Scheduling notes for tonight

December 5th, 2021 | Written by Rob Staton

Hi all — I am working on BBC national radio again tonight for Pittsburgh vs Baltimore so won’t be able to dedicate my time to the Niners game. There will still be a post-game live stream but there won’t be an immediate ‘instant reaction’ blog post.

  1. Hawk Finn says:

Ok, CFB fans: Kenny Pickett’s “fake slide” – why wasn’t he ruled down? He initiated the slide, and that is where the whistle should be blown. Blown call or an exploitation of the rule that could lead to player safety issues? I can see lots of QBs getting blown up now if it stands.

    • Peter says:

You got to hope for blown call. Otherwise I think some defenders especially if tgey were on the recieving end of that would look to blow up the qb asap.

    • Peter says:

Also it’s college where goofy crap can be fun but jumping cripes Pickett looks slow as a Manning on that run. And there’s easily a couple dozen near 300 pounders playing in the nfl that could chase him down before he even contemplates a fake slide.

    • Big Mike says:

Terrible officiating. Whistle should’ve been blown and ball down where he began his “slide”.

  2. Belfasthawk says:

    Good luck!

I will tune in during HT in the Hawks game. Enjoyed it last time!

  3. Peter says:

    Rob…

I empathize wth you getting pulled away from one franchise circling the drain only to have to discuss another franchise…circling the drain.

AP: 17 carries for 22 yards

Metcalf: three targets for 2 catches and 16 yards

    Exploding head indeed

  5. Peter says:

    Re: Kelly Smith.

A follow up about eastern washington’s Eric Barriere.

My only concern with small school guys racking up monster yards is (not always of course) that they are superbly scheme dependent.

Barriere is playing under the same coach who had Vernon Adams getting national attention some years back.

I’m excited to see a few qb’s at the senior bowl because most of them this year are uninspiring to bad.

    • Big Mike says:

I watched Barriere on TV 2xs this year (grew up in Spokane and my nieces both are EWU grads thus the interest). I’m not a scout or even half as smart at evaluating college guys as many including Rob, but he didn’t look at all like an NFL QB to me. I think you’re right about the scheme Peter.

  6. Blitzy the Clown says:

This Michigan team feels like a team of destiny, and the program ascendent. What a joy to watch them play.

    • Big Mike says:

Rooting for them for sure. Eff the SEC. Sick of ’em.

    • TheOtherJordan says:

Yeah, I’m sick of the SEC too. But the destiny of Michigan is about to run into the reality of Saban assuming they get past Georgia.

    • 12th chuck says:

it is awesome to see a good team play their best football at the right time of the year, only to be followed up by seahawks Saturday night and crashing back to reality

    This troubles me.

This kind of tweet, which always follows a knuckle rapping, and the language used (a decade of winning, when the issues we see today are the culmination of four poor off-seasons) give off the air of a franchise that isn’t primed to make sure things are right at all.

The first thing you need to do is acknowledge the extent of the problem. Not chalk it down to an “off year”.

    • Ok says:

Extremely troubling. Competitive. You can almost hear the gum chewing in the background.

    • bmseattle says:

      That is ominous.
So… it doesn’t matter how awful things get this year… we can just chalk it up to one bad season, huh?

If she wants more than a half full stadium next year, there *better* be some changes.

    • Blitzy the Clown says:

According to Garafolo, Pete Carroll “…just frustrated right now that the message that has gotten through for so long is not getting through right now…”

Ah yes, that’s it. Too much wax in the players’ ears I suppose.

Hey Siri, show me an example of embarrassingly lazy “journalism”

    • Roy Batty says:

      Good grief.

Here I thought Garafalo had finally given at least a threadbare rope for us to cling to.

Then Allen’s people took a machete and promptly hacked that rope into little bits of string, all whilst we fans tumbled back down into the abyss.

I guess the only way she changes her tune is if empty seats and horrible merchandise sales start drastically hitting the bottom line.

    • Big Mike says:

It’s gonna be a very long several seasons it feels like 🙁

  8. Ashish says:

Can today’s loss against Niner results in firing Pete?

  9. cha says:

    https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1467547151924445190

“What I’m hearing is the Seahawks have Russell Wilson under contract for two more seasons, so they envision a future with Russell Wilson as their quarterback.”

