Round two

#34 TRADE with the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Seahawks moved down one spot to #35, acquiring a sixth round pick (#187). It’s unclear why Jacksonville felt obliged to make this move. They ended up selecting Cam Robinson (T, Alabama).

#35 Malik McDowell (DT, Michigan State)
The Seahawks have been looking for an inside/out rusher for a long time. They decided to take the chance on McDowell. If he delivers on his potential he can be a monster, combining with Frank Clark to solidify the core of the D-line for the long term. Furthermore, there’s much more depth at cornerback than on the D-line. McDowell is an exciting talent but his personality and character question marks led to this fall in the first place. Seattle’s challenge is to get the best out of him consistently for 16 games. They did meet with him — so they clearly feel comfortable with his character and personality. The upside potential is huge.

There are things to work on. His pass rush repertoire is limited and he tends to play out of control at times. His gap discipline isn’t great and while he often breaks into the backfield, he struggled to register splash plays in certain games. His effort at the end of 2016 is well debated. The fact is — Pete Carroll backs his staff to get the best out of players. And McDowell has the kind of talent they love to get their hands on.

Jason La Canfora says the Seahawks would’ve taken McDowell in round one and had he not been available, they would’ve targeted Kevin King (taken by Green Bay at #33).

I didn’t think the Seahawks would take him because his personality, gap discipline and effort didn’t scream ‘Seattle’. That doesn’t mean I don’t like the pick now it’s happened. This team can coach. They’re taking a shot at greatness with this guy.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of his tape by Brett Kollmann:

#58 Ethan Pocic (OL, LSU)
The Seahawks don’t move up — and this one is a little bit surprising (to anyone who’s followed the blog anyway). Pocic wasn’t on our radar so we slipped up there. I’m not sure he was on anyone’s radar for Seattle in round two. With a number of big name players still on the board, this is an intriguing one. It’ll be good to get into some of his games over the next couple of days.

Firstly, it’ll be interesting to see where they decide to use Pocic. He played center to finish his career at LSU but he’s 6-6 and 310lbs. He’s not the longest O-liner (33 inch arms) or particularly explosive (2.81 TEF). Is he a hedge against Justin Britt being out of contract? Will he play guard or get a shot at tackle? He was reportedly well respected at LSU and praised for his leadership. This is one we missed on big time. It’ll be fun to get into his tape.

For the second year in a row Seattle goes OL-DL with their first two picks. And it’s another high pick on the O-line. Jason La Canfora says the Seahawks believe he can play all along the line including tackle.

#90 Shaq Griffin (CB, UCF)
The Seahawks met with him at the VMAC. He gave up some plays at UCF, there’s no getting away from that. However, he’s tough and physical. The Seahawks will like his attitude and he’s a better athlete than shows up on tape — running a fantastic 4.38 at the combine and a smooth 4.14 short shuttle. He could compete in the slot and at outside cornerback. One thing we learnt from this draft? The Seahawks truly are committed to the 32-inch arm benchmark.

#95 Delano Hill (S, Michigan)
Of all the Michigan players draft so far, Hill stood out on tape the least. He’s a good athlete and he has reasonable size. He also has the 32-inch arms and his wingspan is +77.5 inches too. He ran a 4.47 and had a nice 4.27 short shuttle. Hill could compete at the big nickel, special teams and safety. They needed some depth here.

#102 Nazair Jones (DT, North Carolina)
His 24.5 inch vertical was a little off-putting but he ran a 4.63 short shuttle at 6-5 and 305lbs which is pretty much in Seattle’s previous range. Jones has 35 inch arms and he’s tough. He’s not going to be much of a pass rusher but this is looking like a meat and potatoes type of draft class for Seattle. They likely see him as a younger, cheaper version of Tony McDaniel.

#106 Amara Darboh (WR, Michigan)
The two Michigan receivers were very similar in terms of value. Jehu Chesson was the big name a year ago but he didn’t have the breakout year everyone expected. Darboh instead wrestled away a lot of his targets and had a more consistent and productive season. He’ll likely push Jermaine Kearse and compete on special teams initially.

Overall thoughts on day two

This isn’t a sexy draft class filled with big names (or amazing athletes for that matter). This seems to be about toughness, attitude and physicality. Instead of reloading the LOB the Seahawks are seemingly trying to get bigger and more physical in certain areas, while creating cost-savings down the line. If Jones replaces McDaniel this year, Darboh could make Kearse expendable in a year and Pocic could even push Justin Britt into free agency if he asks for too much money.

This is a group that might not form a new core down the line but they’ll compete and contribute. In McDowell they have a potential star if he develops as intended. The rest of the class appears to be about solidity.

They’ll pick five more times tomorrow with picks in round four (x1), six (x2) and seven (x2). There are lots of big names still available including Dorian Johnson, Isaac Asiata, Samaje Perine, Chad Hansen, Bucky Hodges, Jake Butt, George Kittle, Carlos Watkins, Vince Biegel, Carl Lawson, Anthony Walker Jr and Desmond King.

King or Lamp please. I can accept certain other players but one of those would be nice. Oh and if King goes to GB and becomes a Packer? I’ll throw up.

    • troy

      guess you threw up

  2. Misfit74

    Obi, King
    .
    Awuzie, Baker
    .
    Godwin, Lamp, D. Rivers

    • Misfit74

For the record, we didn’t draft any of these 7. 🙁

To make it worse, Rivers went to NE.

  3. Volume12

    Here we go boys.

    Go Hawks!

  4. chet380

lamp, if available — otherwise trade down, but stay in the 30’s.

  5. Poko

    enjoy draft!
    Go hawks!

  6. GerryG

No more trading down. We rolled the dice twice, and it paid off (one more pick to go). It’s time to get your guys. I want them to trade back up.

    • Volume12

That’s getting too damn cute if they do again.

      • CHawk Talker Eric

        I wouldn’t rule it out.

    • Redhawk87

To be fair, say we trade down five spots to the Jets to get #39 and #107 so the Jets can get a QB. That’s a maximum of 4 teams that would have to pick up Obi, Lamp, and King in order for it to be a bad trade, assuming they’re all equally desired as a 1st pick this draft. That extra pick allows us more ammo to move up with #58 (or without).

      • jujus

im a fan of this jets trade but swapping 95 to their native 3rd round position…

  7. John_s

So many good options Can’t wait!

  8. Blueshawk

i have a gut feeling it is none of the above. But I don’t want to mention the name in deference to the peeps who want to wait for Santa to give them the present. It is a position no one has discussed to this point.

    • Volume12

      RB?

      • AlaskaHawk

It’s about time they got a new field goal kicker.

      • Blueshawk

        uh huh

        • Blueshawk

          eggzackly

  9. Volume12

    No TIPPING picks, please!

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Seriously

      • Grant G

        This!

  10. John_s

My worry is that the Pack pick king. But at least there’s other CB options

    • Volume12

Yeah. Cook seems like a great fit for them too though.

  11. Volume12

Who’s making the pick for Seattle? Big Walt? Who? Who?

    • John_s

      Kenny Easley hopefully

  12. SheHawk

Agree getting too cute with trading back again — Please get me some UW Dawgs tonight I will cry if GB takes King — he was born to be in LOB

  13. House

    Hurry up Roger…

  14. Nathan

Anyone know the live war room link.

  15. Misfit74

Shock the world with Derek Rivers…. Man that’d be something. We can miss on Obi or King though. Maybe if he makes it to our 2nd 2nd

    • Volume12

      Rivers is a stud.

PC had Bo Pelini on his staff at NE. Who’s the HC of Youngstown St.?

      • jujus

I will take who is bo pelini for 1000000 dollars

  16. Derron James

Ima be sick if king is a packer and we have to face him

  17. nichansen01

The Seahawks pick Dominick Jackson OT, Florida State. Great pick.

  18. DLep

buzz is the pack going King

  19. Dan

    Tier one: King, Obi

    Two: lamp quincy or awuzie

    • Poko

      +1

  20. Producehawk

Pack or Sea or both may trade back a bit if yesterday was any indication of how desperate teams are for iffy QBs.

  21. Misfit74

    Maybe it’s Josh Jones?

  22. Hawksince77

I think the first pick will be Tim Williams, but hoping for Budda Baker. Perhaps they can get them both!

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      I’m guessing Obi or King

      • Hawksince77

As discussed in the previous thread, it all depends on how PC/JS measure Obi’s football character. If they pick Obi, I will be thrilled, because that means he passed muster. But I won’t be surprised if they don’t, because I am not sure if Obi has demonstrated enough passion for the game.

        • CHawk Talker Eric

Only they know for sure, but I wouldn’t mistake Obi’s calm demeanor as a lack of passion.

          • Hawksince77

I was referring to his play on the field. He just doesn’t strike me as a player who has fulfilled his physical potential.

      • Volume12

        There’s so much talent left.

I’ve always preferred the 2nd, 3rd, and UDFA ’rounds’ to the sexier 1st round picks.

        • Volume12

Last night was Christmas Eve for me.

          Tonight is Christmas!

          • CHawk Talker Eric

            We live for this sh!t

            • Volume12

              Yes we do my man.

  23. Volume12

The GB war room looks thrilled.

    • Hawksince77

Hopefully that means they got a trade

  24. Misfit74

    Shefter reporting its a defender

    • C-Dog

My $ is that GB is going Kevin King.

  25. nichansen01

Please don’t be king please don’t be king please don’t be king

    • Redhawk87

      Shit

  26. nichansen01

This is really going to hurt…

  27. Volume12

The run on DBs is gonna start real soon. Maybe with this next pick from GB.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Could be. If they take King, I’ll bet SEA go with Obi.

  28. Misfit74

I just know they’re gonna take King, which is totally fine if we take Obi.

  29. Rowlandice

If GB makes the pick – I bet we trade back again! SOMEBODY is gonna want Cook or a QB

    • John_s

      That’s what I’m thinking too

  30. nichansen01

    I’m praying it’s not king

  31. Volume12

They better not go to commercial when Seattle’s pick is in. If so, no one spoi it.

    GB trades it?

    • nichansen01

      Unlikely

  32. BobbyK

Trade down a bit (not too far down) and get an extra pick in 2018.

    • TallyHawk

Listen to the NFL network guys talk about GB getting trade calls couldn’t help but think it wouldn’t be a surprise to see another trade down. Although I feel at some point there will be a trade up too.

  33. Volume12

What is going on? Get on with it!

  34. Derron James

    Seattle may trade back

  35. Volume12

Seriously though. Does anyone know who’s announcing Seattle’s pick?

    • jujus

      Avril is announcing one

  36. Magmatizer

    NOOOOOO!

  37. Misfit74

    King is off the board.

  38. Derron James

    Noooo

  39. CHawk Talker Eric

    I hate twitter

  40. troy

    Packers took King FUCK!

  41. vrtkolman

Ughhhhh that is so deflating. I don’t mind not getting King, but going to Green Bay is killer. He’s going to be a star.

  42. Volume12

    Great pick GB.

  43. C-Dog

King. Great pick up for the Pack.

  44. EP

    Damn

  45. jujus

    I bet we go Obi

  50. Volume12

    Seattle traded again!

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Haha too funny. Said it could happen. Pretty short trade down, but worth #187.

  51. nichansen01

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  52. BobbyK

That kind of sucks. But we can’t get all of King, Baker, Obi, etc. But do need one.

  53. Derron James

I think we go trade back lamp or Obi

  54. BobbyK

Another trade. LOL. Hopefully for a pick next year.

  55. nichansen01

    WHAT ON EARTH

  56. John_s

Trade one spot down. Jax on the clock it looks like

    • John_s

Jags are taking Cam or Lamp huh?

    • Producehawk

      6 roinder

  62. Rowdy

    Hawks blew it

    • nichansen01

I don’t agree. There’s plenty of options still on the board.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Not if they want Obi. JAX prob want Robinson, maybe Lamp

  63. troy

Anyone know what we got for the trade with JAX?

    • John_s

      6th

      • troy

Thanks, I really hope King does not turn into a pro bowl player because if he does I will never forget this trade down that JS just HAD TO DO

  64. SheHawk

Im heart broken — we got a little too cute — should have grabbed him last night See what is up If its Cam the TV going off ( at least for a bit cuz I couldn’t really stop watching this and NOW we traded out again KILL ME NOW

  65. Misfit74

    Seattle traded down 1 spot

  66. Magmatizer

LOL we moved down a spot.

  67. Aaron

Packers get King…dang it!!! Great pick for the. Good luck to him. Plus Hawks trading down again. Still great options at CB despite King going to GB.

  68. C-Dog

    Trade!

  69. jujus

LOVE GETTING PICKS FROM JAX HIGH PICK FROM WHAT EVER ROUND!!! WOOOOTTTTT

  70. Nathan

    We;ve traded again.

  71. Misfit74

    Guessing Jags go OL

  72. Grant G

Man I wanted King. Wonder what we got in Trade value

  73. MarkinSeattle

Damn, damn, damn……i get the impression that King was hoping to get selected by the Seahawks judging by his reaction.

    • stregatto

he looked like it in the acceptance speech to me fwiw

  74. sdcoug

We have too many dang huskies anyway

  75. TallyHawk

Any chance we fleeced Jax like SF fleeced Chicago lol?

    • Volume12

      We got a 6th.

  76. Derron James

I think we are gonna get lamp or Robinson depends on jax

  77. Volume12

Obi, Lamp, or Robinson for Jax?

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Robinson

  78. Nick

Everyone who is freaking out: chill. We are going to get a haul.

    • MarkinSeattle

Sure, but will they be Pro Bowlers?

King has better talent than Sherman, he studied him and modeled his play on Sherman. He would have been perfect and a future all pro under PC barring injury. Maybe the guy we select will as well, but not nearly as much of a guarantee in my mind as selecting King. They made a mistake, big time.

      • AlaskaHawk

Yes it’s pretty much a worthless haul, but okay you got a haul.

      • Just a guy

        This is comical

  79. Derron James

If not we are hoping on the OBI TRAIN CHOO CHOO

    • nichansen01

      YES PLEASE

  80. Misfit74

    Jags 6th

  81. BobbyK

Could have used an extra pick in ’18.

  82. Poko

    Damn

  83. Ehurd1021

    Trading down again!

    Every year… the same shit.

    • Ehurd1021

      *stuff…

      Excuse my langue, everyone. Apologies.

  84. nichansen01

The hawks had to know Green Bay was into king. They’re not stupid.

  85. Ed

Everyone said the same thing when Hendrix went to Philly and then Hawks took Wagner. That worked out. Trust in JS/PC. Still plenty of talent and the Hawks keep getting more ammo.

    • Ed R

I was in that Hendrix boat.

  86. Rowlandice

    Picked up another 6th? WHY?

    • CHawk Talker Eric

I think they trade back up into R2, also into early R3. Could see them making 3 picks in the top 75.

  87. C-Dog

Now 11 picks in this s draft, I smell a move up after the first pick. Go Hawks

    • Volume12

      Yup.

      Seattle controls the draft now.

      • Derron James

        I am so excited

  88. Volume12

Never thought King was their guy anyways.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

We’ve been down that road a few times. Always thought Obi was the better prospect but King filled a more immediate need…

So if they take Obi, all good.

  89. BobbyK

Don’t have to worry about taking Cam Robinson.

    • Hawksince77

      good call

    • sdcoug

Why are you spoiling the pick?

  90. Hawksince77

I don’t think they were ever going to draft a CB with their top pick. If that’s true, they were never going to draft King, because that’s what it would have taken.

    • Volume12

Agreed. Never thought it was King.

    • Misfit74

Agreed. We would have stayed at a prior pick and taken him if he was our top CB

  91. Derron James

I want them to get Robinson so we can get lamp or Obi

  92. Misfit74

It was our plan all along to move down and still get Obi. Maybe Awuzie. Gotta be Obi.

  93. nichansen01

Well know we have two seconds four thirds 1 fourth two sixths two sevenths..

    • Hawksince77

Yeah, somebody needs to inform JS that he has to pick at some point

  94. Ed

My bet is Lamp or Robinson to Jax. Hawks can still get Obi/McDowell/Hall/Tankersley/Lewis/Bowser etc….

    • Volume12

      I think ur right.

  95. TCal

These guys are toying with us!

  96. TallyHawk

Really don’t want OL. DB or Dline

  97. Rowlandice

I smell another trade down. Maybe all the way to the Saints at 42

  98. Sea Mode

Let’s see if they trade up with Chicago and pick twice in a row!

  99. Derron James

We are gonna pick 3 times this round I bet

  100. Grant G

Now I’m rooting for Awuzie, maybe Obi, or Q Wilson

  101. Magmatizer

Having Cam Robinson off the table narrows our scope a bit.

  102. Volume12

Great pick for the Jags. Love it.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Good pick for them.

    • Volume12

      Upside pick for them.

Robinson & Fournette? Great haul Jags.

  103. Derron James

    Didn’t want Robinson anyway

  104. Producehawk

    Robinson off.

  105. House

    Robinson off the board! YES!!!

  106. Misfit74

Cam, good pick for them. Powerful run blocker for Fournette.

  107. TCal

Oh so glad we don’t have option of Carpenter 2.0

  108. troy

Nice I’m happy Robinson is out, please get an impact player please please please

  109. Aaron

Thank you Jax for taking Robinson so the Hawks don’t take him. Good luck with a guy that has a horrible kick step and is a RT at best.

  110. Derron James

    I’m calling forest lamp

  111. Dawgma

Damn, damn, damn. At least there are still a bunch of good options…

  112. Derron James

Of course when they come back SOB

  113. Producehawk

    Commercial crap!

  114. Redhawk87

    Lamp or Obi?

  115. nichansen01

    OBI OBI OBI OBI

  116. BobbyK

If they do want an OL – maybe they were willing to pick up a pick for free since their grades for Robinson and Lamp were close.

  117. Nathan

Is the war room link working for anyone else?

I can only see ‘webcast about to start’

  118. Hawksince77

the pick is in, so no trade at 35

  119. John_s

Espn shows the pick is in! An actual pick!

  120. Volume12

They ran to the podium man.

    • Derron James

Must be someone they really like

  121. Nathan

No trade this time, we’ve picked.

  122. troy

THEY ARE MAKING A PICK PEOPLE IT IS IN!!!

  123. Misfit74

Seahawks live draft room is now open

  124. jujus

    HELL YESSS

  125. Volume12

They did go to a ‘mercial. Ha!

  126. CHawk Talker Eric

    No spoiling please!

  127. DLep

    lol

  128. Dan

This is it!!! they finally will pick someone!!… I hope…

  129. Misfit74

    Schneider hugging people

  130. Joshua Smith

What is up with the commercials. ESPN wonders why their viewship is down. Its the reason why NFL viewership is down too. College football is even more ridiculous: 4 1/2 hour games – 2 hours of which is commercials

  131. Rowdy

    This is crap

  132. Hawksince77

    figures – commercials

  133. Derron James

FUCK THIS PICK I FONT LIKE HIM

    • Derron James

      But it will work out

  134. House

With the 35th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select…

    • House

      Malik McDowell

  135. Ryan

    I HATE THIS PICK

  136. Hawksince77

    the same commercial twice!

  137. Volume12

    McDowell?

    • Derron James

      Yes sir

  138. DLep

    McDowell!

  139. Misfit74

    Please be Obi

  140. SheHawk

Well At least Cam is gone happy to get extra ammo to move up and get Budda or Sydney for now i am hoping its Obi

  141. Volume12

    Yup!

  142. AndrewP

    WOW!!!!

  143. Magmatizer

Malik McDowell. I guess they must have done their homework on him.

  144. Volume12

    Don’t hate it.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Don’t love it.

      Don’t understand it

  145. GerryG

    Booooooooo!

  146. Ed

    Pocket pusher

  147. Misfit74

Wow. McDowell. He is a stud 3tech when playing hard.

  148. jujus

My guy Malik, this means they believed the injury narrative.

  149. brando

    kinda surprised by the pick

  150. nichansen01

    MCDOWELL

THIS IS A PICK EVERYONE IS GOING TO HATE BUT I LOVE THIS SOOOOOO MUCH

    • C-Dog

Love this pick. Swing for the fences on the DL

  151. C-Dog

Malik McDowell children! I had a feeling they’d go DT early. Go Hawks!!

  152. Jusjamn

    McDowell!!!!!

  153. DLep

I like the pick, been one of the few on the blog that was amenable to this pick when he was being discussed.

    • Ed R

I agree. All the talent in the world, just need to coach him up.

  154. Forrest

    -_-

    I mean…okay.

  155. Derron James

We need to come back and get lamp even though I think the rams are getting him I think

  156. Volume12

If there’s anyone who can coach him up it’s PC.

Told ya’ll they’d take a character concern or red flag guy.

    • C-Dog

Love this pick here. Major upside.

    • Kenny Sloth

      And someone fans would hate

  157. Producehawk

    Good pick at this point.

    • Rowdy

Not trading back and taking king would of been way better

      • Trevor

        +1

  158. Misfit74

Most talented DT in draft outside of Allen/Thomas and Malik might be a better pure 3tech.long time since we had one like this.

  159. Mistral

Gifted Geneticallly? I watched Get Out last night, not today.

  160. vrtkolman

Wow! This definitely is a Seahawky pick. Special blend of physical and athleticism. He must have impressed them when he visited. We got our interior pass rusher!

  161. chet380

Take a deep breath, people — there are 23 picks until our #58 — most of our faves will be taken, so resign yourselves to some disappointments.

  162. Ehurd1021

I like the pick. D-line is a bigger concern on this team than most people believe. Can’t play solid defense if you can’t stop the run and win the LOS.

    • Rowdy

The tape say he socks at stopping the run.

    • GerryG

Everyone agrees with that, it’s that he gave up last season, quit. Not very Seahawky

      • Jusjamn

        Attitude problems. Sheeesh…

  163. Del tre

Wow… now i feel like we are trending down.

  164. nichansen01

THIS GUY CAN BE ELITE IF CARROLL GETS TO HIM

    ELITEEEEEEEE

  165. Volume12

I’m actually coming around on him man.

His 2016 tape was bad, go check the 2015 stuff. Top 15 potential.

    • Volume12

And I recommend the ND tape from this year.

I think we got this years Chris Jones.

      • vrtkolman

I made this comparison back when they had McDowell come in for a visit. His players comps are insane. Mario Williams.

  166. jujus

The way that they were saying that no one was taking their guy I suspected it would be Malik.

  167. Misfit74

Depth at corner and safety, zero guys like this later. Playing the whole board.

  168. Grant G

If you’re going to go boom or bust, I guess might as well grab 3 more picks in the process…

  169. EP

Still got another 10 picks 😀

  170. Mike

    Cards traded up..

  171. Ishmael

Well… Man. Great call by all of you who said they liked him.

I’m absolutely not thrilled right now, but hopefully they can get him switched on and we’ve got ourselves an inside-out wrecker. He needs coaching in a big way, but he’s incredibly young and an absolute animal at his best. Swing for the fences right?

    • jujus

Ceiling is non existent for him – have faith in PC. He could be the best defensivelinemen in this entire draft

  172. Sea Mode

YUGE upside. They can still move up for Obi or Chidobe.

  173. Hawk Eye

oh, not sure if I like it or not.
Love the potential, but not sure he has the heart
But I am willing to trust JS and PC that they can get the most out of him

  174. BayaHawk

I predicted Malik to the Hawks in the SDB competition but at 26. Yay, me!

  175. Poko

    lol

  176. Rowlandice

A bit underwhelmed – prove me wrong Malik!

  177. Derron James

I am actually good with the pick the more I think about it, I expect a trade up soon to take lamp or Obi. They may also go after Quincy Wilson or Awuzie

    • Coleslaw

I’m hoping for any of those or Tim williams

      • Kyle

This! Yeah, id be happy with that. If they can figure out tim Williams what a steal. we would be ferocious up front

  178. MarkinSeattle

He could be great, or he could be mediocre. I wonder if they see him as a Bennett clone, or if they see him as a DT pass rusher.

  179. TallyHawk

With what we have on the outside if McDowell can collapse the pocket this D will get back to being elite. Their inability to get any consistent push inside has held this D back more than anything the last couple seasons, besides injury, imo.

    • Ed R

I agree. It will also make life easier for a rookie CB if we draft/start one.

  180. Producehawk

Trust the process. We must not have wanted to trade back with Arizona because of the gap.

  181. Aaron

You were right Rob! An inside-out rusher for the first round. Huge upside but I HIGHLY question his motor.

  182. nichansen01

When you pick later in the draft, and you want a guy with a really high ceiling, he’s probably also going to have a pretty low floor. Just how it is. Love this pick. Endless potential.

    • vrtkolman

From what I can remember, PC/JS first draft picks always go for the highest ceilings.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

That’s a pretty good way of putting. Not sure I love the pick. Depends on how the rest of the day goes. It’s not as much about McDowell as it is about other options.

It’s a boom-or-bust pick for sure. If it pays off, we’ll have the best Dline in the League.

  183. Hawksince77

Wow, didn’t see that coming. This will be very interesting to watch. If he works out, it will be the homer inside pass rusher that might make Seattle’s d-line really scary. If not, not so much lost, given the cost.

  184. Ed

Avril and Bennett are getting older. Dline of Reed/Clark/McDowell. Not bad. Deep in the secondary, Hawks can still come away with 2 of (Awuzie/Baker/Lewis/Tankersley/Douglas/Jones/Luani).

    Go Hawks

  185. Ishmael

V12 called it early that they’d take cats who made us unhappy haha. They do their own thing man, if they’re happy with his mental makeup then who am I to say they’re wrong?

