NC State’s defensive tackle Alim McNeil is a ‘wow’ talent

Alim McNeill is a special player

It’s not often you find players with the size, proportioned body weight and ability to drop the anchor as a nose tackle with the elite athleticism to work openings in the pass rush and move across the line to present attacking opportunities from different positions.

NC State’s Alim McNeil is a rare find.

I watched him against Virginia today and it was an exciting experience. Not just because he managed to tip a pass into the air, catch it himself and then run it back (while breaking a tackle) for an 18-yard touchdown.

He’s listed at 6-2 and 320lbs. You can load him up inside and he can handle blockers to control the running game. Double teams can’t shift him. Against Virginia he dominated with NC State giving up just 63 yards on 26 carries (2.4 YPC) until late in the fourth quarter and the game was over.

That’s not the exciting bit though. You can always find big, powerful nose tackles. It’s the athleticism that goes with it that is exceptional.

I’ve not see many men his size move with the freedom he does. He has a first round athletic profile.

At SPARQ he ran a fantastic 4.96 forty and then, unbelievably, followed it up with a 4.27 short shuttle. To put that into perspective, Joey Bosa ran a 4.21 at his combine. Montez Sweat ran a 4.29. Bradley Chubb ran a 4.41. Malik McDowell ran a 4.53.

Players with his size simply don’t possess his level of agility.

He’s also highly explosive — jumping a 34-inch vertical.

If he gets anywhere near these numbers at the combine — there’s a distinct possibility he will fly up draft boards.

Tony Pauline graded him in round four during the summer but for me he’s destined to go much earlier. He is going to rise when people get to know him.

Watching him today and on tape from other games is a real treat. His ability to shift across the line has to be seen to be believed. He’s like a stunting EDGE. He has complete control of his feet and he uses minimal steps to work to openings and explode into the backfield. When he engages at the LOS he drives defenders deep into the pocket with power. He locks on and finishes. He’ll take a center for a ride and bull rush to the QB.

McNeill has a terrific swim move to break free from initial contact. You can line him up at the five technique to attack the B gap. He’s just too slippery, too quick — yet with the frame of a bulldozing defensive tackle. It catches blockers off guard.

Incredibly he has minimal bad weight. He’s a big dude — but he looks in fantastic shape. There’s amazing definition in his arms and he isn’t carrying a big gut. Dare I say — he almost looks a little bit like Aaron Donald at times. He’s compact, explosive, cat-quick and put-together. He blows up the interior the same way Donald did at Pittsburgh too.

Yet you can also use him on early downs to control the interior running game:

Let me be clear — he isn’t Donald. Nobody is. It’s just very unusual to see a complete defensive tackle with the power, size and control McNeill possesses combined with unique agility.

I’ve not been this excited about a defensive tackle in a long time. If he continues to play like he did today against Virginia and if he tests as well as expected at the combine, I doubt Seattle will have much of a chance at drafting him. Yet he’s amazingly talented and worth keeping an eye on just in case. He could be a big riser over the coming weeks.

Violent, balanced, strong. Great prospect. I cannot help but feel even more negativity towards the Adams trade. That R1 is going to look real nice come April 2021. There’s probably no real chance of us grabbing an interior guy like this in R2 (if we keep it). Seems too good.

  2. clbradley17

He’s on Bruce Feldman’s 2020 Freaks List. Feldman noted that McNeill’s most freakish attribute is “explosive strength.” McNeill makes it four years in a row a Pack defensive lineman was on the list. “Meet the next one, a powerhouse 326-pound former four-star recruit who had 28 tackles, 7.5 TFLs and 5.5 sacks last year,” Feldman wrote. “McNeill, despite his massive size, vertical jumped 32 inches. Don’t be surprised if the junior runs in the 4.9s by the time he’s ready for the NFL Combine. He also benches 445 pounds and squats 640.”

Interesting he lists a 32-inch vertical — but he managed 34 inches at SPARQ.

      • clbradley17

There’s a few second video of him dunking a basketball in high school – he was in the high 270s then. Great athlete and find Rob. Had never heard of him before today.

    Texas vs Oklahoma

    Wacky game.

  4. AlaskaHawk

The Texas vs Oklahoma game has been something else. Three overtimes. Lots of good plays. I really like the Oklahoma defense through the first three quarters.

    • clbradley17

SEC having some Big 12 tendencies today. Past standout Ds at Florida and LSU giving up 40+ in losses. FL lost 41-38 to Texas A&M on a last FG and LSU lost 45-41 to Missouri when they couldn’t score with a few seconds to go.

      • Rob Staton

Florida’s defense stinks this year, so does LSU’s.

        Hard to watch.

Not as hard as Tennessee’s offense though.

26 guys on the injury report. Team has some nagging injuries, bye week coming just in time.

    • clbradley17

I usually like for us to have out bye week at least halfway through the season so we can be fresher for the playoffs. But the last 2 weeks we’ve had so many injuries it will be a relief to break early so Adams, Green and many others can get well.

  6. Gohawks5151

Cool find! In first impression he looks like a quicker, compact Dontari Poe. Hopefully he didn’t fly up the boards like Poe did. I’m interested to see more

Saw a little while ago that both the Bears and Chiefs have new cases of Covid today. Need to get a handle on this or the season could be canceled if they keep having to delay or re-schedule games. Heard an idea that although we can’t have a bubble like the NBA, they could try and keep each team quarantined at a hotel for the next 3 months. May be one of the few ways to make sure no one brings it in from family and friends to infect more players and staff.

    • Rob Staton

“Need to get a handle on this or the season could be canceled”

I’m going to delete any future comment that says this.

There is absolutely NO WAY the league is going to cancel the season.

The whole world is having to get to grips with the fact we have to live with this disease. People are going to get it. People are going to pass it on. This is life now.

Most people have mild or don’t even have symptoms. They go home, isolate, then return to work.

If one trainer or one practise squad player gets it, we don’t need people coming on here (or anywhere else for that matter) claiming the league is going to be cancelled.

      It isn’t.

This is an industry worth billions. They are managing the unique challenge of this year well. A quarter of the season has been played and so far only ONE game has been postponed until weeks later. That’s it. Players are going to get the virus, they will have to isolate, and other games will be moved or will be in doubt.

      THIS. IS. LIFE. NOW.

The sooner people stop overreacting to every bloody positive test the better.

      • Lewis

While some have rolled their eyes at the repeated COVID questions during PC pressers when there are more pressing matters, there was some interesting discussion about this Friday. While it was clear he didn’t want to discuss details, they apparently have a plan for when players have family, etc coming into their “bubble” that can’t be avoided. It sounded like the team is handling getting people tested in those situations. It also sounds as if the team is supplying them with meals to take home so they don’t have to go out to restaurants.