Let the jockeying and posturing begin.

  10. BobbyK says:

    Seahawks/49ers Predictions

    1. 49ers win time of possession 37 minutes to 23 minutes.

    2. Adrian Peterson breaks 1 run for 10+ yards but is held under 35 yards rushing total.

    3. Seahawks lose. Again.

    4. DK Metcalf goes psycho in frustration and Pete says it’s all good. Nothing to see here.

  11. BobbyK says:

There have been many years of bad drafts (and a terrible big trade) that have gotten us to this point, but I will say this: the 2020 draft is not among the bad drafts. It’s a good looking draft class.

Granted, many of us here wanted Jonathan Taylor in the 1st round and that would have been better but the top 3 picks look good now. Brooks is a solid player. He may suck a bit in coverage but he’s a great attacking tackler. Taylor might not be the brightest bulb, but he can get to the QB better than anyone we have. That might not be saying much, but at least he’s on the field and making life difficult for opposing tackles on 3rd and long. That’s worth something. Damien Lewis is a good NFL guard. Alton Robinson is a good use of a 5th round pick (who we all know should play more) and even though a guy like Freddie Swain isn’t good – he’s a good 6th round pick. A somewhat solid WR/PR who, most importantly, is one of those cheap guys on a rookie contract that make him more valuable than the Benson Mayowa’s of the world (not good, but get millions to not be very good). Parkinson has shown us nothing and I don’t particularly care for DeeJay Dallas but overall I think we can look at the draft and say it’s well above average.

But when you trade for a Jamal Adams, you’re pretty much guarantees the next few years of drafting will suck. It’s not that you’ve traded a singular 1st round pick for Adams, but the fact that the 1st rounder could have either been used to:

    1. Draft a cheap player.

    2. Used to trade down to acquire other cheap players.

But, NO, they have to not only trade the picks but pay a heck of a lot of money to Adams which prevents taking that $17 million per year into giving it to a stud FA OL of some kind.

  12. cha says:

The #Panthers fired OC Joe Brady.

  13. Trevor says:

Watching Bryce Young direct the vaunted Georgia defense yesterday and excel on 3rd down conversion was a breath of fresh air as a Hawks fan in need of some QB options in the draft.

    Proposal

Trade Russ to the Giants for (2)1st Round Picks this Year and a 1st in 2023 + Daniel Jones

    Trade DK for a 3rd this year and 1st + 3rd in 2023

Trade Adams for whatever the hell you can get

Cut Bobby this off season as a cap hit

    Plan

Use this years draft capital to add young talent to the roster with a focus on the OL / DL. Use the 1st round picks from the Giants to draft an LT and Edge Rusher while maybe even adding more draft capital via trade backs.

Daniel Jones would be the stater next year and perhaps he shows some talent but in all likelihood the team would be in complete rebuild and playing in the NFC a definite candidate for the #1 pick.

Target Bryce Young as your QB of the future in the 2023 draft and continue adding talent around him in the draft as well as free agency in 2023 as the Hawks should have a crazy amount of cap space.

Would it suck that the Hawks would be dreadful yes but at least it would put them on a path going forward to be legit Super Bowl contenders. I don’t see that ever happening with Russ who is a very good not great NFL QB and needs an elite roster / defense to have any chance at playoff success.

    • Roy Batty says:

I don’t see any new GM or coach trading Adams until after 2022.

His cap hit is only $9.11 million next year, but his dead cap is $16 million. Relative to his contract, as a whole, that is a small cap hit.

In 2023 that cap hit balloons to $18.11, but his dead cap is reduced to $12 million. Much more palatable if he is offloaded. You actually save $6.11 million by cutting him, as opposed to 2022, where you are paying him more to be elsewhere.

Unless he severely regresses and starts becoming a locker room cancer, he is a Hawk next year.

    • Big Mike says:

Bryce Young will be the likely #1 overall pick so………..

    • Peter says:

I get where you are coming from with some of this.

Young was good on third down but let’s be real….

He wasn’t that accurate and when you look at the stat line it reads a bit like good Wilson. Three Wr’s averaging over 10 yards. One over 16 yards. And one guy catching it just 7 times for plus 180 yards. That’s a lot of ‘”bombs away,” offense.