    • Volume12

Yup. The internet will hate this draft. Watch.

      • jujus

i am the internet and i flipping love this. I have a stiffy that wont go away

      • Ishmael

I’m trying to come around to it, I really am. Stephen White, who I really respect, only had good things to say about him over at SB Nation.

  186. Sea Mode

They wouldn’t have taken him if the VMAC visit didn’t check out. Really like the pick. That’s how we get blue chip talent picking in R2.

  187. DLep

Metric Analysis: Malik McDowell has a very strong data profile projecting to 3-4 defensive end. Above average market share production and near elite speed for his size. McDowell’s explosiveness score doesn’t meet the Pro Bowl threshold, but he has the same explosiveness score as the only outlier in Richard Seymour. In fact, Seymour and McDowell are almost identical athletes on paper. Thus, I’d project McDowell as a long-term starter to potential Pro Bowl caliber 3-4 defensive end.

    https://draftcobern.wordpress.com/2017/03/14/2017-nfl-draft-analytics-profile-malik-mcdowell/

    • Jusjamn

If only we ran a 3-4.

      • Dlep

He will be a michael Bennett type here

        • RWIII

Love this pick. Michael Bennett will make sure that McDowell plays up to his full potential. Michael Bennett will kick McDowell ‘s butt if he doesn’t give 100 percent.

Trust me: With Bennett hanging around, McDowell will be scared not to give 100%.

  188. nichansen01

Cards take Kizer or Webb here I think

    • Producehawk

      Buddha wow.

  189. Misfit74

Malik McDowell | DT, Michigan State
    Height: 6-6 Weight: 296
This is another really good pick early in the round. He has top-10 talent, but there are some effort questions. Right team here.
    Grade: A

    • Misfit74

      CBS

  190. Ed

    Davis or Peterman?

  191. Trevor

Mcdowell was one of the only players I really did not want after watching his tape this year his effort was embarrassing. I have no doubt about his talent but Pete must think he can somehow give this guy heart. I have my doubts and could not be more disappointed.

    • Volume12

Watch 2015 Trev. Its top 15 good. I wouldn’t lie to ya.

      • Trevor

I will have to tonight Vol because I watched a ton of his tape this year after the VMAC visit.

His tape vs Michigan almost made me want to throw up for his team mates having to play with a guy who gives up like that.

        • Nick

Such great points from both sides. In the end, I trust our culture to shape him in a positive fashion. We, as fans, can honestly be huge to that—imagine playing in CenturyLink as a rookie who was on a shit team last year? It’s going to be a big change. Every single game as a Hawk his team is always going to be in it and he won’t have to be totally relied upon. He can just be him. Last year, from what I understand, he was really one of the few good players on that D. He won’t be that anymore. He’s going to be the runt in that DL room. Go hawks.

    • vrtkolman

I get your reaction Trevor, but remember he did visit the VMAC. I imagine Seattle vetted his personality pretty thoroughly and had their sports psychologist on him. He is a possible All-Pro in the NFL.

      • jujus

He was injured alot last yea taht he played through. Alot of people deemed this fake news but if it was legit and he played through it… Thats seahawky imo

      • Mexican Hawk

Volume really does know his tape. In you I trust my friend. A bit shocked.

But you can’t get that talent without some sort of baggage or negative attached to why he dropped. Hope this one turns into one of the success stories.

If i remember correctly Mel Kiper had him as his possible # 1 player for this year post 2016 draft.

      • Seatown

Terrible pick. Quitters are quitters. It’s in their DNA.

  192. Volume12

McDowell and Frank Clark? Yes sir!

    • John_s

      Both with crazy wingspans!

    • Aaron

Clark was a questionable pick in 2015, I think McDowell is just as questionable this year. But imagine a motivated McDowell, Clark, Bennett, and Avril…OH BABY WHAT A FRONT FOUR!!! Just hope they get McDowell motivated.

      • Seatown

What if he’s not motivated? Bust.

  193. Derron James

    Budda baker not bad

    • Derron James

Good pick lets trade up now Please!!!

  194. nichansen01

    Great pick for Arizona.

  195. Magmatizer

    I’m so sad now…

  196. Ehurd1021

AND HE CAN RUSH THE PASSER FROM THE 1/3-tec on passing downs lol. Which I’ve been begging to see on Seattle D-line since 2013 lol. Stout run defender who can stop the run as well. Solid pick.

    • Rowdy

I seen rb run past him at will on film

      • Ehurd1021

        What are you saying?

    • Jusjamn

      Not stout against the run.

      • Ehurd1021

Completely disagree. Even when double teamed – which happened to him all of 2016 because of the lack of talent around him – he was still a difference maker and disruptive.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy7erbPJISQ

      • hawkdawg

Look at Rob’s clip on him above. The guy can anchor like a freaking battleship. His pad level for a guy 6’6″ is excellent. The inside plays in those clips look like they should be made by a 330 lb 6 foot NT.

And no such NT could EVER make those outside plays, either.

So, it’s up to the Hawks to light the fire. Because the kindling is all there.

  197. Ed

Arizona is getting players the blog loved. Reddick and Baker.

  198. nichansen01

Budda Baker great pick for Arizona

  199. Poko

we may not get King and Obi.
    I am shocked

  200. SheHawk

OMG Card grabbed Budda — he is special been pounding table for him is honey badger v next and now he is with AZ I am totally bummed

  201. Aaron

…Baker to the Cards…SMH!!!!! If y’all get Budda can we get the Honey Badger cuz they are the same kinda player.

  202. vrtkolman

I thought Arizona should have taken Hooker, Baker is a nice consolation prize though.

  203. Rowlandice

Need a miracle here. Need to get in front of CAROLINA and CINCI!

  204. Volume12

Damn. ‘Zona is loaded in the secondary! Wow.

  205. Ishmael

Fantastic pick for Arizona. Peterson, Mathieu, and Budda all in the same secondary, that’s going to be incredible to watch.

  206. CHawk Talker Eric

Bummed. Really like Budda. Glad for him to go this high. Sad for us it’s to a division rival.

  207. Volume12

Your pass rushers better come with juice man. Seattle likes these bad a** characters to get after the passer.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

If they can light his fire and get him pissed off for greatness, then we’ll have the baddest DL in the NFL.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Report says he needs to clean up his technique, but good value where he was taken imo

And hey, you got Bennett and Avril to help him reach his ceiling

      • Ishmael

He’s got one move at the moment. Tackles worked it out and he stopped being nearly as effective. He needs coaching in a big, big, way. If anyone can get it out of him it’s the Hawks…

  208. Nick

Great point by Zach Whitman on Twitter: Jags didn’t need to jump ahead of Seattle to take Cam. https://twitter.com/zjwhitman/status/858102923129085952

    • Producehawk

Somebody else might have been in play for the slot.

    • Rowdy

They probably had to jump ahead so someone else didnt

  209. nichansen01

Dang it. Bills snipe Zay Jones.

    • John_s

      I like JuJu better

      • CHawk Talker Eric

I like the potential of JuJu better. But right now Zay is the more “ready” receiver.

    • vrtkolman

At least the Rams did not.

  210. CharlieTheUnicorn

There goes a fan fav on the blog.. WR

  211. EP

Been a good draft from the bills so far I think. Got 2 good players from positions that were dire needs and also picked up a first rounder next year

  212. C-Dog

Alright, they got a physical freak to rush inside, how ’bout they make a move up for Melifonwu?

    • Sea Mode

      +1

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Trade up around pick #45….. I smell a blood in the water

      • TCal

        +1

  213. Volume12

Buffalo is having a very quietly, sneaky good draft. And they get 2 firsts next year.

  214. AndrewP

I love Buddha… But is Deone/Buddha/Badger not a touch of the same thing? Can they really effectively get all three on the field at the same time without sacrificing other positions?

    • Ed

Badger is always on the DL, so probably Deone and Budda

  215. CharlieTheUnicorn

NFL COMPARISON Ezekiel Ansah = Malik McDowell – NFL.com

    • vrtkolman

And Mario Williams. Dude is fantastic who had a rough 2016.

  216. Sea Mode

War room feed goes off = shtuff gets real.

  217. Nathan

Is it just me or is there a disproportionately large number of players in the draft with initials that are the same letter twice.

Ryan Ramschyk, Malik McDowell, Keving King, Budda Baker

    • Nathan

      Evan Engram.

      • Nathan

        Marcus Maye.

  218. Ehurd1021

Obi won’t make it all the way to pick 30.

I guess they saw something we didn’t lol.

  219. Volume12

Someone go check on The guru. The guy who thinks Seattle’s scouts follow him and he can actually influence their picks.

    Is he alive still? HAHA!

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

:O He also has a major stock stake in tinfoil producing companies

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Who?

      • Volume12

JS. The guy who hates Rob.

        • CHawk Talker Eric

          Right, strangled

    • Ishmael

Ha, he’s having a massive cry on Twitter.

    • jujus

      he is on suicide watch.

    • Matt

He’s not doing well, ha. I hate to laugh at mental illness, but he clearly has something wrong with him.

      • Ehurd1021

Can I get his Twitter handle lol?

      • BayaHawk

The guy who constantly retweets himself and talks to himself in tweets. It’s very sad to watch.

  220. Rowdy

Malik sounds like he has no interest in playing for seattle

    • Jusjamn

      Source?

      • Producehawk

        Where did you hear that?

        • nichansen01

          Link please

  221. LeoSharp

Love the Mcdowell pick. I think his effort issues were overplayed, he also dealt with numerous injuries last season which probably effected him more than people realize.

  222. Derron James

    Great pick by the chargers

  223. Misfit74

Sweet. Now I don’t have to worry about another slot/manufactured touches guy in Seattle. Good fit for Bills along with Watkins. They had no slot or #2 receiver.

  224. Volume12

I gotta say guys. I’m liking this pick more and more. He just fits our D’s personality.

Remember fellas. Tape only gets u so far in this game.

    • Derron James

      Me too.

      • Sea Mode

        +1

  225. Misfit74

Chargers should pick Samuel, A FS not named OBI, or Lamp. Maybe Cunningham.

  226. SheHawk

I agree with the comments that we are good with that type of player – Malek must have passed his interview and in person visit but seems like we had amazing players at UW in back yard and we’ve been overly critical of them Doubt we take Sydney or JoeJoe Mathis now its a bit of a pattern Maybe they will still grab a coug. But honestly I am really disappointed.

OBI still out there though…… we got to get back up here and grab a DB asap

    • Volume12

JS said it. They’re too close to Udub. They over analyze them to a fault sometimes.

  227. Derron James

    Great pick

  228. vrtkolman

Lamp and Zay Jones out of the picture for the Rams, which is good for us.

  229. CharlieTheUnicorn

The Superchargers now are lighting a Lamp for LA

    • Volume12

      Their offense is lit!

  230. StoveEats

Come on, move up for Awuzie or Obi!

I’d be a big fan of another DLiner at 58 too.

  231. CharlieTheUnicorn

Jets grab QB here? In the Second round?

  232. Mexican Hawk

You never let go of a player you want, but with so much trading back they might have been able to slide even further.

Nevertheless if that is the player they targeted more power to them. Just like Bears.

  233. Darth12er

I keep waiting for the Hawks to move up…come on Obi

    • Misfit74

      +1

    • Dave

Me too! What the heck are we waiting for?!? I like the McDowell pick. He had nothing to play for last year. He is now on a perennial playoff team. He said the word compete in his press conference. It wasn’t the best interview, but his physical skills are off the chart. Watch 2015 tape when MSU games mattered.

  234. Volume12

Awful pick for the Jets. So overrated.

    • Derron James

I think it was a good pick

    • C-Dog

I had Maye going late third round

    • Nick

Completely disagree. They have two bad ass safeties now. Who are going to be hungry for success.

  235. Derron James

Two safeties wow I like it!

  236. vrtkolman

Wow, good pick Jets. Two safeties with their first two picks.

  237. drewdawg11

We can still trade up and get Obi or wilson. Awuzea.

    • Derron James

One is gonna be gone soon better hurry

    • CHawk Talker Eric

I think we’re about to see a run on DBs

  238. Misfit74

Wow, dual Safeties for the Jets. Pryor and Gilchrist rightfully to bench.

  239. CharlieTheUnicorn

    *checks off DL box*

Looking at other needs…. CB/S come to mind…. time to check another box off around pick #45 with a trade up

  240. C-Dog

Jets get freaky with safeties back to back

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Interesting strategy

      • Sea Mode

I think they just want “safe”, high-character leaders to build around.

      • CharlieTheUnicorn

Build up the middle….. can’t say they are bad picks at all

      • C-Dog

They were hemorrhaging points all year long. It makes sense, but dang. DB is so deep in this draft, why go back to back?

  241. Sea Mode

Wonder if the comments about self-scouting their own mistakes last year referred to Chris Jones. They passed on talent at a position of need. This time, they trust their staff to keep him motivated and don’t make the same mistake twice.

  242. CharlieTheUnicorn

Bears will trade off of 45 with someone, they need more picks in the draft

  243. Nathan

Congrats to the Jets for drafting their 22nd safety in the last 3 drafts! #NFLDraft

  244. Misfit74

Maybe DL as usual for Panthers.

  245. Derron James

Not liking the panthers pick too similar players

    • Derron James

      Very Eh

  246. EP

Thinking Bears Eagles and Saints target defensive backs with their next picks

  247. Coleslaw

So far we have to play against Solomon Thomas, Reuben Foster, Haason Reddick, Budda Baker twice a year

  248. Volume12

    McDowell ain’t even 21 yet.

Remember when I told u guys to follow or look at Gil Brandts twitter? Please do so now.

We all wanted Calais Campbell right? Got him! Got himl

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

*give Vol12 a beer*…. relax man, you are getting really lathered up and there are potentially 5 more picks tonight!

      • Volume12

I’m gonna get even more excited! Watch out.

        Pants off! 😉

      • jujus

ME an vol12 are going HAM TONIGHT WOOOHOOOO WERE GOING STREAKINGGGGGGGG~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

    • Rowdy

      Lmao Campbell? Really

      • Volume12

        Yup. Campbell upside.

  249. troy

Hey Rob can you compare Malik with Donald and see if they are similar at all athletically?

  250. LeoSharp

Starting to think Obi slips into the mid 2nd after all the interest by the Bucs, Lions etc.
Clearly wasn’t a 1st round player based on tape( loads to critique, less projection) and his athleticism hasn’t pushed him up draft boards as much as expected.

  251. CharlieTheUnicorn

Perhaps the Jets will got to a base 4-2-5 defense… 3 safety set-up.

  252. vrtkolman

    Meh, Curtis Samuel?

  253. Magmatizer

CAR takes 2 RBs early. I guess they want to run that triple option to perfection.

  254. Misfit74

Samuel and McCaffrey. Didn’t see that coming. Two RB/Slot receivers makes no sense.

    • C-Dog

I actually dig it. Playmakers. They want to get creative

      • RealRhino2

Very good pick, IMO. Gives them a lot of options for an offense that has been pretty creative with its running game. The more they can let Cam get rid of the ball quickly, the better.

  255. Sea Mode

    Wow, McCaffrey + Samuel.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Like NYJ but with OW instead of Safety

  256. Volume12

    Great pick for Carolina.

They needed a guy like him.

They go get 2 OW swiss army knives to go with that wishbone esque offense. Dayum.

  257. C-Dog

I gotta say, I really like what the Panthers are doing with McCaffery and Samuel. Holy moly.

  258. Derron James

    Great pick Vikings

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      Ditto

    • Derron James

      Dalvin

  259. CharlieTheUnicorn

Wasn’t McDowell playing out of position at 1T/NT last year ?

That is what they are saying on local radio right now, but might fir better at 3T

    • Volume12

He’s a Bennett type with Calais Campbell upside.

      • CharlieTheUnicorn

        Ansah was comparison on NFL.com

        • Volume12

I can see that, but McDowell can rush from the inside.

    • Dave

Played out of position for his team. He had to try to stop the run. He can anchor, but he’s a better pass rusher who can play the run.

  260. BobbyK

This pick help ensures we never see Marsh on the field on 3rd and long. We’ve got good pass rush depth now. Avril, Bennett, McDowell, Clark, and Jefferson is a wild card up the gut. With good run stuffers like Reed and Rubin, and I really like our DL overall. I’m happy with it.

  261. nichansen01

What’s the deal with Jared Stranger?

    • jujus

arrogant Snowflake who blocks anyone who disagrees. can be insightful but has a god complex

      • jujus

Also has a beef with Rob so we dont use his name. he gets the “hewhoshallnotbenamed” voldemort treatment

      • Ed R

He blocked me for disagreeing with him, only person to ever block me. I was completely respectful, but he was saying some insane stuff, he thinking whatever he says is gospel.

    • Volume12

      Piece of s**t.

Is he pooping on this pick?

      • John_s

He’s flipping his sh@t right now.

        He hates the pick.

        • Rob Staton

          I suddenly love the pick!

          • John_s

            Ha! I love you Rob

          • Sea Mode

            lolololol

          • MSL

            haha!

          • John_s

Just wait til they pick Obi. Epic meltdown will come 😂

          • Ed R

Haha, if Jared hates it I love it more.

    • Ed

      Who is he?

    • Casey Ray Zachary

Jared does have insight but seems to lack maturity. He seems to be desperate to break into a front office somewhere but going to be hard coming off as a petulant child. He really likes to RT something from a month or year ago that he tweeted, which makes it seem he knew what the Seahawks were going to do months in advance, but the more I follow him the more it seems he just spits out ever possible scenario so he can RT it months from now to look brilliant.

  262. John_s

LOB gets all the shine but the DLine is what made the defense special in ’13

Still lots of DB prospects out there not as many DL’s

    Like the pick

    • RealRhino2

IMO, there were basically four interior pass rushers in this entire draft: S. Thomas, J. Allen, and M. McDowell. That’s it. Period. Everybody else was a “could offer a little bit of pass rush from the inside if he develops” kind of guy.

So we got one of them. Premium skill, 2nd round.

      • Kendo

Who do you have as the fourth interior pass rusher in this draft?

  263. vrtkolman

    Vikings get their AP replacement.

  264. Coleslaw

Latavius and Cook? Great pick to replace the best runner of all time

  265. Ed

    Saints going Bowser or Obi

  266. Misfit74

    Fusue Vue:
“My comparison for Zay Jones is a poor man’s Robert Woods”
“The Bills replace Robert Woods with Robert Woods”

    Haha, my sentiments exactly.

  267. CharlieTheUnicorn

I’m not liking the Panthers draft so far… over drafting guys

    • Ed

Agreed. Who cares if you get a few more weapons, CN has not time to throw and when he does, it’s wide right

      • CharlieTheUnicorn

I thought the defense was more the problem than offense. They took a step back last year.

  268. SheHawk

OK warming up to McDowell — when is JS gonna make his move back up??

  269. Volume12

Did me an jujus just become best friends? YUP!

    • jujus

      WANNA GET MATCHING BUNKBEDS???!?!?

      • Volume12

        For so many activities?

  270. CharlieTheUnicorn

Bears at 45 will trade with Seahawks : Bold Prediction

  271. Derron James

    Nice pick for the saints

  272. Volume12

    Dammit!

Love that pick for the Saints.

    • Rowdy

      Who

    • Derron James

      I know Marcus Williams uncle

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      Having a solid draft

      • Derron James

His name is Mike Williams he told me because I’m known him for a long time at Ralph’s and he told me when the combine was going on when I saw him…

        • Volume12

          That’s awesome bro.

  273. Derron James

    Joe mixon I bet

  274. Misfit74

Saints take another Safety I really like, but it wasn’t Obi.

    Eagles should take Mixon.

  275. Nathan

The run on Safeties has begun, we need to go up and get Obi if we want him.

  276. Mike

if Sherm gets traded..it will be right in here

    • jujus

bro r u a time traveler living in thursday? its over he is a hawk

      • Nathan

        Hahaha.

      • Mike

        I’m counting down the days..

  277. vrtkolman

Why hasn’t Awuzie been drafted yet? It doesn’t make sense.

    • Dlep

      Agree

  278. Volume12

    Philly going Kamara?

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Mixon was linked to them previously

  279. CharlieTheUnicorn

Chiefs at 59 might also be a trade up target for Seattle

  280. Derron James

I bet Obi or awuzie is gonna go idk why

  281. Jusjamn

I hope we stick at 58. I figure they still wouldn’t get Obi if they traded up.

  282. Volume12

I love what the Panthers are doing. Horizontal offense in a pistol offense? They’re gonna be dangerous. Samuel and Run CMC will allow Newton to get the balk out quickly.

    • vrtkolman

Their defense is still great too. They always go good year/bad year. I could see them winning the South this year.

    • Ishmael

I’d love to see those two in a wishbone. Even start running some pistol with Newton and McCaffrey. Going to be fun to watch.

  283. Derron James

    Sidney jones?

    • Derron James

Wow they did I really love that pick

  284. jujus

I still want a defensive end early… Lewis might last till 90…

    • Derron James

      We already got McDowell

  285. CharlieTheUnicorn

    WOW

    Eagles

  286. Nathan

    Awesome crowd tonight.

    • jujus

      only antiFA boos the military

    • CLB

      Great call, Nathan!

      • CLB

On Sidney Jones to the Eagles.

  287. Volume12

    Here comes Sidney Jones? Maybe?

    • Coleslaw

      *bows down *

    • CLB

Sorry – meant to say Volume12 – on the great early call of Sidney Jones to the Eagles.

  288. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Live feed Philli

    *BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO*

  289. BobbyK

Cunningham still available. Great “young LB depth.” If they like/love the DBs available, they could wait for the third and rebuild that defense at all levels. Remember, 7th oldest defense in the NFL last year. One of the youngest offenses. Will be again this year, too.

    • jujus

      Bowser > cunningham imo

      • BobbyK

I don’t think Bowser will make it to our pick. Cunningham might.

      • Ishmael

Word. I’m really not a fan of Cunningham, does very little for me as a player.

    • vrtkolman

That is a massive steal if Cunningham lasts to 58.

  290. Derron James

We need a trade up cmon

  291. nichansen01

    Sidney Jones it is

  292. troy

Wow jones went way earlier than i thought

  293. Misfit74

Nice. Too small for us and yet another team’s CB need filled

  294. CharlieTheUnicorn

    14 picks to go
    (maybe)

  295. Nathan

Looks like the bengals still get Mixon.

  296. John_s

Seahawks need a cool fight song like the Eagles

    • nichansen01

      SEA
      HAWKS

Is a bit lacking in the creativity department

  297. Producehawk

Still three left on Rob’s first tear.

  298. Derron James

I think rams go dan feeney or a DB

  299. vrtkolman

Could you imagine if we land Carlos Watkins or Dalvin Tomlinson as well? This would be the best, deepest D line in football.

  300. Ishmael

Can we put together a package to go up and get Obi?

Happy for Jones that he went that early, was never in play for the Seahawks.

  301. jujus

A run on pass rush is coming…

  302. Derron James

If they take Obi it is war

  303. Producehawk

Stinky Rams. My brothers fav team.

  304. Volume12

I like that pick for Philly.

  305. Derron James

Okay I have to spoil this one the rams took Gerald Everett not sure why but they did…

    • Derron James

      Don’t like the pick

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Is he related to Jim Everett by any chance?

    • nichansen01

      Not Very good pick

  306. EP

Two 3rds and a 6th to move up? Don’t know who with but still gives us 3 more picks today and plenty tomorrow

  307. Misfit74

    Obi
    Awuzie
    Godwin, C. Henderson
    D. Rivers, Bowser, T. Williams
    Moton, Asiata, Siragusa
    Witherspoon
    B. Allen

    Some Seahawks fav remaining

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Obi and Witherspoon are the biggies for me on this list

Bowser also someone to keep tabs on

  308. sdcoug

PLEASE DON’T TIP THE PICKS! spoiling it for others sucks big time

  309. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Rams doing Ram things

  310. vrtkolman

    Rams just blew it. What.

  311. nichansen01

Silly pick for the rams – Gerald Everett

  312. Derron James

I can’t believe Obi and Awuzie is still here

  313. Volume12

    Awful pick for LA. Eww.

I like him, but 2nd round?

    • Ishmael

Kinda like Devin Funchess right? Poor man’s David Njoku? Surely he could have been had in the third?

  314. Aaron

    Rams…lol!!!

  315. Misfit74

Everett will never catch a pass against us. Tiny, Ken-doll hands.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      LOL!

  316. Ishmael

    Everett? Really? Like… I guess?

  317. Derron James

    No trade wow

  318. BobbyK

Too many good players left to feel like we “have” to move up. Bowser, Cunningham, Awuzie, Obi, etc. Why give away a good pick when we could easily get one of those guys (regardless of a specific one).

  319. Derron James

    Damn bears

    • Volume12

      Someone the blog liked?

      • Derron James

        No

  320. Volume12

    Guys. I’m missing 3 picks.

    Who was 39, 40, and 41?

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      maye, samuel and cook

    • Brayden

      39. Marcus maye Jets
      40. Curtis Samuel panthers
      41. Dalvin cook Vikings

      • Volume12

        Thanks guys.

  321. Derron James

    Colts makin moves man 😶

    • jujus

a gm with a brain they must have now…

  322. Mike

Rams must have been convinced Everett wasn’t going to be for them in the 7th..so the took him in the 2nd..

    • vrtkolman

      Lol

  323. coach

I’m saying Quincy Wilson or Witherspoon at cb at 58. Then Jordan Lewis slot cb at 90. I would like that – you get a lot better on defense! Long, fast corner to start outside, one of the best slot corners, and one of the best interior pass rushers in the draft – I like it!

