)
The first trade sees Tampa Bay swap places with the Niners. I don’t think anyone expected Wirfs to last this long. He’s a great fit at right tackle.

#14 San Francisco — Javon Kinlaw (DT, South Carolina)
Kinlaw is a beast. He was a true top-10 talent. The Niners essentially swapped out DeForest Buckner and replaced him with a cheaper — yet potentially superior — player.

#15 Denver — Jerry Jeudy (WR, Alabama)
I’ve said for a long time — Jeudy is ideal for a team with a young quarterback. He’s a terrific route runner and very reliable. This is a smart move to help Drew Lock.

#16 Atlanta — A.J. Terrell (CB, Clemson)
Terrell was a hot name late in the process. He’s a 4.42 runner and he can stick in coverage. He has shorter than ideal arms but he was trending towards the top-20.

#17 Dallas — Ceedee Lamb (WR, Oklahoma)
The Cowboys have big needs on defense and a new hole at center — but clearly they felt the value was too good here. They paid Amari Cooper and now they have Lamb.

#18 Miami — Austin Jackson (T, USC)
They needed to draft a left tackle and that’s what Jackson is. He’s raw and needs time. Yet the potential to be special is very much there.

#19 Las Vegas — Damon Arnette (CB, Ohio State)
Arnette is a quality player. He’s really good. It’s a big surprise and a reach — but he’s talented. He’s so physical and tough but he can cover too. He’s small though and lacks length.

#20 Jacksonville — K’Lavon Chaisson (EDGE, LSU)
I’m really surprised by this. The Jaguars now have two pass rushers who are 255-260lbs (with Josh Allen). His pass rush win percentage is poor. He has injuries. He’s a quality person though and will help improve the locker room.

#21 Philadelphia — Jalen Reagor (WR, TCU)
Reagor is a fantastic player. He’s so explosive and physical. He can get downfield but his terrific lower body power enables him to leap above taller defenders and high-point. Great pick.

#22 Minnesota — Justin Jefferson (WR, LSU)
The Vikings swap Stefon Diggs for Jefferson. He’s mature, consistent, plays above his size to win contested catches and he’s a safe pair of hands.

#23 LA Chargers (v/NE) — Kenneth Murray (LB, Oklahoma)
The Chargers move way up, jumping from #37 up to #23. It only cost them a third rounder. That won’t encourage the Seahawks if they want to move down. If the price to go down 14 spots is a third rounder, that’s not great value. Murray is high character, highly athletic and he packs a punch.

#24 New Orleans — Cesar Ruiz (C, Michigan)
I’m not sure how he fits a year after they selected Erik McCoy and after recently extending Andrus Peat. However, Ruiz is a fantastic player and person. The value here is superb.

#25 San Francisco (v/MIN) — Brandon Aiyuk (WR, Arizona State)
The third trade and it’s a surprise to see the Niners move up, considering how few picks they have in this class. Even so — they lost Emmanuel Sanders and have gone up to make sure they get the receiver they want. Aiyuk is going to be a terror in that offense. His acceleration plus his ability to beat you deep and in space is incredible. This was a good day for the Niners.

#26 Green Bay (v/MIA) — Jordan Love (QB, Utah State)
In my final mock I had Green Bay trade with the Seahawks at #27. Instead, they go a spot further and deal with Miami. They weren’t trying to get above Seattle because they made the move for a QB. The Packers are planning for life after Aaron Rodgers.

#27 Seattle — Jordyn Brooks (LB, Texas Tech)
It’s a stunner. The Seahawks take a linebacker in round one. He’s a 4.54 runner but he didn’t do any of the other tests at the combine. They didn’t go O-line, D-line, running back or receiver. I’m going to need some time to work this out. Is it to replace Mychal Kendricks? Is it planning for life beyond K.J. Wright? And if so, did that really warrant a first round pick a year after they traded up in round three to get Cody Barton? In terms of need, fit and board — I’m struggling to understand the thought process.

#28 Baltimore — Patrick Queen (LB, LSU)
I like Patrick Queen. He’s an ideal fit for the Ravens. He fits their mentality and their approach. The Ravens continue to move forward.

#29 Tennessee — Isaiah Wilson (T, Georgia)
Isaiah Wilson is really good. He was always destined for round one and this is an ideal pick for a team who want to batter opponents with Derrick Henry.

#30 Miami (v/GB) — Noah Igbinoghene (CB, Auburn)
He’s another player who was said to be rising late. The Dolphins already signed Byron Jones so this doesn’t say much for the future of Xavier Howard.

#31 Minnesota (v/SF) — Jeff Gladney (CB, TCU)
Mike Zimmer loves to draft cornerbacks and it’s not a surprise to see one go here.

#32 Kansas City — Clyde Edwards-Helaire (RB, LSU)
Big Clyde is a superstar waiting to happen in this offense. What a pick. Perfect.

    Hooray! Let’s do this!

    and no tipping picks 😉

    • Sea Mode

Wait, what is “tipping picks” if it’s all an internet stream anyways?

Like, when is it ok to start reacting to and talking about a certain team’s pick?

Should Rob/someone post each pick in all caps/bold in the comments signalling it’s ok to discuss it and so each one can kind of be its own discussion topic?

      • Dave O.

        >Wait, what is “tipping picks” if it’s all an internet stream anyways?

Picks announced by Shefter and the like on Twitter before Goodell announces it

        • Sea Mode

Ah, ok. I just thought that since those guys weren’t going to be there live this year, they wouldn’t really be able to tweet it out ahead of the broadcast anyways.

      • KD

Sometimes, the pick is leaked on twitter before the pick is announced by the commissioner. Kind of spoils the surprise

        • charlietheunicorn

Won’t have people watching the green room and phones to get tipped off before it is announced… 🙂

  2. charlietheunicorn

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    • Chris A

      I LOVE YOU ROB

  3. Troy

Are you all ready for an inevitable trade down when an elite talent might still be on the board? Cause you better be!

    • J

When a mediocre product of media hype you mean?

    • Sea Mode

Black Panther clue = we have a trade down in place with the Panthers.

      CAR gets: R1P27
      SEA gets: R2P38 + R3P69

      • Frank

I wondered about that, but seemed too obvious.

      • Ralphy

        That would be ideal!

      • Dinosaw13

        Trading up for isiah simmons.

      • Cameron

I’d be stoked for that trade.

  4. case

Rob – Thank you for another year’s work to connect this community to our team and make us a bit smarter. To echo everyone else, the content has been just that much better. I really appreciate the careful way you balance passion, analysis, level-headedness and an exceptional use of the English language. Thank you for all the time you put in.

  5. Tony

I like the trade downs. It’s become its own meme for the way hawks approach drafts. I love that they trust it and don’t fold to Twitter roars.

  6. Sea Mode

    (re-post)

    Per Breer just now:

Here’s something crazy: I’m starting to hear more about teams looking at running backs, with Miami, Seattle and Kansas City among those in the mix to take a swing on one of the guys in the top group. Would they do it in Round 1? We’ll see. The consensus I’ve gotten has Georgia’s D’Andre Swift as the top guy. But someone whose name keeps coming up is LSU’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire. I’ve had more than a couple guys say they’d turn on the Tigers’ tape to watch someone else, and be drawn to the diminutive but hyper-versatile back’s skill set. One team mentioned him to me as a potentially perfect sidecar to Tom Brady in Tampa. The backs could start coming off the board late in the first, or maybe with these teams dealing back into the top of the second round.

    • BobbyK

Hope we get one of the Big 3 RBs tonight. Taylor, JK, or Clyde.

      • Sea Mode

        Amen. (or tomorrow)

        • BobbyK

No doubt! Then go hard for defense with a WR sprinkled in somewhere (just not the fourth round, any other round for a WR is acceptable).

      • Cameron

Would feel like a missed opportunity to pass on depth of OT, when every other draft, you have to pick in the top 15 to get a quality tackle.

        • Kenny Sloth

          Depth at tackle

          Draft one high

Clue #5 is up: a scene from “The Other Guys”

    https://twitter.com/PeteCarroll/status/1253462508339261442

    • Coleslaw

So they aren’t trading up lmao

    • Volume12

      Hahahahaha! 😂😂

      ‘You drafting a bisexual?’

    • Sea Mode

Dang, this one has me stumped. Ideas from Twitter:

Will Ferrell here and in Zoolander clue. USC? Austin Jackson?

Isaiah Simmons.. (shooting up-trading up for new weapon/black Panther reference/ length-toy story wingspan reference)

Fast lineman in the trenches, 88 inch wingspan, 5.09 40, protection for russ, working two jobs as a basketball player and tackle… going with Alex Taylor

WAIT…. What if the black panther clip means we are trading up to Carolinas pick, which would be #7 , and we could get Isaiah Simmons there. Plus in zoolander, he uses a 2nd look, Isaiah Simmons plays multiple positions, meaning different looks.

Darrell Taylor. 2 jobs. He can play DE and LB similar to Bruce Irving

A little bit of a Gamble…. Darrell Taylor?

A new weapon? (WR/RB) for Wilson

      • Volume12

That Terrence Steele one was a damn good guess. I’ll give dude that.

      • Gohawks5151

Will Ferrell’s nickname is Gator in this movie. Zuniga or Greenard?

        • Kenny Sloth

          Got em

  8. John_s

Looking back through PC’s draft history, Seahawks have drafted a lineman (OL or DL) with one of their first two picks every year. They have drafted an OL + DL with the first two picks twice.

  9. charlietheunicorn

1917 – Run like the wind (Speed to burn)
Toy Story – Always falling forward (Get tough yards)
    Zoolander – M or W (Throwing Star)
Black Panther – The realization/making of a King (Epic Production)
Desk Pop – Don’t think Just Go (Hit the hole hard)

Leads me to think, Jonathan Taylor

  10. Robert R

Just wanted to thank Rob for the blog and all your writing. Also wanted to say keep an eye on Asi asi the Tight End. And finally———Go Hawks!——-

    • Rob Staton

I’m a big fan of Asiasi

  11. Coleslaw

Please don’t say who’s been picked until its announced on TV. This is always a problem. Please dont be that guy.

    • Pickering

And please don’t be the first guy to say ‘I can’t believe JSPC picked X instead of my draft crush’. 🙂

      • aredub

Awe man and I had that que’d up and ready to post 😀 haha

  12. Chuckles

Rob would be awesome to see you do side by side picks. Who you would select whenever the hawks come up and then we can look back how your selections versus the actual picks performed.

Clue #7 is up: Rambo First Blood chase scene

    https://twitter.com/PeteCarroll/status/1253469427837726720

    • Volume12

      Oh. Adam Trautman.

      • dcd2

Nice thought. It also takes place in Oregon, so one of the Duck OL or Breeland, maybe.

    • Volume12

Trautman is the main character other than Rambo.

    • charlietheunicorn

Does whatever it takes to take it to the house…

    • Sea Mode

Trade out of 1st. Being chased into “greenard” pasture. Jon greenard DE/LB Fla Gators. DE’s chase QB

    • Sea Mode

Oooh: Dalton “Rambo” Keene. TE Virginia Tech.

  16. Jace

So excited for tonight! My final mock. Thanks again Rob for all that you do!

Trade down W/ Green Bay for 30, 94
    Trade down W/ Indy for 34, 122, 160
    Trade up W/ Chicago 59 and 122 for 50
    Trade down W Miami 160 to 173 and 227

RD2: 34- RT- Isaiah Wilson- Georgia
I think the Hawks would love to draft Jonathan Taylor or Jalen Reagor, but I see both guys being gone by this point. So I’m going with the guy I started my mocks with and that’s Wilson who is a monster size lineman, just the way Solari likes them. Was a leader on one of the best OL’s in the nation last year.
Alt- Ezra Cleveland, Josh Jones, Austin Jackson

RD 2: 50- DE- Julian Okwara- Notre Dame
A long quick DE that can fill the LEO role. Athletic with some twitch to him. I could see him playing the old Bruce Irvin role.
Alt- Jabari Zuniga, Josh Uche, Curtis Weaver, Darrell Taylor

RD 2: 64- DT- DaVon Hamilton- Ohio St.
His best football could be ahead of him. Stout run defender with great power. One year starter at Ohio St. 6 sacks last year.
Alt- Justin Madubuike, *Raekwon Davis, Jonathon Greenard

RD 3: 94- LB- Willie Gay Jr- Miss. St. Testing numbers very close to B Wags. They need more speed at the LB position.
Alt- *Jordyn Brooks, Troy Dye, Davion Taylor, Malik Harrison

RD 3: 101- WR- Van Jefferson- Florida
One of the best route runners in college football. Sticky hands.
Alt- Bryan Edwards, *Chase Claypool, Devin Duvernay, *Michael Pittman Jr

RD 4: 133- CB- Bryce Hall- Virginia
Would have been one of the top CB’s in the class if it wasn’t for injures.
Alt- Michael Ojemudia, Troy Pride JR, Terrell Burgess, K’von Wallace, Amik Robertson

RD 4: 144- OG- Damien Lewis- LSU
Another grown man to add to the OG competition.
Alt- Shane Lemieux, *John Simpson, Logan Sternberg

RD 5: 173- DT- McTelvin Agim- Arkansas
Agim can get into the backfield with a quick first step. Posted 5 sacks last year.
Alt- Tyler Clark, Trevis Gipson, Benito Jones

RD 6: 214- RB- Michael Warren II- Cinci
His nickname is “The Truck”. Runs tough and kind of remind me of Marshawn.
Alt- Deejay Dallas, Josh Kelley, *Zak Moss

RD 7: 227- WR- James Proche- SMU
They add another receiver, but this time one that can add to special teams either by returning kicks or punts.
Joe Reed, K.J. Osborn, *Antonio Gibson

**** Side note: Sleeper Picks not included AJ Espenesa, Jordan Elliot, Clyde Edwards Helaire, JK Dobbins.

    • Hawkster

GB gives uo #94 to move just 3 spots to 27? 680pts vs 744 pts.

      • Jace

I’m not the best with mocking the trades. Probably should have included a later Hawks pick to balance it out.

    • Producehawk

Your top 4 are chock to my contest entry

      • Jace

        Let’s hope it happens!

  17. veryal

Colts GM on the Pat McAfee show just mentioned Schneider as THE guy to trade with during the draft. says he’s a magician at what he does and was impressed with what he did last year

    • BobbyK

He’s definitely great at maneuvering. Just wish LJ Collier wasn’t part of the equation last year. That’s kind of like drafting a 4th round guy in the 1st round. I’ve been texting with my former student scout this week. He works for the Cowboys now but said the Jets had a “day three” grade on Collier last year. Please, just draft a stud or BPA this year right off the bat – get us a Jonathan Taylor (or JK/Clyde). Maybe with a slight trade down if all three happen to be there at 27.

      • Ralphy

Colts are trading with the Hawks and drafting Jacob Eason.

        • BobbyK

          Fine by me.

      • BobbyK

I can’t remember a draft where I’ve loved three RBs like I do in this one – ALL three with potential chances to be there at 27.

        • Michael Hasslinger

I’d be happy with Dobbins or Akers as well.

  18. MSL

What’s the best place to watch draft coverage?

    • Volume12

Do u not have ESPN or NFLN?

      • charlietheunicorn

        ABC

      • MSL

I have access to both. Just wasn’t sure which did the best coverage.

        • BobbyK

I flip to whichever isn’t on commercial break.

          • charlietheunicorn

            +12

        • Volume12

I mean ABC/ESPN is the same. They have Kiper, Trey Wingo, Michael Irvin, Louis Riddick, etc.