Maybe it is time to move on. Or….maybe it’s tome to find a coach/coordinator who can find ridiculous openings in a formidable defense like saban/obrien did yesterday.

    • BobbyK says:

If you want the #1 overall pick in ’23, then you better not add good young talent. Use those picks for future picks to ensure you suck enough to get the #1 overall pick in ’23. Then load up.

Trevor Lawrence has disappointed a little bit this year. I still think he’s going to be a good one. But I’d trade Wilson for Lawrence if given the opportunity. Jacksonsville has got to be sick of sucking and they obviously need change. Again.

  14. swedenhawk says:

Joe Brady out as OC in Carolina. Wow.

  15. CHaquesFan says:

Nice Rob, congratulations on being on BBC national radio!

  16. Big Mike says:

Watching the Chargers v. Bengals and the LA RB fumbled and a Bengal was trying to run it back for a TD until Justin Herbert tackled him to keep him from scoring. It was a better tackle than most I’ve seen for the Seahawks’ D players this year. Now he is 6’6″ 250 but it was also a near perfect form tackle, from a QB. Bad assed

  17. AlaskaHawk says:

A major injury for SF is a bad way to start a game.

It’s hard not to be negative about todays game. But who knows? Will Peterson even play? Pete isn’t known for putting new guys in right away.

  18. Hawks4life says:

Well at least DK got a catch lol, what a terrible way to start. But what play by Homer

  19. Sea Mode says:

    LOL, wow!

ST is literally the only thing we have going for us this season!

  20. AlaskaHawk says:

DAmn , what a play!!! Big Balls Pete, you can’t fire him now! Sign Homer up for a 6 year contract ASAP.

  21. pdway says:

    well that was fun….

No wonder it caught the niners off-guard….I was shocked off my couch….

  22. Blitzy the Clown says:

SF defense is weakest in the middle with Warner and Greenlaw out but Seattle opens the game by attacking the perimeter?

Good on the fake punt call and excellent execution, but if not for that trick play, that’s another 3 and out to open a game.

  23. Matt says:

Seahawks Twitter: “Russell sucks and never throws short passes.”

Seahawks Twitter: “No not those types of short passes.”

I find myself despising this group of people.

    • Tanner says:

Regardless of the outcome of the game, I just wanna see russ ball out to shut these people up. There are seriously people calling him a locker room cancer lol

  24. Sea Mode says:

Haha, the perfect welcome to AP to our OL…

  25. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Pocic just destroyed there.

  26. Hawks4life says:

We use far to many screen passes

  27. Sea Mode says:

Story of our season: whenever it looks like we might be gaining any positive momentum, shoot ourselves in the foot.

  28. AlaskaHawk says:

It was fun while it lasted! This whole best turnover rate in the league is just proof that the stats don’t tell you everything or even very much about the Seahawks. This team sucks to the core.

  29. Paul Cook says:

Our offense sucks beyond comprehension. Then we get an amazing fake punt play that turn into a TD. Then a defensive 3 and out stop, then back to the offense for a fumble that quickly results in a SF TD.

  30. Troy says:

3 drives and nothing for this PATHETIC offense.

    • Roy Batty says:

As much as I wanna see a good screen pass, 5 bad screen passes is not helping satiate my need.

  31. Mick says:

Peterson looks like a complete waste of time.

  32. Hawks4life says:

3rd and short….yeah let’s throw a terrible pass down the field. Why look for a easy completion in the middle

    • Troy says:

There is nothing easy for this offense

    • Matt says:

I’ve never seen a more poorly designed offense except for may UW 2021. It’s just atrocious. OL can’t block. QB struggling. Our 6’4” WR gets manhandled by small corners. Just a joy to watch.

  33. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Fumbles on consecutive possessions 🤦🏻‍♂️

At least Dickson is on his game. All hail Special Teams!

  34. Chris Banta says:

Russ locked on do from the second that ball was snapped

  35. Paul Cook says:

Typical Hawk offense. Three nothing-burgers in a row.