After that, go Asiata to compete for playing time and give depth at G.

    Thoughts?

    Go Hawks!!

    • Derron James

      Rip

    • Volume12

I think u might be spot on.

      • Derron James

        He still might be

  324. Derron James

    Ravens too

  325. Misfit74

Looks like one of my sleepers is gone

  326. nichansen01

    Adam shaheen for chicago

    • RealRhino2

Afraid their first day wasn’t enough to make them a lock for worst 2017 draft, so….

  327. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Damn you RAVENSSSSSSSSSSSSSSsss

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

on the bright side, can;t draft everyone you like LOL

      • Derron James

        Lmao

  328. Volume12

WTF!? These are the 2 TEs that go round 2?

  329. Misfit74

Shaheen. >> Everett “Ken doll hands”

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

This might be worth putting on a sign for when the Rams come to town

  330. Nathan

Geez they’re falling well behind with this tv stuff now.

Bengals on clock, won’t give awya who’s gone, but one out watch list went to the ravens.

    • John_s

I miss the days where the draft was sat n sun and rds 1-3 were all together.

    • Volume12

      Probably Obi.

  331. CharlieTheUnicorn

Bears have officially.. shit the bed this draft

  332. Mike

    6’6″ 278 TE..jeezus

  333. LeoSharp

Love Shaheen he has Gronk potential. Awesome blocker and natural hands.

  334. Derron James

    Bengals doing great too

  335. Trevor

Still lots of great options at 58

    Chidobe
    Daeshon Hall
    Tyus Bowser
    Akhello Witerspoon

    • Derron James

      No morenquincy noo

  336. nichansen01

    Ugh STOP SPOILING PICKS

    • Nathan

Who got spoiled, the only names I’ve seen have already been on TV.

  337. Producehawk

This round is taking longer than yesterday.

  338. Volume12

    Great pick by Indy.

Hooker and Q? They rebuilt that secondary.

  339. troy

I know their is options still on but dissapointed that they have not traded up, they have 4 3rd round picks and the players at the 4th are NOT gonna be the same quality as the top 50…please JS

    • troy

      their = there, 4th = 3rd

  340. Misfit74

Quincy to Colts. Him and Hooker. Good for them

  341. CharlieTheUnicorn

Colts filling needs…… might make playoffs if they keep this up.

  342. nate dogg

i really like the pick. He said he’s motivated about the questions of his motor. He’ll crush in SEA. I’m calling 7 sacks for the guy. We’re good on the DL for years. Nice mix of young and old. Our DB is only as good as the pass rush allows. Too many times, we saw a passer with too much time. I think we trade up about 7-10 spots now to get Awuzie, Bouser or Obi. Not rebuilding, just reloading.

  343. Derron James

They need to speed up the process lol

  344. Derron James

    Tyus bowser

  345. Volume12

Love the pick by B-more too.

  346. nichansen01

    Ravens having an excellent draft

    • BobbyK

Imagine that. Ravens with a great pick.

  347. Misfit74

Damn you, NFL Draft: I WANT OBI NOW RIGHT NOW

    Bowser to Ravens. Good pick

  348. Derron James

feeling good now that Obi will make it too us

    • Ed

      Did you jinx Hawks?

  349. Derron James

    Redskins didn’t make a pick I like

  350. Misfit74

Bengal maybe a DE or OL

  351. Nathan

Bucs on the clock, have a bad feeling we lose another one here.

    • jujus

buc lost bradley mcdougald so obi might fall here…

  352. Ishmael

Fantastic draft for the Colts. Such a shame they’ve already wasted so much of Luck’s career.

    • Mike

we see them in week 4 I believe…

      • Ishmael

Going to be an exciting game. Hooker and Wilson is a HUGE boost to that secondary.

  353. BobbyK

Cunningham, Obi, Awuzie… all still available. Don’t need to trade up until only one of those guys are available.

  354. Volume12

    Whoa!

    Perfect fit though.

  355. Derron James

I’m praying Tampa doesn’t take a DB even though I’m so sure they will

  356. nichansen01

    Joe mixon is a bengal

  357. Nathan

Felt bad for Munoz having to announce that pick.

  358. RealRhino2

FWIW, I don’t like Ramczyk, but love what Saints have done in their DB corps with Lattimore and Marcus Williams. MW probably 2nd-best pure “centerfielder” safety in the draft.

  359. nichansen01

    Buccs take Obi

    • Derron James

I hope u didn’t spoil it and I hope ur wrong I think they would take chidobe tho

      • Nathan

He didn’t, I’ve seen the pick and it’s not him.

        • BobbyK

          Not Obi?

          • Nathan

No, Obi, is still on the board.

    • BobbyK

Really? I’m two picks behind then?

      • Nathan

        Yeah, Broncos on clock now.

    • nichansen01

      that was just a prediction

      • Nathan

        right position, wrong player.

  360. CharlieTheUnicorn

Shocker……. Bengals take guy with character problems

    • BobbyK

      No doubt.

  361. SheHawk

Where are our hawks moving up to grab our SBD guys? Bowser is gone….. but the force is strong and we will get our man — OBI maybe Chidobe we still have good guys but am shocked we havent made our move back up yet

  362. Derron James

I think we need to trade up soon with Detroit Tampa bay miami and Oakland waiting there

  363. Aaron

Bengals are one of those cultures that would take a chance on Mixon. Great talent if he can be smart off the field.

  364. Ishmael

Classic Bengals. Trash organisation. They’re welcome to it.

  365. Misfit74

Great pick, Bengals. L. Bell 2.0 in same division. Best RB in draft.

  366. coach

Who do you like better at 58:

Obi, Awuzi, or Witherspoon and why?

    Go Hawks!

    • BobbyK

      I think I like Cunningham.

    • Grant G

Awuzi, for me. I want a guy ready to come in and start Day 1 on the other side of Sherm

    • Ishmael

Obi or Awuzi. PC can work with ‘less’ talented guys out on the boundary. Can find someone later, put them into the production line. They’ve never felt the need to have a great corner opposite Sherman before.

  367. Volume12

Is Washington working a trade here?

  368. Ehurd1021

    Rooting for Mixon.

Hope he continues to do all the right things and has much success.

  369. Volume12

Witherspoon, Obi, Awuzie, Moreau still out there. Richmond’s David Jones too.

    Asiata, Moton.

  370. Aaron

Hawks gonna trade up or no???

    • Nathan

Falling nicely for us at this point.

The only danger is someone jumps ahead of us and gets our guy.

  371. vrtkolman

Ryan Anderson seems like a reach.

  372. Volume12

This draft for Washington screams Scot McCloughan.

    • Sea Mode

      All Alabama draft?

    • Trevor

I was just going to post that Vol.

They fired him but used his board for sure.

      • Volume12

        Exactly.

  373. Trevor

    Bengals with Ross and Mixon

    Indy with Hooker and Wilson

    SF with Thomas and Foster

These 3 teams are killing the 2017 draft so far!

    • Hogmauly

And the Browns with Myles, Peppers, and Njoku. Not to mention picking up an extra 1st next year.

  374. nichansen01

    Woah woah… Obi is plummeting…

    • peter

not a “big” hitter, not a cover corner. Awesome athlete but many probably view him as a tweener of sorts. Still think he makes a metric ton of sense in Seattle.

      • Misfit74

        +1

“metric ton of sense for Seattle”

    • CHawk Talker Eric

There’s a lot of talent still on the board.

      • BobbyK

Yep. That’s why we don’t have to trade up. Keep all those picks.

    • BobbyK

Maybe he doesn’t “love” football? Something isn’t right. He’s a good tackler. Great size. McDowell doesn’t seem to love football either though.

  375. Derron James

Broncos took a guy I like and also good pick for Tampa

  376. vrtkolman

This is making me re-think Obi.. if he’s falling behind guys like Justin Evans I’m questioning why.

    • Matt

Instincts. That was my issue with him. Just looked really unnatural reading/reacting.

    • peter

dont lose faith. Evans is a natural looing safety. Russell wilson fell behind RGIII and that worked out.

    • Ishmael

He’s a different cat. And teams don’t know what to do with him as a player.

      • CHawk Talker Eric

        This

  377. SheHawk

FWIT – female point of view – Joe Mixon non starter to start but not surprised Bengal grabbed him given their culture. However I feel same thing applies to the CB from Michigan – Lewis — There is no such thing a ” a little choking” often choking used to control and terrorize someone -since it can be done in a way that doesn’t leave marks …. So given I have come out opposing him — likely we pick him but FYI Seattle as a city doesn’t tolerate that kind of bad behavior

PS – NFL HUGE hypocrites when it comes to their policies on domestic violence — they are so inconsistent and running their little ads. Women are the fastest growing audience for NFL but their stance is just a complete sham… Seahawks luckily set a higher standard

    • peter

      agree BTW

    • Ishmael

The Seahawks lead the pack when it comes to hypocrisy, it’s disgraceful quite frankly.

      • Joshua Smith

What?! How? Why are you even a fan if you believe that?

      • Just a guy

        nonsense

    • Joshua Smith

I like how you pretend like domestic violence is a gendered issue.

  378. Volume12

    TB gets their roadrunner.

Good for them. I was torn on him though.

    • Sea Mode

Would have loved to see what he could become with a couple years under PC’s wing though.

  379. troy

TB takes the hard hitting Justin Evans

  380. Derron James

Please chill Cleveland Detroit Oakland and Houston

  381. Misfit74

Dodged a bullet when TB took Justin Evans instead of Obi. /whew

  382. Nathan

    Browns on clock now.

  383. Ishmael

Evans is overrated IMO, not worried about him.

  384. Joshua Smith

    Trey Wingo is insufferable

    • jujus

i like him but im not hearing him.

  385. Nathan

This is who picks before us:

    52. Browns Via Titans
    53. Lions
    54. Dolphins
    55. Giants
    56. Raiders
    57. Texans
    58. Seahawks

    • BobbyK

      Thanks.

    • Grant G

Small trade up anywhere? I worry about DB depth

    • Misfit74

Most worried about Detroit. And Oak. And Texans.

  386. Derron James

I think Obi or Awuzie is gonna happen though

    • Derron James

      To the hawks that is

  387. jujus

Really like the fit for the broncos fit

  388. Mike

we need a run on kickers right here..

  389. LeoSharp

Obi’s 4 years in college is really working against him.

    • BobbyK

      Didn’t for King.

      • LeoSharp

King only played 2 years at CB, the rest at safety. CB’s are generally more valuable players, picked higher higher and paid more.

    • Volume12

No. He was never a lock for the 1st round. Was always an early 2nd. That was his ceiling I mean.

  390. Nick

Do they go Tim Williams? Double down on first round talents on the DL?

    • BobbyK

I love defensive line depth. No problem with a pass rusher at all.

  391. Misfit74

If we get Obi (or to a lesser degree, Awuzie) along with McDowell this draft is a success.

    • Coleslaw

Definitely, we could possibly get Tim Williams and Asiata too

    • peter

agreed. I’ve got a slight prefernce but I’d love either.

And thus the pick will be Cunningham!

      • Volume12

I’d take Cunningham here for Seattle. Runs like a deer.

        Didn’t like him as a 1st.

  392. Volume12

Could Antonio Garcia be a dark horse candidate for the Seahawks? Or does he go here to Denver?

    They need a DT. Wormley?

  393. nichansen01

    Please no Antonio Garcia

  394. Eburgz

OBI/Awuzie or bust for me too guys

  395. nichansen01

I want CARLOS WATKINS at 58… or OBI

    • Derron James

      We already got our rusher

  396. jujus

I actually really like the browns draft so far this last pick could work who knows.

    • peter

The browns if you’re scoring at home are really turning that organization around. It’s slow going but it’s going.

    • Nathan

If it works out they’re winning the division in a couple of years.

    • Misfit74

Garrett, Njoku, Peppers, Kizer and a ton of added picks. They’re doing it right.

      • peter

        +1

  397. Derron James

Wow Cleveland finally did what they were supposed to do hint hint

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…. oh wait….
      YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

      • Derron James

        Lmao

  398. nichansen01

Demarcus Walker is off the board

  399. Misfit74

    Walker, FSU, to DEN. Sweet.

  400. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Broncs reloading the DL

  401. Ishmael

Far out. Another great pick for the Donkeys. They’re having a fantastic draft.

  402. Coleslaw

Damn, a little sad, but we got McDowell So no love lost

    • Volume12

      He don’t fit a one gapping 4-3.

  403. Eburgz

Demarcus Walker off the board. guess he would have been redundant with McDowell.

  404. Volume12

That’s a great fit for Denver.

Walker is much more suited for a 3-4.

  405. Derron James

I have a prediction that Seattle may try to trade back into the bottom of the second round again

  406. Misfit74

Trade up for Obi now, please.

    Obi
    Awuzie
    Godwin
    J.Lewis

    5 picks until ours.

  407. Derron James

Yes I think we are good I have to say that the lions took one of the most overrated players IMO

  408. Nathan

Lions pick is in, Dolphins on clock.

  409. vrtkolman

    Poor Cleveland.

  410. Aaron

Browns take Kizer…lol!!! Browns still being Browns

  411. Misfit74

Lions didn’t blow it for us.

  412. Derron James

I’m feeling so happy rn idk how people aren’t going after Awuzie or Obi

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      Their names are coming soon

    • peter

a lot of teams still think a 3-4 is the best defensive front and don’t know what the heck a nickel corner is? jk

    • Volume12

      Don’t tip.

  413. Del tre

Browns are having an awesome draft!!

  414. Misfit74

C’mon Dolphins. You need a LB, take Cunningham.

  415. Ed

Detroit might stay home and go Wormley or Lewis

  416. Derron James

I think if Obi and Awuzie is there we take Obi and try to come back and get chidobe before the cowboys possibly

  417. Derron James

    Good dolphins are chillin too

  418. C-Dog

Garrett, Peppers, Njoku, Kizer. Love what the Browns are doing.

    • peter

plus the extra picks? pretty nice weekend they are having

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

I think, despite their best efforts, they are having a solid draft for the first time in… 10 years+

    • Volume12

Yeah. He’s good value here. Can sit and learn.

  419. Ishmael

Kizer does have serious talent, fantastic specimen. Hu Jackson is a top notch coach, way better than that absolute creep Brian Kelly.

    • peter

      that dude is the creepiest

      • Volume12

        Can’t stand him either. Weird-o.

      • Ishmael

He’s everything that’s wrong with college football.

        • Volume12

          Well said. He really is.

    • C-Dog

      Massive creep

  420. Nathan

    Dolphins have picked, raiders up.

    • Ed

Raiders trade with Giants, probably corner

    • Derron James

LETS GOO I have a great feeling but I think the raiders will take Awuzie or Obi though I just know it

    • Derron James

      😶 so scared

    • Nathan

Sorry no, giants still to go.

  421. Derron James

We are definitely getting one of the two IMO so smart that they didn’t trade up yet

    • peter

      Honestly I hope both.

  422. drewdawg11

    Please let’s get Obi

  423. vrtkolman

Land a DB and then trade up for Tim Williams.

  424. Misfit74

Giants should take a LB…massive need

  425. Ishmael

What are people seeing in Cunningham? He’s soft. Needs to be kept super clean, like a really cut price KJ Wright.

    • peter

He was 90 percent of Vandy’s d. I agree with you but 16 tfl? not bad

    • Volume12

      Runs like a deer. Competitive.

He has to go to a team that will keep him clean.

      • peter

        true about keeping him clean.

      • Ishmael

Yeah that’s what I’m saying. I think he needs to go to a very specific team. The Rams maybe, the Dolphins, the Jets. Honestly, the Hawks would probably be an okay fit. He’s just not my kind of player.

  426. Derron James

Raiders are prob going after chidobe

  427. Misfit74

Raiders need a MLB badly…maybe that’s what they do. Cunningham or Raekwon

    • Derron James

      Cunningham if they take one

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      Cunningham and Williams perhaps

  428. Derron James

Dang a guy I liked went to the giants but we are still good!

  429. John_s

    Cody Kessler > Deshone Kizer

Out of the top QB’s I had Kizer at the bottom

  430. Derron James

    #teezisoverrated

  431. CharlieTheUnicorn

Raiders on the clock according to radio, but NFL.com is 3 picks behind 🙁

    • jujus

raiders are not making nice with seahawks fans…

  432. Nathan

    Giants have picked.

  433. Volume12

Don’t like that pick for Detroit, but they did get Jarrad Davis. He’ll be comfortable there.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Yeah I don’t get that

  434. Volume12

    No one tip our pick.

  435. C-Dog

Obi, Awuzie, Asiata, Cunningham, Jourdan Lewis. Some players sitting there

  436. CharlieTheUnicorn

Chiefs are a prime trade up target for Seattle….. and their 3rd round picks

    • Derron James

      I agree

  437. Volume12

Good fit for Miami. I liked him.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

maybe 3rd round, not second round

  438. Derron James

I think McMillan isn’t bad but eh

  439. SheHawk

I bet no one willing to let us trade up Otherwise we would have — Other teams probably have a few players they really like in round 2 and luckily for us — they are spreading things arounds ….so we still have SBD guys out there — my bet is JS is trying to go up and price too high

    • Derron James

Could be right but knowing them I don’t think so.

  440. C-Dog

    McMillian over Cunningham, interesting

  441. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Seattle trades down! (j/k)

  442. Ishmael

“Raekwon Da Chef!” – Me and literally everyone else watching

    • TCal

lol that’s what I said on my couch!

    • Volume12

Wu Tang clan ain’t nuthin’ to f**k wit!

      • Volume12

        I miss dudes.

  443. Volume12

One of my favorite players in the entire draft goes to NY.

    This years Jarran Reed.

    • C-Dog

Yup. I really like that pick for them.

    • Ishmael

Just another stud Alabama lineman. Really good player.

  444. C-Dog

Tomlinson is a great pickup for the Giants

  445. Derron James

Please don’t make me mad raiders I beg u

    • Derron James

      Lol

  446. Ed

Anyone figure out how the PC clues led to MM?

    • nichansen01

      I sure haven’t

    • BobbyK

He is as tall as a mountain.

  447. nichansen01

Raiders about to screw the Seahawks over I think

    • peter

      there’s literally no way….!

  448. BobbyK

I would imagine the Texans will try to trade down. After all, they don’t have picks in the first two rounds next year. Gotta try to do something to get a pick for ’18, right? Or does their GM and coach go “all in” for now because they know for a fact they won’t be around to not have picks next year if they lose this year?

  449. Nathan

Someone just got snatched from us.

    It’s gonna be a disappointment.

    • BobbyK

      Who?

      • Nathan

Check Aaron wilson on twitter, I won’t ruin it for everyone yet.

    • Volume12

I know that Houston loved Obi.

  450. nichansen01

    Let’s take Tim Williams…

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Word is NOS want to trade up for an EDGE.

  451. glassmonkey

    Fudgems.

  452. CharlieTheUnicorn

Dalvin is a bad looking dude

  453. Ed

    Raiders need DL/LB. Cunningham/Willis

  454. Isaac

I think that video helped me climb back off the ledge. That was really interesting and helps me understand why the hawks wanted him.

  455. CharlieTheUnicorn

    F U Raiders

    • BobbyK

      ?

    • Derron James

      Damn it duck the raiders

  456. Jesse James

Oakland swoops Obi to pair with Karl Joseph, damnnnnn we were so close

    • peter

      That’s the thing about waiting….

  457. Producehawk

    William brown stalling lol

  458. nichansen01

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    RAIDERS TAKE OBI

    WHYYYYYYYYY 🙁

  459. CharlieTheUnicorn

    F U Texans

    • BobbyK

      Who’d they take?

      • Dan

        Cunningham. I liked him too

  460. BobbyK

    Yeah. That sucks.

  461. Misfit74

    FML

  462. Volume12

    Love the pick Oakland.

    Him and Karl Joseph? Wow!

  463. nichansen01

    I HATE THE RAIDERSSSSSSS

  464. vrtkolman

I don’t think Obi was in play after visiting 4 times. Seattle would have taken him with their first pick otherwise. The fact that he fell so far is worrying. Awuzie please!

  465. Ishmael

Oh FFS. Just had to trade up a slice. Ah well, Awuzie?

  466. Darth12er

    Nooooo I’m gonna cry

  467. Derron James

    Why raiders

  468. C-Dog

Dang, I think that hurts more than Bolles to Denver. Good for the Raiders.

  469. Misfit74

If Seattle liked him as much as we do, we wouldn’t have waited. Guessing they have someone else in mind.

    • Grant G

I think that’s fair. They had every chance to go get him. I think they move around next round, too

  470. nichansen01

ALL WE NEEDED WAS TO MOVE UP THREE SLOTS

    THREEEEEEEEE

    DRAFT DAY TRADGEDY

    • Rowdy

Story of are draft so far

      • GerryG

I hate this draft so far

        • Grant G

We have 1 player. Slow. Your. Roll!

  471. Ed

Awuzie and Jones would be a dream.

  472. peter

Folks if it’s Awuzie it’s gonna get real nice…Tim Williams maybe?

  473. Aaron

I was high on Obi until I really thought about it hard. Awesome athlete but does he have that dawg mentality? I don’t think so and that’s why the Hawks don’t need him. McDowell has that dawg mentality, and I sure hope our next pick does too.

    • Rowdy

Is that dog mentality quiting in a fight ?

    • GerryG

      Lazy dog

    • Ishmael

What? McDowell rolled over on his back as soon as things got tough.

  474. nichansen01

TIM WILLIAMS TIM WILLIAMS TIM WILLIAMS

  475. C-Dog

My bet is that Seattle moves down.

    • C-Dog

      My bad. Pick is in.

  476. SheHawk

Finally we see — perhaps a name we know please someone we like???

  477. Poko

    I’m crying

  478. Derron James

    Texans u suck

  479. nichansen01

    Zachary Cunningham to Houston

  480. Mike

    Obi..waist bender..heavy legs..never liked him.. ;<)

  481. Derron James

It’s all good tho we get Awuzie hopefully

  482. Volume12

Cunningham is a perfect fit for Houston.

    • peter

      yep

  483. CharlieTheUnicorn

Awuzie and Witherspoon both in ply imo

  484. Hawksince77

    so who’s left? Awuzie? Williams?

  485. Ed

    Awuzie/Lewis/Jones/Willis/Williams

  486. Hawksince77

    Let it be Awuzie…

  487. vrtkolman

If no DB here, I guess it was true that JS didn’t like this DB class. Unless they are waiting for the 3rd. Lots of talent here still, like Awuzie.

  488. Derron James

    Commercial

  489. Hawksince77

Seattle’s on the clock – time for commercials!

  490. nichansen01

    Awuzie or maybe Witherspoon?

  491. John_s

Obi is going to the perfect team. Norton is going to get on his butt and put that dawg in him.

  492. LeoSharp

I would hate awuzie as the pick.

    • Derron James

      Why?

    • peter

really blitzes, tackles, covers..what’s not to like

  493. Derron James

Please just don’t make it Davis Webb lmaooo

    • peter

      you’re cut off!/jk

  494. Volume12

    Come on!

Every time we pick they go to a damn commercial.

  495. Nathan

    Just saw our pick.

    • Derron James

      U like?

      • Nathan

        Not really.

        No-one will see it coming.

      • Vista

        I don’t

  496. CharlieTheUnicorn

    :O

    shocker

  497. Del tre

    We have blown it.

    • Matt

Horrible. Tom Cable and the OL drafting is going to ruin what could heave been a dynasty.

      • Del tre

Yeah just ugly all around this draft.

      • Eburgz

        agree

  498. Matt

    Puke

  499. Derron James

    I see it

  500. peter

    just saw it already

  501. C-Dog

Tim Williams ,Awuzie, Asiata, Witherspoon.. gonna be interesting

  502. Volume12

    Motion, Gsarcia, Asiata, Pocic?

    Or a DB?

    • Nathan

      One of those names.

  503. Derron James

Damn is all I have to say

  504. Derron James

Don’t like it are u joking lmao

    • Derron James

      Please prove me wrong

  505. Volume12

    Yes sir!

    • Joshua Smith

I agree with you. The pick is fine. I may be the only one though lol.

  506. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Witherspoon CB target in 3rd

  507. nichansen01

    HORRIBLE PICK.

  508. Rowdy

    Who is it?

  509. C-Dog

Ethan Pocic. Wow. Did not see that coming

  510. Blueshawk

    wtf

  511. Ed

That means Britt is gone next year.

    • Rowdy

We knew he was gone they don’t pay olinemen

  512. troy

A CENTER WHEN WE ALREADY HAVE A STARTER AND BACK UP WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING !!!

    • Derron James

      He can play guard

      • jujus

They announced him as a tackle

        • Kendo

A tackle with T-Rex arms? Joe Thomas has been successful but I think we should not let the exception to the rule be the standard.

  513. Forrest

    Really?

  514. GerryG

    W

    T

    F

  515. Volume12

They had to go O-line. Had to.

Sorry if it wasn’t a TEF dude. But he’s versatile.

    • peter

Versatile how? How does Seattle need more competition at the one spot that works? How does a team full of guards and cast off tackles need more guards and another center?

  516. vrtkolman

    Ummm.

  517. Derron James

Hill we will trade up and get a CB

    • Derron James

      Chill*

  518. Ishmael

    UHHHHHHHH….

So Britt’s gone next year. Jesus.

  519. nichansen01

    WE TOOK A JUSTIN BRITT

    WHAAAAAATTTTT

    • Derron James

      Can play guard

  520. drewdawg11

This draft is really strange. Not sure about this.