Is that the one w/ Nate Butleson?

        • Sea Mode

Never mind. Looks like it was just the pre-draft coverage and has now cut to a Super Bowl replay.

  21. Volume12

    Well… I Always have fun with ya’ll. Let’s draft!

    • Sea Mode

      Let’s do this!

Also, did you notice in The Other Guys clip he says at the 0:15 mark: “so, we’re gonna dance in Highsmith paperwork?”

      Am I hearing that right?

      • Volume12

        Mmmm🤔

        That’s what I heard.

  22. Greg Haugsven

I love Harry Conick but this is dreadful.

  23. Greg Haugsven

First pick should have been done by 510 dang it. Let’s move this glacier.

    • charlietheunicorn

      “technical difficulties”

    • Sea Mode

    • mishima

      Dayum.

    • LantermanC

      Only 2 screens… and a TV.
J Schneider supposedly knocked down 2 walls so he could have 25 screens up at the same time.

      • Volume12

        Schneidz ain’t f**kn’ around.

        • charlietheunicorn

          He is going for broke!

      • mishima

Yeah, but he’s watching Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy on 2 of those screens.

      • Sea Mode

Maybe I’ll be proved wrong if we get a glance at the feed, but from when I listened to the press conference, when JS said “like 25 screens”, he meant it just as a general way of saying “a lot of screens”. But then Condotta and others took it literally and started writing about it.

But I could be totally wrong. JS did say he is a visual person, but from the pics we’ve seen so far, there are big physical boards just like in the draft room, so I highly doubt he has literally 25 screens.

  30. Coleslaw

Is this the “trade time” for teams on the verge of a trade?

  31. DougM

My wife is watching with me. She says Joe Burrow’s mom needs to hire an interior decorater.

  32. Volume12

Oh god. Why is ‘Booger’ here?

    • Sea Mode

Not sure I’m liking this ESPN/NFLN/EVERYBODY merger

    • Volume12

Booger: The team that pick after the 1st pick will have the 2nd pick

  33. charlietheunicorn

    *shocker*

  34. SoCal12

This is so weird seeing these kids at their home for this like they’re waiting for their report card and not the biggest moment of their life.

  35. Gohawks5151

Laying on a little thick. He’s good enough on talent. Stop pretending he grew up poor.

    • charlietheunicorn

      Hype is real….. production, TBD

  36. Volume12

Won’t happen next year. ‘Sunshine’ will go 1st overall. ’22 it’ll probably be Oregon’s Thibodeaux or USC’s Drake Jackson, but I wish we had a dilemna at the top of the draft.

    • Justin Mullikin

I need to rewatch Remember the Titans now lol

      • Robert Las Vegas

This may sound weird I watch the draft but I turn the sound off and listen to serious radio and listen to Gil Brandt and Pat Kirwin

    • Gohawks5151

Gregory Rousseau from The U!!!! Better than Thib or Jackson IMO

      • Volume12

Rousseau will in all likelihood be a top 3-5 pick next year.

        • Gohawks5151

          Wasn’t he a freshman?

          • Volume12

            Redshirt.

            • Gohawks5151

Ah. Trade our first. We need to get him next year! 😉

              • Volume12

Man, if he doesn’t come out nect year though? Rousseau, Thibs, and Drake in ’22? 🔥

  37. KD

The time between “the pick is in” and the actual announcement is insufferable

  38. charlietheunicorn

Finally, now the real draft starts! Pick #3

  39. mishima

Welp. That’s the last we’ll hear of Joe Burrow.

    • Volume12

Hate to say it. But I kinda think so too.

      • Hawktalker#1

Did you see his expression during the entire process. I think even he knew it was the end of him.

  40. SoCal12

Chase Young could use an interior decorator as well.

  41. Volume12

    That Skins D-line is loaded.

Montez Sweat, Chase Young, Jon Allen, Da’Ron Payne, Tim Settle, Matt Ioannidis. Kerrigan off the edge. Good lord.

    • Greg Haugsven

Glad I’m not in that division. Russ might die.

    • Tony

Means very little if their offense remains a trainwreck.

    • charlietheunicorn

Rivera loves a stacked DL… no if they can get some offensive play makers

    • Cameron

Naturally we have to play them away in 2020…

    • J

Maybe they will trade an Edge now?

  42. Frank

Time for this to get interesting, Gettleman is a wild card.

  43. Cameron

Rob is 3/3 so far (though of course the first 2 were slam dunks). 🙂

    • charlietheunicorn

      Rob is DA MAN 😉

    • Producehawk

      Giants should have traded down

  44. drewdawg11

I’m surprised that the lions didn’t trade down and still get Okudah. Maybe nobody really wanted to move up there, which speaks to the lack of buzz over the QBs.

    • mishima

IMO, draft starts at pick 5.

    • Tony

I’m sure they tried but there was no partner probrably.

  45. Ashish

    OT selection next

    • Hawster

Thinking he suprises and goes Simmons

  46. KD

Screw it! Watch the giants take Tua here lol

    • Ashish

they are not called Giants for reasons

  47. charlietheunicorn

Giants look like they might be trying to work a trade……. thumbs moving fast texting

  48. Volume12

Was Shawn Springs the last corner to go #3 overall?

    • charlietheunicorn

Highest picked corner in last 20 years, so that is probably true.

  49. KD

Alright MIA, do you trust those medical reports?

    • KD

      I guess so

  50. mishima

Thomas family currently winning the drape war.

  51. CojackTX

Rob, you are once again validated with Andrew Thomas being a top-5 pick and the first OT off the board. Probably a guy punch to the Dolphins at 5.

  52. Hawkster

OK, so I’m derailed, had Simmons to NYG. Got that over with

    • mishima

      I have him 10 – 15.

      • Hawkster

Panthers at 7 was my next stop, but that is a common mock.

  53. SoCal12

Rob you’re so spot on with you’re evaluations sometimes. Why I respect ya.

  54. SoCal12

Tua’s house looks the nicest so far.

    • Producehawk

      Family pretty reserved

  55. Ishmael

I think that’s a great pick for the Giants. Reckon Jeremiah et al are dead wrong about Thomas. Fans should be very happy, that’s Barkley and Jones sorted.

    • Henry Taylor

It’s a classic example of people like DJ being terrible at their jobs. Happy for Rob on this one, but it always seemed obvious to me.

      • Ishmael

        Classic post-combine overthink.

  56. bv eburg

So much for us trading with the Redskins, completely blows my draft board. Wait til next year SDB!

  57. Volume12

The right pick for them. IMO.

    • Sea Mode

Keep throwing darts till you hit?

  58. Grand Ridge

Dolphins trying to right the wrong of passing on Brees…hope for the best but seeing glass

  59. MoBo

Dolphins take the risky part and take Tua

    • charlietheunicorn

Now load up with a high quality WR/RB and OT in the first round and you are stacked.

      • MoBo

Austin Jackson at 18 and Swift at 26 my guess

        • charlietheunicorn

          Good nucleus to build around

  60. KD

    Gotta be Herbert here, right?

    • SoCal12

Maybe the fun will start here and we get Love.

    • Matt

Man I don’t know…I think more teams have Love higher.

    • Producehawk

Happy for Herbert but it would have been hard to pass up Simmons or Brown

  61. CojackTX

I’m not usually one for spectacle, but I have to say that the draft seems less exciting without the crowd and players in the green room.

    • mishima

I’m digging it, esp. the pacing. Thought last year’s NashVegas debacle was unwatchable.

  62. TomLPDX

Good for Miami. Let him sit for a year and learn

  63. Sea Mode

We play in Miami this season.

  64. charlietheunicorn

    • KD

      9PM PST…..tomorrow 😉

    • Hawktalker#1

You mean that’s when they trade back.

  65. Ralphy

So DET trades really good DBs for next to nothing and then turns around and blows the #3 pick on a DB. So ridiculous IMO. Get Derrick Brown and make your front four legit.

    • BobbyK

That’s why they’re the Lions. He’s going to be a great player, sure, but they could have had a pair of lockdown CBs.

  66. Volume12

Chargers go w/ Herbert, an OT, or are we in for our 1st surprise?

    • Hawkster

I know Rivera is gone but doesn’t Simmons just seeem like a Carolina Panther?

      • Volume12

He does and doesn’t. He does because he fills a need and Rhule probably wants to be creative enough to get the most out of him.

He doesn’t because they already have Shaq Thompson.

        • mishima

Out on limb: Maybe Murray or Henderson.

      • Volume12

        See what I mean?

  67. K J Smith

Any chance we take a shot with a trade to Carolina at 7 to get Simmons?

  68. Matt

Herbert…San Diego will be on the market for a QB in 2022.

    • Matt

lol – I meant Los Angeles

      • mishima

Might as well have traded for Rosen.

        • Matt

Cheaper option to not get your future QB, for sure.

  69. Greg Haugsven

    Pretty vanilla so far.

  70. TomLPDX

The Chargers are still gonna be just so close…but not quite there.

  71. Ishmael

I just don’t think he’s that good? Good luck to the Chargers I guess

    • Matt

4 year starter in a joke conference that didn’t improve from his Sophomore year. He looks like a 1st year starter who needs time. Oregon coaches clearly didn’t trust him.

  72. charlietheunicorn

Derrick Brown better not slip to the 49ers

    • charlietheunicorn

Maybe Wirfs to Cardinals…… oh ohhhhh

    • Cameron

      DON’T EVEN SAY THAT!

  73. Dinosaw13

    Seahawks trade up for simmons…

    • Producehawk

That would take WAY to much don’t ya think?

      • Cameron

Who knows with Schneider’s negotiating skills.

  74. Denver Hawker

Is this broadcast on delay? They seem to spend a lot of time talking about the player that ends up getting picked.

  75. Frank

Little surprised about Tua over Herbert or Love, but so far an extremely predictable draft. It’s gotta b Brown or Simmons next I’d think.

  76. Hebegbs

Herbert pretty obvious pick for chargers. Here comes Simmons to Car.

  77. charlietheunicorn

    Final 2020 mock draft
#1 Cincinnati — Joe Burrow (QB, LSU)
#2 Washington — Chase Young (EDGE, Ohio State)
#3 Detroit — Jeff Okudah (CB, Ohio State)
#4 New York Giants — Tristan Wirfs (G, Iowa)
    #5 Miami — Andrew Thomas (T, Georgia)
#6 LA Chargers — Justin Herbert (QB, Miami)

Rob, not bads actually…. 5/6 on guys picked

  78. Hebegbs

Love may be moving up or was that it in the run for QB for awhile?

    • charlietheunicorn

#12 and #14 might be QBs… then long wait

  79. Doug

I want that trade for Simmons to happen!

  80. Trevor

Fist time in 20 years I have accurately picked the first 6 picks in the mock we do at work. Need Derrick Brown to Carolina. Come on Panthers!

    • Comfect

7/7. Glad he didn’t fall to SF.

    • Producehawk

      You da man

    • Sea Mode

      Sweet. Coworkers gonna be mind-blown!

      • Trevor

I think the run may end here because I had Meckhi Becton to Arizona before his drug test.

  81. Max Morrison

I sometimes feel that injuries at College level get overstated. At young 20’s these men can recover very quickly. I get that there is always a risk. But from recent memory…. Jaylon Smith/Myles Jack who we’re huge injury risks have taken the league by storm. I struggle to think of an ‘injury’ plagued player to be taken and actually not be healthy. Thoughts??

    • Max Morrison

Simmons still there….. Trade up Seattle!!! A fan can dream!

  82. Michael Hasslinger

Yes. My adopted hometown team picked wisely!!!

  83. KD

Not a whole lot of obvious trade scenarios left if JAX goes with Love

  84. Volume12

Ceedee Lamb, Simmons, or an OT for ‘Zona?

I think CJ Henderson might go to the Jags.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Please not Simmons

      • Volume12

        He’s their type.

      • Hawktalker#1

        Crap. Good pick

    • Trevor

I thought Becton before the drug test thing.

  85. Donovan

At what point do Hawks consider trading up to get Isaiah Simmons?

    • Max Morrison

Pick 27 and their 2x second picks. Go get him!

    • Hawktalker#1

I doubt he will fall far enough to have it be a serious consideration.

    • Justin Mullikin

He would probably have to fall out of top 15. It is so expensive to trade up.

    • Producehawk

Crap not only does the trade up not happen we go against him twice a year

  86. Volume12

Simmons, Bucannon, Reddick. They have a type.

    • Sea Mode

      Yup

  87. WallaSean

Starting to feel really uneasy about who the Cards and 49ers get, I do not want to see Simmons in division games.

    • WallaSean

      ill be drinking vodka soon

  88. Henry Taylor

    Noooooo

  89. Matt

    God dammit…Simmons to the Cards.

If we do our usual first round nonsense…gonna race towards 3rd in the NFC West real quick.

    • Matt

Such a smart move…wait til R2 to get OL – man, this division is so damn tough.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

If high draft picks were all it takes to win a division, then teams like ARI and CLE would be winning Super Bowls. Not saying I’m happy about facing Simmons twice a year, but it’s a team sport.

      • Matt

Take away our QB and look at the rosters in our division. We have to nail this draft because ours is t very good.

        • Scottie

Nonsense. Can you come down off hyperbole mountain for a few hours… the doom and gloom schtick is old.

        • CHawk Talker Eric

No doubt we need to replenish the roster. But just because ARI lands a phenomenal defensive prospect doesn’t mean they’re gonna leapfrog to the top of the division.

  90. Cameron

Interesting, 8 picks in and no trades.

  91. AndrewP

Bummer they’ll play against Simmons, but, really glad Derek Brown is not going to be in the NFC West… One Aaron Donald is enough.

  92. Greg Haugsven

Jets and Browns doing back flips as tackles fall. What now for Jax? Kinlaw?

    • Volume12

      Henderson?

  93. TomLPDX

Damn the Cards! They are gonna be a tough out for years to come.

  94. MoBo

We’ve got to see Simmons two times a season. Ouch

  95. Aaron

    Cards got Simmons…S#&!

    • Producehawk

      No mother&&&@$

  96. KD

NFC West just got a bit tougher

  97. SoCal12

Cardinals always pick my favorite guys. Gotta stop having favorites.

  98. Trevor

Crap! Needed Becton there to the Cards.

  99. Dinosaw13

    Damn… Cards

  100. Coleslaw

The rest of the west always drafts so well… F%#$

  101. pdway

well dammit – – things falling into place pretty nicely for the Cards. They’re like the anti-Rams right now.

Seeing Simmons go to them felt like a fantasy draft where you know the guy ahead of you is gonna take the player you’re hoping they don’t . . .

  102. Cameron

It’s inevitable. Fall in love with a prospect, watch an NFC rival pick them.

    • KD

NFCW is the Warhammer 40k of divisions

      • Comfect

In the grim dark division of the future, there are only top-10 pick defenders.

  103. drewdawg11

Physically ill. Was hoping Simmons left the board sooner. Can’t stand that they got this guy.

  104. charlietheunicorn

Only 1 OL has gone, which is a bit surprising.

Should be a run soon….. real soon

    • KD

      and on WRs

      • Cameron

Can’t let 49ers have their pick of WR’s at 13….

    • charlietheunicorn

      Tristan Wirfs (G, Iowa)
      Jedrick Wills (G, Alabama)
      Mekhi Becton (T, Louisville)

      All still available….

  105. Cameron

Gotta be Wirfs to TB here, right? Most explosive lineman by far, to protect Brady?

    • Cameron

Hey, our first trade! Jags pick is in.