  36. Hawks4life says:

Great play by Bobby now can we please capitalize on this with a methodical short drive

  37. Sea Mode says:

Good ole Jimmy G for ya

  38. AlaskaHawk says:

Hmm our offense is moving backwards.

    • Troy says:

The defense gifts the offense great field position and look what happens. This offense is trash.

  39. Ashish says:

Get ready for how good is Bobby Wagner?

    • Troy says:

Give the guy credit for making a play instead of trying to fit the narrative around here.

      • Matt says:

        Lol – ok bud.

No other MLB in the NFL is making that type of play. I mean…who could
Intercept a pass thrown right at them…with no one within 3 yards of him. Impossible, spectacular play.

        • Troy says:

Pretty spectacular compared to what this pathetic offense is doing, BUD!

          • Matt says:

Great response Troy – yes, I think the offense is amazing, bud.

            • Troy says:

Likewise to you. My comment was to give him credit for making a play. I didn’t say it was spectacular or impossible. You said that sarcastically back at me. Have a good day.

              • Matt says:

You brought up “the narrative.” That’s why I responded rudely. Bobby has sucked. He was gifted an INT. I’m glad he made the play.

The whole team sucks. I’m done doing the offense versus defense thing that apparently has taken over Seahawk fandom.

  40. AlaskaHawk says:

Shouldn’t there be a penalty for two linemen landing on top of Wilson???

  41. Chris Banta says:

    Wow

  42. Paul Cook says:

    2nd and 43…LOLOLOLOL…I don’t think I’ve seen that before.

  43. Sea Mode says:

    2nd and 43. Lovely.

  44. AlaskaHawk says:

That field goal was like Pete Carroll at the urinal – wide and to the right.

  45. Ashish says:

    Its so pathetic..

  46. Chris Banta says:

    This team is so bad

  47. Roy Batty says:

So far, the most entertaining game they’ve been in for quite a long time.

    Hilarious.

  48. Paul Cook says:

    Nothing again. They went backwards…

  49. Chris Banta says:

Our offensive line is so bad it’s hard to do anything on offense

  50. Big Mike says:

Nice coverage peacock. You’re only a step and a 1/2 behind a fullback

  51. Blitzy the Clown says:

Ridiculously obvious hold on Mone on that missed pass to Juszczyk

  52. Roy Batty says:

    Adams WHIFF!

  53. bmseattle says:

nice almost tackle by Adams there.

  54. Big Mike says:

I don’t know maybe it’s just me but I would think on 3rd and 2 you would kind of key on George Kittle

  55. Roy Batty says:

I’m gonna go ahead and predict another screen pass-deep bomb-rush up the gut combo coming from Russ.

    Then a punt.

    Then a penalty.

Then a shot of Pete’s mouth hanging open.

  56. Matt says:

There are real life people that actually hang their hat on pretending this defense is really good.

Man this team just sucks, all around.

  57. pdway says:

jesus our offense is bad. i am having a hard time understanding the regression even from earlier in the season.

i severely overestimated our O-line too….they are terrible right now.

I don’t really know anything to say other than they need a complete refresh….

    • Matt says:

      Oh I think it’s real easy –

      Schematically awful
      OL can’t block
QB struggling, playing scared, while coming off injury
      No Run Game
Our stud 6’4” WR plays like he’s Wes Welker, just not as tough

      • pdway says:

i mean, it’s crazy right? they look like an expansion team. how have we sunk this f-ing low.

god Pocic is terrible, Curhan too..

        • Matt says:

          It’s wild.

Completely broken. I mean irreparably. You have to replace the HC, OC, and probably 8 guys on offense.

  58. Paul Cook says:

I’ve just about run out of things to say about this team. How bad can an offense be? It’s historically bad now.

  59. Big Mike says:

2 seconds before he was sacked. Plenty of time come on Russ
    End sarcasm

  60. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Ethan Pocic is bloody awful

  61. Sea Mode says:

2nd and 19. Let’s run Penny up the middle behind Pocic.

    #PCout

  62. Ashish says:

Pocic is not even trying to block. Our coaches are blind or have no knowledge of football.

  63. Mick says:

If you throw 5 kids from college OLs together, they can’t look as bad as this.