  521. Aaron

Hmm…………..hedge against Britt and possible replacement for Britt. My favorite center in the draft, but can also play guard. NFL comp is Unger, who started at guard and then became a pro bowl center. If Britt is too expensive then we got his replacement.

  522. Poko

    ???????????????????????????

  523. CharlieTheUnicorn

    See ya later Joey Hunt

  524. peter

    Real talk.

Rob Staton I have appreciated your staunch desire for cooler heads to prevail when discussing the Oline. I can not be soothed this time. This pick is hot trash. There is no spin to this. When you have Hunt already and your only good player on the Oline is your center you do not pick a center.

    • Volume12

      Why?

He’s a total Seahawk pick. Outta left field. Versatile.

Him and McDowell come from big boy schools.

      • peter

What does being versatile have to do with it? Seriously in what way does he improve the line?

    • jujus

calm down they announced him as a TACKLE

  525. Volume12

Britt ain’t coming back. I don’t think so.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Jake Green called him a tackle. I bet it was written that way on the card.

      • Volume12

He can play OT or C. Either way they had to get an O-lineman. Had to.

    • C-Dog

Maybe start Pocic out at guard like they did Kevin Mawie?

  526. Ryan

This team’s absolute inability to simply draft the best player available is amazing.

  527. Rowdy

Worst draft ever pc/js so far

    • Hawks22Fun

      agreed

    • Joshua Smith

Lol wait for it to play out. Ifedi looks like the worst based off his rookie season. Lets just wait and see.

  528. nichansen01

Like can someone explain this to me? Taking a center?

    • Derron James

      He can play guard

    • Misfit74

C in college, but projects well to Guard.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

He might be picked up for a LG or RG spot….. and can play C if they lost Britt to injury

  529. C-Dog

Can’t wait to hear what PC/JS have to say. Maybe have the dude play guard, or switch Britt back to guard? He’s a good player.

  530. Derron James

    Don’t like the chiefs pick

    • Vista

Their pick was a reach and I am guessing the Hawks pick was a freak out pick

  531. CharlieTheUnicorn

Able to play C or LG…. and RG

  532. Misfit74

I’ve seen a lot of folks really rave about Elfein, but Pocic is a better athlete, and certainly a candidate to start a OG right away. Big surprise.

I guess we stick with our CB trends after all…

  533. Hawks22Fun

    I literally FEEL Betrayed…WTF??? who?

They must just WANT to lose/decline… GeeZus

    • Hawks22Fun

Why do we Even bother??? This is HORRIBLE.

a LAZY DT, and now a replacement for Britt? the ONLY solid O Lineman we have??? WTH?

  534. Eburgz

    Scrub OL. Sick…

    • Joshua Smith

All-SEC last year, number 3 center in PFF’s rankings.

  535. HawkTalker #1

That just blew my mind, what a dumbass pick

  536. Ishmael

Are they going to put Britt back at centre to fight it out with Glow? I have no idea what they’re thinking. One of my least favourite picks of the entire draft so far.

    • Volume12

‘People won’t like this draft’- V12.

      • C-Dog

        I love this draft

      • Ishmael

Man you called it, you really did. I’m shook tbh. I don’t like this draft at all for us.

    • Coleslaw

      Worst pick of the draft

      • Coleslaw

Ok nevermind Chicago holds that, but when there are still so many O liners left? Not a value pick, a need pick, a reach I’d say

    • Misfit74

I think Britt stays at Center and Pocic plays Guard.

Britt has a big FA deal coming, and it would be tough decision to pay up and retain him.

  537. Coleslaw

Well.. now we wait till 90? We need to trade up for Awuzie. Get some star power. Pocic is underwhelming.

    • HawkTalker #1

That was an understatement about underwhelming. Ridiculous pick.

  538. nichansen01

    Ughhh i hate this pick

  539. John_s

Did Jacob Green announce him as a tackle?

    • Vista

He might have, I was too pissed to listen to it

  540. Misfit74

    nfldraftscout:

“12/19/16 – 2016 ALL-SEC FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): C Ethan Pocic, LSU,…As one of the top offensive linemen in LSU’s history, Pocic started all 11 games for the Tigers in 2016, with 10 starts coming at center and one at right tackle. He led all LSU offensive linemen in total snaps played (680), knockdowns (92), and “great effort” plays (33). He had double-digit knockdown blocks in four games, including having a season-high 14 knockdowns in a win over Texas A&M, allowing just one sack all season. – LSU Football”

    • AlaskaHawk

He sounds pretty good. I like high effort linemen. The problem is that the Seahawks are need tackles. So maybe Pocic will be tried as a tackle in preseason. If he doesn’t make it there they could look to move him inside. It sounds like he could outblock two of the current starters.

  541. GerryG

Secondary is aging and declining…and injured. Best secondary draft in years, maybe a generation. Why not just neglect it and draft an underachiever and OL I’ve never seen a word about anywhere, who plays center, the only competent spot on your OL.

    Hello 2013 draft.

    • Ed

Don’t disagree to a degree, but both players are actually highly talked about. DT can be Aaron Donald and OL can be Unger. If they hit, great. But yes, pretty crazy

    • AlaskaHawk

Totally agree Gerry. It isn’t that the players selected wouldn’t be useful if they become starters. It is that this is an opportunity to totally change the Seahawk secondary from great to elite. Two really good picks for cornerback or safety, and it would rebuild the secondary. KC picked one of the guys we talked about right after our Pocic pick.

I see it as a missed opportunity. Hopefully these two guys will develop, we can always use more support on the line.

  542. CHawk Talker Eric

Baffling choice with Awuzie and Williams still available.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Or Moton or Asiata or Dawkins or Johnson or Feeney…

  543. Hawksince77

Maybe Britt plays RT, Pocic at center. Something like: Joeckel/Glow/Pocic/Ifedi/Britt

    • AlaskaHawk

I was thinking that too. Then realized that Britt would be on his last year. So if he develops into a good tackle, Seahawks would either have to pay him lots, or he would walk in free agency. Either thing would suck unless we were sure he could handle the tackle job.

  544. jujus

Some of you are INSUFERABLE!!!! HE IS A TACKLE BASED OFF HIS DRAFT CARD.

  545. Isaac

Does anyone have the list of people the hawks brought in for interviews or private work outs?

  546. Josh emmett

Hahaha, doesn’t seem like anyone had a good read on what the Hawks are up to this year.

    • Volume12

Nope. It was all over the place. Great job by them.

    • Rowdy

I’m not sure the Hawks know what there doing either

      • Ehurd1021

        Wow.

  547. Forrest

I don’t dislike the player, but the timing seems really off.

  548. Volume12

    They don’t draft DBs early.

    This draft proves it.

    • HawkTalker #1

It’s probably past time they get over that ignorance

      • AlaskaHawk

Ha , Ha, best comment of night!

  549. Derron James

    I actually like the pick

  550. nichansen01

I really don’t get it. A center? Where does he play? We already have two centers.

I don’t get this at all.

Seeing Obi go and then this

    Punch in the gut

    • vrtkolman

      Obi was never in play.

  551. Sea Mode

    Welp… whatever.

    Pocic, 6060, 310, 33.125 arm, 10.125 hand, 80.25 wing, 5.15 40yd, 1.85 10yd, 4.81 SS, 7.89 3C, 26 bench, 27 vert, 8.92 broad

    2.81 TEF
    87.03 wTEF

  552. Kendo

    WTF?! WTF is all…

  553. SheHawk

I am really questioning everything now — weird Chidobe was there — even Assiata if we needed OL for god sake but a center??? Seriously wow super disappointed.

We are scary right now Last night thought we were brilliant Now its just all too cute too fancy trying to outsmart folks — why not just take Williams or Chidobe or anyone that can help us win SB?? bench for the 1 good Oline position we had?!!

  554. BradCanuck

    Should have traded back…

  555. Misfit74

STRENGTHS Five-for-one lineman offering roster flexibility; has played tackle, guard and center. Determined player. Shoots hands inside defenders frame and keeps them there. Shows the hand strength and body control to “ride the bull” against stronger players while remaining engaged. Rapid lateral movement allows him to slide along his gap to pick up blitzers. Pass sets feature adequate base width and solid hand quickness. Fluid combo-blocker who glides easily to his second-level targets with good angles. Patient blocker on second level. Able to wait as long as possible for committing to his block in space. Features good body control and high connection rate on blocks in space. Athletic on pull blocks and screens and able to make blocks well down the field. Smart and makes the offensive calls.
WEAKNESSES Tall for a center, losing some leverage battles because of it. Athletic ability offset by below-average core strength. Doesn’t play with the pad level or leg drive to uproot defenders without help. Gets jarred by power across from him. Upper body strength needs work. Anchor will always be an issue against zero-technique nose guards. Gives into pocket pushers, creating traffic in the backfield. Defenders able to drive through his edge and redirect attempts. Can be quicker into proper positioning for reach blocks. Has difficulty securing zone blocks at times.
    DRAFT PROJECTION Round 2-3
    NFL COMPARISON Brandon Linder
BOTTOM LINE Flexible, natural athlete with starting experience all along the LSU offensive line. Scouts say Pocic has the intelligence teams look for from a center and is highly regarded by LSU coaches and teammates in the locker room. Pocic is an excellent “work-up” blocker with the ability to thrive in a running game that operates in space, but his lack of power will produce some extremely challenging matchups for him at times.
    -Lance Zierlein

    • TCal

Every early lineman we’ve ever taken was a mauler with size and strength. He doesn’t fit that bill according to this excerpt.

  556. Ukhawk

    Flabbergasted

  557. nichansen01

Seahawks are going to lose their credibility in the draft.

    Absolutely awful pick.

    • Derron James

Actually u are losing your credibility

      • Misfit74

        +1

    • Aaron

While the picks are interesting, they aren’t losing credibility. If the Hawks begin to fall off the cliff, miss the playoffs for a couple years, then MAYBE they’re losing credibility. A high upside DT and the best center in the draft, I’m sure these kind of picks would have gotten Hawks nation ecstatic last year.

  558. BradCanuck

A centre who they see as Tackle. Waaaaaa!! 🙁

    • Volume12

He played tackle though before this year.

    • Mark Souza

With short arms. Last guy we had try that was Justin Britt and it didn’t go so well.

  559. CharlieTheUnicorn

    >:I

    my feeling right now

  560. Josh emmett

Procic can play all 5 positions on the line. Right guard?

  561. Derron James

Did not see this coming but we will see a corner in the third

  562. Misfit74

As if on cue, Awuzie goes to Dallas.

  563. Volume12

He can play RG, RT, LT, and if Britt signs elsewhere? There’s our new C.

And he plays for a school that knows how to run the goddamn ball.

    • C-Dog

I love this pick, and picks. Win. The. Line. Of. Scrimmage.

  564. Hawksince77

It’s so interesting that all of us get so invested in particular players (Awuzie, Baker for me, for instance) that we react poorly when PC/JS doesn’t agree.

    (Crap, their goes Awuzie)

    • Volume12

      Yeah. Can’t do that.

Were their better players on the board? Yep. Was there a more versatile OL? Nope.

  565. Ed

    There goes Awuzie

  566. Derron James

Seattle did miss on Awuzie tho

  567. nichansen01

    Pocic

    And then Awuzie

    SHIT SHOW

  568. Ishmael

Look, he’s a really good centre – best in the draft. But what’s the point of him? All I can really think is that they don’t want to pay up for Britt next year

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Looks like. They just aren’t willing to sink cap space in the OL.

  569. C-Dog

Drew Pearson is a Boss. Great pick for the Boyz

  570. Ryan

    And there goes Awuzie.

  571. Rob Staton

PODCAST NOW LIVE REFRESH THE PAGE!

  572. CLB

When they showed the Seahawks draft room, Pete sidehanded threw a sunglasses case or something on the table – think he really wanted Obi to fall to us, and this was a Cable pick. He probably would’ve preferred a DB. They won’t say it, but he didn’t seem happy throwing something as he was getting up out of his chair, and no hugs or high-fives like with the earlier pick.

Would have much rather seen us get Awuzie, who the Cowboys just got, Lewis or Tankersley, they won’t be there by our late 3s.

  573. Ishmael

    OH FFS

    Now I’m really unhappy

  574. Josh emmett

Build strength in the trenches! Love it so far!

    • Rowdy

      Except he doesn’t add strength

      • peter

he’s just a like for like swap of Seattle’s deepest Oline unit. Center. Awesome maybe three good centers makes a run game?

        • Josh emmett

He is not just a center, he is a versatile young offensive linemen by trade not a project, not a basketball player. Going to be rad. This is how you get the run game going again. Get some competition in there

      • Josh emmett

        Why do you say that?

        • Josh emmett

Adding a versatile young linemen is a great move and builds strength and depth. I’m not talking about the bench press. I’m talking about getting competition there. Awesome

        • peter

Because he’s a center. That’s why. And Britt played pretty well considering the mess around him. And if Britt wasn’t that good what was the point of even drafting the NFL small Joey Hunt?

          • Greg Haugsven

He also played guard and tackle, Seattle loves versatility.

          • Josh emmett

He is not just a center dude. He is listed as a tackle on the draft card

        • CHawk Talker Eric

Some scouts say he lacks core strength and his length/height exacerbates that.

  575. CharlieTheUnicorn

Finally, the draft is going sideways!

  576. Sea Mode

Why do I feel really stupid right now seeing the Cowboys pick Awuzie…?

  577. Nathan

Lol at that trolling of the philly crowd by Drew Pearson.

  578. Ed

    Tankersley/Douglas/Griffin/Wilson/Lewis still available.

    • Volume12

Exactly. David Jones, Brian Allen too.

  579. HawkTalker #1

When towers picks up the start we should have selected. Is there any history for NFL teams picking draft picks out of a hat or throwing darts at a board? Seahawks are a team that can break all the rules

    • HawkTalker #1

Keyboard not working, too much slobber

  580. Derron James

I think we will still get a haul

  581. Hawksince77

The offensive line needs the most work, and it sounds like they actually drafted a very good offensive lineman. Just imagine being able to run the ball effectively, and protect RW. That’s something to root for.

  582. CharlieTheUnicorn

Seahawks select the 5th OL in the 2017 draft… wowza

  583. Derron James

    Love josh jones

  584. peter

Okay I’ll come off the ledge. Maybe Pocic is good. Maybe Pocic is great. Then the counter to all that is this. WTF is going on with wasting pick after pick every year on OLine when what you’re saying is Britt sort of sucks and we won’t resign him after sitting through his crap play, oh and Hunt was another wasted pick sorry folks, but this year we really zeroed in on it?

That’s my problem with the pick. It’s all the other picks that got us to this point. A wasted year for IFedi at Guard and A waste possibly for either Britt/or Hunt

  585. Ed

Dang, there goes Jones. Rebuilding their secondary like the Hawks should have been.

  586. glassmonkey

He would have been there in the 3rd. Seahawks seem to be clueless on value.

  587. CHawk Talker Eric

    Trade for Williams soon?

  588. SheHawk

I commend all of the folks who are remaining calm and staying positive. You have obviously been taking your yoga breathing seriously — I really loved the announcement by Drew Pearson though hilarious and you know the Philly crowd loved showering the boos on that guy!

  589. Josh emmett

I’ll say it again I don’t think anyone here had a handle on what they were going to do. It’s exciting! Haha

  590. vrtkolman

This blog is funny sometimes. Pocic isn’t a sexy pick but it’s a solid pick at a position of dire need. No where near the worst pick in the draft. Lol.

    • peter

      Center is a dire need?

      • vrtkolman

He’s not going to be a center. Listed as a tackle.

    • Rowdy

The team is full of guards, how is this a dire need

      • peter

plus ever player that doesn’t cut it gets a shot at guard so even Joeckel can turn into a guard.

      • nichansen01

We have like 1 backup guard.

    • Eburgz

How does he get on the field? How many guards do we need? Pocic, Glowinski, Abushi, Joekyl. Ifedi is still a guard until he proves he can play tackle in the NFL. Odiambo is probably just a guard too. If Pocic can play right tackle is the only way this pick makes sense to me. I guess let the competition sort it out and the cream will rise to the top?

      • vrtkolman

I might be in the minority, but Glo is a JAG at his best. Otherwise, he’s really bad. I could see Pocic beating him outright.

  591. Misfit74

Going to be Brian Williams round 4/5 after all…

  592. EP

    Surprised Packers didn’t go Kamara

  593. CharlieTheUnicorn

Pocic says he has never talked to Cable… LOL

  594. FuzzyLOgic

    EXCELLENT!!!

Love Mcdowell & Pocic. Build the trenches baby!!

Always thought Obi was overrated as well as many others taken before us. Mcdowell reminds me of Kawaan Short. Build the O-line baby. This WILL pay dividends in the end.

BTW we don’t draft CB’s early. Bank on it.

    • Volume12

Nope. This draft absolutely proved it.

They draft guys the fans dont see coming. Kinda genius.

      • CharlieTheUnicorn

I had thought Procic was in play, but the FA additions lessened my thoughts that he might be in play….. more likely in the 3rd round

    • Greg Haugsven

The foundation of a football team is the lines. I’m good with both picks.

      • peter

Except the foundation of this team is as much ball control as depth on the D which they still don’t have. So you improve the Center spot but you keep rolling out Defenders getting older not younger.

      • Ukhawk

        Good point

    • Aaron

Agreed, Hawks doing what they always do with DBs, draft them in the later rounds. We thought here in SDB that they would go early on DB but, as Rob said, DL was the last minute feeling of the top experts and it happened. Solid draft so far.

  595. Mark Souza

My nick name for McDowell until he proves me wrong is “Lazy Boy.” He’s a recliner.

  596. Coleslaw

We’re waiting for Luani and Rasul Douglas I bet.
    90. Chris Godwin
    95. Vince Biegel
    102. George Kittle
    106. Rasul Douglas
    111. Shalom Luani

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Need to sneak a Qb in there.. how about Webb 😉

      • Coleslaw

If we pick a QB it better be Webb or Chad Kelly, preferably Webb

    • Misfit74

Love a lot of those guys. All but I’m lukewarm on Biegel, who I’ve seen compared to Cassius Marsh (!)

      • jujus

Vince biegel is an amazing athlete vs MArsh lol. That comp is pure RACIST bias

  597. Misfit74

The guys at NDT scouting had some good things to say about Pocic. Say some of the best recovery balance in the class, more length and versatility than Elfien, and that Pocic is technically sound.

    https://www.ndtscouting.com/nfl-draft/watch-ndt-scoutings-live-coverage-2017-nfl-draft/

    • Coleslaw

He sounds a lot like Jack Conklin, but is not Close

    • Volume12

He’s really good. Didn’t think he was a 2nd rounder, but they had to address the O-line.

  598. Derron James

Juju is one of my favorite college football players and hope he does well (USC fan)

  599. EP

Suppose we’ll see if Pocic was a good pick by this time next year. Don’t particularly know what to think. Would really have loved Awuzie or Melifonwu but PC/JS obviously have their own agenda for the draft and I suppose that’s the only one that matters.

    • Volume12

He’s Justin Britt, but better at OT.

  600. Ehurd1021

Is the offensive line really this bad in this class?

For you to be sitting back and having to look for centers to convert to tackle is telling, to say the least, lol. I don’t understand that pick especially at that point in the draft.

  601. Ukhawk

    Test

  602. C-Dog

McDowell and Pocic. Love these picks. Seattle is using the depth of this draft, and committing to the trenches early. Both these guys could be pro bowlers, and ya’ll would be looking back at this day and remembering how bent sideways you were. Go Hawks.

    • Volume12

So glad they went O-line early. I was dreading them not doing it. Thank goodness.

      • C-Dog

Yeah, me to. They had to get OL early.

    • peter

True but Christine Michael and Prich coulda been probowlers…

      • C-Dog

Didn’t like those picks myself, but LOVE THESE ONES!!!!!

    • Trevor

You really think Pocic is going to become a pro bowler?

      • C-Dog

        Sure. Why not?

        • jujus

And he was an OLINEMEN with a running game that SHOVED IT DOWN THROATS

          • C-Dog

            Dang straight

  603. nichansen01

Personally, I think Pocic is a guard for us,

    • C-Dog

You could be right. Probably start him out there. Can’t wait to here what Cable says

    • Greg Haugsven

Probably, also the back up center. So long Hunt

  604. Dale Roberts

So far I hate this draft. I can’t believe they left Melifonwu and Awusie on the board to take Pocic. I did ask Rob about him but I had him pegged as a third or fourth round option. That being said one thing I liked about him is that he played every position on the line.

    • Misfit74

      Obi went before our pick.

      • Ryan

How about, I can’t believe that, with 11 picks, they didn’t use one of them to trade up and make sure they got Obi.

        • Brandon

          Amen, Ryan

  605. LeoSharp

Ethan Pocic is the first olineman who the Seahawks have selected in years who has a really high floor.

    • peter

Since Carpenter you mean? He was actually considered a well regarded tackle guard prospect.

    • peter

Unless the thought is Tom Cable you suck and we’re making your picks for you here on out, then in a strange way I’m almost for it.

  606. Poko

    I cannot understand their thought.Why..?

    • Volume12

He’s versatile, tough, fairly athletic. TC guy. Doesn’t need the accolades, under appreciated. Fournette ran behind this guy all day long. Tough as nails.

      • CharlieTheUnicorn

Battles to the finish… to the echo of the whistle. Gitty.

    • Dawgma

Maybe they finally learned the lesson that their existing method for picking OL sucked and wasn’t working. I’m fine with breaking their pattern, because their pattern produced consistently poor results.

  607. Trevor

Wow Vol 12 I have to give you credit you predicted the Hawks would take guys we would not expect and that we would all be surprised and pissed.

You nailed it! I am used to being surprised by the Hawks picks but almost always come around after digging a little deeper. I have done my work on Mcdowell and at least can see the athletic potential.

Pocic is a typical Seahawks OL pick with Cable at the helm and the reason we have had on of the worst OLs in the NFL 7 years running now. The worst pick in the entire draft IMO. A 2nd round pick in a loaded draft for a guy who is likely a hedge against not being able to re-sign our Center. Wow

I was so excited heading into the Day #2 of the draft and now just feel like it is a bad dream.

    • Volume12

I didn’t want to be right about that though.

      • CHawk Talker Eric

        It’s totally your fault man

        😉

    • Volume12

Remember. Seattle didn’t like this draft!

Everything I heard from their pressers told me they thought it was highly overrated.

      • AlaskaHawk

Not for secondary. Too bad they will be well picked over before the Seahawks pick them. I guess there is always hoping for a fifth round miracle.

    • BobbyK

How is this different than every other year?

    • Eburgz

Didn’t think I could be disappointed with the first two rounds no matter what way they went. I was wrong. Agree about all your points.

  608. CharlieTheUnicorn

27 picks to go, until Seattle grabs another player

  609. Misfit74

Packers took Josh Jones…Dal took Awuzie. Damn. Im envious.

  610. Josh emmett

Love the picks so far! Get that oline and Dline chalked full of competition and whoop some ass!

  611. Misfit74

Jones and King two of my favorite defenders. Nice job, Packers.

    • HawkTalker #1

      +1

  612. Robertlas vegas

He is versatile and his measurements are close to Mitch Morse right

    • Volume12

That’s an excellent comp. Nice man.

  613. Forty20

Damn, the meltdown on here with the Pocic pick makes for some fun reading. Not a fun or flashy pick by any means, especially given we missed out on several SDB darlings, but we have shown a willingness to draft a year ahead for need if the right player is there.

Facts are we have a franchise QB that we need to keep upright – especially after a heart-in-mouth season where he had two serious injuries.

Still plenty of picks to tune up the defence.

    • Trevor

I don’t mind going OL if it was for a guy who can come in and start or help like Bolles, Lamp or Robinson but to take a guy this year to be a backup C / G in this draft class is just bad use of draft capital IMO. If we had taken him with one of the 3rd round picks then fine I get it but now?

It feels exactly like the Britt pick. A reach for a guy Cable likes for some reason. At least with Britt we had a dire need for an RT and there were few other options in that draft.

I just don’t get the Pocic pick. At least with Mcdowell you can see the potential.

      • Hawksince77

Not sure where, but I bet Pocic starts the first regular season game, just based on his profile.

      • Dawgma

He’s a high floor OG, and we had two of the worst in the league last year. If he can be league average, I’ll happily take him.

      • HawkTalker #1

People can say what they want, but I guarantee, guaranteed, guarantee this guy would have been available with a later round pick. Poor draft capital management.

  614. Derron James

    Please do something Seattle

  615. Misfit74

Steelers may as well take my guy Brian Williams now just to get it over with.

  616. Misfit74

Wow. JuJu to PIT. Crazy. That passing offense is going to be unreal. I thought they might go Hodges…JuJu a much better pick.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

don’t they need another TE? Definitely have the WR group stacked now.

  617. CharlieTheUnicorn

I guess I could be a Bears fan right now……. then I might off myself

    • nichansen01

I feel so bad for bears fans. Tragic.

  618. Ishmael

Can’t blame Cable for this IMO. He hasn’t even met the kid.

Trying to talk myself into it, this is the best I can do… Pocic is a very good player. He’s a hedge against Britt leaving, unless they want Britt competing at guard against Glowinski. He’s versatile, can cover multiple spots on the line – a very important thing when the depth is as poor as ours. He’s tough, knows how to get up to the second level, and can control a line that runs the ball.

I still feel a bit sick, it’s like 2013 all over again, but that’s the best rationalisation I can give.