At any rate, this is life, at least for now. Some teams are doing a good job in managing this. Others are not. Hopefully the Seahawks can continue to do well in this area. Don’t want to think about having to play games without Russ orBobby, etc

      • CaptainJack

College football at this point is barely paying attention to this. At least most of the country.. (looking at you pac 12)

        • DC

          I do…

Option 1: Delay game to Monday or Tuesday
Option 2: Reschedule game and move bye week
Option 3: Extend season one week. Add extra bye week
Option 4: Team unable to play forfeits game
Option 5: Extend season more than 1 week: reschedule playoffs
Option 6: Not all teams lay 16 games
      ……..,,,,,
      Option 1097: Cancel Season

  11. Trevor

I have to really check out this guy now Rob. I can’t remember the last time you seemed so excited about a prospect and knowing how you feel about Donald to even mention him means this kid is definitely worth a look.

  12. clbradley17

Rob or anyone, who’s looking good at RB in case Carson signs a big contract elsewhere next year? Spencer Brown of UAB has the size at 6’0″ and 220, one of the CFB leaders so far this year, but don’t know about if he has the speed or Seahawks/Carson style they like. 2 first picks would probably be DL and DB or LT. Just wondering if there are any good options for day 3, since we could possibly lose Carson and Hyde.

  13. Nick

Gang—must watch analysis of the Seahawks secondary. Really, really good insights.

Big takeaway is that Dunbar is very key to this secondary getting better (beyond the pass rush, obviously).

  14. clbradley17

Another Big 12-like SEC game. Alabama just scored again with 3 min. to go, leading Mississippi 56-45 with 14 total TDs in the game.

  15. CaptainJack

McNeil seems pretty good, I can see a guy like him sneaking in late round one and at the latest going early to mid round 2. So out of range for where I hope we’ll be picking. And he doesn’t fit either of our two big times offseason needs… 1. Pass rusher who can win one on one matchups off the edge 2. Duane Brown successor

So, interesting prospect and great write up but I don’t see him in a hawks uniform any time soon.

  16. charlietheunicorn

    Rob (and all)

Are their any guys you find really fun to watchin for the 2021 draft class? Any position?

    • McZ

First college game watched this season was Texas Tech @ Iowa St
Iowa St has some guys to watch

      Breeze Hall, RB (!!!))
      Xavier Hutchinson, WR
      Chase Allen, TE
      Charlie Kolar, TE

And of course Brock Purdy, QB. I really like, how he behaves under pressure. Tries and realizes to minimize errors, and works his TEs a lot.

I can only imagine how difficult it will be for you to scout potential Seattle draft choices if we in fact trade our 2nd pick . Not picking until day 3 hard to get excited about any players you may write about knowing we have very little chance of getting them. Perhaps you should try and look for 4-5th rounders with great potential or traits. Anyway thanks for your blog always enjoyable.

    • Rob Staton

      It is what it is.

I’d rather the Seahawks get a player to help them fix their greatest weakness.

  18. Trevor

There has not been a lick of defense in the NFL or CFB this year. I know people like offense but this is ridiculous it is like flag football now.

    • Rob Staton

      It’s shite.

Whether it’s the weird covid-impacted season or not, the total lack of competent defense isn’t fun to watch.

I found Alabama vs Ole Miss boring. Like watching a game of tennis, waiting to see who couldn’t hold serve.

      • Big Mike

        Tennis is a great analogy

    • cha

The penalties seem more punitive this year as well.

KSU-TCU, Hubert got called for roughing the passer on what should have been the last play of the game. Hubert literally extended his arms and pushed Duggan to the ground AS he was throwing the ball! No helmet to helmet contact, nothing. I wouldn’t even call it a shot, just an honest attempt to affect the QB throw.

But no. Flag, and a targeting review (ruled not targeting thankfully). Gave TCU an untimed down and another shot at the end zone.

      Ridiculous.

    • DC

      It benefits Seattle though 😉

    • Volume12

There’s a big difference between teams scoring points because they’re making good throws or beating coverages. What we’re seeing ain’t that though. Real lack of the basics, like fundamentals. Everyone also wants to make the big play instead of assignment sound.

  19. Rob Staton

Was never a fan of Dwayne Haskins. Thought he was massively overrated in the draft. A product of Ohio State’s relentless ability to churn out production at QB in their system.

But this? This should put off every team: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/10/11/reports-dwayne-haskins-home-with-stomach-virus-sunday/

    How convenient. A ‘stomach bug’.

You can’t take your bat and ball home when you get benched. You can’t have a sulk and refuse to go to work.

Why would anyone trade for him?

    Rubbish.

    • Trevor

      That is a bad look.

    • Big Mike

IMO Rivera will be looking for a QB this offseason. He’s as no nonsense as it gets.

      • charlietheunicorn

Rivera is the HC they needed. He is cleaning up the mistakes from the past and leading the team. They might not find success this season, buyt sure as hell will be a force in year 2 and 3 in the NFC (l)east

        • TomLPDX

Totally agree! Big Rivera fan. I love football and my Seahawks are #1, but I love grit and want to. Go Ron!

    • Lewis

Why do you think he refused to go to work vs being sent home by the team doctor as stated by the team?

      https://twitter.com/juliedonaldson_/status/1315309275640717312?

      • Rob Staton

        He called in sick.

They told him not to go in.

        Come on.

      • cha

The announcer in the WA-LA game even slagged him a little after Allen got hurt. “With Dwayne Haskins SUPPOSEDLY sick with a stomach bug, Alex Smith is the only other QB active today.”

  20. Happy Hawk

The list of NFL teams that will be the highest over the cap in 2021:
    1. Saints- $82.8M
    2. Eagles- $72.6M
    3. Falcons- $37.5M
    4. Steelers- $28.3M
    5. Rams- $23.9M
    6. Chiefs- $22.1M
    7. Texans- $14.6M
    8. Vikings- $14.1M
    9. Raiders- $13.3M
    10. Bears- $7.7M

Most likely it will be one of the teams the Hawks might deal with to get some line help at the trade deadline.

    • Lewis

Falcons seem most likely. Eagles still have every shot to win their division

      • Rob Staton

        People keep saying this.

They still can’t end the league year at MINUS EIGHTY MILLION DOLLARS.

        • clbradley17

SF, Miami and Cleveland were 70-90 mil. under the cap a few years ago. Don’t think I’ve ever seen teams that far over, and the Eagles and Saints are close to or over double the 3rd worst team. Unbelievable. They will almost have to make at least a couple trades by the deadline or lose several good players after the end of the year for nothing.

        • Lewis

Can’t they, though? Not saying they should, mind you, but could they not make moves after the new League year starts?

          • Rob Staton

No. Because then any dead money would be accounted for next year, not this year.

            For example:

2021 saving if they cut/trade Fletcher Cox now: $22.5m

2021 saving if they cut/trade Fletcher Cox in the new league year: $7m

They need to find $70-80m of savings.

            • Lewis

And they have cap room remaining to eat a charge like that this year? Ok, thanks for the explanation.

              • Lewis

Assuming there is some bonus money that would accelerate

              • Rob Staton

They have $14m in cap space.

It would only cost about $4m of that to move Fletcher Cox this year but saves them $22.5m next year.

                • Lewis

Again, thanks for the explanation. That does seem like it would make a ton of sense, then.

                  • Rob Staton

                    No problem

    • SeahawkGenX

2021 FA will be glorious for the Hawks, it’s kinda unfair to the rest of the league for being dumb dumbs with their contracts, But hey you just never know & for the Seahawks they are ready.