      • Coleslaw

        Jags always had 9

        • Cameron

          You’re right, I’m a derp.

  106. SoCal12

Simmons the best house so far in my living room power ranking, with Tua right underneath.

    • KD

      +1

    • charlietheunicorn

You should do a top 32 for living room power rankings

      • SoCal12

Wonder if the lack of trades is from everyone trying to trade down and not getting good value? Or lack of info causing teams to just play safer and get their guy?

        • SoCal12

          Reply fail

  107. Sea Mode

Wait, Rob, who is reading whom? Or are you two on conference call…?

    Lance Zierlein
    @LanceZierlein
    ·1m

I Simmons is a safety in a backer’s body who is learning to play linebacker. He can rush, cover the slot, has played on the back-end and can run and chase like a mother. He needs to work on recognition of blocking schemes near the line, but he can guard Kittle & spy R. Wilson

  108. Volume12

Here’s the thing with Simmons. He’s gonna have to settle on 1 position before you cash in on his versatility or you’ll end up with a Bucannon or Reddick. 1-2 year wonders.

    • Matt

I disagree. He did that his entire college career. Buchanon and Redding did not. There are a lot of snaps of him doing it all at the highest level.

      • Volume12

He was a rover at Clemson. He got to roam free. The NFL is much more structured and disciplined. Won’t happen.

        • Matt

That’s way oversimplifying what he did. But to each his own.

          • Volume12

That’s exactly what he did though. He’s not a plug and play guy.

            • Matt

You are acting as if they just put him on the field and said “do whatever you want.” Not how it works. And sure, he is not a plug and play – but you don’t draft Simmons as a traditional plug and play guy. That’s like buying a Swiss Army knife to only use it as a bottle opener. If that’s what you want, but a bottle opener.

              • Volume12

That’s my point. Your gonna ask him to play all those different positions year 1 ?!? In the NFL?!? In the SEC of the NFL?

                • Matt

                  “Isaiah, shut down George Kittle.”

                  “Isaiah, spy Russell Wilson.”

                  “Isaiah, destroy McVay’s her sweep.”

That’s 6 critical games for him to be a total weapon.

                  • Volume12

He’s not covering Kittle. Have you seen his movement skills in coverage? He’s a jack of all trades, master of none. What will he hang his hat on?

                  • Matt

Volume12 – then I guess you should be pumped they made a terrible pick of an overrated player. No harm, no foul.

          • Kenny Sloth

He didnt have a complicated job Idk what ur point is?

That role doesnt exist in most base schemes

            • Matt

There is no reason to over complicate things for a player who is 6’4” 240 and runs a 4.39. His job will be to eliminate TEs, pass catching RBs, and mobile QBs. In today’s NFL – that is crazy value to have 1 player fill that role.

    • mike

2nd coming of the honey badger. I think they’ll figure out how to use him, unfortunately.

  109. Tony

Cards were either getting brown or Simmons. We were screwed any way. Id rather keep the elite DT outta the division.

    • WallaSean

Good point, but they have had similar types previously, probably better off not dealing with Brown up the middle for ten years.

  110. Volume12

    There it is.

    #14 Jacksonville — C.J. Henderson (CB, Florida)

    • Producehawk

His Dad looks like he could still play

  112. Michael Hasslinger

Pauline: With Derrick Brown off the board, the Cardinals take the next best defender in Isaiah Simmons. He’s a sensational athlete that impacts as a pass rusher while also possessing the skills to drop 25 yards downfield in coverage. He can do a lot of things, but Arizona best develop a system and position for him as Simmons is not a plug and play defender.

  113. Trevor

Who is the first WR off the board?

    • Coleslaw

      Ruggs to Vegas imo

    • Sea Mode

      Jeudy to Raiders

Then Lamb or Ruggs to San Fran. They might even be able to pull off a small trade down and still get one.

  114. Frank

I’m thinking Wirf to Browns, then Ruggs to the Jets.

    • charlietheunicorn

Good pick imo. Bring some nasty to the OL.

  120. CHawk Talker Eric

  121. Matt

    49ers gonna get Ruggs, huh?

    • Producehawk

      Ceedee? We shall see

    • Sea Mode

I’m wondering if they might prefer Lamb. More of a security blanket and not sure Jimmy G is gonna use Ruggs’ deep speed to the max anyways?

Who they takin’ then? Juedy? Lamb?

      • Greg Haugsven

One of the two. I’ll go Lamb.

      • Sea Mode

        Lamb or trade down.

      • Matt

Neither of those guys scare me. My guess is Wirfs.

    • Volume12

      Trade?

  143. Trevor

Awesome pick for the Raiders. He is going to be a star.

  144. Schism

Hoping SF goes WR here and doesn’t snap up Kinlaw

    • Rob Staton

I don’t want them to trade down and take Taylor. That would be scary.

    • Sea Mode

      Oh, goodness. Please no Kinlaw…

      • Schism

What a nightmare lol, Simmons and Kinlaw twice a year

  145. Justin Mullikin

    49ers taking WR or Wirfs?

  146. Rob4q

First trade coming with the Niners???

    • Big Mike

      naw, WR

  147. Coleslaw

Ruggs on that offense is going to be KILLER. That OL with Ruggs, Waller, Renfrow, Jacobs and the plethora of TEs they have… Carr has everything he needs.

    • Justin Mullikin

But is Carr the guy? I feel bad saying this, I went to the same small High school as him but it is a valid question.

      • Coleslaw

Hes like a Flacco or Eli. He can win it with the right pieces around him. Better than Jimmy G lmao

        • Justin Mullikin

          That is a fair assessment.

  148. SoCal12

    Javon, Ceedee, or Jeudy here?

    • Cameron

Jeudy seems the most Sanders-like. That would be my guess.

      • Big Mike

        ditto

  149. CHawk Talker Eric

I thought LVR were going to draft Jeudy but I’m not surprised it’s Ruggs. I would’ve been surprised if they’d taken Lamb.

  151. charlietheunicorn

    TRADE!

    • Hawkster

      one spot? for real?

      • Cameron

        Block another trade.

      • Grand Ridge

Seems like something Bruce A. would do to just piss off people. Surprised he doesn’t have a cigar

    • KD

SF was probably talking with other teams about Wirfs and TB got caught up in the auction

      • Hawkster

        Ahh, fair enough.

  152. Gohawks5151

Raiders gonna raider. At least he has other skills

  153. Cameron

    Wirfs. Has to be.

  154. Big Mike

    Wirfs
Anyone who knows the draft chart have an idea what TB would give up to move up one spot?

    • Donny Henson

      probably a fourth round pick.

    • charlietheunicorn

Around a mid Round 3 pick

    • Sea Mode

By the chart, late R4-early R5.

      • Sea Mode

But they might have had to do it to fend off offers from other teams.

        • Big Mike

thnx guys. i was thinking 4th

  155. Volume12

    Jeudy or Lamb to Denver?

  156. KD

    1st six pack down 😛

    • Big Mike

      bad ass

    • Coleslaw

Lol I got 3 tallies in and God hungry. Now I’m full of dominos and cant drink anymore 😂😅😭

    • Kenny Sloth

Just got home from work (so so so blessed to be back)

      Catching up quick

“kids, get off the fuc*ing I Pads on my wi-fi, you taking down my systems” ~ Bucs GM

    • Big Mike

    • KD

Imagine missing the pick because some kid was downloading a Fortnite patch

    • Volume12

      Using all muh bandwidth!

  158. Matt

What if SF went Ezra Cleveland? Kinda reminds me of Joe Staley.

    Probably a WR.

    • Sea Mode

      Anything but Kinlaw…

      • Cad

        Ummm… yeah…. about that.

    • charlietheunicorn

They going to try to trade down again, need more 3/4 picks

  159. Sea Mode

    Adam Schefter
    @AdamSchefter
    ·4m

Tampa coming up to SF’s spot for tackle. SF getting 14 and 117 and giving 13 and its last seventh-round pick, per source.

So an early R4 to SF to move down 1 spot.

    • Coleslaw

Well worth it. Wirfs would have been gone if they didnt do it.

    • Big Mike

can’t believe it from TB’s perspective. highly doubt SF was going Wirfs anyway

      • Coleslaw

        Someone else wouldve traded up.

      • mishima

        Somebody was.

        • Big Mike

          OK that makes sense

      • KD

SF basically got a free pick and didn’t have to risk their target

  160. charlietheunicorn

Them Wirfs highlights….. LOL…. at guys he blocked

    • Volume12

Was Greenard? Or did he transfer from L’ville?

    • Comfect

      Kenny Robinson, XFL/WV?

  163. Coleslaw

Looks like the trading up is down for now. Nobody trading up for Jeudy or Lamb in this class and too early for RBs. Too early for the DL. Makes sense. Next trade up is probably for QB, DL or RB. Wildcard CB.

    • Big Mike

      trade up for love?

      • Coleslaw

        Probably the next one yeah

  164. charlietheunicorn

    DOHHHH

    • Volume12

      God dammit.

John Lynch is one helluva GM

      • mishima

        Killing it.

  165. Big Mike

    crap

  166. Producehawk

    Groan

  167. CHawk Talker Eric

JFC SF always with the DL

Also was hoping he’d slip far enough to make a trade up possible, even if still improbable.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Can’t argue with the decision to take him early and tap into the depth of this WR class at 31.

  168. Sea Mode

    Knew it.

  169. Michael Hasslinger

    Shiiiiit

  170. Cameron

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  171. KD

There you have it. First surprise of the evening. Looks like SF is comfortable with WR choices at the end of the first

  172. Trevor

That really sucks Arizona gets Simmons and now SF gets Kinlaw. NFC West is stacked.

    • Producehawk

Damn daddy Kinlaw is a big dude!

  173. Aaron

    49ers got Kinlaw…overrated!

    • Coleslaw

      Wut… Kinlaw is a stud!!!

    • Sea Mode

      Not

    • Kenny Sloth

He’s big hurt, falling like that.

Carolina didnt take him? Something’s wrong

      • Kenny Sloth

Jax* I mix them up a lot

      • mishima

I’ll own it: Thought he would fall.

  174. Denver Hawker

Maybe we need Ruiz now with the Niners stacking the deck again

    • CHawk Talker Eric

He won’t get past Jerrah! at 17

  175. Big Mike

imagine they know they can still get a good WR later (31 or round 2 if they trade down) considering the depth at the position. smart move

    • Volume12

      Clever AF

  176. SoCal12

Living Room Top 5 so far:

    1. Simmons
    2. Kinlaw
    3. Tua
    4. Jeudy
    5. Becton

  177. Sea Mode

Well, let’s hope at least the Rams botch their draft…

    • Volume12

Are they even a part of this years draft?

      • Sea Mode

        Barely…

    • JC3

Rams got nothing to botch this year, just saying.

  178. Ralphy

Trade Buckner and get Kinlaw there. They know there’s no DL at 31 that will be worth it but there will be great WRs there. Smart move once again.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Excellent draft management

I give Lynch a lot of credit. He’s proven himself as a premier GM.

      • JC3

9ers got a brand new Buckner with 20 millions saving, why can’t we do that instead of stockpiling S?

        • CHawk Talker Eric

Straight up, with the same pick (after 1 spot trade down) they got from IND for Buckner. Save a ton of cap space and replace a pro bowl caliber DL with the same for free.

That’s some nice GMing boys [Chief Wiggum’s voice]

  179. Michael Hasslinger

    We need a stout center

  180. Cameron

I hate how happy John Lynch looks right now.

    • STTBM

Well….Seattle was stoked about drafting Mcdowell….look how that one turned out..

  181. STTBM

So…maybe it makes sense, in a year with crap EDGE prospects, for Seattle to load up on offense–OL, RB, WR–and ride Wilson?! Im not happy about that, but adaptability is key….

  182. Sea Mode

Rob, how serious/of what nature were the concerns you heard about on Kinlaw?

    • Kenny Sloth

It looks to me like they were valid. An inexperienced GM desperate to stay relevant after an embarrassing bed shitting in the super bowl

  186. Frank

Wow, this is working out almost exactly how my NFL.com draft mock draft predictions. This is definitely the closest I’ve ever gotten and usually do really well. I missed on Tua, and Becton but that’s because those the Dolphins and Jets are kinda brain dead lol.

    • Kenny Sloth

I had the first seven right.

It’s a testament to Rob’s content and the opinions from the commentors here

    • Justin Mullikin

      Congratulations.

  187. Paul Cook

Come on Hawks. Trade up and get about the last blue chip difference maker in the first round, CeeDee Lamb.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Please not

      • Paul Cook

They won;t do it, but please yes.

  188. Volume12

      • Kenny Sloth

        Terrell?

        • Kenny Sloth

          Yikes I was right.

No wonder they wanted to move

  189. Tim

WOW, Rob! You’ve REALLY nailed the draft order! (as of pick 15)

    Awesome analysis!

    • charlietheunicorn

10/15 guys picked or so…. pretty much in order

  190. WallaSean

Kinlaw will be a problem, but i’m glad the 49ers went defense. Their DL is still downgraded over last season and we know Jimmy G is the weak link, hope they pick a bust at WR later, I hear they can be had in the 4th round.

    • WallaSean

i just wish they didn’t fleece a 4th of the Bucs

    • KD

This. It’s a lateral move that freed up some cap space for SF. He’s a replacement for a proven commodity, so as good as Kinlaw is, it’s not necessarily an upgrade over Buckner.

  191. Hawkcrazy

Kinlaw at rookie contract so much an upgrade over Deforest Buckner. 2 of my favorite players going to NFC West with Simmons to Arizona and Kinlaw to San Fran. Sad day so far. Hope the Hawks add a player near as talented – Taylor or CEH – would act as salve for the hurt I feel.

  192. Nick

Huh… did anyone else catch the ESPN commentator (I missed his name) basically repeating Rob’s take on Simmons and Kinlaw nearly verbatim?

  193. Big Mike

Cowpukes gonna take Ruiz cuz Frederick retired

    • Cameron

Been expecting the same, though hoping for something stupid like Chaisson.

    • Volume12

      Yeah, that one is gross.

      • Kenny Sloth

Dont dislike the player. That’s just not where he shouldve gone. What’s even happening w Dimitroff?

      • Kenny Sloth

Fulton and Diggs there would’ve felt the same though.

    I’ll drink more…that’s it.

    • Kenny Sloth

Meh. It’s gonna take a lot more than that to get me scared about the Cowboys.

      Ditto Tampa Brady

  214. mishima

Jerry put Mike McCarthy in a fish bowl.

  215. leo

The 49ers pick is a bit depressing. Their defensive line was what got them to the Super Bowl last year, and our defensive line is what kept us from the Super Bowl last year. I have a sinking feeling that these are the same issues that will define this upcoming season (assuming there is a season).

    • Derek

Took the words right out of my mouth… Just depressing knowing the guantlet of defenses we have to run in NFC West. Don’t mind then not getting Jeudy, Ruggs, or Lamb though

  216. Hebegbs

Another weapon for Dax after they fixed their D the last few years. Thought it might be Cesar here.

      • Zane

Miami might be the last obstacle for a chance at Taylor, can’t see NO or MIN taking him

  218. Sea Mode

Really surprised they didn’t go for Cesar Ruiz.

    • Rob4q

      Right?!?

    • Cameron

Same. I would have put big money on it (good thing I didn’t).

This pick strikes me as Dez-y.

    • Producehawk

      Everyone getting stronger sigh

      • Paul Cook

Okay…all my wet dreams are gone…how about something exciting or very efficient Hawks…Ruiz, Wilson, Reagor, Taylor, or…?