  64. dand393 says:

Well if the offence keeps going like this rest of the year which it will we are going to have to trade picks with Wilson just so another team will take on his contract

  65. Chris Banta says:

If fans quit going to the games Jodi Allen might be forced to make some changes. Otherwise it’s likely to be status quo next year unless Pete retires.

  66. Matt says:

Not gonna defend RW – he has been terrible. But I’ll say this, no QB has a chance with this scheme and this OL. It’s atrocious.

  67. Paul Cook says:

Is this one of the worst starts for a Seahawk offense ever? I’ve got to put together a play-by-play of each Seahawk offensive play just to remind myself later of how bad it was.

  68. Chris Banta says:

Russ is looking she’ll shocked because of this offensive line

  69. 206 says:

I’m surprised to not hear more boo birds out after that series

  70. McZ says:

    What a sh**show.

  71. Roy Batty says:

Jamal Adams to be burned deep in 5, 4, 3,…

  72. Blitzy the Clown says:

Wow they found a way to get Robinson on the field, and dontcha know he made a tackle.

  73. Chris Banta says:

At this point he Robinson should start the rest of the year so you can properly evaluate him.

  74. pdway says:

I know i’m preaching to the choir here, but I don’t know how anyone can watch the team perform like this – on both sides of the ball – and not conclude that management changes are needed.

  75. Chris Banta says:

I’m not sure if it’s true or not but there are rumors Jodi Allen is not happy

  76. Roy Batty says:

Jesus Niners. Just throw it to Kittle every play. You’d be up by 28 at this point.

  77. Roy Batty says:

How in the hell is Freddie Swain now thee number one.

  78. AlaskaHawk says:

One thing about Jody Allen and Pete Carroll.

I”ve met several charismatic leaders and they sound quite convincing, even when they don’t accomplish anything they said they would. She may very well think he deserves another chance. Or that he could be moved up in the organization.

  79. Ashish says:

Hawks RBs are so bad that Peterson looks good

  80. Roy Batty says:

3rd and 3 and that’s the play they call.

    Bottom of the barrel, folks.

    Bottom.

  81. AlaskaHawk says:

That was a decent long ball from Wilson. Even if Lockett couldn’t haul it in, the play didn’t fool the 49ers a bit.

  82. Sea Mode says:

    No, pls. Not Lockett

  83. Blitzy the Clown says:

Because if the first backwards pass doesn’t fool ’em, the second one definitely will 🙄

SF’s safety wasn’t fooled, though he did incidentally trip Lockett to prevent the reception.

  84. Blitzy the Clown says:

I give AP credit for his effort today

  85. Blitzy the Clown says:

JFC this half seems interminable. There’s still 6 minutes left.

  86. Sea Mode says:

Delay of game on a TO. Comical.

  87. Robbie says:

Delay of game after a time out to prevent the delay of game is unacceptable.

    • bmseattle says:

      it’s also hilarious.

Really, this kind of thing isn’t anything new for this team. when we were a good team, we could live with it.

  88. Hawks4life says:

How fucking pathetic, delay of game out of a TO. Followed by the best throw and catch of the year.

  89. HOUSE says:

The season has been brutal and this game continues to show it. Things that will need to change:

Coaching: Pete has gotta go at this point. I think Norton had overstayed his welcome. New head coach has gotta be much more offensive-minded.

QB: I hate to say it, but Russ looks checked out. I know he was injured and I still don’t think he’s 100%. I don’t even think a new offensive-minded coach keeps him around. I see a trade happening and us maybe looking at a stopgap/competition for 2022 unless the new leadership LOVES a rookie.

RB: Carson is injured YET AGAIN… While talented, there’s no reliability in a RB that can’t play more than 10 games and then we’re scrambling the others games.

WR/TE: Lockett/DK/Swain/Eskridge seems to be our only solid position on the entire team. TE will need to be addressed again in the mold of the new offense.

OL: outside of contracts for Jackson and Lewis, the whole damn OL needs to be blown up.

DL: Needs a shot in the arm as well. Too many rotational type guys.

LB: Wagner can’t make $20M next season. I have always loved Bobby, but something has gotta happen with that #. If he’s cut/traded, I think Brooks slots over to MLB and then we need an outside LB.