      • Lewis

Hopefully, since the draft capital is… lacking

      • Rob Staton

The Seahawks don’t have the cap space to be big spenders though.

  21. cha

Great opening drive by the Rams. Game plan executed well to nullify the great WFT defensive line.

Those quick passes to the flat were really well done.

  22. Big Mike

Falcons down 20-7 to Carolina. How much longer does Quinn last? Jets down 14-3 to AZ. Same question for Gase.

    • clbradley17

The floodgates of firing coaches could open now that the 1st one has gone in Houston. I like seeing the Raiders playing KC tough 24-24 just before halftime if only to know that it can be done.

  23. Trevor

This just in Aaron Donald is goooood!

Funny how the lack of holding calls don’t really seem to be affecting him. Schotty and Russ better start planning a scheme to limit his impact like now.

The Rams paid him and Ramsey as the top defensive players at their position and they are playing like it. Time for Bobby to start doing the same thing.

  24. TomLPDX

So cool to see Alex Smith back on the field and looking good!

    • cha

Third play in Aaron Donald jumps on his back and smith takes him for a two step piggy back ride. I think the leg is ok!

  25. Trevor

I know Montez Sweat has a misdiagnosed heart condition at the combine but he was a D.K. Metcalf level freak and would have been a perfect LEO in our scheme. If we had him instead of Collier I would feel a lot better about the DL going forward.

    • Darnell

Yeah, they unfortunately missed out on him with the trade down with Green Bay. Though some of that compensation was used to draft DK. The pros and cons of manoeuvring around a draft.

  26. Volume12

Mahomes footwork can be downright atrocious at times.

  27. charlietheunicorn

I’m honestly at a loss for words about the Falcons. So much talent and 0-5. I loved DQ when he was here and have rooted for him since he took over at ATL. What happened??

  31. Trevor

It is going to be critical tonight with rain expected that the Hawks stop the run on D and establish the run game on O. It will be a great test to see how this team plays when the can’t rely completely on the explosive passing game.

31-24 Hawks with Cousins throwing an INt on the final drive as the Hawks seal the win. Cason has his first 100yd rushing effort.

  33. Rob Staton

Dan Quinn is going to be fired.

Before anyone demands his return to Seattle — the Falcons’ defense is a disaster under his leadership. The whole team has been awful since the Super Bowl.

He doesn’t get to bring the 2013 LOB & D-line with him.

    • Lewis

Yeah, I don’t get the people that think he is going to come back and fix personnel problems.

  34. Gohawks5151

Ryan Kerrigan hasn’t made a big impact since week 1. Didn’t start last game. No stats today. No sacks or qb hits the last few weeks. I know many were pinning hopes on him but is he now worth a 2nd? Is it compounding mistakes of the off-season to pay it anyways. He has seemed nicked up so maybe it’s not all as it seems

    • JC3

Never like those players on 3rd contract, they don’t last the whole season.

  35. charlietheunicorn

Dare I say, the Giants look competent today. Freeman running well and Jones making good throws.

    • TomLPDX

They do…but they are playing the hapless Boys.

  36. charlietheunicorn

I was just reading a ESPN article about the Broncos. Long story short, the HC is subtly calling out some o his own guys about practicing during a “unscheduled” bye week. A guy who popped on social media about not liking the routine was Shelby Harris. Perhaps, keep an eye on him as a trade target for Seattle.

Just checked over the cap, he is on a very affordable deal….

  37. charlietheunicorn

Tunafish taking it to the 49ers.. ugly game so far.

  38. Trevor

          • Rob Staton

            Not really.

Teams fluctuate week-to-week. It’s why the term ‘any given Sunday’ exists.

I always said last week would be a tough game and didn’t constitute it to be a ‘trap game’ like others suggested. It was a solid win last week and it’s a solid win now.

  42. Big Mike

Refs just literally handed the 9ers a TD with a total shit roughing the passer call that kept their drive alive. Must’ve got a call from NY telling them to get SF back in the game for ratings purposes

I’m actually in tears. Imagine if this happened to Russ.

          • pdway

i have nothing but respect for Dak. that was a brutal looking injury. feel really bad for the guy.

        • Big Mike

          Jason Garrett literally in tears

        • Sea Mode

Video. NOT of injury, but of teams’ reaction and support shown.

          https://twitter.com/CharlesRobinson/status/1315426614910627841

      • Big Mike

I despise the cowpukes to the core of my being but rarely wish an injury on anyone, especially a quality person like Dak

        • TomLPDX

You’re a good man, Big Mike. Football is football, but this kind of stuff is never good. Just heard that Dak is headed for a local hospital for further evaluation. I think he is done for the season but hopefully not his career.

          • Big Mike

            Thanks.
Guessing he won’t make it back til mid-season next year but purely speculation on my part.

    • cha

CBS says it’s an ankle and he’s going to the hospital.

    • Aaron

Yeah, that ankle is broken. He’s done for the season and probably in Dallas.

      • Rob Staton

I wondered if he’d dislocated it. His first reaction was to stamp that foot, almost like he was attempting to get it back in. But if it’s dislocated, the chances are there’s a bone break too and possibly serious ligament damage.

        • Big Mike

According to my cousin via text ESPN is already reporting he’s having ankle surgery tonight. Seems like they’re jumping the gun as you’d think they’d have to wait for any swelling to subside but who knows?

Feel really bad for Dak. The Cowboys are done for the season.,

              • Rob Staton

Not in the NFC Least they aren’t!

                • charlietheunicorn

Giants are 0-5… 2 games out of 1st place!

  46. cha

    Seahawks Inactives tonight

    Iupati
    Hyde
    Lano Hill
    Fuller
    Adams
    Brooks

    • Rob Staton

      No Iupati is…. interesting

      • cha

Back spasms must not have gotten better.

    • Big Mike

So this mean we’re gonna see Dunbar?

      • Lewis

        And Bullard

  47. Donovan

Alden Smith would have made a nice DE signing by Hawks

  48. Trevor

That Dak Injury if as bad as it looked is why players hate the franchise tag even though they make a ton of a ton of cash that one year the NFL is an unforgiving game and an injury can end a career on any given play ala Kam or Avril.

    • Lewis

Willing to bet he has a very large insurance policy against injury.

      • Big Mike

        I sincerely hope he does

    • Big Mike

And not to be a dick here. but reports had Dak turning down a long term at like 35 per this last offseason.

      • Denver Hawker

        $100MM guaranteed!!!!!! Turned it down.

  49. Sea Mode

Trev, we gonna talk about your boy Claypool…?

    • charlietheunicorn

I think the real story is… Roethlisberger is looking good.. really good.

    • Trevor

He is a flat out beast I am glad Vol12 root him in his fantasy league. I did too by the way.

He would be amazing in the Hawks offense. Him and D.K. outside with Locket in the slot would be sick. He is just so physical.

      • Trevor

        Took not root.

  50. Rob Staton

“Damon Harrison needs some time to get in shape. They’ll see where it goes in a couple weeks.”