  219. Big Mike

Need D, need a C, have Cooper, Think it was a poor choice

    • Kenny Sloth

    • UkAlex6674

But it would be ok for us to go wr in R2 even though we have DK and No-E?

        • UkAlex6674

          So?

  221. Schism

Tweet from David Newton about the Panthers picking Brown over Simmons: “The Panthers liked Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons a lot at No. 7 and he was the best pure athlete on the board, but they felt he was a better fit for a veteran team because of his ability to play so many positions. So they went with Auburn DT Derrick Brown.”

Not a great start for the new-look, data driven Panthers lol

    • Kenny Sloth

It was a great pick I loved it. Great fit. Great player. Build from the bottom.

  229. Cameron

Smart moves by MIA. Drafting for the future. Tua and Jackson can sit for a year as needed.

  232. charlietheunicorn

3rd Dolphins pick has to be skill position pick

    • mishima

      Taylor.

  233. Ashish

SDB gang, so how are things so far for hawks?

    • Rob Staton

Pretty good so far. But it’s early.

      • Kenny Sloth

I’d say very good, personally. I think we have to trade down.

Cant believe Delpit is still available. He must have some real question marks

      • Ashish

thanks Rob, I want Taylor so badly hope you are right.

    • KD

PCJS already identified their guy. The big question is all about who is left on the board that another team might covet enough for a trade

  234. Big Mike

Rog switched to a black sweater for the Raiders pick

  235. Kenny Sloth

    :0

    Vegas takin a gamble

  236. charlietheunicorn

Woah, he was listed at #90 on big board

    • Producehawk

      Big reach

  237. Justin Mullikin

Thank you Roger, I needed a laugh.

    • cha

He realized it when he looked down at the card and “with the 19th pick in the…20…20…draft…”

      • Justin Mullikin

That was the best part 😀

  238. KD

    lol wut

    • Producehawk

Al Davis strikes from the grave

  239. Coleslaw

He has the talent for sure. Classic Gruden pick. He’ll get the most out of him. I dig it.

  240. Volume12

    Woah! Arnette at 19?

  241. Coleslaw

Arnette was my CB2 behind Okudah.

  242. TomLPDX

    Nice to see Kiper marginalized

  243. Big Mike

“Las Vegas will host the 20 20 draft”. Good Lord Rog, too early to be drinking since you’re on TV

    • charlietheunicorn

To be fair, it is tough doing live TV… so I’ll give him a pass on that one.
He hasn’t slaughtered too many player names yet.

    • Hawkster

Thought it was me, looked at my sundial, messed with the abacus, was just lost. So they get a 2021 mulligan on this?

      • Big Mike

i even rewound it to make sure i heard it right

  244. Paul Cook

    Wrong place…

Okay…all my wet dreams are gone…how about something exciting or very efficient Hawks…Ruiz, Wilson, Reagor, Taylor, or…?

    • Cameron

Would be thrilled to stay at 27 if it meant Wilson or Reagor.

  245. MoBo

Arnette seems like a huge reach.
But hey, more of our guys still available

    • Coleslaw

Hes gonna be the #1 slot corner in the NFL soon.

  246. KD

It would not be a proper 1st round until Walterfootball hands out his fist O’BRIEN grade:

Las Vegas Raiders: Damon Arnette, CB, Ohio State – O’BRIEN Grade
Ladies and gentlemen, our first O’Brien grade of the night! Damon Arnette is someone I had in the first round of my mock draft in some updates – at No. 32 to Kansas City. Otherwise, he’s been marooned in the second frame. Arnette is certainly talented, but he has off-the-field issues. Given that Mike Mayock values high-character guys, this is a very strange pick that makes no sense outside of need. This is an “F” grade all the way.

    • charlietheunicorn

      he has off-the-field issue

      CLASSIC RAIDERS PICK!

  247. Bruce Smith

This draft is playing perfectly for the Seahawks to trade down. Only 1 name off Rob’s board of 15 names with 7 picks left. Oh Boy!

    • KD

JT, CR, CEH are the only first rounders on the horizontal board left

      • KD

        and Wilson

  248. Donovan

Four of Rob’s RD 1 talents from his Big Board still available: Ruiz, I. Wilson, and the two RB (Taylor and CEH).

Should be at least one available. Will be interesting to see what they do.

I still suspect a trade down out of the first. And, with all the mocks we all practiced, I tend to think it would be the right move.

  249. Paul Cook

On a side note…it’s just unbelievable as much as I know why…how diminished the RB position is in today’s NFL.

  250. Volume12

    Gotta replace Ngakoue .

  251. Bruce Smith

Hopefully Jordan Love lasts until the Seahawks picks which should give us greater leverage in a trade down scenario.

    • Big Mike

agree but watch out for NE

    • Kenny Sloth

“We’ll just sign Jameis or Cam unless you take a lowball”

  252. charlietheunicorn

Entering the danger-zone for RBs being selected.

  253. Paul Cook

Chaisson makes round one after all. Betting on potential.

    • Volume12

Exactly. Has too much of it at a premium position to fall.

  254. KD

    Yaaaaawwwwwn pick

  255. DirtyDoc

Any worries about the Seahawks chances of moving down considering the lack of trades thus far?

    • Rob Staton

      Yes, could be harder.

  256. Cameron

Glad some team feel for Chaisson early, pushing more (and better) prospects down.

    • Cameron

      fell*

  257. SoCal12

Chaisson’s got a Top 3 house. Might be the best next to Simmons.

    • Kenny Sloth

      SoCal very on brand

    • Producehawk

      Best looking women

  258. DC

Pre-planning for shipping out YN before the 2020 season starts?

    • Paul Cook

      True dat…

    • Justin Mullikin

They have too, YN has been very public about this. I just wonder if a deal is already in place for tomorrow.

  259. Volume12

    Gotta be a receiver here

    • Volume12

Looked like Jefferson due to his reaction

      • DC

        He did look pretty excited

      • Volume12

        Or not. Lol

  260. DC

    Mims to Philly?

  261. Hawkster

So NE can take a shot at Love?

    • Big Mike

possible. i suggested as much above

    • charlietheunicorn

      No Love for Love

      • Justin Mullikin

I have given up trying to predict NE picks. Sith Lords do not follow the same rules as the rest of us.

  262. Kenny Sloth

    Jefferson, Mims here

    Maybe Reagor

    • Coleslaw

There was a report they’d take Raegor

      • Kenny Sloth

They also met with Mims 5 times in one week

    • charlietheunicorn

      3rd guy

    • Kenny Sloth

Problem with national outlets (and team sites like this) is they make one vertical board.

If you want to win the mock draft you have to make 64 boards. Very and horizontal for every team

      • Kenny Sloth

Sorry should have said “most fan sites”

    • DC

      BAM!

      • Kenny Sloth

I’m killing it this year. I feel so prepared. Thanks to all of you and Rob

  263. WallaSean

Bullet dodged, one of the players i hoped we would avoid, like Gay, Chinn, Duggar later. Now someone else please take Gross My Toast.

    • Hawktalker#1

I was thinking almost exactly the same thing

  264. Paul Cook

    Is Reagor gone here?

    • Big Mike

      good call

    • KD

DAMMIT! That was my guy. Oh well 😀

  265. KD

I think ESPN already tipped it :/

    • KD

I was wrong. They showed a shot of Jefferson on the phone and thought it was him

  266. chris

brock is furious that chaisson is off the board.

  267. Paul Cook

    Yup. Gone. As thought.

    • Volume12

That’s a very good fit. They needed that type of deep threat. Desperate for it actually.

      • Big Mike

        concur

    • Ben Ft. Worth

Good! Huge LSU fan here. Was not a fan of Chaisson.

      • Kenny Sloth

Please do share your thoughts if you want

  268. Scot04

So far NFC doing very well in draft. Hreat pick for Philly

  269. CHawk Talker Eric

I’m watching the ESPN feed and did I just hear someone say Chaisson is the 2nd best edge in this draft?

    • KD

      yep 😀

    • Kenny Sloth

I think it’s Okwara. NFL blood. Numbers are great. No measurables tho

    • mishima

I think it was Michael Irvin who said that.

  270. Paul Cook

Outside of Wilson, Ruiz, Taylor, Cleveland…someone I’m forgetting…it might be trade down as expected….

    • Hawktalker#1

      Pretty sure it’s happening regardless

  271. Cameron

    There goes my WR crush.

    • KD

      mine too 🙁

  272. Sea Mode

    Watch MIN select Diggs… lol

    • Kenny Sloth

      💀 💀 💀 💀

      Its justin Jefferson eh?

      • Kenny Sloth

I guess they could look at MIms

  273. Greg Haugsven

You get this feeling we are making our pick at 27.

    • Justin Mullikin

Yeah, very little trades. If Love is there we may get a taker. Hard to say.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Nope. Trade coming

  274. Paul Cook

Ohh…I forgot about Jefferson…do you have to take him if he’s there???

  275. Big Mike

Ruiz or one of the RBs or Wilson gonna be there for Seattle. Do they pull the trigger?

    • Kenny Sloth

      Nah

      • Big Mike

i dont think so either but very likely at least one of them is still there……

        • Kenny Sloth

Cant believe the league doesnt want Delpit

      • jopa726

You think that they are still trading down?

    • mishima

IMO, don’t panic and trade down if you can.

  276. Kenny Sloth

    NE moving down. No Love

  277. Greg Haugsven

Are the Patriots going to trade with the Chargers?

    • Kenny Sloth

      Why?

    • Greg Haugsven

Maybe Ezra for the Chargers? Have no idea just guessing t.

      • Kenny Sloth

Oh no its a f***** rb huh please be swift or CEH

      • Rob Staton

        They need a LT

    • mishima

      For Love?

      • Kenny Sloth

        They took Herbert you donkey

        • mishima

          Oh, that’s right.

          🙂

  278. Ben Ft. Worth

Yes they will. And no they shouldn’t. Too much talent on the board to not trade down. You gotta get more picks if possible. You can still get great players in the early 2nd and grab a 4th or 5th.

  279. Big Mike

    where that info from?

  280. Tony

    gotta say.

I’m really enjoying this draft. Less spectacle, more focus on football so far. Liking the look into players homes. Less dress up and guys trying to brand during draft. Plus less bs from media, green room crap and random fan crap. Just football and pick talk.

    • Big Mike

      concur

    • Volume12

      100%

Has a nice flow to it

    • Rob Staton

      Agreed.

  281. WallaSean

really starting to worry about trading back, John is the man, but it takes two..Taylor at 27 is still there, Wilson, Ruiz too but if they are not I feel we would lose a lot of value if we had to pick.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Don’t worry, be happy.

  282. Paul Cook

Did anyone else see that one coming before they could type it?

  283. Scot04

Ugh NE trades back to chargers

  284. Troy

Still no RB off the board, wonder which team will be the first to take a RB?

    • Kenny Sloth

Chargers taking someone NO wanted… CEH?

    • Volume12

Do the Bolts take one here?

      • Kenny Sloth

Cleveland Niang and Jones lookin nice in this range if I’m LAC

        They needed something bad.

  285. Sea Mode

    Nice call on Jefferson, Kenny.

    • Kenny Sloth

Thanks im having a really good year thanks to everyone’s hard work esp Rob and you. And Vol of course 💚💙

  286. SoCal12

Roger’s awkwardness makes this feel like an Eric Andre skit

    • Volume12

      😂😂 deada**

  287. Paul Cook

Okay…what sexy late first round picks are left for us?

    • charlietheunicorn

      Ruiz, CEH, Taylor, Wilson

      Hunt 😉

  288. Scot04

Hope Seattle able to get good value if able to trade back

  289. KD

So if Love goes here, we’re running out of trade bait by the time we get to 27, or we can make a trade at 27, but not far enough back for value compensation if it means sacrificing our (PCJS) #1 target

  290. Sea Mode

Dang, that’s exactly the kind of trade we want. Let’s see.

    Field Yates
    @FieldYates
    ·4m

    Patriots trade: Pick 23.

Chargers trade: Pick 37, Pick 71.

    • Ben Ft. Worth

Yeah but we wouldn’t have got #71. More closer to 90. But exactly right. That’s what we want.

      • charlietheunicorn

Time for JS to work some magics

    • Greg Haugsven

That is exactly the one we wanted.

  291. Hawks4life

wow the chargers really wanted pick 23. NE SCORED

    • Kenny Sloth

Saints were definitely about to draft K****** M*****

  292. CHawk Talker Eric

Damn Patriots make the trade we were looking for.

  293. Paul Cook

    Murray?

  294. HOUSE

Chargers grabbing Murray or Queen here?

  295. Volume12

Ooohh. Man the Bolts have themselves some kind of defense.

    • Rob Staton

Got a great price to move up 14 spots too. Only a third? Wow.

      • Kenny Sloth

People acting like LA got fleeced? What did you think it would take to move up a half round

        • Rob Staton

          It was a bargain!

          • Kenny Sloth

Yeah I’d be slightly disappointed in only getting two picks.

      • Volume12

And we’ve seen what Gus Bradley has done for BWagz and Myles Jack’s career. That might be my favorite pick so far.

        • Ralphy

          What trade chart?

      • Producehawk

Yeah doesn’t look good for the Hawks value of trading down if someone good is at 27 take em

  296. Paul Cook

    Got it. Lucked out.

  297. Producehawk

Feeling pretty good about my house at least lol

    • Big Mike

      🙂

    • KD

Just for a laugh, If I were a 1st round prospect, I would have made a pillow fort with a NO GIRLS ALLOWED sign on the front and just hung out 😀

  298. HOUSE

2 RBs in the next 3 picks… I feel it

  299. CHawk Talker Eric

Nice pick by LAC. Murray is the best traditional LB in the draft. Simmons is a hybrid.

  300. Big Mike

Now guaranteed that one of CEH, Taylor, Ruiz or Wilson will be there at #27

    • Hawktalker#1

      Won’t matter

      • Hawktalker#1

        need them to keep falling

    • Sea Mode

      Or Aiyuk

      • DC

        Or Mims

  301. Sea Mode

    I know it’s over-used in today’s culture, but CRINGE…

    https://twitter.com/DangeRussWilson/status/1253519375836954624

    • Kenny Sloth

For some reason I DESPERATELY NEED a pair of Bose headphones hmmmm

    • Big Mike

we all know RWis a dork but remember his heart is in the right place

    • Producehawk

      Popcorn sounds good though

  302. Kenny Sloth

As overrated as Chaisson is thats how underrated Okwara is

    • charlietheunicorn

      :O

      That is a strong take

  303. Paul Cook

As a Hawk’s fan, I’m feeling severely left out and behind. Again. Maybe we have to take a RB just to make a talent splash. Or Ruiz or Wilson.

It’s day two again for us, though I’m starting to think we will select tonight.

    • Hawktalker#1

Can’t get emotional, need to be smart.

      • Paul Cook

Easy for you to say. 🙂

  304. Ben Ft. Worth

    WOO!!

  305. charlietheunicorn

Fells like CEH to Saints here….. some queasy feeling

    • Sea Mode

Would make a ton of sense to keep him in state and hedge for Kamara.

  306. matt

let’s trade down, need more picks and one of them’ gotta be the Canadian Bulldozer.

  307. Volume12

Kenny don’t tip the pick. 😉

    • Kenny Sloth

      OOOOF I WOULDNT HAVE

    • Kenny Sloth

Quite shocked at the Saints pick.

      • Volume12

        Not a weapon?

        • Kenny Sloth

          An Absolute Weapon!!!

          • Volume12

            Absolute unit!