CB: We need to find a star… Reed/Jones/Brown are good complimentary pieces, but none are a TRUE #1.

S: I’m pretty sure Diggs is gone. Can Neal play there? Adams is a mess and I wish we could walk away from him. Blair was hurt once again and while he’s shown some flashes, I’ve never seen him healthy.

So many holes/questions with little draft equity. A Russ trade creates some draft picks in a big way, but creates a HUGE question mark. The team is shifting and doing it as fast as possible is the ONLY way to do it!

  90. Blitzy the Clown says:

Call a T/O to prevent the delay of game, only to get called for a delay of game is peak 2021 Carroll Seahawks

  91. 206 says:

I don’t care about the great play to DK, that was pathetic clock management

  92. Paul Cook says:

A delay of game after a time out. WTF!

DK actually held on to it. Nice pass and catch.

  93. Chris Banta says:

That’s Seahawks football, 2 bad plays bailed out by a fortunate deep pass

  94. Kyle R says:

I’ve seen monkey shit fights at a zoo more organized and effective than this offense.

  95. Chris Banta says:

He 92 hawks offense was more effective than this one

  96. Big Mike says:

Looks like the 40 niners are exploiting a weakness in Seattle’s coverage when they throw to kittle. I wonder who that weakness is?

  97. AlaskaHawk says:

I wonder if 49er fans go as nuts about Garoppolo flubs as we do about the Seahawks offense?

  98. Paul Cook says:

If the 9ers lose this game, they will have to be thinking to themselves “we lost to these guys?”

  99. Blitzy the Clown says:

Was that Ford with a wicked spin move off the snap to pressure JimmyG?

  100. 206 says:

Not to get nostalgic, but I do miss Kam and Earl laying the boom. Adams best hits wouldn’t even make it on the highlight reel

  101. Hawks4life says:

So the hawks wasted all 3 timeouts lol

  102. Sea Mode says:

What a comedy of mismanagement. All these wasted timeouts are just the icing on the crap cake.

  103. 12th chuck says:

seattle starting to miss manage time outs, which means this might be a close game?

  104. Chris Banta says:

Was Daryl Taylor out covering the slot we?

  105. Roy Batty says:

Looks like Shanghai read my earlier comment.

Just give it to Kittle and it’s game over.

  106. pdway says:

Kittle is good, but also I’ve always kind of hated him.

  107. AlaskaHawk says:

Kittle = Built like Metcalf and catches like Lockett. We need a couple of players like him on the team.

    • Peter says:

If only DK could be that. Athletic freak of nature who could almost be unstopable

    • 12th chuck says:

I would much rather have an offensive line that is mid-tier league wide. no time to pass, can’t run the ball

  108. Hawks4life says:

Didn’t get the best look but was Reed being held on that Kittle TD

  109. Sea Mode says:

    DJ Reed held

  110. Blitzy the Clown says:

Amazing play by Kittle. Sad play by Wagner who used to make that kind of tackle routinely.

  111. Big Mike says:

Who was it here that said just keep throwing the ball the kittle?

  112. AlaskaHawk says:

Okay last series before the half. Lets call a fake punt!

  113. Paul Cook says:

Not to be redundant, but we have no timeouts now.

  114. Hawks4life says:

So a mismanagement of 3 TOs leaves us with nothing at the end of the half

  115. Roy Batty says:

Who the hell is Dee Skridege?

  116. Blitzy the Clown says:

Just a leetle high by Wilson on that throw to DK

  117. AlaskaHawk says:

    Whooo Hoooo!!

  118. Blitzy the Clown says:

    That’ll do rookie. That’ll do.

  119. pdway says:

well, credit where it’s due…nice drive. good to see Russ getting the ball out of his hands quickly, and not just out to the sidelines.

This has the feel of a crazy game….

  120. Big Mike says:

    Must be Geno time

  121. Paul Cook says:

I can’t believe we scored. But it’s in the Hawks playbook. Wait till the very end of the half or the game, and then play offense like it matters.

  122. Robbie says:

If we could play our two min offense all the time that would be great.

  123. AlaskaHawk says:

Good to see them finish the half strong. Even if half the yardage was from ruffing the passer calls. Nice TD throw to the rookie, we been without our top draft pick for too long this year.