    • Trevor

2013 is a good comp so far.

    • peter

Depth is great and so is versatility. If he’s better than Britt so be it. Then the Britt pic was official crap. Hestly the Oline has zero identity for me other than crappy inconsistent play so another early slate of games watching them bungle around and hope Wilson doesn’t get hurt honestly doesn’t even phase me.

Now not fixing the secondary depth and people saying see they get all these great late DB’s….true until one of them named earl is hurt and then the thing sucks….there’s that.

  619. LLLOGOSSS

Anyone else see Pete toss his phone, get up and kinda pound the table as he left the room?

I think he wanted Obi and they effed it up.

    • Sea Mode

      Missed it. Did he?

      • Volume12

Because JS controls the war room. He can veto any and everything.

        • Coleslaw

If I were Pete and that’s how it went down I would be SO pissed

      • LLLOGOSSS

It was subtle, but yes. They showed it on NFL network, when he kinda flipped his phone on the desk they made a crack about him being done with Candy Crush. Then he got up and kinda lightly pounded the table, not in a good way.

    • Coleslaw

They’re friggin idiots if they wanted him that bad, there’s no excuse for not goinf and getting your guy.

      • LLLOGOSSS

        Friggin idiots

  620. Trenchtown

    Grab em by the Poice!!!!

  621. Sea Mode

Well, at least they got their choice before the 2nd wave on OL started.

  622. Volume12

Thrilled, like C-Dog mentioned, we’re getting back to we used to be. Remember that clue. Someone I used to know?

Oh u mean a team that runs the ball, lets RW scramble around, and gets after the pass rusher in droves? Here. For. It.

    • peter

I appreciate the positivity but really? How is this getting back to what they used to be? This is what they do every year. Pick an oliner and tell us this is the one that’ll fix it and every year it’s the same.

      • nichansen01

You need to pick 5 o-liners to fix it.

      • Volume12

Why? Just because he was the guy no one tallied about?

Was it possible we all overrated some of the blogs favs?

        • C-Dog

          Quite possible

    • Eburgz

Appreciate you trying to talk most everyone off the edge of the cliff. But how does Pocic get on the field in 2017? people are already saying there isn’t room for Glowinski on the line with Abushi and Luke J on the team.

      • Volume12

You let everyone battle it out come TC. The cream will rise to the top, competition will sort the rest, and then ur coaches come in and help those that need it.

  623. Sunhawks

After how many years of PCJS drafts we think we can predict their picks??? They are 100% predictably unpredictable. Don’t fret over it. Seahawks have been annual contenders throughout the PCJS era. Anyway, greatness is not always being perfect… it’s about the ability to overcome whatever you are faced with. Sometimes the ball bounces the other way… sometimes the draft has “your guys” get picked right before your # is called… repeatedly. Clearly Seahawks FO is not afraid to think outside the box. So, maybe a guy listed as “C” is going to be a “G” or even a “T”. We’ll see… and despite knowing that they can do some dumb things sometime (see SB XLIX), I trust PCJS to continue to make Seattle contenders… even if not dominators. Sorry for the rant… just want to walk some fellow 12’s from off the “worst draft ever” ledge.

    • HawkTalker #1

It’s not how you start but how you finish right? Good thing we have a couple seventh round picks.

  624. Derron James

I think Witherspoon or Lewis is gonna come to seattle

  625. nichansen01

We need to add more to the o-line group. Pocic can play anywhere. That’s unique.

Versatile lineman who can compete to start up and down the line and is a great leader.

Could probably be better than Glow, Aboushi, heck even Fant and Joeckel. I think we needed to draft O-line.

Not a sexy flashy pick, but a smart solid one.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

comes from a big time program and has familiarity with pro style offenses…. not bads

      • nichansen01

Run blocked for fournette and guice

  626. Glor

Atl blog site had pocic going to atl in the possible first. Said he was the best lineman in the draft.

    • Volume12

I can’t stress enough how versatile he is. And the best RB to come out in years ran behind him all day.

  627. Saxon

I’m always happy when the Seahawks address the trenches. It is where games are won and lost. With that said, Pocic went a round early and seems like a desperation pick after they were cheated out of Obi.

Third round I expect DB, WR, LB, and Dobbs.

  628. Ehurd1021

Pocic played RT last year at LSU against Southern Miss and LOOKED GOOD. VERY GOOD to be honest.

    Here’s the game – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgRaNIhjnsE

    • Trevor

What pass rushers or DL talent does Southern Miss have?

      • Ehurd1021

Of course. However, if you put this game/film into perspective with his overall talent and accolades at LSU it makes sense to a certain extent. According to his phone interview, he doesn’t even see himself as a C at the next level.

Only time will tell. We’ll see.

    • peter

Southern miss? come on! I’m mostly joking but not quite..

    • jujus

HOW DARE YOU ASSUALT MY MELTDOWN NARRATIVE WITH FACTUAL EVIDENCE!!!! HATE SPEECCCCCHHHH REEEEEEE REEEEEE REEEEEEE /autusticscreeching

Im really disappointed in everyone I thought we were above this kind of collective meltdown.

      IN JS PC I TRUST

      • Josh emmett

Haha, yeah. Seattle doesn’t pick db’s before the 4th round because Carroll can turn any young athletic 32 inch arm football player into a NFL caliber player. Can’t wait for the late round picks and see what he has cooked up!

        • Ehurd1021

Lmao. I was full meltdown mode for awhile until I started to look around social media and began to start realizing that it’s a solid pick according to the pundits lol.

  629. Derron James

    Bye ogunjobi

  630. BobbyK

Whenever we talk about tackles, people won’t allow for it if the tackle has short arms. This guy has short arms and now people are talking about him as a tackle?

He may be a good pick. I don’t know. I’m going to root for him. But I never thought he’d go ahead of some of the guys he did.

Before people hate the pick, just wait until we see who we take with our FOUR picks in this next round. They aren’t going to ignore the defensive backfield.

The only head scratcher is that the Seahawks want to be the bully and he doesn’t seem the “bully” type from what I’ve read (I knew relatively nothing about him a few minutes ago so I’m going to refuse to hate on him one single bit).

    • AlaskaHawk

Somewhere above us there was a paragraph from LSU about him. He knocked a lot of his opponents on their butts, and was a real hustler. They really liked him at LSU.

    • Ehurd1021

Doesn’t Lamp have shorter arms than Pocic?

Pocic didn’t give up a sack all last season; is universally regarded as one of the best OL in LSU history and had something like 20+ knockdown/pancake blocks last year lol. Safe to assume he’s a bully on the O-line.

  631. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Likely picks soon
    RB
    CB, S

    Unlikely picks soon
    QB,WR

    • HawkTalker #1

I think we need to put a back up punter on the top of our draft priorities, just in case . . .

  632. C-Dog

Browns are killing it. They just got My Guy, Larry Ogunjobi. Bravo.

  633. CharlieTheUnicorn

Ifedi – RG, Pocic – RT is the scuttlebutt

    • Rowdy

Doesn’t policy have 33 inch arms. Shouldn’t play tackle

  634. Coleslaw

OBI was our guy….. I’m at a loss for words.. 9 separate picks they could have traded to move up 5 spots…

    • LLLOGOSSS

      Same

  635. Joshua Smith

Emotions are running high right now. I think everyone no matter if you like the pick or not should remember that we are on the same team here.

  636. nichansen01

    Ffffff

    Ahkello Witherspoon is a niner

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      F U NINERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs

  637. Derron James

    Noooo are u joking

  638. Vista

    Why Witherspoon too

  639. Volume12

The 9ers are killing this draft. Impressed as hell.

    • vrtkolman

      Yup. Great pick.

      • HawkTalker #1

Agreed and agreed. They are doing a fantastic job

  640. Ishmael

The Browns are having the best draft of anyone??

    • C-Dog

      Yes

    • peter

      yep

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

49ers are doing a very solid job

  641. C-Dog

Niners get a corner who can’t tackle!!!!

  642. Ishmael

Meh oh Witherspoon. I’ve got no time for players who hate contact. Pick a different sport.

  643. Trevor

49ers, Cardinals are killing this draft!

  644. Derron James

    Do something Seattle

  645. John_s

Niners got their Mike Bennett, Bobby Wagner and their Sherman in this draft

    • vrtkolman

I like Witherspoon but he’s no where close to Sherman as a comp.

      • Del tre

His coverage ability is probably better than Sherman’s was when he came out

        • vrtkolman

Sherman is an alpha dog, Witherspoon is afraid of contact.

        • BobbyK

Had Sherman had better coverage abilities coming out, then he wouldn’t have lasted until the 5th round.

      • Coleslaw

I think he can be very similar to Sherman a few years down the line

  646. CharlieTheUnicorn

Tankersley and Griffin could be in play at #90

  647. LeoSharp

Of the CB’s left I think Shaquill Griffen is the best remaining.

    • DavidinBellingham

      Yes!

  648. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Titans, solid pick

  649. nichansen01

Anyone else think the saints are having an awful draft?

    • vrtkolman

Yes, didn’t like the Ranczyk pick at all. Kamara is pretty meh too.

      • Volume12

        Love the Kamara pick.

        He’s electric. Versatile.

        • nichansen01

He have Ingram and just signed Adrian Peterson

          • Volume12

And Ingram puts the ballnon ground all the time, AP plays how long?

Kamara is just like Run CMC. Returner, can line him up in the slot, jet/fly sweeps.

  650. Coleslaw

Jourdan Lewis is my #1 want. Is Tim Williams still on the board?!?!

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

I think Williams is still available

      • Vista

        He is

      • Coleslaw

        Ok that’s #1

        • CHawk Talker Eric

Lewis and Williams are my 2 hopes

          • swisshawk

Me too. Throw in CB tankersley and I will consider this draft a success.

  651. nichansen01

Tankersley, Watkins, Tim Williams, Jourdan Lewis all still on the board.

    • Derron James

I bet they pick none of them lmaoo

  652. Brandon

Having a hard time not being tremendously down on this draft so far. First two picks, blah. We couldn’t work a trade to move up for Obi? The talent drop off at the beginning of the 3rd round. This sucks.

    • Del tre

Yeah this is a dissapointing draft, seems like they are trying to please fans and analysts

      • HawkTalker #1

I wish you could find a good reason for it.

    • Coleslaw

I really like the McDowell pick, thought they were geniuses up until Oakland took Obi. So dumb of them…

    • Donald

I agree, very disappointing. Especially with Obi going to the Raiders 1 pick ahead of the Hawks.

  653. Sea Mode

Glad the 49ers didn’t get Kamara.

  654. CharlieTheUnicorn

RASUL DOUGLAS, have any of you checked this guy out or have opinion of this CB?

    • LeoSharp

Struggled in press at the senior bowl and played very little press in college. Hard to gauge how good he’ll actually be in Seattle but he has great ball skills.

    • Volume12

Listen to his SR bowl interview. All he talks about his love for competition, wanting to compete, hard worker, great ball skills, decent tackler but aggressive, feet are sloppy, OK slowed but that matter at this point in the draft.

    • Del tre

Decent in coverage, amazing ball skills, 0 ability to press. Best tackling defensive back in the class.

  655. Happy Hawks

Somebody tell me what the strategy is here? Accumulating picks that nobody wants for players that can’t help us? WTF

  656. Sea Mode

Rob celebrating Witherspoon coming off the board in the podcast 🙂

    +1

  657. Sea Mode

Versatility, leadership, intelligence is what they went for in Pocic.

    • Volume12

    • BobbyK

      It certainly wasn’t TEF.

      • Mishima

        RIP TEF

    Omg

The rams keep making horrible picks

  659. CharlieTheUnicorn

    RAMS

    you suck!

  660. vrtkolman

Not gonna lie, this Rams draft has been awful so far.

  661. Sea Mode

    Let’s go get Daeshon Hall.

    • Trevor

      +1

  662. jujus

This meltdown because it doesnt fit your narrative is so sad. WE HAVE 4 PICKS! Coming up.

    • sdcoug

Seriously. All of the sudden everyone here has more info and knowledge than our FO

      • HawkTalker #1

Let people vent. Come on man, picking a Center was a freaking weird pick.

        • jujus

No it wasnt, he can play all positions but LT, he has XP in a power running game? IN THE SEC? what doesnt make sense we cant resign everyone Britt isnt staying past this year.

      • Ryan

It’s not like our FO has drafted well the last few years really. Feels like the trend is continuing IMHO. Trying to be way too clever with their picks instead of letting the draft come to them.

  663. Eburgz

Could have Had Buddha Baker and Chris Wormley…. Lamp and Awuzie. Could have had Obi….

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      Wormley is still available

  664. Sea Mode

Oh, Rams, Rams. At least the 9ers are getting better.

  665. CharlieTheUnicorn

Looks like some good value in RB, CB and S this round

  666. CharlieTheUnicorn

D’Onta Foreman still available at RB…. intriguing

  667. Sea Mode

    Wants for R3:

    Tim Williams
    Daeshon Hall
    Carlos Watkins
    Josh Reynolds
    Cordrea Tankersley
    Jourdan Lewis
    Joshua Dobbs

    • swisshawk

  668. troy

Chidobe went 2 picks after Pocic, if him and King end up being good to great starters, there is no DOUBT that PC/JS blew this draft. I’m not trying to be over dramatic, but I think if those players turn out great it doesnt matter what our picks do. Trying to stay positive but man this is tough to take, no trade up in the 2nd when they could have easily gotten some high level guys for maybe an extra pick. sad.

    • HawkTalker #1

      +1

    • John_s

So if McDowell gets 10 sacks and/or Pocic is an all pro you’d still hate the pick?

      • troy

that would make it sting less but I guess this is the problem of reading the seahawksdraftblog, you fall in love with players and when they aren’t taken I get upset…guess i need to stop reading this website…

        • Coug1990

No. Just have a little perspective.

          • troy

maybe don’t reply to people who didn’t reply to you directly?

      • Ryan

McDowell doesn’t have 10 sacks in his entire college career. 1.5 last year. I’ll take that bet.

    • Coug1990

Yours is an extremely narrow way of grading this draft. King and Chidobe can both be great, but if McDowell and Pocic help the Seahawks win the SuperBowl, are you really going to be upset?

  669. CharlieTheUnicorn

OLB Willis is still available as well….

    • Coleslaw

      Oooo

  670. Sea Mode

    49ers got R7 + 2018 R2 pick from Saints. Dang.

  671. Volume12

    Glad for Cooper Kupp.

  672. Sea Mode

Pocic is also quite durable, missing just one game since 2014.

  673. Sea Mode

There are still a lot of good secondary options out there, just as good as the other ones, but without the name recognition that fans long for in order to recognize who their team picks.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Such as the safety from UCLA

      • Sea Mode

        Moreau, yes.

        Tankersley, Jourdan Lewis.

Brandon Wilson, David Jones, Delano Hill.

  674. Derron James

    Another dude

  675. Sea Mode

Wow, Chargers really beefing up their OL with Lamp and Feeney. Solid.

    • Vista

They are going to try to protect Rivers at all cost. They are in a win now mode

  676. Nathan

    Ravens killing it today.

    • Ryan

That can happen when you let the draft come to you, instead of forcing yourself to take certain players you’ve had your heart set on for years.

  677. Donald

Very frustrating, the Hawks are content to sit on their stash of picks AT THE END of the 3rd round. That is where the talent is gone, so they can coach up the average players.

    • jujus

tell me how I can know the future like you? please?

      • HawkTalker #1

        Relax mate

  678. Volume12

    The Pats ain’t picked once?

    • vrtkolman

The Pats HATED this draft too.

      • Volume12

        Great point.

  679. Coleslaw

Jordan willis, Jourdan Lewis, Fabian Moreau, Tim Williams, please hawks, go get one of them

  680. Sea Mode

Moreau at 90 would be a coup.

  681. C-Dog

Four picks in R3. Lots of good players still to be had. DL and OL adressed let’s go get some DBs and a playmaker for RW. Go Hawks!

  682. nichansen01

DANG Ravens having a KILLER draft

  683. Volume12

Ravens killing this draft. What’s new right?

    • C-Dog

      Love he way they pick

  684. C-Dog

Nice pickup for the Ravens, good replacement for Lawrence Guy. Ravens are having a solid draft, as well.

  685. Volume12

I thought at first they selected a punter. HA!

    • nichansen01

      SAME!!!!

  686. Coleslaw

I think we’re goin to go for a special teams ace lots of them to like

    • HawkTalker #1

      LOL sweet

      • Coleslaw

        ?

      • Coleslaw

We’ve got 2 big guys 6’6 So far?

  687. Overtime

Pocic is a good pick. Last year we were so desperate for a center we selected little joey Hunt in the 6th round. Patrick Lewis failed. Lemuel Jean-Pierre failed. We were so desperate we converted Britt and drafted Hunt. There were only 6 centers drafted last year and 3 went in the first two rounds. The rest were garbage including Hunt who stands about 5’11”. He cannot play any other position. We had to have a backup center. Fortunately, Pocic can also backup every position on the line. Some have said he is a natural LT given the chance.

    • HawkTalker #1

      O Tackles we need . . .

    • Volume12

      He can play everywhere.

He was a team captain too IIRC.

  688. nichansen01

First pick all draft I actually like

  689. Sea Mode

Speedy LB to Falcons. Why am I not surprised…?

    • HawkTalker #1

Falcons are going to be very tough again, really like their team

  690. Vista

    Daeshon Hall to the Panthers

  691. Volume12

    Great pick by the Panthers.

    We didn’t need him though.

  692. vrtkolman

Panthers got a steal at a position of need.

  693. Trevor

There goes my guy Daeshon Hall.

Panthers get a steal in the 3rd round.

    • HawkTalker #1

      Yep, great pick

  694. Vista

    I hate the Baltimore pick.

  695. Trevor

I think the fustrating part for me with this draft it not so much the guys we got MCdowell and Pocic but more the fact that the way the draft fell we could easily have had both King and Obi the tow DB freaks in this draft and set ourselves up in the secondary for the next 5-7 years +

Instead we get a boom or bust DT and a backup OL prospect both may well be solid pros and good additions but I believe this was the draft to prepare for the loss and aging of Kam / Sherm and we could have had Obi and King to do it.

    • troy

Yes great point trevor, this was THE DRAFT to replenish the LOB, and how many DBs were taken in the first two rounds? When we had !!!?!?!FOUR!!!_!_!+!!?! 3rd round picks? ZERO. man. hard to swallow.

  696. troy

Not trying to say any pick we took is good or bad, honestly it will take 3 years really for us to know. But it is just funny how emotional I and apparently many other hawks fans get during the draft, I think we all realize exactly how important the draft is for continued success and our biggest fears are taking busts…man I really hope this is a good draft…

  697. Ehurd1021

The people on here talking about this draft being disappointing are entitled to their opinions, but it’s confusing to hear and honestly, I don’t see how you’ve come to that conclusion?

If you want to be a team that’s built on being a bully you have to be solid on the LOS. Both these picks weren’t sexy but they fit pressing needs on this team that have been obvious for years.

Seattle needed a player who could push the pocket up the middle on defense and add talent – not only depth – to our current rotation. McDowell adds that and then some if he’s motivated. Pocic didn’t give up a sack all last season; is regarded as one of the best OL in LSU history, and had something like 20+ knockdown/pancake blocks last year lol. Safe to assume he’s a bully on the O-line.

Seattle doesn’t draft DB’s early unless they love them. That has been proven in this draft. The FO didn’t love OBI; he’s a tweener, not very physical, and doesn’t play to his size which is a turn-off to a team who has been blessed with guys like Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor and the physicality they bring.

    • Volume12

He’s not even 21. He’s a pup. Does he need motivation? Yup. Who’s the best HC at getting that out of his players?

      • Ehurd1021

Not only PC but the players on this squad as well. I don’t see McDowell coming into this locker room and not being able to find motivation all around him. I honestly love the pick lol.

    • Coleslaw

Nico Siragusa, Isaac Asiata, Antonio Garcia all still available

    • Trevor

I think Pete disagrees with you based on the reaction he had when the Raiders took him right in front of the Hawks. He was pissed.

      • Ehurd1021

Didn’t see it, but you could be right.

What I do know is Seattle had 4 picks in the following (3rd) round and could’ve moved up easily to secure OBI if he was truly valued that high on their board. Just my perspective.

    • HawkTalker #1

      Good perspective

      • Ehurd1021

Appreciate it. Hoping for the best.

  698. Volume12

Love what the Ravens are doing. Best draft hands down.

    • Sea Mode

      No doubt.

  699. vrtkolman

Ravens get the 2nd best pass rusher in the class.

  700. Trevor

There goes your guy Williams Vol12

    • Volume12

😕 At least he went to a team I like.

  701. C-Dog

Wormley and Tim Williams in R3. Ravens are killing it.

  702. Sea Mode

So many Seattle fans clamoring for them to just pick a solid OL. Now they do, and some of those same fans hate the pick. WTF?

    1. ETHAN POCIC, Louisiana State (6-6, 314, 5.14, 2): Versatility is the operative word. Started 27 games at center from 2014-16, nine at RG in 2014 and one at RT in ’16. “He’s definitely smart enough to play all the positions so that enhances his value,” one scout said. “You’d want him on your team because if somebody goes down he can flip and play another spot. Good traits. He had the problem with the hip (August 2016). Good player.” Regarded as too tall for center by some teams. “But I don’t think that will keep him from playing there,” said another scout. “He’ll be a long-time interior player whether it’s guard or center. He is tough, technically sound, aware. Smart player. Got an NFL body.” Won’t turn 22 until August. Wonderlic of 29. “Not elite physical talent, obviously,” a third scout said. “But he does have elite size for guard or center. He’ll become a mid-level starter and, if he gets on a good team, he’ll look better than he really is.” From Lemont, Ill.

“Ethan was a kid who stood out immediately. It was his freshman or sophomore season, he was drawing my eye from the other line prospects when I would roll through Baton Rouge. He’s a smart, tough player who offers position flexibility – give me that guy” – NFC North scout

“Great pick for them. They have not been the same since they lost Max Unger. … He’s smart. He gets up to that second level which you need at the center position. This is going to fortify them in the inside. Something they’ve needed since they lost Max Unger.” — Brian Billick

Scouts say Pocic has the intelligence teams look for from a center and is highly regarded by LSU coaches and teammates in the locker room.

Played on a pro-style team, so he is ready to go.

Just a solid, solid pick. The kind that you have to make to build championship rosters.

    • Volume12

      He embodies S-T-R.

    • HawkTalker #1

Easy big guy dropping the WTF on people and their opinions.

    • Josh emmett

      Fuckin A man

    • Ehurd1021

Very solid pick. Seeing him at RT vs. Southern Miss and how fluid the transition was on a short week made the pick even better IMO.

  703. Kenny Sloth

McDowell had top 5 tape year before last

Ethan Pocic’s tape is really really good and they feel like he can play all up and down the line and I tend to agree with them. He has that physicality we require.

Super solid selections with upside. Huge in McDowell’s case

    • nichansen01

      I’m warming up to Pocic.

    • LLLOGOSSS

Would he have been there at 90 though?

      • nichansen01

The team who took elfien (Minnesota) probably would have taken him. Also probably wouldn’t get past Carolina, LA

        • vrtkolman

Agree, if Taylor Moton went in the 2nd, Pocic would have been snatched up fast after Seattle.

      • Overtime

Good Centers are harder to find than a good QB.

  704. nichansen01

Man that hurts. Ravens win the draft.

Jourdan Lewis, Cordrea Tankersley, Carlos Watkins, Chris Godwin, Bucky Hodges still on the board

    • Volume12

      David Jones, Carroll Phillips

  705. Derron James

    Lol

  706. Misfit74

Ravens crushing this draft. Wormley and Tim Williams in this round? Sheesh

  707. negative neil

My guess is that that they really wanted Obi but were to stupid or timid to move up to get him. Lets hear it again ” the genius of Carroll and Schnider.

  708. nichansen01

    Theory:

Pocic was a Pete Carroll / John Schneider pick, not a cable pick.

    • Volume12

      JS.

      McDowell screams PC.

    • vrtkolman

Good, keep Cable out of the decision making.

  709. Volume12

Ooh. This guy throwing shade at the Philly fans.

    • HawkTalker #1

      Ha yep

  710. Vista

    There goes Moreau

  711. Derron James

    We lost Moreau

  712. Sea Mode

Noooooo! Moreau didn’t last. Oh well.

  713. Misfit74

Ravens win. Ridiculous draft. Humphrey, Bowser Wormley and Williams. Ridiculous.

    • Coleslaw

Google says they draft Jordan Willis

  714. LLLOGOSSS

I’ll say it again: Pete looked demonstrably displeased after the Pocic selection.

Thinking back to the footage of them watching Obi run the 40, Pete looked giddy, while Schneider stayed stoic.

I think John insisted they wait, and Pete got burned.

    • HawkTalker #1

      Is that tape available?

      • LLLOGOSSS

I don’t know, I saw it live. Could be me interpreting it wrong, it was subtle, but he tossed his phone like you might if you were a bit tweaked, got up and I thought I saw him lightly tap his closed fist on the table as he walked out.

    • nichansen01

They had to have known Obi made sense for the raiders… and they had all the ammo to trade up

      • LLLOGOSSS

What if John didn’t want to trade and told Pete they’d take him if he lasted.

        • HawkTalker #1

Well then that would explain why people would have been a little upset.

        • BobbyK

Pete has final say. Not Schneider.

          • LLLOGOSSS

            “Trust me, Pete,”

      • Ehurd1021

Exactly. If they wanted OBI that bad they would’ve moved up to take him. They had more than enough capital.