    Aye… that’s because he’s about 380lbs.

    • charlietheunicorn

He looked like he was pushing 360 or so to me, but if he was 4 bills, wouldn’t be a shocker.

Looking forward to seeing Bullard out there. Think he can help on 3rd down.
Hope Deejay gets more touches than Homer. Gonna have to run the ball in this downpour.

    Go Hawks!

    • Rob Staton

My prediction is he gets about five snaps.

      • CaptainJack

In fairness to Bullard he has a fair amount of in game NFL snaps under his belt.

        • Rob Staton

Sure. Doesn’t mean the Seahawks are going to use him much tonight.

    @BradyHenderson and @710ESPNSeattle
Can’t wait to see the epic #Snacks training montage

    Ok, I would watch that

  54. Rob Staton

Toughest game of the season so far me IMO.

    And the rain doesn’t help.

    • cha

Run defense, put up or shut up.

  55. CaptainJack

In Seattle and the rain is coming down but it’s fairly light right now.

  56. Big Mike

Rain = run the ball imo

  57. charlietheunicorn

Weather: The rain is on and off right now, but the wind has been picking up the last hour or so in the Puget Sound region. Not sure about inside the stadium, but could be a slick playing surface and challenge for ball security.

  58. Rob Staton

This weather reminds me so much of my last visit to Seattle… when Kirk Cousins won with Washington.

    • Trevor

Sucks because as you have mentioned Russ struggles with a wet ball.

  59. Rob Staton

    Too easy this.

    • Rob Staton

      This defense is dreadful.

Shout out to Cody Barton on that touchdown putting up as much resistance as a chocolate tea pot.

      • Hughz

Just horrible, he needs to be cut

      • Trevor

It is embarrassing. Pete must feel like throwing up. It is really hard to watch because there is nothing on the defensive side to even have hope about.

        No pass rush

        Bad LB play

        Poor coverage in the secondary.

Just tells you how good Russ and the offense + special teams has been
Because her is no way this defense should be 4-0.

        • Rob Staton

          I feel like throwing up.

Pete was in charge of an operation that spent an absolute fortune — money and picks — on this shocking defense.

          • Trevor

Yet the local media has still not even asked him about it.

            • Rob Staton

              And probably never will.

  60. CaptainJack

    Ryan Neal getting worked early

  61. Trevor

The lack of pass rush really shows on 3rd down. That is why our 3rd down defense has been god awful for 2-3 years now. Just abysmal in getting off the field. Already 3-4 could conversions on this opening drive.

Wagner has to pick it up he has not been good this year IMO.

  62. cha

Barton blocked right out of Cooks’ way.

    • Pran

Hate to see Barton on goal line stands…you can always run at him and be happy.

      • Rob Staton

Any time he’s out there is a concern.

  63. CaptainJack

Not a great start, the pass rush was soft, coverage was slow

  64. Denver Hawker

Bobby is off, not good. He’s slow to react, off a step in speed, and getting blocked out on that TD.

    • Trevor

He has not been good since he signed his deal. They let Clark walk to give him a record deal and he certainly had not played at that level IMO.

  65. Ishmael

Just a bit lol at Cody Barton, he’s so clearly not up to it. Not his fault that he’s not good enough, or that he got drafted where he did, sure he’s a great guy, but the Seahawks have to realise at this point that it’s not going to happen.

  66. cha

3rd & 22. Draw play to Travis Homer.

  67. Rob Staton

What the hell was that third down call.

    A terrible start.

    • Kyle Rolfson

It was a Cody Barton of a play call.

  68. CaptainJack

So done with third down hand offs to Homer

  69. Pran

Such a bad 3rd down play call..

  70. Supra22ssv

Here comes a nice easy 99yard drive

  71. Rowdy

Defense, offense and coaching are all Awful at this point

  72. Rowdy

Their all playing like they don’t care

  73. Trevor

Can someone please , please, please tell me why Cody Barton on defense and Travis Homer on offense are active and getting snaps. Both have had lots of opportunity and have not shown one glimmer of potential that indicates they are NFL quality players. It is baffling to me.

  74. Kyle R

You need to run a play on that third down that sets up at least a reasonable field goal or 4th down attempt.

  75. Rob Staton

Get Cody Barton out of the game.

    For crying out loud.

    Make a tackle.

  76. CaptainJack

Ben Burr Kirven can’t be worse than Barton at this point

  77. Trevor

3rd ranked run defense what a joke. Anyone who believes that has not been watching this team.

  78. Rob Staton

I just sit here every week and cannot fathom how on earth any team — ever — could state pass rush being the priority fix and end up with this D-line.

    • cha

Shaquem from the practice squad to being their designated option on 3rd downs.

      • Rob Staton

The player they clearly decided wasn’t good enough and was just filling a desperate need for speed… is now in the exact same position.

        Not good enough.

    • Bmseattle

Im not sure they could have compiled a worse collection of players if they tried.

      • Rob Staton

        Correct.

  79. Trevor

Soon teams will realize they can just run on 1st and 2nd down then if they don’t convert they can pass on 3rd down with little pressure and just eat up the clock to keep Russ and the offense off the field.

  80. Rob Staton

Telling you now — if someone doesn’t slap this team into life we’re going to see New Orleans, Baltimore and Arizona from last season.

That first quarter was a massacre. Men against boys. One team looks amped, sharp, clinical and balanced. The other is slow, chasing shadows, looks like it’d rather be anywhere else and isn’t enjoying the wet and the cold.

    • CaptainJack

Getting 2017 rams game vibes honestly. If we don’t turn it around pronto this could get ugly.

    • Pran

Vaunted run defense is up to the challenge finally.. lol

    • Bmseattle

      You’re right.
They have no energy at all.

  81. Big Mike

You all know this is about to be a 99 yd drive, right?

    What is a “pass rush”?

  82. Tony

Gonna be “that” type of game. Ugh.

  83. Pran

They are always going to go for 4th down and keep Russ off field..is it.

  84. Rob Staton

    As I was saying…

Good run defense? A complete mirage.

Dalvin Cook has more runs in two drives than Seattle have faced from running backs in complete games in their first four games.

    • Aaron

      +1

    • Mac

I’d just target Barton all game lol He needs to show why he belongs in the league, at the moment he’s hardly rosterable…. on a practice squad.

  85. cha

Are they blitzing Neal? Because he’s not good at it.

  86. Matt

Sincerely one of the worst defenses I’ve ever seen.

Cody Barton shouldn’t even be on the practice squad.

    • Tony

For all our barton hate, he has a couple decent plays tonight. He manuevered well between blocks to stop a screen fora huge play. Also put a good hit on cousins on that sack.

  87. Rowdy

Why not just forfeit the game if you guys don’t even want to show any effort

    • Matt

It’s like they don’t know that they have a bye next week. Leave it all out there for goodness sake.

  88. Rowdy

Weird, trying to get in field goal range from that spot

  89. Aaron

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️…this defense is absolutely painful to watch

  90. Tony

TOP is ridiculous right now. Brutal start. Offense needs a big drive.

  91. cha

17 plays 10:18 of game time, a FG. That’s a winning formula right there.