  124. Peter says:

Now all we need is for one player out of 11 to stop george kittle and this might be winnable.

  125. AlaskaHawk says:

That first half was entertaining in the sloppy play. These two teams were meant for each other.

  126. Paul Cook says:

We have to post the log of our first 5 offensive possessions. That was epically bad.

  127. Paul Cook says:

    This effing Jackson Pollack game.

  128. Blitzy the Clown says:

Our special teams are really, really…special

  129. Paul Cook says:

Great 3rd down slant pass to DK. More of that please.

  130. Peter says:

I guess we’re a west coast offense now

  131. Big Mike says:

Somehow that has to be Wilson’s fault right?

  132. Paul Cook says:

    OH EFF ME!

  133. AlaskaHawk says:

Everett = you got to make that catch. Wilson has been playing decent today, lots of catchable passes.

  134. Roy Batty says:

Sooooo, maybe bench Everett and play Parkinson now?

    Yikes.

  135. Blitzy the Clown says:

    wtf

  136. Robbie says:

    Unreal

  137. Ashish says:

Seriously what else can go wrong

  138. Sea Mode says:

    Sigh.

  139. Hawks4life says:

Time to bench Everett? Fumble and cost us a TD on a perfect throw and easy catch for a TD….

  140. pdway says:

what a bizarro game this is…

  141. 206 says:

Remember when Everett was on the Rams a couple years ago and dropped whiffed the pass, knocking it to Diggs. That was oddly familiar

  142. Big Mike says:

Wilson had to have thrown that too hard right?

  143. Chris Banta says:

We actually looked like a real offense there for a while. Because of that play we will probably start just throwing bombs now.

  144. Roy Batty says:

Who the hell is Carlos Dunlap?

  145. Blitzy the Clown says:

    YES! Dunlap too!

  146. Peter says:

Guess we can’t have anything nice. Also everett can go next year as well. Pointless signing

  147. Sea Mode says:

    What an insane game.

  148. Hawks4life says:

This is one exciting game I’ll say that

  149. Robbie says:

    Hell yeah Dunlap!

  150. Paul Cook says:

This game is existing in some warped parallel universe.

  151. pdway says:

this is already the craziest game of the year…and there’s 10 mins left in the 3rd

  152. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Btw, Curhan >> > Fuller

  153. Roy Batty says:

This is such a classic Hawks-Niners game.

Carzy, up and down, anything and everything happening.

    Love it.

  154. Blitzy the Clown says:

Russ starting to look like Russ

  155. Roy Batty says:

Penny with a Freddie Jackson block!

  156. Paul Cook says:

Tyler Lockett is our MVP this year. Is there any debate on this?

  157. Blitzy the Clown says:

OMG Penny just made a sack saving block!

We are officially in the Twilight Zone

  158. AlaskaHawk says:

Just seeing Eskridge out there contributing is a refreshing change. and Penny too.

  159. Sea Mode says:

Had Norman beat. Throw got away from Russ.

  160. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Bosa wasn’t offsides?

  161. Bmseattle says:

    Didnt Bosa jump there?

  162. Paul Cook says:

Has anybody ever noticed that when RW frantically changes the play at the last second at the line of scrimmage that it’s almost always to a run up the middle?

  163. Roy Batty says:

Win or lose, I have been entertained.

    It’s been soooo long.

  164. Chris Banta says:

Offensive line needs to be a priority next year!

  165. Sea Mode says:

Dunlap gets sack for safety. Next drive: put in Green.

    I don’t get it.

  166. Blitzy the Clown says:

Nice play by Mone all the way out to the sideline

  167. 206 says:

    I like Mone. Keep him

  168. Roy Batty says:

    Diggs is a pick machine.

    And still no extension.

    Inexcusable.

  169. Bmseattle says:

So, if Adams is worth 17 million/year…hiw much is Diggs worrh?

  170. Paul Cook says:

Praise the Lord for Jimmy G.

  171. Roy Batty says:

Ummm, how about a slant over the middle Russ?

  172. AlaskaHawk says:

Now we are cooking! Good play.

  173. Blitzy the Clown says:

    McLovin it!

  174. Sea Mode says:

    V12, all he does….