  715. Volume12

Who’d the Jets take a couple picks ago?

    • Sea Mode

Another of our guys Ardarius Stewart.

    • Coleslaw

      Ardarius Stewart

      • Volume12

        F**k!

    • Vista

      Some wide reciever

  716. Poko

    tim has goon.,,.

  717. Ed

Big college name doesn’t always mean big pro success.

    • nichansen01

      True true.

  718. Sea Mode

Have a feeling Godwin to Broncos…

    • nichansen01

You were right on position, but wrong player

      • Sea Mode

        Henderson’s a good one too.

  719. Mike

    Ravens are killing it

  720. coach

Lewis CB Michigan is who I am hoping for!

  721. Volume12

So the rumor is, Seattle would’ve taken MMD in round 1. If he was gone? Kevin King.

  722. Derron James

    Derek rivers

    • Sea Mode

      Straight to the pass-rushing well.

    • Coleslaw

      Don’t spoil it man wtf

      • Derron James

I was like 30 seconds ahead how did I spoil it

        • Coleslaw

I’m online streaming through nfl.com you posted that comment 2 minutes before they announced

  723. Derron James

Patriots still make good picks lol

  724. Misfit74

I hate when one of my favorite players goes to NE. Rivers is a beast.

  725. Volume12

Damn Pats. He’s gonna be a steal.

  726. C-Dog

Come on John Schnieder, go get back hat Wolverine Jourdan Lewis.

  727. Derron James

I really want tankersly and or Lewis

  728. Derron James

    Nooo Chris Godwin

  729. vrtkolman

Patriots keep dominating the NFL man. I don’t see a big difference between him and Tak McKinley. And the Pats got him 2 rounds later.

    • Sea Mode

Who do you think they take now?

    • Volume12

I’ll take Takk’s passion and competitiveness all day long.

  730. Volume12

    This TB O is lethal!

OJ, Big Mike, Action Jackson, Cameron Brate, and Godwin? Wow man!

  731. Misfit74

Son of a bitch. Godwin gone to Bucs

  732. Sea Mode

    Stupid commercials. Ugh.

Who will the Pats take? I think it’s TE time.

  733. nichansen01

    Tremendous pick by the pats

  734. Derron James

Watch the pats get like Lewis or tankersley

    • nichansen01

      Antonio Garcia

  735. Derron James

God dang another great pick by the pats

  736. Volume12

    Love that pick too.

  737. nichansen01

Amazingly, Tankersley is still on the board :0

  738. Derron James

I like the pick it’s the right idea

  739. Volume12

Did JS give us the clue instead of PC when he said how much easier it is to watch Michigan, Wisconsin, and Michigan St.?

Biegel is still out there too. Prefer him over Watt.

    • nichansen01

Get a feeling JS liked Pocic better than PC

      • Volume12

        Absolutely.

      • Coleslaw

I think Pete loved Obi as much or more than us

    • Derron James

We should get Lewis and biegal

  740. nichansen01

Kareem hunt for the chiefs. Not bad.

    • HI Hawk

      Future all-pro, I’d say that’s not bad.

  741. SheHawk

This seems very conservative for us? Are we not Seahawks — where is all the SWAG we used to have — why are we hanging back — there have to be someone worth trading up for back in round 2 if not Obi someone else other than who we got at Procic Fear not SDB there is still
a Coug out there Salon Luani —
    is Kittle already gone?
    Tank?
Joe Joe Mathis — I will get my UW Dawg — he is MONSTER – we were so much better with him in there

    • nichansen01

I love Joe Mathis. Kittle is still out there.

  742. Derron James

Someone is gonna get one of the corners I feel it

  743. Derron James

    Wow Davis Webb!

  744. Volume12

    David?

    Don’t he mean Davis?

    Good pick

BTW, world champion Giants? Since when?

    • Overtime

      We want Joshua Dobbs

  745. Derron James

    Seattle coming soon

  746. Ed

    Oakland may go Biegel

    • Coleslaw

      Would be a great pick

  747. vrtkolman

My guess for Seattle? Bucky Hodges. Keep it weird.

    • Volume12

That would be an excellent pick.

High upside, poor mans Jimmy Graham.

      • Volume12

They need a weapon for RW going forward. A big one would be great.

  748. Ed

I would be happy with Lewis/Biegel/Dobbs to finish out the 3rd

  749. Poko

    3:28 wow

  750. Derron James

    Shaq griffin a possibility

  751. jujus

i called this pick too guess who

  752. Poko

    I like Bucky Hodges.

  753. nichansen01

    Please please draft Watkins…

  754. nichansen01

I want Watkins Tank Lewis Reynolds

  755. SheHawk

Josh Dobbs is brainiac just like Russ — Love a super smart QB…- I would love that pick! Hopefully not until after we get a stud defenders though — Biegel would be great for us

  756. nichansen01

    WATKINS PLEASE

  757. Derron James

    Good pick

  758. Volume12

    Great pick by Oakland.

They really needed a DT like that.

  759. HawkTalker #1

    DB DB DB

  760. vrtkolman

Vanderdoes wins the best picture of the draft award. Man he is a funny looking guy.

  761. Volume12

    Good for him.

    Couldn’t be happiest for Foreman.

  762. Derron James

Great pick Texans here we go seattle

  763. Coleslaw

Happy for D’Onte, good fit, good chance to start and make a playoff run early. Big fan of his

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Texans are making good moves… building for the long run

  764. HawkTalker #1

    Yep nice pick

  765. Derron James

    Another commercial

  766. Ed

    Please Lewis/Tankersley/Biegel

  767. Volume12

Every single time. Another commercial. Jesus.

  768. C-Dog

Here we go. Who’s it going to be? I’m liking Jourdan Lewis here.

    • HawkTalker #1

      Yes Lewis or Tank

      • C-Dog

Rashly Douglas out there as well

  769. Derron James

    I want Lewis or tankersley

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Perhaps time to double dip for CB next pick.. Tankersley

  770. Jesse James

Nice very happy with the Griffen pick!!!

  771. CharlieTheUnicorn

    4.3 guy for Seahawks!

  772. troy

Finally we get a DB Shaq Griffin

  773. nichansen01

    Shaquille Griffen… I don’t hate it.

  774. jujus

you guys arent mentioning him but you will like him

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      vol 12 liked this guy

      • jujus

I liked him as the latest corner fitting our mold

  775. HawkTalker #1

    Ok ok

  776. Derron James

    Who dyesss

  777. Derron James

    Great pick I called it

  778. jujus

    Shaq Griffin

  779. vrtkolman

Exceptional pick. The value was in the 3rd all along.

  780. Old but Slow

    Love this pick!

  781. Poko

    good pick

  782. jujus

The #Seahawks get their elite athlete CB in the 3rd in Shaq Griffin. His #RAS is the 15th best since 1999 for a corner.

  783. Josh emmett

I need to watch some games from griffin. Anybody watch him?

  784. Volume12

    Figures they skip our pick.

    • C-Dog

      Bastards

  785. HawkTalker #1

    Nailed that one

  786. Ed

    Finish with Tankersley/Biegel/Hodges maybe Dobbs

  787. nichansen01

    Perfect nickel, I think

  788. Mishima

Hey, I got one of the clues right.

    Great pick!

  789. C-Dog

Shaquille Griffin. Nice. That’s the second guy I mocked to Seattle, along with McDowell.

    • LeoSharp

Love his ball skills, exceptional at his best and an incredible athlete.

  790. Coleslaw

There’s your first corner taken before the 4th! AWESOME pick

  791. vrtkolman

    This coverage is bullshit.

  792. Hawks22Fun

    I’ll take it! 4.38 speed!

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/shaquill-griffin?id=2558259

  793. CharlieTheUnicorn

Guess what, Griffin…. 98.1% of CB according of SPARQ

    :O

  794. Volume12

    Love this pick.

This dude has a ton of personality. Another VMAC visitor.

Twin brother who is missing his hand, wouldn’t go to any school that wouldn’t take his brother too.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      Hell of a back story

    • Derron James

Heard that too, I really like him. Do u think he will be leading first year or can he be a starter day 1?

      • Volume12

He can be our nickel. Tons of personality.

    • Volume12

      Great back story.

As someone who’s little brother has a disability, I’m a huge fan of Shaq.

    • C-Dog

I mocked him and McDowell to Seattle, they just went earlier than I thought. Go Hawks!!

      • Volume12

Great job man. Glad u nailed a couple.

Only thing I did was the majority of fans would be disappointed. 😉

  795. Derron James

    Lets get biegal next

  796. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Seahawks pick is in! #95

    • Mishima

      Don’t do it.

      • CharlieTheUnicorn

        I know….. but not a bad pick

  797. Coleslaw

If we get out with Watkins and Lewis I’d cry

    • Ed

      No Lewis

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

there are two more picks soon!

      *draft orgasm*

  798. Derron James

    Another guy we wanted

  799. nichansen01

    Jourdan Lewis to BIG D

TBH I’m glad we didn’t pick him. I like how the guys we picked don’t have the off the field baggage

    • HawkTalker #1

Also it’s a proven fact that good players can’t help you from jail

  800. Derron James

Love the hawks pick great player you guys will like him

    • Ed

Don’t tell me, but how are you getting it so soon. You’re a playa making plays

      • CharlieTheUnicorn

Radio is live broadcasting the picks…… but internet and TV is lagging

        • Derron James

          Ur right

          • Derron James

I didn’t really see this one coming but I thought they would get him at some point

  801. JimQ

Maybe it’s just me, but this years NFL.com crew is lousy, however I’d guess the higher ups push the commercials for all the bucks they are worth. The crew isn’t very good either IMO. How much off topic BS do the have to show?

  802. Eburgz

Give me a TE. Kittle or Roberts is who I want.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

TE Butt would be a nice fit as well

  803. Volume12

Got our CB. Who doesn’t have sub 32″ arms.

    • Eburgz

yep. Awuzie wasn’t even on their board.

  804. CharlieTheUnicorn

Perhaps they grab Tankersley before 3rd round is out tonight!

  805. nichansen01

    Delano Hill

    Who?

    • Volume12

He was brought up during the SR bowl, but was shot down

  806. Volume12

    Nice!

A Michigan guy. JS was trolling us.

    • Derron James

      Lol

  807. nichansen01

    Color me confused.

  808. CharlieTheUnicorn

TE, RB and QB in play.. .and 1 more CB

  809. vrtkolman

Fantastic pick again. Hill is a stud.

    • Mishima

Very underrated. Looks like we’re alternating red flags and lunch pails.

  810. nichansen01

Somehow this guy slipped past me. Anyone know anything?

    • vrtkolman

Big, aggressive run support safety. He ran a 4.47. Kam’s backup and will be a special teams demon out of the gate.

    • Volume12

Big, physical, long. Good speed. Great STs guy. Needs to square up better coming down hill, but he was the forgotten man in that Michigan secondary.

  811. Derron James

    A young 6’1 safety who ran a 4.47 with 32″ arms

  812. Ed

    Please some Tankersley/Biegel

  813. Volume12

Big, physical safety. Instant impact on STs.

    Sea Mode nailed this one.

    • Sea Mode

Finally, got one at least this draft!

  814. HawkTalker #1

    Humm

  815. Derron James

I honestly think a offensive player may get taken today by Seattle

  816. Coleslaw

There’s our big nickel competition for McDougald. And safety depth. Love that pick. Flew under the radar on Michigan but his tape is nice, good instincts

  817. C-Dog

    There’s our DBs!! Go Hawks

  818. Trevor

There is one of your guys Vol Delano Hill.

Have to say really like the Griffin and Hill picks. Added much needed youth, talent and depth to the secondary.

    • Volume12

      Love him and Griffin.

Seattle hit a home run today.

    • HawkTalker #1

Don’t know much about he’ll come out will need to look him up.

  819. Lil'stink

Really like the Shaq pick, and I LOVE the Delano Hill pick.

  820. SheHawk

Didnt know Hill but that PC clue about mountains = Jill??

realistically where is Joe Mathis? Did he already come off board I was sort of in shock after Procic had to take a moment to get it together? Is he already gone Biegel would be awesome

    • Volume12

U nailed. Up a Mountain? A Hill. Duh.

    • Misfit74

Hill has some interesting measurables. Short shuttle and 3 cone, especially. Interested to learn more about him.

Hill has some interesting measurables. Short shuttle and 3 cone, especially. Interested to learn more about him.

  821. BobbyK

Another CB and “LB depth?” Or WR and QB?

  822. Dawgma

So their backup plan for Obi was…..spending the pick the could have traded to move up and make sure they got Obi.

    Solid plan, guys. A+.

    • vrtkolman

Don’t think Obi was a legit prospect for Seattle. They met with him 4 times… they would have taken him with their first pick if they really loved him.

      • HI Hawk

Yeah, they certainly had many shots at Obi, King, Witherspoon, etc. They clearly didn’t like them as much as we all did.

  823. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Picks

    DL, OL, S, CB……

    needs

    RB, TE, WR(?), QB

  824. C-Dog

Pete Carroll told Brock Huard the Hawks been enjoying that Michigan defense. There’s your big physical safety

    • Volume12

      Yup.

And JS with his comments? If a Wisconsin guy gets picked?

      • Forty20

        Vince Biegel?

  825. Poko

    I don’t know him well..

  826. Volume12

    Great pick Miami.

    They’ll love him.

  827. Ed

    Dang their goes Tank

  828. Derron James

    Wow Miami got tankersley

  829. Derron James

Williams will be good in a couple years nice pick

  830. Volume12

Really like WR Chad Williams. Dominated big schools.

  831. Ed

    Douglas/Biegel/Wilson/Dobbs

  832. Sea Mode

Here’s what I wrote about him in my final mock:

    R6P210- S Delano Hill, Michigan
He doesn’t jump out at you on tape, but quietly makes tackle after tackle. (watch vs. Michigan St.) Safety size with Seahawks CB length: 6010, 216, 4.47 40yd, 32 1/8 arm, 77.5 wingspan. Uses that length to fight of blocks admirably, make tackles, and break up passes.
He comes in as depth behind Kam at the SS position, whereas McDougald backs up Obi and Earl.

    • Ed

Nice. Wanted Tankersley or Douglas. Don’t get either.

      • Dave

Tankersley is known for grabbing and PIs. Sounded just like a Hawk, but I love the Shaq Griffin pick. Long arms and speed to burn. I think he was the fastest corner with 32+” inch arms if not the fastest period.

  833. Derron James

I have a feeling that we will see a TE, WR, or LB

  834. Volume12

Seattle won’t budge on that 32″ arm thing. But, they have with the O-line.

    • BobbyK

      Burley?

      • BobbyK

Granted – via trade, but he had less than that measurement.

      • CharlieTheUnicorn

draft a guy with 32 inch or less arms

  835. Ed

    Dang it

  836. Derron James

    Bye rasul

  837. Derron James

    Dorian Johnson in play too

  838. Poko

    Great pick Phi

  839. jujus

2 DT LIKE I SAID WE NEEDED

    • Derron James

I think it was a decent pick

    • Volume12

      Dude. Why spoil it?

  840. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Beefy pick

  841. Derron James

Forgot they have two more picks dang lol

  842. Kenny Sloth

I feel like Vince Biegel is coming for us

They said they love Michigan and Wisconsin this year

  843. Volume12

What pick did we get from Atlanta? The Delano Hill pick?

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      yes, I think so

    • Coleslaw

      Indeed, sir.

  844. Coleslaw

I’m calling Carlos Watkins for us and close out with Biegel

    • Coleslaw

      Kaaya or Kelly tomorrow

      • Kenny Sloth

        Hard pass on Chad Kelly

        • Coleslaw

I don’t like him either, but I don’t call the shots and I know they want a QB lol

    • Ed

Would be nice. Then Hodges or Kittle first pick in the 4th

    • Volume12

      Would love that.

    • Kenny Sloth

Jaleel Johnson would make a great 1 tech

      • Derron James

        Wrong it’s kinda shocking

  845. DavidinBellingham

    On the clock!

  846. Volume12

    Cliff Avril!

    Naz Jones baybee!

  847. MarkinSeattle

The shots of the fans make this almost completely unwatchable. I want to stab my eye with a fork every time I see a bunch of jersey wearing fans cheering like they just won the Super Bowl for a selection they had no clue existed before it came up on the board.

  848. Derron James

    What do u guys think?

  849. Volume12

    There’s our Tony McD replacement.

Great back story. He’s got a spinal condition.

    • HawkTalker #1

      Good call

    • nichansen01

I’m worried about the medical stuff. Other than that, love him.

    • DavidinBellingham

That is the funniest comment of the day.

      • Volume12

        Watch his story online.

  850. vrtkolman

Obviously they liked him more than Watkins. He’s a long, disruption DT.

  851. C-Dog

Loading up at DT with Nazair Jones. Go freaking Hawks.

    Getting beefy in the trenches

  853. CharlieTheUnicorn

TE Butt or Kittle with last 3rd round

    Then grab

    RB Perine

    • Bayahawk

      What he said!

  854. nichansen01

Naz Jones. Hell yeAh. What was wrong with McDowell though.

    • Volume12

      Nothing.

      McDowell backs up Bennett.

Naz replaces Tony McDaniel. Huge upside. Huge kid.

      • LeoSharp

I haven’t scouted him but I remember him standing out in the Sun bowl game and thought he was really good.

  855. Mark Souza

Looks like we’re trying to corner the market on tackles, defensive and offensive. Perhaps we can move one of them over to Buffalo nickel.

  856. Volume12

Had Naz stayed 1 more year? He had a shot to be a late 1st-early 2nd.

  857. Derron James

The damn steelers took one of my fav guys I think vol likes him too

  858. vrtkolman

DT was a huge need in retrospect. Jarran Reed is a key, but Rubin was a JAG last year and after that it was bare.

    • HawkTalker #1

      Agreed

    • Overtime

Then we lost Jenkins and McDaniel and Jefferson got hurt.

    • jujus

Been saying this all offseason, needed at a minimum 2 DT.

  859. HawkTalker #1

Now have a lot of dogs in the fight on D coming from inside, something good will be happening this year in that area

  860. Rowdy

I got a lot of tape to watch

  861. MarkinSeattle

This Naz guy a pure run stopper? A total of 5 sacks gives me the impression he doesn’t have a lot of great pass rush moves.

    • BobbyK

I doubt he produces this year, but they hope he’s a cheap replacement for Rubin next year. Looking ahead.

    • vrtkolman

21 career TFL. He’s more than just a run stopper.

    • Volume12

He’s a kid that’s battled to be able to even play football.

Can do both, but he’ll play the Red Bryant or Tony McDaniel role for us.

Charles Davis said Seattle might go back to their 3-4 looks they used with Red.

  862. Volume12

Watch the NC tape. This kid dominated some games. Just took them over.

Guess what? Every single pick? Seattle scouted at least 1 game this season.

    • jujus

And he was the LEADER of that defense.

  863. RWIII

I wonder what Quinton Jefferson and Cassius Marsh are thinking right now.

    • Volume12

      Nothing.

      • nichansen01

I think both make the team

      • HawkTalker #1

Really? come on man. They are thinking something right now 😉

    • troy

Quinton Jefferson better be thinking, man if I’m not healthy this season I will be out of a job

  864. Derron James

We got the player we needed love our pick

    • Derron James

It’s a good player that’s a upgrade over someone eventually

  865. CharlieTheUnicorn

    Another speedster

  866. nichansen01

    49ers take a random qb.

And what on earth is wrong with Carlos Watkins

    • vrtkolman

49ers traded up for him too. A black mark on an otherwise great draft.

  867. RWIII

I am so wonder what Joey Hunt and Justin Britt were thinking when John Schneider snagged Pocic.

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

Joey Hunt just said… “ho S**T”

  868. C-Dog

    Beathard. Wow.

  869. Coleslaw

You know what? I bet the QB we want is We do Liufao or however you spell it. Mountains were in the hints multiple times

    • CharlieTheUnicorn

      Colorado…. Rocky Mountain HIGH

  870. Derron James

Great pick love this guy wait until u see the hawks pick too

    • Kenny Sloth

Get waaaaay out of here with that.

      Wroong place Derron

  871. Derron James

    Nailing the draft

  872. Derron James

    Love darboh

  873. Volume12

    Yeah.

Liked him better than Chess on.

This kids back story is amazing. Escapee war torn Sierra Leone. Both his parents were killed by rebels.

    • Volume12

Makes big time catches in clutch situations.

Shoulda listened to C-Dog. He was saying all year that Seattle loved this program.

  874. House

    Another Michigan player

  875. Coleslaw

    YES YES YES!!

  876. Ed

    Later Kearse

    • sdcoug

      Cheers mate

    • jujus

THIS THIS so much of this GEt KEARSE TO UNEMPLOYMENT!!!

  877. vrtkolman

Nailed it! Darboh made play after play for Michigan last year. Great pick.

  878. C-Dog

Darboh. Nice. Grab that physical athletic receiver. Go freaking Hawks!!

  879. Derron James

We are killing it in PCJS we trust

  880. MarkinSeattle

Wasn’t Darboh a guy Rob had flagged at the beginning of the year as a top tier athletic stud, but then under performed this year?

    • Volume12

      Chesson. Darboh is much better

      • Sea Mode

        +1 for Darboh

  881. Ed

Hope Biegel or Kittle/Hodges is 4th rd pick

    • Greg Haugsven

Sign me up Ed. Wildcard could be Jake Butt

  882. Coleslaw

Hawks made up for missing Obi and King, they absolutely nailed day 2

  883. LeoSharp

Darboh schooled Shaq Griffin earlier in the year. Should be an interesting training camp for those two

  884. Sea Mode

Well, I had written him off a bit since his poor combine performance, but I did post on Naz Jones back in Feb and totally see what they would like.

    Sea Mode says:
    February 23, 2017 at 7:32 am

Looking at some later-round DTs to possibly add into the mix. I don’t think the Hawks will be taking one early again this year.

Saw some highlights just went up for Naz Jones, NC St. We know PC likes length, and boy does he have it. Listed at 6-5, 295 but in an interview on YT 6 months ago he said he’s up to 310.

Has overcome some serious adversity as well, as he nearly had to give up football after his junior year in high school, suffering from complex regional pain syndrome, a disease that made him unable to walk and caused him to lose 50 pounds in a month. At one point, didn’t even know if he would be able to walk again.

2016 had 70 tackles (32 solo), 9.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks, 3 PBU with those long arms.

Well spoken in interviews and team leader on defense. Carries a chain into games to cause they are only as strong as the weakest link, etc.

Anyway, perhaps he is one of those guys who could turn out to be something more with a bit of development at the next level.

    Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPfUq1_D4HY

    • LeoSharp

CPRS is no joke. know quite a bit a about it and that’s really a bum deal.

    • Volume12

They take DTs with poor or average combines. Its not needed there.

      • nichansen01

        IE jarran Reed

        • Greg Haugsven

They need a combine test for squatting. I want my DT to squat a truck.

  885. jujus

Rob how is McDowell NOT AN XFACTOR!?!?!

  886. Sea Mode

huge theme of overcoming adversity in the R3 picks

  887. Volume12

Seattle took their overcame adversity guys in round 3.

Shaw? Twin brother is missing his hand. Wouldn’t go anywhere with out him.

Naz? Overcame a spinal condition just to be able to play when doctors wouldn’t let him

Darboh? Escaped Sierra Leone. Ran by rebels. Lived with his HS teammates family.

Hill? Overlooked. No one gave him praise on this D.

    • nichansen01

Darbohs backstory is INCREDIBLE. That’s the type of guy I want to root for.

  888. BobbyK

    What we got:

    2. Pass rushing DT in NASCAR package.
    2. A RT with short arms? A right guard? Britt leaving insurance? Quality depth for ’17, if nothing else. Granted, they normally don’t take a player in the 2nd round they plan to sit their rookie year, do they? Maybe they keep Ifedi at RG now? Or he plays RG next to Britt/Ifedi?
    3. Our nickel CB?
    3. Kam’s 2018 replacement?
    3. Rubin’s 2018 replacement.
    3. Kearse/Richardson replacement in 2018.

Will they take a QB, TE, EDGE, or “LB depth” tomorrow? Or perhaps another DB? Can’t wait for that pick!

    • Misfit74

I also liked Darboh > Chesson

I hope we get Kittle still.

We got a big receiver, so I’m pleased about that.

Trenches, a great corner, and a receiver. Good draft so far, despite unexpected picks. McDowell will really make a difference.

      • Greg Haugsven

TE and Vince Beigel is still there as well at LB

  889. Volume12

    Home run draft! Killed it.

    4 picks tommorow too.

    • BobbyK

      5 (1 in 4th, 2 in 6th, 2 in 7th)

      • nichansen01

        5… wow.

        • Greg Haugsven

          I can see a package of a 6th and a 7th to move up into the 5th.

  890. nichansen01

BUCKY HODGES STILL ON THE BOARD.

    And we pick early tomorrow…
    Kittle is also.

    Great draft class.

  891. Misfit74

I wasn’t a fan of McDowell at 26, but risk mitigated after two trade downs.

I’m very intrigued by Delano. His numbers stand out and I suspect he gets a bad rap for his coverage ability.

Question: does Griffin start at slot corner right away with potential to move outside?

    • Volume12

All u gotta do is get McDoweol fired up and he’s top 12 value.

      • Greg Haugsven

Fired up = Avril, Bennett, and Rubin up his ass

        • Volume12

          Bingo.

          • jujus

psh rubin might be cut, Im thinking avril Bennett Wagz and Clark his hated college rival competing with him for sacks

            • Volume12

              Man. That’s a scary O-line.