  92. Shadrey

Gee, who could have guessed that the team with the top RB (maybe?) would be using their rushing attack/screens to keep Russ off the field. And yet, it not only looks like the run d can’t stop the run, it looks like they aren’t prepared.

  93. Pran

Defense gave up 10yards for a easy FG. Same situation We run right in the middle with a RB bad at doing that and punt… awful performance all around.

  94. Hawkcrazy

seattle needs some points on this drive

    • Tony

      Need a td really.

  95. Rob Staton

It’s amazing how Twitter seems to think replacing Ken Norton Jr with the architect of the second worst defense in the league who’s about to get fired will be the cure-all.

    • Gohawks5151

Russell not playing well. Classic rainy Russ

    • Trevor

As you said they need some new blood and outside influence on the defensive coaching staff but unless they get some talent it won’t matter who is coaching them.

    • Shadrey Sands

You mean replacing Clowney with the equivalent of no one in free agency OR the draft and then losing the player you panic traded for can be easily fixed by hiring one of the worst jinxed coaches???

  96. Rob Staton

Offense as hopeless as the defense tonight.

    • Aaron

Offense and Defense are unprepared, slow, lethargic, mental errors, bad execution, etc etc etc

      This could get ugly quick…yikes!!!

    • Pran

Why swain gave up on that 3rd down instead of fighting for 1st down…did I miss something.

  97. Tony

Ugh. This is about to get bad.

  98. Trevor

Doesn’t matter how good your offense is if the defense is on the field for 75% of the game because they can’t get a stop.

    • Hawkcrazy

Well offense has done zero so far. Play calling has not been good. Not sure if they are late developing plays but Russ has to avoid the sacks and he just isnt. Offense and defense bad so far.

    • Pran

At this pace, Zimmer need to beg PC to give his offense some rest

  99. Rowdy

But the offense is just as bad

  100. Rob Staton

This is also what I’ve been warning against.

It’s OK dicing up the Falcons, Cowboys etc.

When you come up against a serious opponent, who get on you, this is what I thought would happen eventually.

And it will happen against the Rams. And it will happen in the playoffs.

If the offense doesn’t apply scoreboard pressure, this team will struggle like this.

    • Aaron

I’m still sticking with my 10-6 prediction, so .500 the rest of the way.

    • Matt

I understand we are 4-0…but what confidence do people actually have in Pete Carroll and John Schneider, at this point? I mean, this team is not a serious contender. Everything is way too easy for opposing teams.

I absolutely buy all the RW noise with Florio – why would you want to waste your prime on this?

    • Bmseattle

For the 2nd week in a row, Lockett is nowhere to be seen, early in the game.
One advantage we *should* have is our receivers vs their corners.

      • Volume12

        Yeah, he sucks. 🙄

        • Bmseattle

Clearly that wasn’t what I was saying.
Do you disagree that we should have the advantage with our receivers over their rookie corners?

  101. Max

The only reason this defense is bad is no fan noise and ken Norton.no other reason 😂

  102. Denver Hawker

Vikes going right at Barton last drive. He made some plays though, credit to him.

    • Big Mike

      Playing better this week

  103. Nate

Not that they’ve showed much on offense but if they can get things going they have a chance to flip the game here.

    • Nate

      Lmao never mind

  104. Ben Ft. Worth

I’ll take Mychael Kendrick back at this point over Barton.

  105. cha

Did they just call the exact same screen play after the first one got blown up??

    • CaptainJack

Russell cant play in the rain

  106. Aaron

    Russ is seeing ghosts

    • Big Mike

Ghosts don’t run thru olinemen like a hot knife thru butter

  107. Gohawks5151

Like watching the New Orleans game last year

  108. Matt

This legitimately feels worse than the Rams game a few years ago – at the least the Rams were an uber-talented team. This is just disgusting.

    • Big Mike

Worst game Seattle has played in a very long time.

  109. Trevor

He comes the wasted play with a draw or dump off to Homer.

  110. Shadrey

How can we reconcile that the same brilliant football minds who put together the amazing roster turnover in 2011 put this roster together?

It was one thing when they were sending out an abysmal offensive line, but this is an entire half of the team that has maybe 3 above replacement level players right now?

Truly one of the most bizarre experiences as a fan.

    • Matt

      Honestly…they lucked out.

Found 3 HOFers R3 and later. Since then…they have utterly failed to address dramatic shortcomings on the roster.

  111. Trevor

Why can’t Russ play in the rain?

  112. Pran

A 1-3 team playing like a 4-0 team and 4-0 team playing like 0-4 team. May be Pete can take a refresher on rebuilding defense from Zimmer.

  113. Rowdy

This team already threw in the towel. I fully expect them to give up another score here

  114. Hawks_Gui

Man, imagine to play a good team like chiefs baltimore or GB
We are going to be murdered

  115. Big Mike

If collinsworth is right, why isn’t schotty running shorter, quick pass routes?

    • Tony

Could be russ just holding the ball some. But weve faced 2nd and long and 3rd and very long last 3 drives.

  116. Trevor

Dickson was the only player on the Hawks who played well this half.

    • Volume12

      Reed’s busting his a**

      • Trevor

You are right Vol. KJ has been decent too.

  117. Bmseattle

The Vikings are able to keep 2 safeties deep, and still get pressure rushing with 4.
We’re going to have to adjust our gameplan, cuz the deep routes aren’t gonna be there tonight.

  118. Matt

My goodness Russell legit sucks today. Not getting help but his instincts, everything is just off.

  119. CL

Nothing better than standing up at 2:20 AM to see a game like this… can we.. just not have a D at all? this is pathetic.

  120. Gohawks5151

Get some easy completions. Slant, hitch, bubbles. All long 3 man routes vs 2 deep. Tight ends are easy money

    • Big Mike

      My.point as well

  121. Pran

There goes the #1 offense without a fight

  122. Trevor

If Pete gets asked about Covid protocol after this game instead of the defense I might loose it.

    • Bmseattle

I hope they ask him about the difficulties of keeping his mask on while trying to communicate.

    • Aaron

“Hey Pete, what do you think about the performance of Dickson tonight with the rain and all…real gritty right?”

  123. Rowdy

The vikings are literally running a generic offense and the hawks incapable of even just standing in the way

    • Big Mike

      Spot on

  124. Trevor

For all those hoping Russ would get his first MVP a game like this on prime time really hurts.

  125. Pran

It looks to me defense is helping Vikes offense conserve time and move quickly to get some points…team effort.

  126. Noah Parker

Seems that Russell and Shotty have never seen a Cover 2 defense before. Good lord. I am starting to drink the hard stuff…..

  127. Ben Ft. Worth

I feel like I’m watching a count-down timer until the game ends, of some kind of constructed Seahawks torture device.

Of course it has to be raining. Not that it’s affecting us, it just pisses me off even more.

  128. Trevor

Rob how dare you spend time dwelling on the Hawks failure to address there self proclaimed weakness (the DL ). I can’t believe you are not just putting your rose coloured glasses on and admiring the quality of this defensive unit.

    • Big Mike

Dontcha know the defensive backfield is going to make it all ok?