  308. DC

Are the Colts interested in moving up for Love or will they go all-in with Rivers? Or just wait and see at #34 & #44?

  309. Donovan

Kudos to ESPN for their story on Kenneth Murray and his adopted siblings. Very cool piece. I’m now a fan of his.

    • Hawktalker#1

Same here. I have 2 adopted boys. That is encouraging.

  310. Zane

Miami might be the last obstacle for a chance at Taylor, can’t see NO or MIN taking him

    • jopa726

      Agree..

  311. Hawktalker#1

No cow tipping, draft tipping, or any other kind of tipping.

    • Big Mike

wait a minute, no one said cow tipping wasnt allowed

  312. chris

    i’m starting to get anxious!

  313. charlietheunicorn

DaVon Hamilton might sneak in to first round at this rate.. or Hunt

  314. Greg Haugsven

Still rooting for that trade back to 35 to gain 85 with Detroit.

  315. mishima

Let’s get Miami on the phone: 27 for 39 and 70.

  316. rowlandice

If Miami wants a RB, they might take one at 26. Otherwise, we may just need to get in front of their pick in R2 to get our choice of RB

  317. Paul Cook

Ruiz gone. Getting that musical chairs feeling in a big way now.

    • mishima

Why are you tipping the picks?

  318. CHawk Talker Eric

Surprise but strong pick for NO

    • Volume12

      Very strong

  319. Tony

    damn ruiz gone

  320. Troy

Fuck!!! Saints get a center for the next decade, after getting Unger from us!! Fuck!!!

  321. Sea Mode

    ❤️️ Ruiz

  322. Paul Cook

Big props to Rob about Ruiz.

  323. KD

Certainly a potential SEA target, but if one of those targets had to go first, this is the least damaging.

  324. WallaSean

someone has to be looking at love or a OT, trade back looking better

  325. Aaron

Ruiz gone…NOOOOO!!! He literally went to NO.

  326. TomLPDX

The just got a center last year. WTF!

    • Kenny Sloth

BPA cant ignore someone like that. There arent as many Cs as other positions groups

  327. jujus

I hope we trade with Denver

  328. Kenny Sloth

That was a BPA pick. And what a p he is.

  329. Zane

Great pick for NO, but I never felt he was a realistic target for us, not enough positional value

  330. Big Mike

    aw shit 9ers back in

  331. Hawks4life

    SF trades up…. for who

    • Big Mike

      think schefty’s right, WR

      • Hawks4life

        Bingo

  332. Hawkster

Clevaland, the McKinney then SEA trades to GB cause they want Mims

    • Hawkster

      ooops, SF, ouch

  333. CHawk Talker Eric

    Damn these late R1 trades…

  334. Producehawk

    Niners are killing me

  335. Paul Cook

49ers…back into first round. Is it Aiyuk?

    • Frank

I’ve had them taking CEH and Kinlaw from the beginning of the draft.

  336. Sea Mode

    Rob, here’s the reported plan:

    Albert Breer
    @AlbertBreer
    ·2m

The Saints are taking Michigan C Cesar Ruiz. I’m told the plan is to move last year’s outstanding rookie center, Erik McCoy, over to guard.

Not sexy. But investing in the OL has served New Orleans well.

    • Justin Mullikin

Depends on your definition of sexy lol

  337. Frank

Wow starting to look like Joshua Jones might make it too the Hawks pick🤯.

  338. Richard aka DesertSeahawk

San Francisco trades in front of Seattle. WR

  339. Volume12

    Mims here? Aiyuk?

    • WallaSean

      Just No Taylor

    • Kenny Sloth

      Aiyuk be redundant?

  340. Scot04

    Brandon Aiyuk?

  341. Kenny Sloth

    NONOONONONONONO PLZ NOT JOTAY

    • Sea Mode

The more you say it, the more you know it’s happening… 😢

      • Kenny Sloth

Mims to 9ers Mims to 9ers Mims to 9ers

  342. Sea Mode

    Adam Schefter
    @AdamSchefter
    ·31s

Niners traded picks 31, 117, 176 to Minnesota for 25, per source.

    • Greg Haugsven

Do the Niners have any picks left?

  343. Coleslaw

Wow, 117 and I believe a 6th to go from 31 to 25? Seattle really might pick at 27. If you’re getting a mid 4th to go to 40 why would you trade down?

    • Justin Mullikin

Yeah none of these trades are super enticing to move back.

    • Big Mike

cuz youre JS and you cant help yourself?

  344. Volume12

    9ers are killing it. 🤷‍♂️

    • Sea Mode

      Absolutely smashing it.

Move down one friggin spot and still get Kinlaw, and with the pick they got from that move up to get a stud WR.

      • Paul Cook

Yeah…hate to say it…but they’re getting better than us in the front office.

    • mishima

      2 BAMFs.

  345. Cameron

    Please please please not Aiyuk.

    • Cameron

      I hate this division.

  346. Greg Haugsven

That’s fine for the Niners. They still dont have any picks forever now.

    • Scot04

Don’t need many picks if you land impact players with the ones you use.

    • Michael Hasslinger

Replaced star DT and game changing WR with a high ceiling DT and game changing WR

  347. Paul Cook

They did that just to eff us. I’m getting pissed now. Our rivals are getting talent I like.

    • Scottie

You think SF made a pick just to upset Seahawks fans? Come on, do better. Step back off the ledge.

Why is it every year people get “upset” cause other teams draft players “they” like? The Hawks don’t get 300 picks… they can’t draft every player. Other teams are allowed to draft good talent.

  348. Hawkster

    ooops, SF, ouch

  349. Scot04

My favorite receiver gone. What makes it worse is he goes to th 49rs

  350. chris

at least there was a trade.

  351. Aaron

49ers get another WR in Aiyuk…F&@#!!!

    • Volume12

It’s such a good fit too. SMH

  352. Volume12

Phins would be smart to add a RB here.

  353. Matt

    Dolphins go Taylor??

    • Greg Haugsven

Swift probably fits them better but RB makes sense.

  354. Catharsis50

Niners with two great picks. They’re going to be good again.

  355. DC

It’s not taking much draft capitol to move it this year. Might not get much return trading down.

If we stay at #27, our trend would be to take big boi Wilson.

  356. Ashish

Only possible trade is with Greenbay like Rob had in his last mock

    • Justin Mullikin

      Hopefully [fingers crossed]

    • Hawkster

That would get them 136 and 175 methinks

  357. Paul Cook

Rob was right…WR started slow in the first round, but man did they come on with a vengeance.

  358. charlietheunicorn

Seattle might very well go skill position now… RB or dare I say WR.. if they do not trade back from 27…. hold your water everyone…. wild ride time!

  359. Kenny Sloth

Brandon AiYAC going to the most dangerous blocking scheme in the NFL

    Dynamic pick.

    • Kenny Sloth

1 catch of 20+ last season (scheme QB caveat etc)

  360. Schism

The PFN simulator got me way too excited, there I was thinking Aiyuk would be available at 59 lol

    • Rob Staton

Said all the way through — that was never happening. He is really, really good.

      • Kenny Sloth

Apart from a few real surprises like Arnette what are your thoughts on what we’ll be talking about in War room

      • Scot04

I was hoping he’d make it to 27. No luck

    • mishima

I moved him to my top pick, last night, mid-40s. Fail.

      • Paul Cook

Yeah Rob, you were way out front on Aiyuk. I remember.

  361. KD

I don’t see what SF had done today as much more than two lateral moves. Lost 2 players and replaced them at the same position. Granted, I think those are good picks, and freed up some salary with extended contracts, but these are lateral moves nevertheless until those freed up resources are put to use.

    • Sea Mode

When those “lateral” moves are replacing an all-pro DT and a productive veteran WR with cheap rookies with similar upside, all using basically the picks they got in return for trading them, they win.

  362. chris

get ready for a seahawks twitter meltdown!

  363. Sea Mode

    Lance Zierlein
    @LanceZierlein
    ·29s

Brandon Aiyuk is the ultimate YAC-daddy in this draft.

Another Deebo, but longer and possibly even faster, on the opposite side. I think I’m gonna be sick.

Props to John Lynch. He’s absolutely killed it with both trades and drafting since he’s come in.

  364. Big Mike

if phins dont take him, CEH makes sense in that he would fulfill the role they envisioned for a healthy Prosise

  365. Volume12

Seattle could go in any direction here. If they stand pat.

Have their pick of the litter at RB, only 2 EDGEs gone, some good O-lineman left, Mims is there.

    • Kenny Sloth

      Who wanted Aiyuk? Miami?

What do they do? Mims? OL? Trade?

God forbid someone take JoTay rn

      • Volume12

        Maybe Seattle did? Or B-more?

        • Kenny Sloth

If Seattle did, why wouldn’t you get in Miamis spot

        • Sea Mode

Seattle might have. Even the stupid clues could have pointed to that.

          • Volume12

            Lol.

    • Volume12

      good safeties left as well.

  366. rowlandice

GB will want to jump in front of BAL for Queen. Our usual trade partner.

  367. Coleslaw

With the lack of value for trade downs so far, I’m hoping for Isaiah Wilson or Ezra Cleveland. Or Jonathan Taylor.

  368. chris

    is Miami trying to trade?

    • Volume12

      Seems like it, doesn’t it?

      • Kenny Sloth

        It sure does.

        • Volume12

          There it is

      • DC

TENN wants to jump us for I. Wilson

  369. brad linn

Just awaiting the ‘Seahawks are on the clock’ commercial break! lol

  370. DC

Dang Rob, we might get your boy Isaiah Wilson. You definitely called his name well before anyone. I’d be stoked to add him. ANY RB can run behind him.

  371. Kenny Sloth

Lord Please give us a back to own the future

  372. Greg Haugsven

You would think they go Swift here?

  373. Paul Cook

The 49ers are just clearly better than us now, especially in the front office and coaching. They’re getting better, and we’re not as much. If it wasn’t for RW, I’d be deflated now.

    • UkAlex6674

Yeah I think you’ve mentioned that a few times now 🙂

  374. charlietheunicorn

    Dolphins must be after RB

  375. HOUSE

With the 27th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select…

  376. KD

If MIA does not take I.Wilson here, I predict Wilson to SEA

  377. jopa726

    Miami on the clock.

  378. Scot04

    Miami made our trade

    • jopa726

      Damn

    • TomLPDX

      dangit!

    • LantermanC

yeah, really changed the dynamic of the draft for us… Which GB had tried to trade with us instead…

  379. Greg Haugsven

    Damn it, that’s our trade.

  380. MoBo

    Dang. GB trade with Miami

  381. Magmatizer

Oh snap, GB traded up with MIA.

  382. Coleslaw

Packers trade up. Watch them go I. Wilson to replace Bulaga…

    • Big Mike

      ouch

    • Matt

Wilson doesn’t seem like a GB OL

  383. Ashish

Go figure, there goes our trusted trade partner. We are selecting today?

  384. chris

crap, packers traded ahead of us!

  385. Andrew Monusko

GB makes the deal with Miami.

  386. chris

with the draft the niners have had we can’t afford to miss on this draft.

  387. Volume12

    WTF?!?

  388. Kenny Sloth

They were about to take Swift if Green Bay didnt move in.

They want our RB they want to keep him in Wisconsin.

  389. Albert Butler

I suppose with Cesar Ruiz and Erik McCoy, you could line up with a George Fant sytyle six man line and when you break the huddle you could never be certain who was snapping the ball.

  390. jopa726

    Wow!

  391. Scot04

That hurt our trade value alot

  392. Greg Haugsven

Wow on Jordan to the Packers.

  393. Big Mike

oh my, Erin gonna be PISSED

  394. WallaSean

looks like the pack wouldn’t deal, we must like their guy

    • WallaSean

why would we not make that deal, we must be picking at 27

  395. Paul Cook

Am I going to need shots after this pick?

  396. Donny Henson

Aaron is going to be pissed…

  397. Eburgz

Gimme Taylor, Wilson, Gross Matos, Uche, Claypool if we can’t trade back

  398. Volume12

Same situation Favre found himself in.

    Shocked.

    • Volume12

And they traded up for him too. 😲

  399. Justin Mullikin

How the tables have turned Aaron…

    • KD

Hedging for the future. Nothing wrong with that,

      • Justin Mullikin

Some of my family are GB fans and they have mixed feelings on the end of Farve and the beginning of Rodgers. It just is very interesting he finds himself in the opposite position late in his career.

  410. Paul Cook

  411. Troy

  412. Ben Ft. Worth

Unless!!!!! We already have a better deal in place than the Packers were offering.

  413. chris

if we were gonna pick our guy we would have done it already. we are trying to trade

  473. SoCal12

Who had Brooks in their competition list? You deserve like 12 points.

  474. Rashi

What is funny to me is that this just proves that us arm chair Gms do not know what we talking about. The data they have available to them is something we just don’t have.

    • Volume12

Bingo. They always come out of left field. One reason I don’t do mock drafts. They’re impossible to predict.

  484. charlietheunicorn

    Good news,

Rob had him on his board.. in the 4th round

No way this guy was higher rated than some of these other guys… Wilson at OT for example.

    • jopa726

Yes, he did but, to be fair, Lance Zierlein had as a second round selection. His first is spelled Jordyn not Jordan. It is misspelled a few places.

  485. Hawkcrazy

Just looking at Rob’s spreadsheet at least he was on the list of linebackers. Of course in the 4th round behind a ton of others.

  486. Greg Haugsven

You wonder where that leaves KJ? Or Barton? He isnt really a SAM.

Jordyn Brooks getting R1 consideration? (per Ben Standig of The Athletic) I could see it If you need a pure, aggressive, ILB tackling machine, he could be your guy. But doesn’t offer much in coverage, and I’m pretty sure that will knock him into R2-R3 in today’s NFL.

    Sea Mode says:
    January 1, 2020 at 7:29 pm

Wow. First LB I am really impressed with what he can do. Similar size to Bobby. If we want speed on defense, take a look at this guy:

Clapping my hands. Well done sir.

    • Davido

You have named every eligible player at least once here. Ofc you hit Sea Mode! 😀

The highlight tape is sick though I must admit.

      • Sea Mode

        True.

        • Davido

I think I said this before but you also did an outstanding job this year! You contributed majorly to make this place great.

  489. Jim Valvis

I have never before thought that the coach and GM should be fired. Today I am joining that chorus.

  490. Ben Ft. Worth

    WHAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!??????

Who the fuck is Jordan Brooks!??????

    Schofield, LB?

    MF@#$%%@#!!!!!!!!!!

  491. dcd2

FFS. Why do we do this every year? Talk me off the ledge Rob. I know nothing about this guy.

    • Volume12

For everyone raving about Isaiah Simmons, they have the same thing with this guy in mind. I’d bet on it.

      • Thomas Wells

I respect your opinion a lot v12. Can you expand on that? From my limited knowledge simmons is vastly ahead of brooks in all aspects: level of competition, individual tape, leadership, athleticism, versatility. I would have much rather seen us take a chance on Gay if we were taking a LB. I’m frustrated

        • mike

After shouting my “WTF are you thinking!?” and getting that out of my system, I watched some of his tape. He does have some speed. We do have the top DB coach/whisperer. Maybe Carroll plans on coaching him up in coverage skills to be the do everything playmaker. Right now though, he isn’t good in coverage. Not really a pass rush guy. But he can shoot gaps well and has good discipline more often than not.I think this just says our scheme on defense is gonna be different, or we are in for a disappointing season.