DE: Bennett, McDowell, Clark, Jordan, QJeff
              DT: Reed, Rubin
DT: Rubin, Jones, Bennett, McDowell, QJeff, Jordan
              DE: Avril, Clark, Marsh, Jordan

              NASCAR: Clark, McDowell, Bennett, Avril

Good lord! Might need another 1-tech.

              • Volume12

And Charles Davis did say Seattle might go back to the Red Bryant, 3-4 set type of look. Jones is perfect for that. Phone booth extrodinaire.

                • peter

I really think PC wanted to go that way and the pieces never worked at the right time. Naz and Mcdowell are some nice big dudes to have some serious length to go with Reed who is built like a tank and Clark is playing himself into some serious 2nd contract money…

      • HawkTalker #1

That has been my opinion as well

  892. Volume12

Delano Hill might be a CB.

    • Volume12

He’s a Shead replacement for the future. Can play FS, CB, and SS, but McDougald will back that up.

  893. MontanaMike

This was extremely unpredictable for me. All the players i wanted went by to other teams right before my eyes, thank god our FO sees things that i don’t.

  894. Volume12

Frank Clark said Darboh is built like Hulk Hogan and runs like a horse! LMAO. 😂

    • Greg Haugsven

Darboh is probably my favorite pick so far.

      • Kenny Sloth

        +1

        So many picks!!!

      • Volume12

        Mine is Shaq.

No different than the guys that went before but he didn’t come from a P5 school. Big, long, versatile, always in receivers hip pockets.

He said on his VMAV visit he instantly felt the ‘family vibe.’

        • peter

          Same.

      • peter

If they can get him to snap his arms out and become even fifty percent better as a hands catcher instead of a body catcher I think he’ll easily supplant Kearse. I think it’s a great pick up. Would still love to see Josh Reynolds as well

  895. Volume12

Michigan is the new pipeline to Seattle. Why? Jim Harbaugh. PC took his guys at Stanford or the guys Harbaugh tried to recruit there.

Same exact coaches. One yells, one praises. Both insanely competitive. Thrill junkies!

    • Mishima

This. Both unconventional in talent evaluation and motivation. They either find or bring out the special.

    • peter

They really are the same coach. Defense. Ball control. Harbaugh had Luck but at his core he always seems to be a clock killing defense first coach. Plus if we’re all honest here that short rivalry was the jams. Those games were the best and “the tip,” is easily one of the top 5 Seahawks plays ever.

  896. Coleslaw

I dont get why people felt the need to drop hints about our picks. Everybody asked multiple times not to including Rob. You’re not NFL Network, chill out and let us watch the draft We been waiting months for, ffs. You’re just ruining the fun. Not. Cool.

    • Coleslaw

Made me not want to be here during the draft, hope that clears up what you’re doing.

    • sdcoug

I fully agree. Almost ruined it for me here and I wait all year for this

  897. Rob Staton

I’ve updated the thoughts on each prospect and added some closing thoughts on day two.

That’s a wrap for today. See you tomorrow for the final day!

    • Volume12

Enjoyed the coverage this year my man. Had a blast. Although, we’re ain’t done yet.

      • Rob Staton

It’s been a blast. Sad it’ll be over soon for another year. Looking forward to doing a LOT of study on Pocic, Jones and Hill.

        • Volume12

Very sad. Wish we could do it once a month or something.

We’ll be waiting for the analysis. I think you’ll really like Pocic. He seems like your type of OL. He wsas the forgotten man this year at that position. I remember we talked about him a little bit back in October or November.

    • Kenny Sloth

My phone was dead when I got off at four. Had my buddy Google the draft before our pick had even come in

  898. Volume12

We didn’t sign Calais Campbell because we got the next one.

PC & JS just comp’d him to CC.

Pocic has been training with one of the best all time. Kevin Mawae.

    • Volume12

Shaq said he’s thrilled to be going to a press heavy team. One of the things he does best.

Naz spent draft day with his grandma, mom, and sister? Sounds like a Seahawk to me.

      • jujus

a decade younger then CC, and we have CC’s old dline coach from college on our staff now to I have heard >_>

  899. Coleslaw

Really hoping for one of Biegel, Perine, Watkins, or Hodges, but I think they might trade down. Unless they trade up later

    • HawkTalker #1

Good thought, harder in later rounds, but another trade down could be great. Need Luani too!!

      • Coleslaw

Given all the leftover talent, I could see teams moving up for TE OL RB

  900. Derron James

Pete Carroll and John Schneider said Shaq Griffin will start as an outside corner and Delano Hill likely as a strong safety according to Bob Condotta

    • Volume12

So that nickel is wide open. Lane Bette be careful. Elliott and Desir breathing down his neck.

      • Coleslaw

Pete also said that he’s played in the slot a lot, FS and SS. Says he’s more like Kam style, though. Sounds like he’s a real option for big nickel, he could certainly be used to shut down TEs

        • Volume12

I still think he’s a hedge for Shead down the line.

          • Coleslaw

Isn’t Shaq that guy? I got a feeling he’s the future outside guy, like a Tharold Simon type project

      • peter

If that’s so then who plays nickel? Lane’s been basically cut from the slot and I was hoping Griffin would lock down the slot. So now they have a few Outside guys in Lane, Shead, Desir, Elliot and now Griffin? Still need to find a nickel.

    • peter

I don’t know why but I have a good feeling about Hill. Give him a year like Kam got with Milloy I think there’s something there.

  901. Derron James

I guess they also didn’t want to show how much interest they had in Pocic and preferred to keep it private.

    • Volume12

      It happens all the time.

      Britt didn’t talk to them.

LaDainian Tomlinson had no connection to the Chargers whatsoever.

  902. Poko

I was very shocked. but now,I come to like this draft.
Avril McDowell Bennett Clark, this DL is so cool!

    • Coleslaw

Yes! I’m so pumped about our D line now! Who do you double team? McDowell is gonna have tons of 1 on 1 looks early in the season.

      • Poko

        That is amazing!

    • Poko

but there is doubt about N.Jones .
I wanted to get C.Lawson or TE

  903. Volume12

PC did want Pocic. Said he liked the way they ran the rock.

JS said MMD was too unique. They’ve been looking for a pass rushing 3-tech since he’s been here.

PC said Jones is their big 3-tech.

    • Volume12

JS wanted to trade up for him. Pocic that is. Was so nervous they would miss him he started to sweat through his shirt and had to change it. 😂

      • Volume12

During the Pocic pico PC throws his phone down. Rich Risen said he’s obsesses with Candy Crunch. Probably just upset he had to stop his game.

      • HawkTalker #1

        How do you know that?

      • vrtkolman

He’s just an all around good player. Doesn’t have the upside of Ifedi but his floor is high. He reminds me of Cody Whitehair kinda, not physically but what kind of impact he could have. He is a day one starter IMO.

        • peter

I like him. I;ve been going through the picks and seeking out the videos and stats to make it make sense. Pocic looks real nice. Not sold on the worth in relation to the Oline’s needs but he’s a good player.

It’s hard to see if he’s going to battle for RG or LG? Or do they push Britt back out to a guard spot? Have to, have to, have to get Ifedi at that RT island. As much as I’ve come around on Pocic I’m not hearing any of this he can play tackle. Dude is a great center and that would be a waste of a pick and frankly, oline spots are not interchangeable.

I’m officially sneaking back onto the George Fant train. I think if he busts his butt this off season he’s going to be the tackle next year.

          Fant
          Joeckel
          Britt
          Pocic
          Ifedi

          • C-Dog

I just came across one draft guru take that suggested Pocic’s best fit is at LG, but he also might do well at RT. I wouldn’t be shocked if we see the OL become Jockel, Pocic, Britt, Glowinski, Ifedi.

            • Volume12

I’d have to go back to my notebook on when Seattle scouted LSU this year, one of three times, but I think one of them was when Pocic was being worked out at RT.

              • C-Dog

Yeah, it was either Pete or John that said they feel Guard or Tackle is where he might fit in. Really digging this pick more and more.

            • Volume12

And JS can not stop talking about Odhiambo. They seem to be expecting big things from him. Glow ain’t safe. Nor is Fant.

              • C-Dog

Nope. I think it’s on for both of them. They seem to like Odhiambo on that left side. Going to be interesting.

              • peter

JS talks out of the side of his mouth when it comes to the Oline. Sorry but Ifedi is definitely a guard, oh wait he’s actually a tackle.

I like Odhiambo and I like JS’s when he’s talking. He seems like one of the more human, flaws and all GM’s in the league.

But let’s get real. The let a basketball player, play the whole season of big boy football when they drafted Odhiambo and actual factual football player. How would Odhiambo on his second season be able to take Fant’s job when he, again as an actual Olinemen, couldn;t do it in his first year vs. a total novice? That logic doesn’t jibe. He’s the player who needed to get up to speed, not the ex-Bboy?

My early guess is Fant takes all comers. The mental fortitude to play grown up football with no experience is amazing. The athleticism is through the roof. And Besides the experience of being not very good as a tackle Joeckel has nothing on him. Fant has the total advantage of just playing Seahawks style. Not spread, not anything else.

I could see Odhiambo going after Glow. I could see a big battle for LG. With Pocic as well.

            • peter

I think Joeckel will start but will be undone by Fant. Joeckel has had years to become a tackle and non-hyperbolically sucks at it. Fant can quite honestly only get better at least before you can make a determination that he isn’t getting better. Joeckel has already proved he can’t do the job.

  904. Ground_Hawk

Thanks for the great work, Rob!

“Meat and potatoes” sums these draft choices up. I really like the Griffin pick, when I saw his name the agony of missing out on Obi subsided quite a bit.

I hope that 111 is one of Biegel, Phillips, Evans, Asiata, Little, or Wilson.

  905. coach

Has anyone seen an interview with JS and PC about thoughts on draft yet? If so, can you post the link? Thanks and Go Hawks!

    • Derron James

      check the seahawks twitter

  906. LeoSharp

Have loved the draft so far. The hawks not selecting Obi is disappointing but he was a available and they clearly didn’t think he was worth it so oh well.
Hopefully they wait for some of the more explosive linebackers later in the draft like BJ Bello or Ukeme Eligwe these guys have decent tape and a significantly better/seahawky athletic profile compared to options like Vince Biegel

  907. nichansen01

    Names on the board:

Carlos Watkins, Jaleel Johnson, Bucky Hodges, Josh Reynolds, Isaac Asiata, Nico Siragusa, George Kittle, JoJo Mathis, Adam Bisnowaty, Vince Biegel, David Jones, Brandon Wilson, Jake Butt, Jordan Leggett, Jeremy Sprinkle, Desmond King, Howard Wilson, Corn Elder, Reyshawn Jenkins, Eddie Jackson, Carroll Phillips, Carl Lawson, Deatrich Wise, Isaac Rochell, Keionta Davis, Ejuan Price, Montae Nicholson, Lorenzo Jerome, Tedric Thompson, Malachi Dupre, Shelton Gibson, Chad Hansen, Isaiah Ford, KD Cannon, Artavis Scott, Dorian Johnson, Samaje Perine

    • Derron James

They will probably go after guys with high upside or guys from big schools with good fits, I can see David Jones, Bucky Hodges, Brandon Wilson, and JaVancy Jones maybe, but don’t sleep on Kittle and Dorian Johnson as a potential pick. (Just random thoughts on who they may pick in the draft not all but one or two of the following).

    • peter

I missed much of the draft live. What the hell is going on with Carlos Watkins?

I’d still like to see Josh Reynolds one WR in Darboh is not enough. I’d like to see Brian Allen on the list. Shaq is a great get but though I think he has the skills to play outside I;d love to see him take over that vacant Nickel spot. I think Allen is basically the ideal project.

      • sdcoug

        Really hoping for Reynolds

  908. Awsi Dooger

I hope I’m wrong but I was underwhelmed by Seattle’s picks. This looks like a typical grab bag scattergun draft that so many teams make when they have abnormal number of picks in the middle rounds. You hope something clicks but at this point it’s blurry.

As always, I prefer the trade up within the top 40 to put less pressure on the general manager to out think the league later on. That’s simply low percentage, regardless of whether it’s happened previously.

I had to laugh at the extremely narrow stance of Malik McDowell as spotlighted by Louis Riddick. That’s not poor college coaching. I’ve seen it so many times among abnormally tall defensive tackles. They grow to despise their long legs being easy targets for guards and centers on either side so they rationalize that legs together is the best way to lessen it.

    McDowell belongs outside.

Pocic is pretty good. I’ve watched him several times, including the bowl game against Louisville when he matched up often against the very short but sometimes strong and effective DeAngelo Brown. That height mismatch was often funny. Pocic is athletic but not particularly powerful. He just looks misplaced at center given his height. Might project to tackle, but not a stout one.

Naz Jones was someone I watched frequently, after the great diving interception against Clemson in the conference championship game in 2015. This year I thought he played too heavy and especially at the combine, where I thought he was the second most disappointing defensive lineman next to Jarron Jones, at least based on my expectation. Naz Jones is more athletic than he showed in Indianapolis. I still have no idea why he looked so sluggish. Everyone raved about Solomon Thomas in that Sun Bowl and it pushed Thomas into the top three. Not many people mentioned how impressive Naz Jones was on the other team.

Bottom line, there are several Canes players who are superior to many guys who have been drafted already. I’ll stand by that. I’ve mentioned some of them here. I have no idea why so many teams waste time with small college flyers instead of the exponentially more logical major college sleepers. When in doubt, draft somebody from an underachieving team like LSU or Auburn or Texas A&M or Miami, just to name a handful. Subjectivity minus big picture logic is generally a fail.

    • Derron James

So harsh lol. These guys will be fine, they have some of the best coaching in the league to look forward to, and they will be great.

    • C-Dog

John Schneider referred to McDowell as the pass rushing 3 tech they have been looking for sense he and Pete got to Seattle. In Pete Carroll’s 4-3 under, he likes to use 3-4 personnel, and typically loves length at 3 tech and 5 tech. Sounds like the plan is to move him around the line, which is something else Pete loves to do with his DLiners. Personally, I love this pick, and think this is the right organization for the guy to do to. He’ll benefit greatly playing with master class technicians in Bennett and Avril. His game is flawed, but major upside.

    • Mike B.

I agree with your sentiment–does feel underwhelming and also disappointing, partly because they didn’t pick some of our favorite prospects. Over the last few drafts they’ve rarely swung for the fences, and this draft it’s been Ichiro-type infield singles. Effective and you get on base, but is it enough to score needed runs? I try to be optimistic, but I don’t know if they’re restocking enough at key positions. Within a couple seasons some of the best players on defense might retire or go elsewhere, and there could be a fast slide into mediocrity. What if both Earl and Sherm are gone after 2017? Yikes.

I’m not concerned about McDowell’s supposed loafing or lack of impressive stats; he seems like a miscast massive edge rusher/5-tech who played his ass off and got his share of pressures and near-pressures. What concerns me about McDowell are his apparently awful interviews with teams and purported attitude problems in college.

Pocic seems like an athletically underwhelming potential Swiss Army o-lineman and Britt insurance. What about Joey Hunt? Waste of a pick last year? I really wish they’d taken the best DB or edge rusher there and picked up an OL (or two) in round 3.

Shaq Griffin is a promising pick and high-character guy. I watched a fair amount of Delano Hill’s film and was impressed with his physicality and speed. Nazair Jones is a total surprise, a dime-a-dozen run stuffer (I did watch his film, along with 10+ similar DTs) who’d likely be available well into day 3. I’m psyched about Amara Darboh–he could be a major receiving weapon, and he’s already a good blocker. I also liked Josh Malone or Josh Reynolds for a late 3rd round big, fast WR.

No matter what, I’m looking forward to day 3 picks and seeing what happens come training camp. Also looking forward to attending my first Hawks game (preseason vs. KC) since the 2010 season. Go Hawks!

      • Volume12

Not many 6’5 300+ lbers with his upside and 35″ arms.

    • Volume12

Completely disagree about McDowell. He’s an inside guy.

If your referring to the ND game as why, keep in mind the left side of that line are 2 first round picks next year.

      • Saxon

        Awsi,

Miami players have been considered undisciplined and poorly coached, which is mainly due to all the chaos around the program the last decade. Generally the Canes tend to outplay their college resumes once they hit the pros and get better coaching. So I agree that we should strongly consider them on the third day.

Richt is killing recruiting. SophomoreLBs Shaq Quartermann and Michael Pinkney will probably be 1st round players in a couple of years. The program is back so hopefully SDB will start profiling Hurricanes soon…

  909. Coleslaw

I’ve decided who I want with #111. Vince Biegel. This guy is a STEAL at 111… I absolutely love this kid and I think it’s between him and Hodges

    • Coleslaw

I’ve really warmed up on Pocic, and this draft in general. I think McDowell will be just fine(meaning he’ll get at least 6 sacks, more like 8 or 9) our DT room is legit now. Darboh is going to be the #2 soon(yes over lockett). Griffin speaks for himself, could be our next big outside corner project or excel in the slot. Hill is versatile enough to play either safety spot and big nickel, he’s Kelcie McCray at the least.

      • peter

I like your positivity but Darboh does not have the technical prowess at this point to supplant Lockett. Lockett gets in and out of his breaks with scary ease, knows how to play CB’s to get space. I’ve already watched as much Darboh tape as I could find and he’s literally a more athletic Kearse. Sideline throws, boxing out DB’s. One handers. And really they need someone to send Kearse to the bench. I’ve commented at length about him, but Kearse is a super sub-average yet curiously expensive WR for the production you get out of him. Off hand I worked it out to roughly 30 yards a game and 2.5 TD’s per SEASON….(yuck BTW considering all the chances he gets.)

Really minus everyone’s affection for Kearse’s circus catches and the fact that he was a Dawg if we were honest we would want any more production from an X receiver. Maybe more than 1-12 catches in the red zone. Maybe 5 years into your career you’d be doing better than 2.5 td’s a year?

I think Darboh has some real nice tools to work with and a pretty easy goal to get to.

  910. GoHawks5151

Overall I think it was a solid day. No more, no less,. No day one impact players. Then again what do you expect from a draft that the Seahawks weren’t crazy about to begin with. 2 big observations. 1) Where Seattle has so often Gambled and won, they may have lost this year. I believe that Bolles was the target and when he wasn’t there were locked into trading back. But the second trade cost them King and then they lost the waiting game to Oakland with Obi. People can claim that he wasn’t a Target but they meet with him the most during the process and they clearly draft VMac visitors. 2) It seems like the over arching themes were grit and leadership. Pocic, Hill, and Nazir are team leaders and heart and sould guys. Griffin, Darboh and Nazir have amazing stories. The fact that these people are trustworthy and persistent really triumphed over some of the physical traits in some cases. Very interested to see who comes next.

    • Volume12

I think if someone was their guy they wouldn’t have traded back. This way they watched ‘their’ guy get passed over and picked up a handful of picks in the process.

      • peter

the only flaw in this logic is that they did trade back and still got their guy. That’s a pretty big risk anytime you trade back and there are a ton of teams that could use a Pocic like player but hope he’ll be there.

        • coach

From listening to the video of PC and JS talking about these 6 guys, it sounded like the ones they are really confident with, they don’t meet with so they don’t draw too much attention to their interest in the player. So, the fact that they met with him 4 times tells me that they weren’t sure about humanoid were having a tough time seeing if he would truly fit what they were looking for. They said they never met with Pocic or Darboh because they knew they liked them both and didn’t want to draw attention and let other teams know their level of interest in those two players.

  911. Coleslaw

Vol, who’s your guy tomorrow at 111?

    • Volume12

      Boy. That’s a tough one.

There is way more talent than I thought would be left. Now I see why they picked up a 4th.

It could be a RB, EDGE, TE, QB or another CB. Jordan Legett?

      • Volume12

Biegel would be great. I’m still thinking with JS comments they go with a guy from there. Maybe S Leo Musso in UDFA? He’s a Maragos clone.

        • jujus

As Js eluded to we have a Mi st and Michigan just need that badger…

        • Volume12

          Utah CB Brian Allen?

          • Volume12

            Carl Lawson?

          • Coleslaw

So many good options still, I hope they trade up tomorrow, Biegel and Allen then a TE with our remaining pick would be amazing. Darrell Daniels?

            • Volume12

Could totally see that but not until round 6 or 7.

      • jujus

        Vince biegel

  912. Kevin

I like the Delano Hill pick. He played on a loaded Michigan program, with lots of talent. He’s 6-1 216lbs, has 32+ inch arms, and runs in the 4.4s. He wasn’t a full time starter and was projected somewhere on day 3, but was picked much earlier than expected by Seattle. He’s a very good tackler and has been called a box safety like Kam. The crazy thing is, he played the same position as Jabrill Peppers, but was behind in the depth chart. He saw lots of action in the slot. One could possibly argue he is a better prospect just comparing the measurables. Or you can watch and see what he does for yourself.

    • Kevin

I wasn’t sure about the Malik McDowell pick at first, but the guy is only 20 years old. John Schneider thinks they have their 3-tech they’ve been looking for, and was the target at #26.

    • peter

I like the Hill pick a lot. And I think one year of playing Special teams he could really be something special.

  913. James

I admit that I scoffed at the suggestion that the Seahawks would select Malik McDowell, given his reputation for running hot and cold. I could not have been more wrong, and someday I will learn to get all the facts before jumping to a conclusion. We now know that Malik was dealing with a high ankle sprain and just could not play to the whistle on every snap. Being only 20 yrs old, he probably let his emotions of disappointment get to him. But Pete is clear that they vetted this guy to the max and they are totally convinced that he is ready to compete to the Seahawks standard. If so, he can be the rarest of weapons, the elite pass rush DT who can destroy an offense with a charge up the middle, literally blowing up play after play. Lest we get ahead of ourselves too much, and get lost in the idea that he has more tools in his belt than even Aaron Donald, let’s see if Pete and his staff can work the same wonders with this uber-talent comparable to Kam Chancellor and Frank Clark.

    • jujus

Thats the spirit brother! HIGH ENERGY POSITIVE THOUGHTS. PC is the best coach to really get to this man. He is only 20 guys. 20 He cant even buy liquor. no one is the same at 20 to 26

  914. Rawls1234

    Carroll Philps at 111?

    • C-Dog

      Could very well be.

    • ImUrHuckleBerri

      What I am thinking.

  915. Volume12

    Malik McDowell:

    Not even 21 years old
Won’t be playing 95% of snaps. Scary in a rotation.
Has to grow until his body
Yes he only has ‘1 move.’ More can be taught. Biggest issue? Gets too tall off the snap
Was double teamed perhaps more than any other -lineman in college.
Can’t question his character. WE DONT HAVE THAT INFO!

The tape against Wisconsin, Indiana, and ND? Incredible

    Watch this play.

    https://mobile.twitter.com/Marcus_Mosher/status/854330043245481984

Look at the hands, the rip, the dip, and bang! Turn on the motor. Excellent stuff. Next level.

    • ImUrHuckleBerri

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy7erbPJISQ

liked this video breakdown of McDowell.

      • Volume12

They did pick him off of last years tape. At least that’s what it sounds like.

        • Sea Mode

PC said in the presser their scouts evaluated his tape as a whole, taking into account both his outstanding sophomore campaign and the factors that contributed to fall-off last year.

They mentioned losing a lot of buddies off of the team and the early high ankle sprain frustrated him.

I totally trust PC and the veterans will get this guy ticking.

    • Volume12

Also was reportedly having chest pains all year.

      • peter

I seriously hope a 20 year old was NOT having chest pains all year or at all during the year. I like the pick but chest pains?

    • Coleslaw

Nice clip, then you think, he’s a 295 lbs 3T? And the butterflies kick in

  916. Ishmael

Immediate thoughts about this class are that they’re not looking ahead too far. They’ve picked up stolid, adequate guys. Literally no one in this class that I’m excited about moving forward. Maybe they’re fine, maybe they’re not, whatever. Just feeling very underwhelmed right now, especially given some of the talent that was on the board. Can’t tell me there was no way to package some picks up nd go get King/Obi/Awuzie. Just feel like getting any one of those dudes would be better than the cats we better, who on the surface look more like practise squad fodder than anything

    • Cysco

King – They already said they really liked him. He was #2 on their board behind McDowell yesterday.

Obi – They met with him 4 times! They obviously loved the physical make up, but they obviously didn’t like the football player. They had every opportunity to move up a bit and get him. They clearly ended up not wanting him. They’ve done significantly more research on him than any of us. Trust their evaluation.

Awuzie – The dude has sub 31in arms! As Rob has mentioned time and time again, they won’t draft a CB with sub 32in arms let alone sub 31in arms. Awuzie was probably not even on their board.

  917. C-Dog

So last night, after day 1 of the draft, I posed the question whether Pete Carroll could resist Malik McDowell at the top of R2. The undisputed truth is “ah, heck no, he can’t.”

They can go a lot of different directions at the top of R4 in the morning. Supposedly, their looking for a QB, Nathan Peterman, and Josh Dobbs are still out there. Maybe they want to go TE with some of those athletic ones there as a hedge to Jimmy Graham’s contract coming up.

But will Pete Carroll and John Schneider resist Vince Biegel? Pete might think of his glory days coaching Matthews and Cushing down at USC with this feisty Badger, and we know how much John loves Wisconsin.

Personally, I like them going one more quality guy on the defense, and I this stage, I might like a LB with starter potential.