  129. DC

Russ’ worst half ever? 31 yards??? I mean really, MVP Russ’ with 31 yards at the half? Only 6 attempt? What a nightmare.

  130. Noah Parker

I say we go in for half time and NOT come back out. FUCK IT. Forfeit.

  131. Bmseattle

It feels like a huge victory to be down by only 13.

  132. Volume12

Just need a couple big plays. On Russ to get his guys going/make something happen.

  133. Tony

Silver lining…we played an absolute garbage first half and are only down 13. And get ball to start half. Maybe we can start hot. 2nd half adjustments please.

    • Trevor

They can still win but need to make serious adjustments this halftime

  134. 12th chuck

the only highlight of this half outside special teams, we had one 3 and out. first one in a couple of games. pathetic

    • 12th chuck

      on defense.

    • Big Mike

Special teams still rock solid for sure

  135. Trevor

Russ clearly struggles in the rain. I am surprised that the Hawks have not tried to come up with a scheme involving more short passing and running. Makes no sense really when even as a fan I can see Russ struggles in these conditions almost every time.

    • Big Mike

      Concur 100%

      • Big Mike

Said two days ago that we need to run a lot.

        • Trevor

I remember reading that and agreeing it was key.

    • Aaron

It’s been an issue since his rookie season

    • Volume12

Minnesota is really good at taking that stuff away though. Need some PA.

    • HawkfaninMT

I mean, he’s 7/7… not sure how the rain is impacting his decision to not tuck the ball and run. Or for either WRs to get open or him to see them.

It seems like they were not prepared in terms of game plan and adjustments (yet), and/or their execution has just been poor.

  136. Pran

As bad as defense is Offense is utter shit..50 yards, 4 sacks.

Props to defense for not letting this be a blow out in first half.

  137. Trevor

Vol12 how about our boy Claypool for Fantasy today!

    • Volume12

He went off today! That was something else. Steelers are just a WR assembly line.

      • Trevor

Clemson in CFB and the Steelers in NFL are the WR factories. He is going to be a star once he actually learns to run routes.

  138. Hughz

Any chance we kept our real game plan for the second half?

    • Volume12

Everything went right for Minnesota that half. They couldn’t if drawn up it any better. Opposite for Seattle.

      • Volume12

A FG at the end of the half certainly wasn’t ideal, but it was a 2 score game that’s still a 2 score game

  139. Trevor

Cook looks almost identical to what Alvin Kamara did to us last year in the wet weather.

  140. Noah Parker

    2nd Half:

    1. Get off the field on D
    2. Learn how to play offense

    Simple, really.

  141. Noah Parker

oh oh.. 1A… score out of the gate!

  142. Trevor

This team usually can make adjustments and you know Russ will battle so the Hawks are far from out of this despite that awful 1st half.

  143. Pran

It’s surprising to see just 2 known players Yannick and Kendricks on that D, yet shutting down Hawks like LOB defense.

  144. cha

3rd and 22 draw play to Homer. I still can’t believe it.

Get a RW scramble, or a slant to DK for 6 or7 and set up a FG.

Schottenheimer and PC basically said “nah offense, let’s rely our defense.”

    Think on that.

    Think on that.

    That’s insane.

    • Trevor

      Made no sense at all.

Actually any 3rd down play to Homer makes no sense. Has he converted one yet?

    • Big Mike

      Concur 100%

  145. Trevor

This first drive in the 2nd half is huge.

  146. Gui_Hawks

Adams will be out for 2 games including this one, and he still will be pur sack leader

  147. jopa726

It is not insane. It just dumb. People do dumb stuff all the time. They’re called first marriages.

  148. Rob Staton

    Three-and-out.

The Seahawks are getting beaten up.

    Embarrassing.

    • Rob Staton

This is going to be a big bucket of ice-cold water on Russell Wilson for MVP.

      • Pran

Embarrassing … is this what they came up with after break.

This will be a blow out in no time

    • Aaron

Dickson gonna be on the field longer than Russ tonight 🤣🤣😰😰🥺🥺

    • Matt

Where are you at on Pete Carroll?

      • Rob Staton

I’m at the stage where I accept there is 0% chance Jody Allen fires him so I don’t even contemplate an alternative.

If you want to change, you’ll have to wait for new owners.

  149. CaptainJack

    Terrible terrible terrible …

  150. Noah Parker

Did Russell say that he wanted to be the “best to every play the game”? Hmmmmm…………………….

  151. Bmseattle

So… we can’t throw deep… or run the ball.
    Excellent.

  152. Ben Ft. Worth

Why are we not just running play-action Russ scramble every damn play????!

  153. Aaron

The 2020 Hawks are SOFT…soft as a gelly doughnut. They remind me of many of those Packer teams before McCarthy got fired…just sayin.

  154. Ben Ft. Worth

Seriously would not mind some Kaepernick play action magic here.

  155. Tony

4-1at the bye isnt the worst. Get a couple guys back and get ready for the big 5 game stretch. That will determine our season.

  156. Ben Ft. Worth

    NFL God are reaching down.

  157. Pran

Every time there is a call for MVP, Russ lays a giant egg. I would say let him keep chasing the dream always..

  158. AlaskaHawk

Team needs a double espresso and a kick in the ass. Come on guys.

  159. Aaron

Let me wallow in this moment Tony…haha…*cries

  160. cha

    Atlanta Falcons
    @AtlantaFalcons
BREAKING NEWS: General Manager Thomas Dimitroff and Head Coach Dan Quinn have been relieved of their duties, effective immediately.

  161. HawkfaninMT

They’ve been down worse than this before. I’m not saying they’ve played well, but I’m not writing this off as a loss just yet.

  162. Hawkcrazy

Seahawks are going to come back and win this ugly as it may be

  163. cha

Hey look the Seahawks have tight ends!

    • cha

HEY LOOK THE SEAHAWKS HAVE TIGHT ENDS!

      • Lewis

Was certain in the first half we didn’t

  164. Lewis

I want to punch Collinsworth for suggesting the team got energized because Dalvin got hurt

    • HawkfaninMT

Because it’s true? From that play on momentum shifted. It’s a double effect also, he didn’t point out the demoralizing effect losing a star player can have on the team that lost the player. Like it or not, it’s a thing. And it’s his job to pint that sort of thing out.

If it’s simply the optics, I get it a bit. Not quite as bad as Dingy pointing out (then correcting himself) that Daks injury was a blessing in disguise, but it doesn’t sound good.

      • Lewis

Yes, momentum shifted, but I don’t believe for a minute the team was excited because an opposing player was injured.

    • Tony

Wonder if he said the same for the giants today.

    • CaptainJack

It was a trashy comment but may have not been so inaccurate

  165. Ben Ft. Worth

    YEAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

  166. Tony

Wait! We can do offense things?! Is this allowed???

  167. Volume12

    Nice, quick score

    • AlaskaHawk

Four plays, the dead come alive at 5.

  168. Big Mike

Yeah horseshit low blow. Energized by the d getting a 3 and out

  169. Noah Parker

OMG I TAKE IT ALL BACK. UNCLE WILL!!!