  492. Trevor

There isn’t no way to justify this pick Amanda say it makes sense or is a good pick. I am disgusted. I thought Collier was an awful pick last year and this pick is even worse. Is JS drunk this off season.

  493. Hawkster

If they had traded Wagz two weeks ago for first and a second, then I would like the pick.

  494. SoCal12

You know this makes me wonder about the possibility of a Bobby or KJ trade?

  495. regan

Why cant he play the SAM and replace Wright?

  496. Big Mike

Why do we pick guys 1/2 to 3/4 of a round early all the time?

    • charlietheunicorn

They might have been trying to trade down, but couldn’t get what they wanted.

  497. Ashish

What’s wrong with JS/PC with first round????????

  498. KD

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Isn’t this just typical!?! Everyone now go to the tape and lets figure this out!

  499. Cameron

I tell myself not to do this every year.

But we could have had Wilson. Cleveland. CEH.

I’m so angry. I don’t have any right to be, but I am.

  500. Greg Haugsven

Brooks did have 20 TFL’s last year. He would be a good partner for Bobby if they released KJ. Still not sure what you do with Barton then.

    • Volume12

Same type of reach as Collier and Penny.

      • HawksGal

This exactly! My Buddy asked me why I was pissed before our pick, I state no trade partners left and we are about to blow another first round pick with another reach!!! Ugh….

  501. Kingdome1976

Again….who really knows who we will pick with our first pick? Nobody knows…..nobody.

  502. DC

That whooosh sound was the entire blog deflating…

Can he contribute less in his rookie year than our recent 1st round picks? That would be challenging.

  503. Paul Cook

I’m stunned. I’ve got some investigating to do, but what in the eff do they have in mind for him?

  504. Mike

    hahahahha..

like why do we even follow this team..this guy wouldn’t have been available in the 3rd round??

    • Kenny Sloth

He’s an analytics darling I think. They love big12 defenders huh

      • Volume12

Yup. BIG 12 & SEC in the 1st round. Not a coincidence.

  505. Matt

This is comically bad. “Struggles in pass coverage but is a thumper.”

Do Pete and John know it’s 2020? Guy is also 2 years older than Patrick Queen…horrendous.

    • Matt

I mean…your LBer should be able to rush the passer or excel in coverage. And we took a run defending LB. This is just hilarious.

  506. DavidM2

JORDYN BROOKS, LB, TEXAS TECH No linebacker in the country has more total QB pressures than Brooks, despite rushing the passer only 86 times this year (26th-most). Brooks leads the country’s linebackers with 34 total pressures, including five sacks, four QB hits and 25 more hurries, while he’s also second in the country with 48 total defensive stops. Brooks has allowed just 81 yards in coverage on his 199 snaps in which he’s dropped back, and he’s recorded 39 stops (third) in run defense, proving to be a complete, three-down linebacker in contention for top linebacker in the country by year’s end.
An every-down threat for the Red Raiders, Brooks finished the year as the country’s fifth-highest graded linebacker after earning impressive grades across the board. He was dominant against the run and strong in coverage, but when he did blitz the passer, there was almost no one better at the position. Brooks finished the season with 44 total QB pressures, tying for the national lead with Chris Orr, but Brooks needed 16 fewer pass-rushes to do so. Rounding out his incredible season was his sure tackling and reliable coverage; he missed just 12 of his 121 total attempts on the year and didn’t allow a touchdown or a pass reception longer than 32 into his primary coverage.

    Per PFF

    • Bob Johnston

Thanks – I needed this. (not sarcasm, I really needed this).

    • mike

Well, that is at least interesting and maybe a bright take. We need that lol.Of course Penny was the highest yards after contact RB of his class. Kinda masked the fact he was running through holes big enough to drive a bus through and was breaking through desperate dives from defenders that had no chance of tackling him. Penny aint terrible, but he also wasn’t he best value for that time. I think Brooks is the same. Not bad, but not the best available. And not even a Collier pick where we pick based on biggest need. this isn’t the biggest need or the best available…leaving just a desperate hope that we are all painfully uninformed over the future and plans of the seahawks.

  508. MaxC14

He is a player who probably won’t start right away because of Wagner, they didn’t trade back and only have 6 more picks, and wasn’t even the biggest need, plus resigning Wright, extending Wagner, and trading up for Barton, and he probably still would have been there a round later. What are we doing?!

    I don’t get it.

    I really don’t get it.

Queen & Gay… they’re fast too. They don’t have an injury history. They’re…. better.

    • Henry Taylor

Gay is the one I’m really stunned they didnt take if they were gonna go this way. Seattle’s odd offseason gets even weirder.

This is not helpful Rob. You are the voice of reason. ;D

They don’t have a coherent plan on fixing this team. There literally is no plan…and if this is a plan – it’s a God awful one.

    • Kingdome1976

      Finally an admission of ignorance.

      • Kenny Sloth

        🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑

    • Zane

Brooks’ tape is miles better than Gay’s

    • WallaSean

i like the idea of a hybrid or fast lb, I liked both of those guys as well, or even Chinn or Duggar, just don’t get it, they could have traded back to 60 wtf

    • David Ashton

Respectfully hope you’re wrong. Would never have thought it’d have been a linebacker but let’s hope better than Queen. Easy benchmark.

    • Luca Brasi

Have to assume they couldn’t get a trade, explaining the pick at 27. Two potential partners came up to higher spots, so probably they were SOL. As to the plater, they decided they like Brooks over the others (let’s hope it’s more than grit), maybe for his long term role. And maybe the competitive strategy is to cut KJ to raise EDGE money. After another year or two he replaces Bobby in the middle. I can’t figure anything else that really makes sense. True enough they were very soft against the run, and I thought slow in the LB corps. Hopefully this guy plays super fast, smart and violent.

  511. William C

Lol Patrick Queen going one pick after Brooks is like Okereke going one pick after Barton fml

    • Volume12

Don’t remind me. I had people on here telling me Barton would be a better pro than Okereke. I would pound the table for Okereke.

      • William C

Yup, my dad was a Ute so I asked about Barton when we drafted him, he was like “who?”

    • Davido

It’s purely a matter of fit there. Brooks is much more of a Seahawk LB than Queen is.

      • mishima

And Seattle’s idea of a LB is outdated. Queen, Gay, Uche, etc. all better at almost everything Brooks does. LBs that can’t cover are dead to me.

        • Davido

You might be right but the Seahawks have seen things differently to the rest of the league for years now. Not saying it’s always correct but who knows?
We also don’t really know if he can cover or not. He just didn’t do it a lot in college. He didn’t allow many yards so far.

          • Matt

The roster and team has gotten progressively worse and is bailed out by an elite QB. We need to stop the excuse making for what has become a travesty of roster construction.

        • Kenny Sloth

PFF loved Brooks’ coverage bruh. Git gud

  512. Brazilian Hawk

Truth be told, our LB corps was underwhelming last season, and wasn’t set to improve.

  513. Paul Cook

But even if the guy turns out good, they overpaid in draft capital. How could one think otherwise at this point?

    • dcd2

The problem is valuation. I like Amazon Stock, but I’m not going to pay $5000/share when the going rate is half of that. We seem to do this exact thing every year!

There is a decent chance this dude is there with our #59 pick. There is ZERO chance Taylor or CEH or 2 dozen other guys will be there.

What makes him the guy we couldn’t pass on?

It’s like a guy named Biff convinced John that he’s back from the future with all of the pre-ordained results of a future NFL.

  514. Hawkcrazy

Rob I hope you can pull me out of the hole I am in. Simmons to Arizona, Kinlaw and Ayuk to San Fran we draft Brooks with Wilson, Cleveland, Taylor, CEH and others still on the board. I wouldnt have liked Brooks at pick 101. I didnt like Irwin where we drafted him and thought it was a reach but omg this is a reach stretch then reach.

  515. Aaron

We didn’t go RB, O line, D line, or even WR??? Is this about replacing KJ after 2020 or trading Bobby? Is this just about replacing Kendricks given his legal status up in the air??? I’m okay with a LB at some point in this draft, but not this early. The puzzling offseason gets more puzzling. Are PC and JS past their prime?

  516. Bluenlime

Same reaction we had for collier and penny. Just straight insane. John is soo full of himself and trying to find gems like 2012. Those are 4 straight years of early rounds bursts.

    • Matt

Yep…his hubris is just terrible. Truly setting this team back.

  517. CA

Take a deep breath and stop me if you’ve heard this before: PC and JS
got their guy. They don’t care about what your or the “experts” mocks rank them as.

As always, thank you Rob I’ve been a huge fan for years. Excited for the rest of the draft. We’ll see our pass rushers and other holes filled by the end of the weekend.

    • STTBM

Like Irvin, Harvin, Carpenter, Collier, Michaels, Mcdowell…how many whiffs does it take before rhey get called out?

      • Hawkdawg

Those players were not all whiffs, and the ones that were whiffs were whiffs for different reasons.

I think that the best way to put it is that at the bottom of the first round, our GM/coach get a little too cute sometimes…but I’m not paid the big bucks to evaluate talent, so there’s that.

  518. KD

I’m watching the tape right now vs. Baylor. First impression: great gap discpiline

    • KD

      very good awareness

    • KD

Just watched all of his snaps vs. Baylor and even though he showed some good awareness and gap discipline, he didn’t have much of an impact if any. Watching Oklahoma next, but wtf is going on?

  519. Producehawk

Could have had him at 64. Queen, Uche ? LB @ 27? Maybe I am just stupid.

  520. STTBM

Hubris. They got cute, like Tim Ruskell. Time will tell, but I think they pulled a major boner. And this isnt the first time…

  521. SebA

I’m regretting staying up till 6am for Brooks, I have to say 😂😭

    • UkAlex6674

      Amen to that

      • Kenny Sloth

Sorry guys. It’ll make sense soon.

REST UP BUTTERCUP ITS A LONG WEEKEND

  522. Nathaniel ("Nano") Adam Taggart

great. Another 25 year old rookie that won’t have an impact for 3 years. I’m sure he has a great personality.

  523. drewdawg11

Was telling my buddy chuck last week that Brooks was a demon on the field and I thought he would go round two. He laughed and said no way… I guess I showed him…? Wow. Mims and Taylor and several
Tackles available. No clue what these guys think anymore.

  524. Joe

Man that pick was a reach! Very disappointed. The best rb was still on the board! How about DE?

    • Davido

There are still plenty of options with Dobbins, Taylor, Akers and CEH all still on the board. If they really want to get one they can still make it happen!

      • Joe

        While the 49ers play chest.

  525. DC

To me feels like Collier 2.0

    • Saxon

Why are people so down on Collier? He was an injured rookie who got few snaps. Can we allow our rookies to develop before we right them off at the beginning of their careers?

I still have hope for Collier.

      • Kenny Sloth

        Have you met seahawks fans?

      • Matt

He was a 24 year old rookie with a limited ceiling as a pass rusher. He was inactive the entire season despite Seattle having one of the worst pass rushes in the league. That is horrendous.

  526. Ukhawk

Flummoxed, PCJS continue to genuinely surprise.

  527. Cheese22

We had to be picking for someone else. The fact Baltimore took a LB right after us could mean Baltimore was taking Brooks and somebody wanted to jump ahead of them for Brooks.

    • STTBM

Who care? Baltimore has great Defensive coaches, Seattles are a laughingstock. This is wild…cant wait to watch this unfold…

    • Nathan

Just heard Brock Huard say, one guy who woulda known what this guy could do was Matt Rhule.

Was coaching in big 12 when he was there.

  528. Volume12

Isaiah Wilson in front of Derrick Henry? Printing $ baby.

  529. Nathan M

Is this the first time we get a positive reaction from the bobble heads in the first round? No one calling it a reach.

I think this means we say goodbye to a fan fave veteran…

  530. charlietheunicorn

We are going to work on the trenches early and often….

hum, this rings hollow right now. Maybe they got some tricks up their sleeves still.

    • Tony

I think they were hoping trade back. But I expect a couple lineman in rd 2 and 3.

    • GoHawksDani

      And passrush is a priority.
      PCJS clearly lost their mind

  531. Tony

ok im.trying to get this and starting to wrap.my head around it

Tops in missed tackles last year. Lack of speed on defense. Barton looked awful. So I get it in that sense. Jordyn is a tackling machine. Blazing fast apparently. So I see the fit. Please just hope come November, we’re applauding this. Laughing about how amazing our defense looks.

  532. pdway

I’d take a breath. I don’t claim to know college personnel nearly as well as many of you – but we did need more speed at LB. bobby and KJ aren’t the explosive playmakers they once were. and i didn’t see anything from Barton (limited sample size) that made me think he was a difference maker.

    better re-sign clowney though.

  533. CL

Wow, just woke up… it’s almost 6 AM here… kinda drunk lol… Guess I gotta go back to sleep.

There were a quadrillion of players I liked, still available.. then they picked Brooks… This gotta be a nightmare lol

  534. Paul Cook

OMG. After all this quarantine shyt…after watching all that talent off the board…they serve that pick up for me? Sometimes I think they out think themselves.

  535. Ukhawk

Notes: Bad – Trade value a bit shocking this year. Good: Possibly RB isn’t a worry nor DE ??

  536. Big Mike

And there’s Tenn taking Wilson. Couldnt we have had him and Brooks in round 2?

  537. Rik

I’ve enjoyed this run with the Seahawks, but their draft picks in the first round have been underwhelming for years. I think they’ve lost their way. Draft failure means a slow decline for the team. So many impact players still out there …

    Ugh

  538. Hughz

Everyone needs to chill out. Time will tell if this is a good pick.

  539. Jordan

Wow… Im shocked. Are we going to let go of Wright?? I do not understand this pick.. They must’ve had him in their tier 1 list of guys…. Maybe we have a deal already with Clowney lol… Just not revealing until after draft is done. idk. Wow. The guy who went to BAL right after was projected to be a better player.

  540. Scotia Seahawk

I guess TV didn’t expect he’d go high enough to warrant a home camera.

    • Volume12

That’s the thing though. Seattle DID need more speed startong on the second level. They DID need someone who wouldn’t miss tackles or get pushed around. They DID need a thumper in the most physical division in football. At 27?!? This feels like Collier & Penny all over again.

Can’t wait to hear about what a great STer he is and how some mystery team was gonna pick him if they didn’t.

      • STTBM

…and how hes never injured. Cue the injuries and excuses and Ifedi/Penny Entitlement Issues….

  541. Nate

So full disclosure this is probably a flaming hot take (with a heavy pinch of salt), but has this offseason been anything but an utter disaster for the Seahawks so far?

We didn’t do anything meaningful to improve the pass rush, we’re in a standoff with our best option in Clowney, and now….we spend a 1st round pick on a ILB reach that doesn’t even really address a weak spot since we already have Wagner.

I would’ve even preferred grabbing Taylor in the first than this….at least the dude is a top-20 talent and we could somewhat justify it with the RB injuries.

Continuing to hold out hope and would love for somebody to talk me off the ledge, but right now I’m increasingly failing to see how this team has improved their Super Bowl aspirations compared to last year. If anything, it seems to have taken a step back due to the weaker pass rush.

    • Matt

Complete dumpster fire. They don’t have a coherent plan. It’s really that simple.

      • Eric

Sounds like what people said when Bruce Irvin was picked.

        • Matt

The plan with Bruce Irvin was that they drafted the most explosive speed rusher in the draft when they needed pass rush help.

Here…they draft a run stuffing LBer with an injury history during a pandemic when they can do medical checks like a normal year.

This is apples to potatoes as a comparison. And Bruce turned out to be a very meh pick – so I’m not sure I’d hang my hat on that one.