    111: R4P4
    EDGE VINCE BIEGEL
    WISCONSIN

Biegel makes sense. Tough, gritty, kinda nasty. Could fill that role of the Base SAM for the next four years on a pretty inexpensive rookie deal. I think he has a makeup that won’t shrink on a defense littered with strong personalities.

    187: R6P3
    QB JEROD EVANS
    VIRGINIA TECH

If Seattle doesn’t go QB in R4, I think they’d be pretty fortunate to find Jerod Evans later. Like him as a sleeper.

    210: R6P26
    TE DARRELL DANIELS
    WASHINGTON

If Seattle doesn’t go TE at the top of R4, I really like Darrell Daniels later on. They would know him pretty well.

    226: R7P8
    FB FREDDIE STEVENSON
    FLORIDA STATE

I think I want that last pick to be a playmaking FB. We got a glimpse of what that’s like again when they brought in Reece. Why not try and find that guy in the draft? I’m a big Freddie Stevenson fan. Bring back the fullback!

    • Volume12

      Great haul.

      IMO rounds 2-4 are JS.

Round 1, 5, and 7 are more PC. I feel like round 6 is a position coach pick.

      • Volume12

And the PC works his recruiting magic in what they call ’round 8.’

    • Sea Mode

      Good group.

    • Nem Beselek

Even though I can never forgive him for missing the college playoffs, I really hope the FO considers Joe Mathis at 111. I also would really like to see Antony Auclair at 187. Then go with Freddie Stevenson and Jerod Evans in the 7th.

There are actually a lot of guys I still like a lot, but Joe Mathis just makes a lot is sense right now.

  918. Volume12

First clue was Al Green. Michigan St’s colors and their motto is ‘Go Green.’ McDowell.

Someone that I used to know clue? Ed Orgeron. HC at LSU. Ethan Pocic.

Up a Mountain clue? Delano Hill. Hill=mountain.

  919. Coleslaw

McDowell already knows every guy on our D is gonna work his ass off for him, he will do the same. “Who’s got your back” I think he falls right into the brotherhood and everyone who passed on him regrets it for the next decade. Look at his tape from early 2016. What motor issues??

  920. LeoSharp

Why do so many people want Vince Biegal? Short arms for a typical edge rusher and doesn’t fit the mold of a Seahawk linebacker with his not so great broad jump.

    • Coleslaw

      https://youtu.be/Jc8uQZkwgBI
I believe Rob came to the conclusion that the only true precedent for LBs is short area agility, he has it in spades

    • BobbyK

Short armed tackle in the second round doesn’t exactly fit the bill either.

  921. CharlieTheUnicorn

Some scraps left to grab …..

    Offense
TE Jake Butt, RB/FB Samaje Perine, TE George Kittle, OT Adam Bisnowaty, TE Jeremy Sprinkle, QB Nathan Peterman, QB Joshua Dobbs

The TE group that is still available appears to have some nice value nice upside guys. I still think they will go for a RB somewhere during the draft, but the only guy that stood out to me was Perine.

    Defense
CB Brian Allen, LB Samson Ebukam, LB Vince Biegel, S Shalom Luani

Secondary and LB still appear to have some guys of value available. I’m assuming they will not grab another “true” DT/DE type, but I guess if a guy fit the DE/OLB type, they could grab one more.

    • peter

It’s not in the teams DNA but there are some UDFA nose tackle types that can move that I would love to see in Seattle.

    • Ukhawk

I like your list of Charlie’s Angels

  922. Strategic Dust

I just don’t feel good about this draft class with the possible exception of Malik. I keep getting the feeling that this front office has fallen in love with the concept of finding diamonds in the rough and disregard any kind of conventional pick unless they’re forced into it. The worst of it for me is the way they view and draft the offensive line. God forbid we take a Lamp or trade up for a Bolles. Instead they pick up aging vets or young inexperienced lineman and spend the first 10 weeks of the regular season trying to make things work. It becomes so frustrating to see our window go by coming up short because we just didn’t dedicate enough resources to what seems to be the most glaring need. Pete and John come out of last season admitting they were too young and then somehow forget the lesson in the offseason. Thanks to Rob, I think we became familiar with a lot of great football players who would have seemingly filled a lot of holes in this roster. Instead we see the front office trade out of multiple spots to gather more draft picks which turn out to be projects and inspirational/gritty stories. I realize this may come across as negative but it’s hard to see seemingly great players ( based on other teams not hesitating to draft them) being consistently passed by. Rob, as someone who dedicates so much time and effort doing this, it has to feel puzzling, random and a little deflating. I hope I’m wrong but I think it is legitimate to question how and why they disregard so many prospects and to ask the front office how they guard against falling in love with being unconventional.

    • Coleslaw

How bad do you think these guys are? Just gritty stories? Darboh is a future starter, Pocic a day 1 starter, McDowell could be a 3 down DL if they wanted, Griffin one of the highest ceilings for a corner in the draft. Hill is underrated and is a high quality backup and future starter with versatility. The other DT was our worst pick and he still can be a future starter like Mebane. This is a really good draft class..

      • peter

Darboh is a gritty story. Right now. In order for him to really be effective he needs to work on thing and one thing only. Getting his damn arms out from his body to snatch the ball from the air. If that skill never turns on he will get destroyed in this league by mediocre to great DB’s who will get their hands up to block passes on him all day long.

Dude is an exciting pick and even if you could forget his backstory which you cant has a lot of the tools already to take Kearse’s spot. He just has to grind on that one skill to be a really good X reciever.

    • Coleslaw

Id say this is an A+ draft and it would have been A++ if they took Carlos Watkins over Nazair Jones

      • Sea Mode

I like Watkins too (he’s still on the board, btw…), but I think it’s pretty clear they were looking for a different profile to add to the rotation up front.

And despite putting up some questionable workout numbers at the combine, I really liked Jones’ tape and what he brings to the table. Should have learned from Jarran Reed last year and stuck with Naz in my mocks.

  923. Coleslaw

Quiet winner of the draft so far? Indy. Hooker and Quincy Wilson with Vontae Davis? They got a nice secondary. Tarell Basham also. They’ve come a long way from picking Bjoern Werner LMAO

  924. Alex

This is interesting. Do those of you who think this is a poor draft class think so because they didn’t pick the players Rob was projecting? I feel that there are lots of people on here that have developed tunnel syndrome with regards to Seahawks drafting. Not a bad thing, this is an excellent site! I notice that lots of people jump on the bandwagon as soon as Rob suggests a player or whatever. Again this is no criticism!

But what I am asking is this – if Rob had projected Pocic and Griffin for example and they were taken, would those of you who are subdued by those picks as they stand have become pleased by them because they were suggested on here?

    • Forty20

I think the depth and breadth of the amazing analysis from Rob and some of the site stalwarts like Volume12 certainly leads to a general attachment to a cadre of prospects.

This year especially we saw conference and divisional rivals (Arizona, Dallas, Greenbay) snipe some of the prospects that had been especially popular on SDB throughout the scouting process so I can understand why tempers flared up a bit.

I personally was a big fan of the Malik McDowell move. Calculated gamble certainly but you could see the way Carroll and Schneider spoke about him in the Day 2 presser that he was a piece in the d-line they had been chasing for a long time. Clint Hurtt has plenty of history with Calais Campbell so he should have an inkling or two about getting the best out of a prospect with such incredible height and length in the interior.

Given that the rest of the NFC West seems to committing to a pass-rushing arms race, McDowell is fighting fire with fire.

Delano Hill is the one that really intrigues me beyond that. Frank Clark positively raved about the pick on Twitter which is enough to get me fired up while it was mentioned in the presser that he has a good bit of experience in the slot and across nickel packages. Kam invariably misses a game or three so Hill will see time on the field then but he could very well be a more integral part of our transition to a predominately nickel look.

    • Sea Mode

I think, while none of us claims to know exactly which way they will go with the picks, we pride ourselves as dedicated fans in understanding which players might appeal to them.

While it certainly is satisfying when we can correctly predict the actual names of some of the picks, I find it just as enjoyable now to dig into the guys that we overlooked and learn more about why the front office liked them so much.

And all the work we did on other players also gives us context for what they passed up on to value these guys above them.

Maybe I’m not qualified to answer the question though, since I’m not at all let down by any of the picks.

    • peter

I like the picks after review. Quite a bit. And every year this happens at the draft. That said regardless of Seattle picking or not picking certain players there to me are still a few holes to get after:

      1. It’s understood that Shaq Griffin is going to play outside? Sounds great. The only problem is that the team still needs nickel help UNLESS Thorpe, Desir, etc are going to be playing nickel. Even if the team doesn’t go 4-2-5 as it were they still need a nickel for sub packages.

      2. On the note of a 4-2-5 alignment. Without a nickel that’s harder. But then they even put themselves in a bind by not addressing the SAM. so now you have no nickel and you have no SAM. Which I hope they address today or even UDFA which you need a “3rd” LB to run a 4-3

      3. Quality Backup to Bobby and KJ. Now I know they signed a ton of dudes this offseason for LB battle royale. Here’s the thing as of now none of those guys have the athleticism nor the skills to backup either of the starting LB’s without a major dropoff. Unless I’m wrong then the position still needs a much improved backup player. The likes of washed out Arthur Brown do not inspire much confidence.

      • Sea Mode

        On point 2:

Both Bradley McDougald and Delano Hill can play Buffalo/Big nickel.

We signed 3 LBs in FA who can compete for SAM, so even if we don’t see another one drafted today (though I am with you in thinking we will), that position would be covered.

In the end, I think we are in a position to just keep following our board, as JS has said they have done up to this point.

        • peter

Maybe two of the LB’s can be a SAM. Brown lacks length, speed, and skill to play SAM.

Mcdougald can probably play that position which is good. Wouldn;t be the first Defensive player that revived their career in Seattle. Delano Hill is a SS. If he can play Big Nickel that’s a bonus but thus far he’s been used as a Safety so he’d have some things to learn.

Overall it’s a good haul. They still need a slot or Nickel CB…that cup board is bare unless one of Desir, et al can play that position after Lane’s demotion.

      • negative neil

Let’s just wait and see how many are actually on the roster when the season begins

  925. Old but Slow

There has been a lot of opinion that we should get a number of starters out of our draft. Not so easy on an established team like the Hawks. Some positions, like DL have a loose definition of starter, as they use a number of players rotating, so it becomes meaningless to say who is the starter, and who is the sub. McDowell and Naz Jones, could be immediate rotation DL, while not being nominal starters.

Pocic is an interesting specimen, as he has been considered a center, but we drafted him as an OT. He is 6′ 6, so that is more OT height than OC, but you never know, and our brain trust seems to see him as perhaps an OT (that is what they called him when they made the pick). He is most likely depth.

The success of Shaq Griffin and Delano Hill, while looking great (big enthusiasm on my part), will depend on the way they meld with the LOB, and pick up the moves that Pete loves.

Amara Darboh would have my heart just with the back story, but he could be an impact player fairly early.

So, I am not seeing much for starters, but a good group of contributors.

    • Sea Mode

Great points. And championship teams need those extra contributors and depth.

I think the OL will transition a bit this year, but long term they will look to keep this group together a long time:

      Fant, Odhiambo, Britt, Pocic, Ifedi

    • peter

I’ve come around a lot on the Pocic pick but I seriously do not want to see him learn to be a tackle. Seattle ahs been goofing around on the OLine for over half a decade now. It’s time to let the players you pick play the positions they play. This goes for Idfedi as well. He’s a tackle sp wasting his time while Sowell and Gilliam jam up the RT spot was pretty pointless.

You got a good center with interior skills. that’s where he should be playing.

      • BobbyK

All we hear is how the Seahawks won’t play a tackle with short arms. Now they draft a center with short arms to play tackle? And not a good TEF score?

        • Volume12

This is the 2nd year in a row there taken an O-lineman that doesn’t fit their length threshold at OL positions. They’ve relaxed that.

          • peter

Who, Joey Hunt? Pretty big difference from a 6th round pick that needs time to a 2nd round pick that I think fans rightfully want to see take the field.

If he plays inside I’m stoked. If he becomes a great RT, I’m stoked. But if he’s goes the way of a year of bad play only to go back inside or get a similar type in the next draft, I’m bummed.

        • peter

That’s my only problem with the pick. IF they said we need depth at Center, a plan going forward, or we really like his interior play I’d be fine with a nice, simple, honest answer. But when you draft a Low TEF, shorter armed interior player and try to get stoked on the one time you worked him out at Tackle that’s when I have my doubts.

I mean if we’re goin gto be honest here the team has spent a lot of time and capital developing players beacuse they don’t have those early picks. But the team has wasted a lot of time and capital as well because they like to screw around and experiment. Pocic as a tackle? Sure. Let’s have the guy with shorter arms play tackle, while the guy with the almost ideal build for RT who played RT and actually has a physical detriment to playing guard in the form of his extrememly long length continue to play guard. Makes sense.

          • Volume12

Ifedi might not have the feet for tackle though. Pocic does. And he’s coming from a pro style offense.

Was already liking our picks yesterday, but Just listened to the presser now and I am pumped, like every year. As Rob points out, given that they are looking to grab solid role players this year and not swing on future stars (except McDowell), this has been an excellent class so far.

McDowell so young and such a high ceiling. If Frank Clark was even better than Dante Fowler picked at #3 that year, then I’m willing to bet McDowell turns out just as good or better than Myles Garrett in a couple years as well, with the added ability to terrorize from the inside. Seattle continues to outsmart the system, do their extensive homework, and find studs where everyone else passes. Finally, finally, they land the 3-tech it seemed impossible to find and could fill that role for a long, long time for them.

Seeing how badly they wanted Ethan Pocic, I like him even more. Smart, tough, reliable, versatile. Just a super solid pick which IMO is exactly what our OL needs. We already have the high-ceiling developmental guys like Fant and Ifedi, we just need the experience and consistency as the glue to bring them all together as a unit. They got that done in FA and yesterday. Can’t believe they held back from trading up given that really there was nobody else like him after that who fits what they are looking for. Ballsy move by JS. Thank God it worked out.

And what a group of characters in R3. Guys we heard less hype about, but no less players really than some of their better-known peers who went earlier. Like how each one has a specific role they want him to play and they are all coming in hungry.

One of my favorite moments of the whole draft process is getting to listen in on the phone calls. They were cut a bit shorter this year in the videos, but still love watching them. The moment when months of hard work by the team and years of hard work by the player come together to make both happy is so cool. You can watch them here: http://www.seahawks.com/videos-photos/videos/video

    • EP

Brilliant to hear. Darboh sounds like a genuine guy. Hill and Griffen seem like a lot of fun. Pocic and Jones sound like grown men. Obvious that Seahawks staff spent a lot of time on McDowell and are really trusting him to come in and live up to his potential.

    • nichansen01

McDowell could definitely become a better player than Garrett. He has all the potential in the world.

  927. Sea Mode

Tony Pauline lists his top players still available. A lot of very interesting names left to choose from.

    • CLB

Also Sheil Kapadia at ESPN Seahawks section titles his day 3 article “Tight end George Kittle, CB Brian Allen among Seahawks’ Day 3 options.”

Of Kittle: “It’d be a surprise if the Seahawks came out of Saturday without a tight end. The only one on their roster who is signed past 2017 is Nick Vannett. Kittle tested in the 97.2 percentile athletically and could be an option.”

And Allen: “He has cornerback/safety experience, excellent size (6-foot-3 with 34-inch arms) and tested in the 87.2 percentile. Allen is a former wide receiver who started only 12 games at corner in college. He could be a developmental option on Day 3.”

  928. Call Me AL

This was an absolutely terrible draft for the hawks. They passed on so many stud players so they could take head cases and average players. I get trading back if your going to use your draft capital wisely, but this didn’t happen. So at 35, I’m thinking Lamp, yes, we grab the best lineman in the draft, day 1 starter. Instead we get McDowell, a guy with poor technique that quit on his team. Ok head scratcher, but now we use that third round capital and trade it for a another 2nd round pick where the cream of this draft is. I’m seeing all this talent going off the board, screaming move up, move up! Instead we sit pat and wait until pick 58 to grab a guy slated to be a mid round pick. I’m like huh, all I can do at this point is stare at the tv with a stupid look on my face. Which continued until the end of the third round where we grab 4 guys that have back-up and practice squad written all over them. We could have had a starting O lineman, CB and maybe a slot CB or D lineman and then some depth players. Schneider set the table for the second round and settled for side dishes and left overs….

    • Sea Mode

Hey, Al. Please go watch the day 2 press conference if you haven’t already so you can learn what they liked in each of these players. You are, of course, free to disagree all you want about the picks, but trust me, there is a lot to like.

      http://www.seahawks.com/video/2017/04/28/john-schneider-pete-carroll-draft-day-2-press-conference

Also, have you watched the video of Malik McDowell embedded in Rob’s article above? Malik is only 20 years old, so there is plenty of time to teach him more technique, but the things he is doing to O-linemen in that video simply cannot be taught.

  929. Volume12

    Last night proved 3 things:

    1. They don’t take CBs early and they better have 32″ arms.

    2. They don’t take prospects early from outside the P5 schools

    3. When they go O-line early its from the SEC.

    • Derron James

Yea your so right, I’m thinking that when we try to predict who they are drafting we have to look at the pro style offenses to be able to see if they maybe like someone from there as well.

    • Sea Mode

      1. Well, R3 is earlier than ever previously, so at least we made “progress” there. Not only that, but they were willing to budge on the 77.5 wingspan too for outside corner.

      Shaq Griffin — 32 3/8 (arms) 74 3/4 (wingspan)

My guess is that maybe the 4.3 speed makes up for the lost 3″ of length? Or maybe just because there simply was nobody else good with the wingspan after King and Obi in this class.

      4. Overcoming adversity proves once again more important than we think in identifying Seahawks targets.

      5. Somehow, they manage to position themselves to where BPA still manages to line up with their biggest needs, which they once again relentlessly pursue early on.

      • Volume12

        4. Absolutely. Great addition to the list.

    • Overtime

Football is not a difficult game to understand. It is mostly about winning the battle at the LOS. We lost 2 DT’s from our rotation and have a 5’11” backup center.

  930. Ukhawk

Absolutely loved the JSPC post day 2 presser which relieved many of my concerns. They are the most chilled guys in the room, laughing, joking, and having a ball.r As fans you can get uptight but when you see the GM & HC like this you just gotta trust it. I don’t understand yet some of the picks but I’m willing to try. Initial thoughts

Malik McD. Very happy to see them get their self-proclaimed ‘3T they’ve always been looking for’. On tape, you see a complete, dominant skillset in flashes and the good news is he is going to the right place to max out.

Pocic. Realise JS drafts OL just like the Pack’s Ted Thompson. They don’t take the prettiest nor sexiest but they take lunch pail, functional, flexible guys. Love how he called him 2.5 players in one. And he will be a good one where I think they’ve learned their lesson and gotten a guy with good athleticism, great experience, good technique and a super attitude.

Griffin. Looks like Sherman and is raw.

Jones. Not sure about this guy but I like the sentiment of getting more DL

Hill. Lots of single high, looked very good vs OSU. Always seems to be around the ball making plays.

Darboh. Seemed like the Doug Baldwin of Michigan, Mr Reliable.

Can’t wait to see what happens next.

    • peter

I agree. It’s a pretty solid draft. I think we often look towards explosion because that’s what Seattle has done before, with Sparq and Tef etc. Maybe the FO realizes that a guy that can come in and play an interior position right away might be more beneficial especially coming from the SEC than a TEF dude who can’t play?

I actually really, really like Griffin and I think he’s a lot less raw then Sherman was.

      • nichansen01

        Amara Darboh>>>>>> Doug Baldwin
(Coming out of college that is)

  931. nichansen01

    Naz Jones.

Love the player. Concerned about his health.

Will his disease affect him anymore going forward?

  932. nichansen01

5 more players today will become Seahawks

    Let’s gooooooo

  933. Blueshawk

I think a blind chimpanzee could have thrown darts at a draft board and walked away with better players.

    • Sea Mode

Come on, man. Got the blues or what…? 😉

Which picks don’t you like and why? Whom would you have rather selected at those spots?

We filled our two biggest needs with our first two picks, then grabbed quality role players/depth after that to get cheaper and younger. What’s not to like?

      • nichansen01

        Vol was right though.

Most fans would hate this draft.

Personally, I like it. I can root for all of these guys.

This team isn’t going to draft the guys they’re always supposed to. That’s why we have Bobby Wagner, Fank Clark, Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, Justin Britt, KJ Wright, Tyler Lockett, Jarran Reed…. etc etc

        • Volume12

I knew us here at SDB would like it. Well, most. We’ve discussed all these guys. Poicic was brought up, but looked over. Big mistake on us.

And your absolutely right. Fans want this team to build for the future? That’s what we just did. Only 5-6 on each side of the ball will light the world on fire their rookie years.

We needed depth more than anything this year. Other than an O-lineman, check. Pass rusher, check. And a DB or two, check.

          • nichansen01

The mantra was we needed one defensive stud, and then a lot of quality depth.

To me, that’s exactly what we got.

          • Ishmael

How could anyone have picked Poicic though? Don’t think it was a mistake on our part.

  934. nichansen01

    Also:

    Outside of McDowell,

Every player we drafted was a ultra high character guy.

McDowell doesn’t have any off the field problems. I think frank c will make sure he plays hard.

  935. Saxon

It’s funny how every year there is a bit of outrage over questionable selections, then we hear the rationale from the front office and people’s concerns are suddenly assuaged.

Remember: The Seahawks front office were extremely disappointed several times over the first two days. There were guys they were hoping would drop to them that didn’t. They may even have buyers remorse today, having reached for some guys that they now believe they could have gotten later – or having turned down deals that could have gotten them other guys.

My point is that it’s okay to be critical. This is a weird draft. If you’re telling me that PCJS had targeted and expected to get each of the guys they drafted, you’ve probably never done a fantasy draft. They missed on a lot of guys they expected to be there. They went with their next best guys. Perhaps this is obvious, but let’s not pretend that everything went according to script.

The Front office is biting their nails hoping that a few of their Plan Bs work out.

    • Volume12

No one is saying you can’t be critical. Everyone has an open. I think we’re just saying to keep an open mind. They build best on the defensive side and that’s what they’ve done.

Your right. They missed out on some guys they wanted, but sometimes plan B works out better. BWagz comes to mind. They wanted Mychal Kendricks and when Philly took him the air was let out of the room in the war room on the live feed. That was much better for us in hindsight.

  936. Hawkfaninmt

Can we get a new day 3 post?

  937. Ishmael

Anyone hear The Ringer podcast with Mays and Lombardi? Thought it was interesting how high they both were on the Hawks first couple of picks. Felt like McDowell was a perfect team fit, and that Pocic was exactly what was needed to help stabilise the line.

I am so in on Darboh, I truly hopes he makes it. The Sierra Leone Civil War was about as nasty as these things get, genuine horror show. Incredible story to make it this far. Super efficient, productive with limited opportunities. So Seahawky. I think he pushes Kearse in a big way, even if Kearse’s knowledge of the system keeps his nose in front for a while.

  938. Ishmael

I think a lot of the disappointment is coming for a couple of reasons.

    a) The picks mostly aren’t super high ceiling, they’re not swinging for greatness. McDowell is probably the closest to that. Wonder if that’s something they’ve pulled back on a bit. Making sure they get really solid, gritty, professionals; not necessarily chasing the risky but MVP-calibre talents of guys like Harvin. High floor, low ceiling.

    b) They weren’t ‘known’ picks. We’ve been talking for months about guys like Obi, King, Watt, Budda, Lamp, Awuize, Bolles etc. Who was talking about Pocic, Jones, Griffin, Hill, Darboh? I’m sure a few of you really clued in dudes on here spotted them at some point, but most fans haven’t heard of them at all, let alone seen them. There were visions of a retooled LOB, getting some uber-athletes in there to take things back over the top. And with that bubble burst, people are getting frustrated. Ignorance leads to frustration which leads to anger.

And I’m 100% in that bracket. I’ve seen some Pocic, but that’s mainly just from watching Fournette. Seen a little bit of Darboh, but nowhere near enough to have really wanted him. The other cats? Absolutely no idea about them, and that’s probably why I’m still feeling not great about this.

    • Donald

Ishmael, well said, and I feel the same way. Very frustrated and depressing considering the “What ifs” . They got too cute, traded down too many times. By grading down to the second round they lost King, for what , a 6 th rd pick. Giving up King was not worth a 6th rd pick. Instead of trading up with their pile of picks to insure of getting a athletic difference maker, they sit still and loose Obi 2 picks ahead of them. Even worse was the consolation prize of someone who was not nearly as good.

  939. Poko

Many people may not like this draft, but they are fair.(McDowell Pocic Griffin Hill)

  940. Mike

    New thread just opened..

  941. Donny Henson

Looks like you will have to relook on how Seahawks draft offensive lineman.

    • Rob Staton

      They just drafted a top-10 TEF O-liner.

So I’m not making any plays to review that.

  942. Kevin

Playing in the SEC Ethan Pocic has a streak of not surrendering a QB hit or sack in 16 straight games going back to last year

  943. Daniel Bryan

    Rob,

Please tell Kenny that he echoes way too much when he records podcasts. He used to do it a lot in the past, got a lot better about it for a long while, but now he’s back to echoes. It’s incredibly distracting. I love the podcast. I love the work you guys do but Kenny is echoing too much.

  944. Reggie in IOWA

I watched this kid Darboh in high school and he was a man amongst kids. I may be a little bias as he’s from my city but IMO he is easily our 3rd best receiver depending on how you feel about richardson. He is head and shoulders above Kearse!