  170. Volume12

    Samia getting worked

  171. AlaskaHawk

Is that Bullards first significant play?

  172. Volume12

    Here we go. Tides turning

  173. Walt

    Nice play Bullard

  174. Volume12

    Fumble!

    • Rob Staton

Did they blow it dead before KJ recovered though?

      • Rob Staton

This is Arkansas vs Ole Miss all over again.

      • Lewis

I think they did, but it didn’t matter because there was a clear recovery. I think.

  175. cha

If Cousins has lost control of the ball but his arm pushes it forward, that’s a fumble yes?

    • cha

      That’s a yes

  176. CaptainJack

Bullard- this years Quandre Diggs? Making plays.

  177. Pran

Will Falcons trade with out a GM. Who can we get..

  178. Noah Parker

    Fumble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  179. Volume12

    And just like that fellas.

  180. cha

See this is what pass rush gets you guys. Hats off to Damontre Moore for a great play.

    Now go get more help.

  181. AlaskaHawk

Why was everyone worried? Ha ha – Seahawks are the Robin Hood of the NFL, stealing wins.

  182. Noah Parker

    This is better!

  183. cha

    KJ!!!!

THE STICKUM ON THE HANDS WORKED!!

    • cha

      OH MY GOODNESS

CARSON IS COMING FOR YOUR SOUL

  184. Gohawks5151

    Cut KJ Wright???

    • cha

      Cut Barton, extend Wright

    • Marco

That was my opinion after they got Brooks and Irvin. Shame on me!

  185. Volume12

Finally KJ gets him 1. Dude deserved it

    • Lewis

That Wright kid might be good one day.

      • Volume12

        Maybe, possibly

  186. DC

So can when Adams comes back, just have him play Barton’s spot and KJ at SAM and keep Neal on the field.

  187. Trevor

The injury to Cook was the turning point. Gave the Hawks life and they look like a different team now.

KJ has been our best LB this year not Bobby.

    • Volume12

This looks like a PC defense.

  188. Volume12

What a MF run. My goodness

    • Trevor

That is a bad bad man when healthy.

  189. Trevor

I love when Carson runs like that. If he can stay healthy he is an absolute stud.

    • Ben Ft. Worth

When I first read this, I thought you said,

“I love when Carson runs like this. If he can stay healthy he can steal you’re soul!! Lmao!

  190. Tony

Momentum is totally not a thing lol.

    • Trevor

Anyone who has ever played any type of sport at any level knows how huge it is. I am like you I laugh when I hear people say it is not a factor.

Look at this Hawks team since that Cook injury.

  191. CaptainJack

Bullard is getting a lot of work. Cool pick up.

  192. cha

Rob you didn’t give up and go to bed did you?

  193. Noah Parker

Rob!!! I wanna hear something positive!!!

    • Rob Staton

When things go wrong writing here is a welcome distraction.

When things go well… I’m watching the TV!

      • Lewis

Lol. Thought this was going to be like me going to the grocery store in the second half of the 2013 NFC championship

      • Noah Parker

couldnt have said it better! HAHA love it. GO HAWKS!

  194. Forrest

I’m just laughing at how quickly this has turned around. Momentum shift and a half :’)

  195. Noah Parker

I’m sure we will still F it up…

  196. Volume12

    What?!

    • Noah Parker

Im sure we will still F it up

    • Volume12

      Such a bad call

      • Noah Parker

        ohhh.. helmet Flowers? Gotcha

  197. Trevor

Just need a stop here to keep the momentum. I thought that was a good hit by Flowers but they are playing flag football now,

    • Lewis

I did too on first look, but he hit him in the head. Good call

  198. Noah Parker

great heat by Neal! saved a TD!!

  199. Volume12

If Neal gets his head around that’s a pick. Still a really good play

    • Lewis

      I said the same thing

  200. Rob Staton

That drive emphasised the lack of a difference maker on defense.

They just needed someone to blow things up and get off the field.

    Although Cousins was also exceptional.

    • Trevor

Agree completely. They need turnovers to have any chance.

Jarren Reed has been better today though which is a positive.

    • Noah Parker

      ROBERT! POSITIVE!

  201. Trevor

On 3rd down the Cousins locks onto Theilen. Might want to try rotating coverage to him.

  202. Gohawks5151

Collier getting good penetration. If he gets a counter move off of the bull rush he may be OK

  203. Trevor

    Why is Homer getting snaps?

  204. Noah Parker

Why do we run it to Homer? Seriously, one reason. Im waiting…

    • Rob Staton

      No idea.

Because Carson hasn’t exactly had a heavy workload.

    • Trevor

I am with you I can’t think of one good run he has had yet, Why not give Dallas a shot, he has looked dynamic at least.

  205. Trevor

Would never have guessed it but that was Russ’s first incompletion and Moore had a shot at it.

    • Volume12

Thought he had that. And if Russ had half a second more, DK has his 2nd tug of the game.

  206. Rob Staton

    Punt team is on fire.

I still fear this defense. Need to keep scoring. Can’t stall now.

    • Trevor

Special teams has been elite all year. Really has been a big positive.

  207. Noah Parker

    MICHEAL BIG DICK FUCKING DICKSON

  208. CaptainJack

Man… the Moore drop was killer

  209. cha

    Joe Fann
    @Joe_Fann
Quinton Dunbar is headed to the locker room. Staying healthy has always been his biggest issue. He’s already missed two games this season with a knee injury.
    7:29 PM · Oct 11, 2020

  210. Rob Staton

For crying out loud the defense is so frustrating

On the two and it’s the easiest conversion to launch another drive.

Get off the field. Come on.

    • Rob Staton

      Then a big run.

You can’t play well for five minutes.

  211. Bmseattle

They are wisely picking on Flowers

  212. Trevor

Please cover Thielen on 3rd down. Come on man unreal you know that is where Cousins is going. Wtf

  213. Pran

    This is going backwards again..

  214. Rob Staton

    Too easy again.

  215. Leonardo

If you took their names off the jerseys this year, you would absolutely think KJ was the all-pro LB, not Bobby.

    • Trevor

      Agree 100%

  216. Rob Staton

    Waste a time out.

    Won’t need that 🤦‍♂️👀

    • Pran

Time to plan a blitz and give up easy yards

    • DC

Wouldn’t be a classic Pete game without it

    • Rob Staton

Why waste one there anyway they will go for it on fourth down even if they don’t make it.

      • Rob Staton

Wasted a time out to jump offside.

        Classic.

  217. Gohawks5151

Clean up crew Cody. Jumping on the pile late and waiting for the back to run into him. Brooks going to have that job.

  218. Big Mike

This defense is utter misery to watch

    • DC

Good thing they used that TO

  219. DC

Here we go. Need MVP Russ’ to show up and save the day again.

  220. Rob Staton

    This defense 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  221. cha

A brilliant game by the punt unit being wasted. A 97 yard drive.

  222. Tony

All on the offense now. RW make your claim to mvp by bailing us out every game.

  223. DC

Griffin has been getting abused by Thielen.