          • Eric

If a draft is built on first round picks alone, I guess we can give back that Lombardy trophy as well.

Also, I’m pretty sure that was the 2012 draft…and there were a couple other picks that changed the franchise. One pick doesn’t make a team…unless it’s JaMarcus Russell or Ryan Leaf…then yeah…it does.

    • mishima

I have not seen a worse pick from anyone on this site for the past 6 months.

  542. chris

john and pete have gotten stale on draft day. watching san fran moving around and getting good players while we always pick crap players with our high picks makes me sick.

    • Producehawk

I think they just didn’t want the raiders to be the only that had a major reach. I look at the first round and Seattle is the most disappointing by far. Again could have had him much later. I am reading for JS to go to Green Bay.

  543. Albert Butler

From the looks of his profile photo, I’m guessing he won the staring contest at the combine. Great solo tackler with lots of tackles for loss. This is a Ken Norton pick. His stare sorta reminds me of Marvin Haggler. Ken Norton’s father broke Muhammed Ali’s jaw once, knocking him out.

    • CD

Isn’t the Big 12 kind of crap, not sure I trust their stats. Some real shitty teams in there and short pass/pass happy. A feast for a LB.

  544. Greg Haugsven

Brooks is a great player and I dont think it’s a reach but not sure how much we needed him.

  545. KD

My only explanation here is that they consider the MLB position to be so incredibly important that they drafted Bobby Wagner’s eventual replacement now. That’s it. That’s the only reasoning I can come up with.

    • Matt

Then they need to think about trading RW for picks because that screams you are rebuilding. I’m really not joking…if they are drafting Bobby Wagner’s replacement, they have conceded this season, at least.

      • Scottie

        Hahahahaha!

        Good one!

  546. Bruce Smith

On the downside: SF & AZ crushed the first round.

On the upside: “with the 10th pick I the 2021 NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks draft…”

    • Albert Butler

Bobby was looking a little slow at the end of the year. Luke Keuchley retired. Hmmm…

      • CD

Bobby was the most disappointing player for me last year. No impact for the most expensive guy on D.

    • Kenny Sloth

      Stooop

This genuinely made me feel better thanks man

    • Mark Souza

On the upside: “with the 10th pick I the 2021 NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks draft…” Fatso McGee, Place Kicker from Puxsutawney State. Sorry, but I’ve lost faith.

I don’t blame them for getting who they like. I blame them for not knowing where a guy will go. They could have traded back, picked three other guys and still had Brooks.

  547. Coleslaw

Let your best DL walk, spend all your cap space on depth and role players who wont be here in 2 years, and draft a redundant position in round 1.

I’m not saying fire them, but if this doesnt work out…. I’m starting to lose faith.

  548. SeanMatt

Fire Pete Carroll. We are waisting Russel Wilson under this regimes incompetence. This team is going nowhere under Pete. Enjoy the decline, Pete stans.

    • Kenny Sloth

He hasnt even played for us yet! Cody Barton might not last though

      • Justaguy

Can we trade Barton or Brooks for a 2nd round pick?

    • lil’stink

This reads like a Trump tweet. Just dripping with wisdom and insight.

  549. Eric

Sounds like a Kam Chancellor replacement to me…

    • Volume12

      Interesting 🤔

      That would make sense.

      • Justaguy

If it was Bam Bam it would make sense.

  550. Kenny Sloth

What a strange blend of analytics and old-school mentality.

This says a lot about Cody Barton

Draft gets really thin at LB and we DEFINITELY weren’t thumping the table for Brooks. We missed something. Its our fault.

    They wanted to trade back.

Cant get medicals. They want sturdy guy with great analytics grade. I havent seen the tape. I wont lie.

Decent fourty. We rely too much on combine numbers to thin the herd of targets I think. We need to be better next year.

Brooks needs to find the field. Maybe this says something about how they view the rest of the class. And perhaps how they view their talks with Clowney.

They can wait on edge, WR, DT, RB. Couldn’t wait for an LB. There’s no-one past top of round two. Especially if you aren’t looking at medical flags or character question marks in a year when you have less time than ever with a prospect.

We talk about “only 15 first round grades” a lot, but we dont talk about what that means and the implications therein, whereby one could make the case that a fringe second rounder could go in the late first if you had similar grades on multiple players and struck others off because of red flags.

It actually reminds me of what Green Bay did

Couple that with the tapering off of talent at the position group and the relative depth of other needs (needs that they may value differently from us, based on knowledge of in-house talent and deals in the works, etc. etc) and you can see the case for having to take your favorite LB at 27 if you cant get enough value to move back. Especially with GMs wary of getting fleeced and lowballing yoy. Everyone wants to move back right now.

    • Rob4q

Great take Kenny, thanks for writing that.

      • Kenny Sloth

Everyone’s tired. It’s 6am for some people on here. I took a triple shot and wanted to put out some blue and green fires.

  551. Paul Cook

There are so many reasons why this pick was a poor one.

    a) Could have had him later
    b) If we were going to reach, how about the OL or DL
    c) Could have had a greater talent at this point in say…Taylor, Delprit, Cleveland, Wilson
    d) My head hurts

  552. HOUSE

    First thoughts…

    1. What the heck happened?I had this guy going in the mid-3rd rd.
    2. Are we really changing how we play defense? I know we are a 4-3, but could this be some type of shift?
    3. Did we really just draft a Bobby Wagner clone?
    4. The kid is a tackling machine and gets into the backfield. What can we do to keep him on the field for more than a play at a time?
    5. Why does he suck in coverage?
    6. Did we really draft a Mychal Kendrick replacement when several other needs could’ve been addressed first?

  553. Donovan

    I’m bummmmmmmmed.

Only bright side? Maybe plan is to cut KJ and use savings to sign Clowney & Griffen.

Other than that, I got nothing.

    • Kenny Sloth

      Its a long offseason

    • Albert Butler

How much would they save by cutting Bobby?

      • Matt

They would save about -$22M – makes no sense to cut Bobby.

        • Albert Butler

Yes, well, there’s always more to the story with Schneider.

          • Matt

Well, his “more to the story” has been terrible the last few years…so, I mean…I don’t know.

    • CD

Clowney doesn’t want to be here, he would have sign if so as the Hawks offered the most. He either doesn’t believe in Pete, or the team. After this pick, I couldn’t blame him.

      • Michael Hasslinger

Seattle may cut KJ and Britt tomorrow and win the Clowney bid. All DE DT we want are still out there

  554. Mark Souza

Who had this in their mock? Anyone? Anyone? I laugh every year when befuddled draftniks around the country pair the Hawks with the like of Punxsutawney Phil every year because they can’t figure us out. But they’re right, just throw a dart and pair us with any schmo still on the draft board. We live here and we can’t figure the draft out. Now we have to overpay a linebacker we could have gotten in later rounds to ride the pine behind BWags for a few years. Brilliant. And our pass rush? Unchanged. And before someone argues about how he rushes the QB, this is Seattle. We almost never send LBs. Head shakes. So who will they reach for tomorrow?

    • Davido

I think it’s really hard to predict such a player if he doesn’t perform at the combine.
Maybe this guy is the fastest short shuttle guy on the planet 😀

  555. Justaguy

There is no reasonable explanation for this. Trash pick on a trash player. Not sure there is much hope of turning this draft around but it will be interesting to watch.

  556. Kenny Sloth

We did a bad job not the seahawks.

    • Sea Mode

      tbd

    • STTBM

Bullcrap. Seattle got cute again. Remember hoe furiously many defended Mcdowell, Michaels, Collier, Irvin, Ifedi, the traded picks etc? All were failures, large or small…par for the course.

  557. Dc

This off-season feels like the beginning of the end for PCJS. We can’t even maintain the mediocre roster from last year and the Nfcw is getting alot better. The only way this makes sense is if the trade Bobby which I would hate.

    • Aaron

Their contracts both end after the 2021 season. But I do agree I think they’re on their way out. Just gonna rest on their laurels this year and next, coasting on past victories. Really down on PCJS right now.

  558. Henry Taylor

Is it possible they plan to cut KJ to facilitate a DE signing?

    • LLLOGOSSS

      Very.

  559. Volume12

His production is incredible. I’ll say that. He makes a ton of plays begind the LOS. This has to be their SAM.

    • Kenny Sloth

      He’s a numbers HOG

Bet he has high character and was healthy.

Zero question marks in a crazy offseason
He’s gonna eat up the playbook and start week 1

      • Matt

He has an extensive injury history.

        • Kenny Sloth

He played in 46 games in colleges would please not waste my valuable time by lying to my face to fit your narrative?

          • Matt

He’s had 2 shoulder surgeries you dipshit. He couldn’t finish last season or participate in the Senior Bowl because of it.

            • Kenny Sloth

But he’s played in 46 games.

              Don’t call me names, yo.

DK had a surgery and he sucks ur smart. I’m a dipshit. You win

        • Kenny Sloth

THATS MY LB. DONT TELL A LIE ON HIM PLZ

      • Volume12

Bruh, he has some crazy instincts

We thought a SAM was a possibility. Just didn’t look enough at off ball guys.

  560. JC3

Wait, is that C.J. Prosise re-enter the draft again because he could not get any offers in FA market?

  561. Volume12

I love that pick for Minnesota.

    • Sea Mode

Your guy! A classic Zimmer pick, IMO.

      • Volume12

        It is.

  562. Adam Stranberg

You guys are freaking jokes. “It’s been a fun ride following the Seahawks….” and “Fire Pete,” because you don’t understand why they drafted Brooks.

    Over-reaction much?

  563. Misfit74

Emory Hunt: “Jordyn Brooks was my #2 ILB; Every time you watch Texas Tech play, you saw him make play after play. He takes outstanding angles to the ball carrier, and has the type of anticipation that frustrates ball carrier, because he tends to beat you to the spot”

    • Lil’stink

No no no! You’re only supposed to focus on the negative right now.

  564. Davido

Does anyone remember the talk there was about the Seahawks and changing their scheme or something concerning all the linebackers?
I think this might be the topic of the offseason. They surely have a plan behind all this. They talked about it with Kendricks last year a lot. Now they continue focusing LB with their draft choices and handed contracts to Bobby and KJ while dealing Clark. To me the entire picture is not clear yet but I believe there must be something behind all this.

    • STTBM

Yeah, Ken Norton is a derp tater….

  565. Denver Hawker

Have to be playing the long game with their R1 picks. Brooks to redshirt. Just don’t see how they are afforded the luxury to redshirt R1 picks.

  566. Albert Butler

According to overthecap.com, cutting Bobby Wagner would save the team $22 Million and add $7.25 Million in dead money. FWIW.

    • Volume12

I think you want BWagz there to take him under his wing. I’m convinced he’s their SAM. A more physical Kendricks.

      • Kenny Sloth

        Kid can blitz.

There’s only 2 edge off the board.

        Only 2 DT right?

The board fell so nice for us

        • Sea Mode

Yeah, today was about OL and WR.

Tomorrow we will see runs on RB and DL, and we don’t pick till the end of R2.

          • Kenny Sloth

Got ammo to trade up, dont need 12 guys.

    • Sea Mode

      That’s after the 2020 season.

      • Albert Butler

Great point. Still, they might be thinking cut or trade.

  567. Paul Cook

One question: How do you explain picking Brooks in the FIRST ROUND?

    • Big Mike

PCJS drinking more than you? 🙂

    • J

He is as much of a first round talent as anybody else going in the last five picks.

Question the position all you want but not the player.

    • Bluenlime

It has to be the Covid

  568. bv eburg

Slow in coverage…..SF and Arizona must love this pick for us.
Are they throwing in the towel on the two LB’s they picked last year? If so what changed in there scouting that makes them think they are more adept at picking one this year?

  569. Aaron

That’s a lotta dough. Bobby wasn’t the same player last year, he’s slowing down. KJ is also slow now and so is Kendricks.

  570. Pran

That’s why we trade down folks. Better take more shots in the mid rounds. Don’t ever ask again to trade up or stay out.

    • Pran

      ..stay put (not out)

    • God of Thunder

      I’m sure they tried.

  571. DC

I did a very un-thorough check of the submitted mocks & not only did no one pick Jordyn Brooks to the Seahawks in the 1st round, I didn’t see him to the Seahawks on anyone’s card in any round…

    • dcd2

Almost as shocking as the pick itself. Good news is, I’m tied for 1st! Bad news is, I’m tied for last.

  572. Volume12

What a god damn pick for KC!

    • Volume12

This is why they’re the World champs.

    • DC

Yup. CEH will kill it for them.
Sure glad we gave them Clark. That’s really panned out well for us.

      • bv eburg

Easily see a SB rematch of KC-SF

  573. Big Mike

And KC gets CEH. Of course they do.

  574. KD

I watched his performance vs. Baylor and all he showed what the he is patient in gaps with good awareness. Only impact play he made in that game was one goal-line tackle. Half way through the game vs, Oklahoma, and I have not seen any impact so far.

    • Big Mike

      how utterly encouraging

      • KD

First impact play I saw from him was with 7:05 left in the 3rd Q when TT was already getting btfo’d. He forced Hurts to throw out of bounds

  575. Mark Souza

    • J

Because Mel Kiper said so, right?

      • dcd2

Come on. NO ONE had this dude in the 1st round. If you can find ANY mock, no matter how obscure with him in the 1st, I’d love to see it.

    • John_s

And how do you know this? The pick right after them was a LB

  576. Sea Mode

Of course. The rich get richer.

  577. Hawkcrazy

CEH is going to be absolutely dynamic in KC. Another weapon he is going to be crazy.

  578. Paul Cook

And then CEH goes to the SB champs. I quit for the night.

  579. Dawgma

I’m suddenly nostalgic for when we traded back and got an extra third before throwing away the first pick of the year.

  580. Joe

I guess as Seahawks fan I can take some comfort imagine being a Packer fan…lol

  581. Producehawk

Just let the simulator run four times. It picked out 27th pick at 48, 65, 66 and 78. Didn’t make me feel any better about the pick.

  582. Ukhawk

Prediction. Seahawks turn tables, trade up in second for very little draft capital on Day 2

  583. Paul Cook

This is why I didn’t participate in the draft competition. I KNEW I’d be wrong.

  584. Kenny Sloth

Some y’all cant see past the first frame, but i get it we’re tired and we know as a collective we failed.

Didnt even have him on the board.

    It’s a long draft guys

  585. Big Mike

was Earl that last good 1st rounder the Hawks have drafted? (no, not Irvin)

    • Volume12

In the 1st? Yeah. 1st overall? No. Frankie is a god damn stud. Shouldn’t of traded him. Hated it then, hate it even more now.

  586. Volume12

Have you guys seen the D-lineman left? Holy s**t!

    Raekwon Davis
    Ross Blacklock
    Josh Uche
    Jabari Zuniga
    Darrell Taylor
    Davon Hamilton
    Bradlee Anae
    Jon Greenard
    Julian Okwara
    YGM
    Marlon Davidson

    • Big Mike

so that must mean we’ll take a corner next

      • Volume12

Lol. Fair point. They attack needs much more on day 2.

        • mishima

          You forgot my nightmare: Weaver.

          #destiny

  587. mishima

Ravens take Queen, Niners take Kinlaw/Aiyuk, Chiefs take CEH.

    There’s a reason they’re good.

  588. STTBM

This is Carrol propping up his weak link, Norton. Giving Norton his guy, just like giving Cable Ifedi. Im done with Norton, I dont think hes got the brains to be a good DC, and this makes it worse, but time will tell, and Im rooting for them both. Sigh…

  589. jopa726

    Booooooo Booooo Booooo Boooooo

P.S. just getting warmed up for tomorrow

  590. Adam Stranberg

Maybe the plan is to play weak LB this year, then replace Wagner next year, saving 16M in cap space next year and use that to sign Clowney to a big extension?

    • Rob Staton

They are not planning to move Bobby. Pete constantly talks about RW and BW being the main men.

  591. Big Mike

so that must mean we’ll take a corner next

  592. Paul Cook

Bottom line…PCJS get too clever for themselves early in the draft. Not always, but too much of the time.

    • mishima

Or, they’re not clever at all.

  593. Ttw206

    NFL.com on Brooks
Brooks became a big name among NFL scouts in 2019, garnering second-team Associated Press All-American and first-team All-Big 12 honors by again leading the Raiders with 108 tackles, 20 for loss (ranking in the top 10 nationally), and three sacks in just 11 starts. He missed time with a shoulder injury during the season.

    20 TFL’s is impressive….. still SHOCKED

  594. Davido

Rob you did an amazing job with some of your predictions!
You completely nailed CEH, the OLine and WR group.
Year after year you impress me again.

    • Producehawk

Rob can’t help it if the Seahawks reach for a position of non need

  595. J

He is a WIL which means bye bye KJ. Wright looked awfully slow coming back from injury last year and cutting him frees up money.

  596. Big Mike

    SIGH SIGH SIGH

  597. Kenny Sloth

    That’s MY LB

    Y’all can cry. ❄

    • CaptainJack

I like him too, Kenny. Fast, smart, high motor. Perfect fit in our defense and culture. Barton ain’t it. And most of last season we were complaining about how much we hated Kendricks.

  598. Sea Mode

They wanted Aiyuk. The 9ers stole him and now we have to face him twice a year.

    Ugh.

    • Kenny Sloth

      Big true.

    • CaptainJack

Do you have any evidence that they were planning on drafting Aiyuk if he was there? If they wanted to take a receiver Mims would have been a decent consolation prize for Aiyuk. Instead they go a completely different direction. I don’t buy that san fran “stole” Aiyuk from seattle. Pete isn’t about to draft a sub 6 foot wide out who runs a 4.5 in the first. That just isn’t his style.

    • Paul Cook

Like I said before, they effed us. They’re ahead of us tactically now. It’s starting to look way ahead of us now. Very sad for me to say.

      • CaptainJack

Do you have a shred of evidence we wanted Aiyuk? A short slow wide out in round one? Would make zero sense based off of our recent draft history.

        • Paul Cook

It doesn’t matter if we wanted Aiyuk or not. They knew who they wanted and why and did not take any chances of not getting it done and did not over pay. They played the game to win and di not let us get who they wanted who very well might not have been there.

You can’t say that about our pick and the way we played it in round one.

        • Sea Mode

          “A short, slow wideout”

Worst take I’ve heard in a while. Have you watched him at all? The 40 time is not everything. He’s extremely explosive. Do you think Deebo is slow too? They just got another one like him.

          Deebo: 5112, 214, 4.48 40yd, 1.60 10yd split, 39 vert
          Aiyuk: 5115, 205, 4.50 40yd, 1.52 10yd split, 40 vert

          • CaptainJack

It’s easy to look good against Pac 12 defensive backs. That league has gone charmin soft.

            • Kenny Sloth

              You’re not wrong

    • Jace

I respect you a ton Sea Mode for your comments in here. But I am also confused why you are so convinced they wanted Aiyuk?

  599. CaptainJack

Just got out of my meeting. Well, I called this. A player that will piss most of the fan base off. It was clear as day. Just not at the position I thought. When I saw who it was a laughed with joy, I like the pick, and I love that it’s going to tick so many people off.

Brooks, by all accounts, is a good player. High character, highly motivated, chip on his shoulder, overlooked, athletic, physical, lots of tackles, got better every year etc etc etc. It is a classic PCJS pick. No doubt about that.

What about positional value? This spells out several things. 1. They must have thought Baltimore, who took Queen a pick later, were also eyeing Brooks. and 2. They must not have much faith in Cody and BBK to pick up the slack as Wagner and Wright get older. Also Mychal Kendricks might not be returning. The truth is in the NFL you are never completely set at a position, there are always questions marks, and room for a talented hardworking young guy to come in and make his mark. 3. They like Brandon Shell much more than we do. 4. They must see the health of Penny and Carson to not be MAJOR concerns although they could very well take a back with their next pick. 5. As we expected, neither Gross-Matos or Epenesa really appealed to a lot of front offices as a first round selection, despite the “opinions” offered on seahawks twitter.

Overall, It’s a pick that could pay dividends down the road.

I just saw KC got Clyde. Oh my, that offense is going to be SOMETHING next year.

    • Paul Cook

We overpaid. If nothing else, that.

      • Kenny Sloth

        We couldn’t trade down*

        9ers beat us to Aiyuk*

        • CaptainJack

Aiyuk for me had a lot of red flags. Not a ton of pac 12 receivers make it in the league, because pac 12 DB play is so soft these days. It’s a wake up call for guys like Jaelon Strong, JJ Arcega Whitesite, John Ross, N’Keal Harry, Dante Pettis etc to have to consistently face NFL dbs.

          • Paul Cook

How about naming the PAC12 receivers who have made it?

            • CaptainJack

I can’t think of any recent ones. Tight ends? Hell yes. Don’t know how to resolve that.

      • CaptainJack

Well, it seemed that way. Brooks was rated as a second rounder. We took him late first. Maybe the Ravens who took Queen were eyeing him. He’s a good player.

    • CD

Can we quit making it sound like this is the only high character, motivated guy. I bet 25-40% are. Maybe more. Hell, these guys all should be. It’s not that unique. We should be targetting more talent, freaks early.

      • Kenny Sloth

He ticked a lot of boxes. There’s levels to this.

      • CaptainJack

Who did we pass on that was a “freak”? It’s not like we passed on Isaiah Simmons.

    • Producehawk

Thanks Captain Jack. I only feel half deflated now. Yikes! I hope Russ survives this year! I feel sorry for him.

    • Pran

Listen peeps.. we got a ton of OL and LBs. Pete is on to something…Brooks can cover CEH in SB against KC!

  600. Paul Cook

Rob got the draft great this year. The number of WR’s. Isaiah Wilson. Ruiz. Was early to the Burrow party. Other things.

I can’t believe he’d be any less disappointed than me with tonight.

  601. mishima

Good times / Thanks everyone / Until tomorrow.

    • Kenny Sloth

Take it easy mishima!! Dont let John Schneider get you

  602. Robert Las Vegas

You who really impressed me the Titans last year it was Jeffrey Simmons and this year Isiah Wilson outstanding

  603. pdway

Our LB’s were underwhelming all year last year – we all love Bobby – but he’s not the same player he used to be in terms of spped/playmaking. We’re slow at the position – period. And while I can’t make a call on whether Queen was a better pick – I like the idea of adding speed/talent to the position group.

To those who are so certain we could have had him later? You never know. Got to have some trust there.

Big addtl point though – – really hope that we make the Clowney re-signing happen now . ..

    • CD

The Clowney signing isn’t down to us. It’s in his hands and even though we have offered the most, he hasn’t accepted. I don’t think he wants to be here, even if over paying him compared to other offers.

  604. Sea Mode

How long till the presser? I need some explanation.

    • BobbyK

They won’t give you an explanation. Not a good one. They’ll just keep riding the coattails of drafting a franchise QB in the 3rd round until they eventually get fired.

      • BobbyK

Unfortunately, the said franchise QB is so good – you can be a moron and still keep your job by continuing the tradition of drafting horrible first rounders…

Lets make something clear… before I criticize first rounders… the Earl Thomas pick was provided by Tim Ruskell… AND this Brooks pick was at the expense of Jonathan Taylor (or Logan Wilson). That’s just a fact.

      • STTBM

But until then theyll grin like the Cheshire Cat acting all pleased with themselves, until their boy flames out…then theyll prop him up, insisting hes getting better every year….till they allow him to leave for a league minimum contract in year five…

  605. Frank

Someone said it earlier, but this feels like a shift to a different type of defense. Clearly they think Brooks can be a weapon rushing the QB, and maybe the groundwork was laid out for a shift to true 3-4 personal, even in a 4-3 under. I’m seeing him as being the Bruce Irvin role, and luckily have the man himself to study under for a year. It would also make the choice to not resign Clowney and why they seem to still have high hopes for LJ make a little more sense.

  606. drewdawg11

I’m sorry… why are you talking about cutting Bobby? Clearly they can play brooks at OLB.

    • Michael Hasslinger

Bobby gone in 2021. Ut KJ now. Sign Clowney.

  607. STTBM

Cue the folks claiming dude was their guy…just forgot to put him in their mock…JS and PC know what theyre doing…we dont have their Infinite Wisdom…the Pats, Browns, Dolphins, Packers would have snatched this kid…JS had his phone ringing off the hook with trade offers for him moments after the pick was announced…Ive heard it all before. Well, will he be as awesome as Penny, drafted before Chubb? Or as fine a starter as Ifedi, allowed to leave for a one year league min deal moved to a lesser position? Or achieve the heights of success like Michaels, Irvin, Mcdowell….can you see a pattern here?!

    • BobbyK

Don’t forget they think Malik McDowell is better than TJ Watt.

  608. Sea Mode

    Live Jordyn Brooks press conference:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwzBXpB_Isg

Talked to Seahawks at the Combine. Nothing since.

  609. EmperorMA

Probably time to call for the jobs of PC/JS.

    This isn’t funny anymore.

I just don’t believe there is anyone to call to. They basically have Carte Blanche and no one to answer to.

No wonder Clowney doesn’t want to play here.

    • Michael Hasslinger

Hold off. We are still planning for championships. Let Stan Gelbah take over later.

  610. Mark Souza

I just saw a TNT article on this guy. They had video from the Baylor game showing every defensive play fir Texas Tech highlighting Brooks. Very underwhelming. He doesn’t shed block well and gets wash out a lot. Didn’t make many plays. When he did get involved in tackles, it was 7 to 10 yards downfield. Doesn’t cover well, but isn’t asked to much, even against a heavy passing team like Baylor. Maybe this was his worst game (I hope so), but I saw nothing to get excited about.

  611. Rashi

So funny how pople in this blog are so confident Seahawks made the wrong call when he was projected as a high second round pick/1st round pick by many. This isn’t some crazy pick. This guy on average was projected in pick 45. Not a reach at all.

We have no idea if they plan on cutting KJ. Please wait before you assume.

    • STTBM

We heard the same about Irvin, Mcdowell, Ifedi, Penny….its a pattern.

    • BobbyK

Willing to bet money he’s going to be better (more Pro Bowls) than Jonathan Taylor? Would love to give you 2-1 odds and give Rob a percentage of keeping some of the money?

I’ve loved TJ Watt (over Malik McDowell).

I’ve loved David DeCastro over Bruce Irvin.

Want to bet, seriously? Or are you a big talker who can’t back up internet words?

    • Paul Cook

If Brooks was projected on average as a 45th pick, then, yes, he was a reach at 27.

      • Michael Hasslinger

Dude. If you are offered a late 6th to move down, take your guy. Cut KJ. Sign Clowney.

      • Kenny Sloth

        What if 27= 45

    • EmperorMA

What else was available? We could have had this guy in R3. Maybe even R6.

      Dismal failure.

      • MountainHawker

Zero chance this guy would last till the 6th. That’s ridiculous

  612. Blake

How much of the anger over this is really about the future of the team and talent/success in games and how much is about pcjs not picking your own darling pet you’ve watched tape of and obsessed about? I get the arguments about positional value and team need and those can be made in an intelligent way…but just being angry because they didn’t take the guy you mocked to them is silly

  613. SeaTown

I can’t wait to hear that another team immediately tried to trade for Brooks after the Hawks drafted him.

  614. Michael Hasslinger

Is this a Clowney Fund pick?

  615. DougM

This draft was not very top heavy. Not much for teams to trade up for and if they did they didn’t have to give up much. I think Seattle could not get the trade value out of their pick so decided to stand pat. If it is true that the value of those players form the end of round 1 thru round 3 are close, then take the player they want first and make the best out of the other picks. Brooks was pick 64 on pff but might not have been there at 59. They can still get 2 good players with picks 59 and 64. I’m just trying to understand this. My first reaction was fire the idiots.

  616. matt

While we all are stunned, I hope we can all take a step back and see that the Seahawks draft different then most teams. Obviously none of us saw this coming. Perhaps they cut kj, perhaps they understand they need more speed on defense. Perhaps they weren’t satisfied with last years linebackers?. They still have two more picks to bolster their defensive line and with the brooks pick they form a more complete team. One can only hope. I have faith that pcjs know what their doing.

  617. Paul Cook

At the very least we could have tried moving up in the draft to get another target for RW, someone like Reagor, or Jefferson, or CeeDee Lamb…someone who we could have been excited about.

  618. God of Thunder

There were about 18 top tier prospects in the first round. Then, the second tier stretches for about 20 players, yeah?

Brooks could’ve gone at 28 or been there at 34 or 40. We don’t know. The DE players available seemed underwhelming. Presumably a bunch of scouts provided their input and JS and Carroll deemed Brooks the best option.

I’m guessing the offers for trading down were awful. Too bad.

  619. TJ

When the pick was announced, I was shocked. Another left field pick. I don’t think he was picked to play mike though. They must see him in some specialized role due to his physical and athletic traits. They have never been afraid of switching players to new positions based on their size/speed/traits. Do they see him as a pass rusher in their scheme?

  620. GoHawksDani

I’m glad I went to sleep after pick 18.
And I hope PCJS will wanna switch to 3-4 scheme. Otherwise this pick is the worst.
We could use RT, WR3, RB2, EDGE, DT, nCB.
Sure I wanna change KJ to a guy similar to Vander Esch, but this guy is not Leighton. And I don’t want it in the first round.
I see zero impact in first year. And I really hope they don’t wanna roll with 3LB sets anymore.
Damn Ken Norton is the worst.
This team will be mediocre in the following years if they won’t change much.
I hope they can score 2 first year impact (to some extent) players in R2-3 otherwise, I’ll buy my season pass on the firePCJS train.

    • Rob Staton

      They are not switching scheme

  621. BobbyK

I agree. Pete is a stud. John is “smarter” than any of us too.

That being said… I know for a fact some of us have “digital citizenship” that prove our first round picks would be a heck of a lot better than what they do.

    • BobbyK

      See Taylor, Jonathan.

Please note that before you complain, we all have digital messages. And messages that can be traced to a computer. I’m sick of apologizing for my team.

  622. mike banks

Shock ,,, Ahh … And awe! A “futures” round 1 pick for the Seahawks was a “head-scratcher” and led to immediate shock & anger. Especially when there are so many immediate needs, or at least that’s how it started for me. I’m happy for Jordan that he gets to mentor with Bobby & K.J. the next year or two. Here’s to his growth & takeover. I’m also glad that PC & JS are our professionals in the draft & not me. They think “outside of the box” better than I do and they know more about the team’s future needs than I do. All this is fun for me, but I’m just an amateur. I’m not so old that I don’t remember when the Seahawks were a “bad” team. At least now I have hope that they will be a “good” one from here on out. I look forward to the next rounds & Seahawk moves. Peace!

  623. Madmark

Pick 64 Densel Mims here or Davon Hamilton to shore up the the middle

  624. CaptainJack

I was pretty ‘meh’ on Miami’s first round efforts, but they killed it in round 2.