  224. Volume12

    15 plays, 97 yds. Gross

    • Trevor

      Without Dalvin Cook.

      • Tony

Mattison is really a great backup tho.

  225. Pran

I don’t have faith in this offense to go distance. All the points came when they were given good starting position. Come on Russ and Schotty. Wasted two drives close to FG range..

  226. DC

Half jokingly, Pete should fire himself over how bad this defense is.

  227. Tony

That stat of 5 drives of 10+ plays…ugh. definition of a defense not getting off the field.

  228. Leonardo

Ken Norton isn’t the best coordinator but I can’t fathom why Seahawks twitter thinks Dan Quinn would solve all our problems, like he can conjure a pass rusher out of thin air. The coach of an 0-5 team with a bad defense is our panacea evidently.

  229. Scot04

Definitely not an MVP play by Wilson

    • Volume12

Not sure what he was thinking there.

  230. Tony

    Ugh game.

  231. DC

But man, how about that run defense?!

  232. Scot04

This defense was do to cost us a game. Wilson has to be perfect almost for us to Win

  233. Pran

I hate this game. They run the same play hundred times and still get 20 yards. Suck it Pete.. go win on junky Giant jets and Washington to pad up wins, and call it a winning season ..

  234. Big Mike

I thought our run d was good

    • Tony

Only when teams would rather pass on us.

  235. Big Mike

The decline of Bobby Wagner is pretty painful to watch

    • DC

He has been on the field for almost 40 min, or more than 20 min longer than RE

      • Trevor

He is a big reason the defense has been on the field all night.

  236. Matt

Boy…I won’t be surprised if we are 4-5 after week 10.

  237. Donovan

Put Barton on Practice squad. They’re running at him and killing us

  238. AlaskaHawk

I fully retract and apologize for previous comments made about the Seahawks great run defense!!!

  239. Leonardo

At least we don’t have to hear about how great the run D is anymore, I don’t trust them to stop a run on 3rd and 30.

    • CaptainJack

      No doubt a silver lining

  240. Trevor

You know Cousins is going to target Thielen here on 3rd down. Just double him for gods sakes make someone else beat you.

  241. DC

If I’m MN I run it here

  242. Tony

Wow, the tackling is literally just letting them fall forward for 5 yards

  243. CaptainJack

When you get shut out the first half and can’t stop the run the entire game you’ll lose every single time.

  244. Trevor

The Vikes would be crazy not to go for it here and finish off the Hawks

  245. Gohawks5151

I wonder if Ryan Neal can play corner.

  246. DC

Just saw Carson only has 8 carries….

  247. Nate

Calling it now: Vikes kick a FG, Hawks score too fast and get the 2, lose on a FG at the buzzer 😂

    • Nate

      Lmaoooo

  248. Volume12

    OMG! Here we go.

  249. Gohawks5151

I will hear nothing negative about Bobby! 😉

  250. DC

    MVP Russ for redemption

  251. Trevor

Wags finally made a big play! Well done

  252. Trevor

Would love to see Russ run a ton this drive

  253. Trevor

Wtf is Homer doing on the field!

  254. Volume12

    DK!

    • Trevor

      Beast!

  255. AlaskaHawk

They have to review that end zone play. What sort of reffing bull is this?

    • Trevor

      That was a TD!

    • Volume12

That was a TD. Dont see how it wasn’t

      • Trevor

Why didn’t Pete take a time out to give the refs more time to look at it.

    • AlaskaHawk

Hot Diggity Dog, the Seahawks pull one out of there …

    • Lewis

Yeah, don’t understand that at all

  256. Tony

Apparently punch out in endzone is cool

    • AlaskaHawk

It was the back judge that over ruled – who couldn’t even see the catch.

  257. Volume12

    Let’s goooooo! DK!

  258. DC

    MVP!!!!!! DK is lit!

  259. DC

Now don’t get too excited, the D has plenty of time to lose it!

  260. Trevor

Wow Russ you are one incredible competitor! Even when not playing well he just battles and never gives up. Just a special competitor.

  261. Trevor

Hawks D just needs one play come on man.

  262. Trevor

Just one sack come on please.

    • charlietheunicorn

Fumble worked too worked i guess

  263. AlaskaHawk

Oh sure – they review this play but not the endzone play. What was the rush before?

  264. Volume12

He was looking for DK every time down the field that drive except for twice. Baby GOAT

    • Trevor

He is only going to get better too Vol because he appears to be like Russ in his love of the game and the amount of work he willing to put in.

    • Tony

Cause dk is a beast. A if they dont double him, its a mismatch.

  265. cha

    MVP
    MVP
    MVP

    • charlietheunicorn

Resume builder right there, comeback with 1 minute in rain and wind!

  266. Tony

    Wow. 5-0, ill take it.

  267. Volume12

    What. A. Game!

It’s raining so hard in Seattle & so windy, I’m not sure how Russ was even slinging it tonight.

    • Trevor

Just a special competitor that always believes he can do it. Some guys talk the talk but time and time again he walks the walk.

  268. Leonardo

I know the “clutch” gene isn’t borne out statistically but what else can explain how this defense is crap for 58 minutes but world beaters at the end of every game? Amazing

    • Tony

The one thing the hawks have had in this era is belief in winning no matter the game theyre having. Of all of the flaws pete has, having his team fight to the end isnt one of them.

      • Trevor

        Tony you nailed it.

      • Nate Midgley

Exactly. Say what you will about roster construction (and you can say a lot!) but he is great at getting those guys to believe.

  269. AlaskaHawk

I was ready to watch the Seahawks batt down a Hail Mary. This ending is just as good!!!! Seahawks pull a win out of the hat!

  270. charlietheunicorn

Seahawks Lose (oh wait) ~ Rob rewriting his article title

    😉

  271. Supra22ssv

As much as I hate Barton if not for him we don’t win that game

    • 12th chuck

he actually had a few good plays this game. a few bad ones as well

    • Tony

He manned up for one crucial play. Still plays soft as tissue tho.

  272. Trevor

The ugliest 5-0 ever but I love it!

  273. Forrest

My heart and liver can’t take this kind of damage anymore. They need to use this week off to plug some holes in the defense. I’ll take 5-0 any day of the week though, so go Hawks!!!

    • charlietheunicorn

With the offense C game and still pull off a win.

Defense had some low points, but they also had some tremendous plays… KJ Wright was amazing

      • Forrest

Sure, I just mean in general, I think guys coming back from injuries will help a lot. The defense looked okay this game (KJ WAS amazing), but still give up way too many chunk plays. The offense was pretty much a C+ today (A+ on a few drives), but that and ST have been carrying this team so far this year (with a few heroic stands from the defense thrown in).

  274. Trevor

Heard Nate Burleson say DK would be the best WR in the game in a year or two and I think if he stays healthy that is quite likely with Russ as his QB.

  275. charlietheunicorn

    Action green = Undefeated lol

  276. charlietheunicorn

Zimmer not going for the FG…… hum that was a tough call late

    • Lewis

It really wasn’t. Take the FG and go up by 8

  277. Trevor

The NFL must love the Hawks on Primetime because they have some crazy games.

  278. Noah Parker