  175. Blitzy the Clown says:

Nobody drops the football right into the receiver’s breadbasket like Wilson

  176. pdway says:

enjoying the moment. what a strange team and game…. Niners just bring it out in us I guess.

nice to see the offense looking quick and decisive, and a good looking TD throw.

fun to see the crowd back into it too.

  177. AlaskaHawk says:

You want a soggy 49er defense with that??

  178. Robbie says:

This is the most entertained I’ve been all year (prior to opening day in Indy)

  179. Canadian Hawk says:

    Ya…#3 ain’t going anywhere.

  180. Chris Banta says:

It’s funny when Russ is decisive and gets the ball out of his hands our offense gets in a ryrhym and looks good

  181. Big Mike says:

Nobody in the NFL adjusts to the ball on flight like Tyler

  182. Troy says:

As a Rus critic the last year…this is vintage Rus, good accuracy, getting the ball out quick and with accuracy (mostly), not a surprise it comes as a result of our running game being better as well. Probably a combo of better running game / his finger is better / WR+TE getting open. Only that egregious Everett play is an INT but that isn’t on Wilson at all.

    • AlaskaHawk says:

This is the best I’ve seen Wilson play in a years time.

      • Troy says:

Agreed, by far his best performance. He has carried the offense today, and put balls in spots where his guys can win. Actually enjoyable to watch him play, and surprise we are actually converting 3rd downs! It’s like a different team today.

    • Big Mike says:

He’s had better pass pro overall too. Not great, but better.

    • pdway says:

yeah, the running game has always been so damned important for the team’s and RW’s success. I wonder if we’ve underplayed the significance of Carson not being around.

  183. Roy Batty says:

    Pay Diggs.

  184. Paul Cook says:

Jordan Brooks really hits. So does Diggs.

  185. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Fumble!

  186. Roy Batty says:

God almighty this is such a Hawks-Niners game!

  187. Sea Mode says:

Looked more like a dirty hit to the head from Taylor on that quick replay.

  188. Paul Cook says:

Does tie go to the fumble? That’s what it looked like to me on first glance.

  189. pdway says:

    we can’t decline that penalty?

  190. AlaskaHawk says:

Hmm that late snap screwed the Seahawks. Almost like the ref waited to see how the 49ers play would occur before throwing the flag.

  191. Roy Batty says:

I want a Will Dissly seam route right now. The Niners are hurting at LB.

  192. Paul Cook says:

    Pre-snap penalty

  193. Sea Mode says:

I thought Penny’s best runs came running on the edges. So why the heck does he run up the middle into his own OL’s backside every run?

  194. Paul Cook says:

We HAVE to effing score now. We have to take control of the game while we have the chance.

  195. Roy Batty says:

    Brown looks sooo old.

  196. Paul Cook says:

Anoterh quick hit to the middle of the field. Good job.

  197. Blitzy the Clown says:

I didn’t even realize Adams was out

  198. Chris Banta says:

When Russ holds the ball bad things happen

  199. pdway says:

O-line coming up small again, right when we need them to step up

    • Paul Cook says:

We like close hear attack games too much. Therefore we have to punt rather than go down the field for a game controlling score.

  200. Bmseattle says:

Adams has a shoulder injury, huh?
I wonder if it’s the same one he hurt last year?
    Shoulders can be chronic.😬

  201. 206 says:

    #33 is out, who cares.

  202. Roy Batty says:

    Start rolling the pocket.

    Russ can’t take much more.

    • pdway says:

i know. And one thing you could just never ever question about Russ….his ability to take a punch. he’s been a tough player his whole career.

  203. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Dickson is so money

  204. Sea Mode says:

Can we just watch our ST all game, please!

  205. Paul Cook says:

We need Jimmy G to do his Jimmy G thing now more than ever.

  206. Chris Banta says:

Could you imagine Dickson with the l.o.b it would have been a huge advantage

  207. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Not a reception

  208. Sea Mode says:

    That’s an incompletion IMO

  209. Paul Cook says:

You have to complete the catch, right? If so, no go.

  210. Poli says:

I hate how that Everett drop counts as an INT for the QB

  211. pdway says:

that’s a successful challenge for Pete Carroll. alert the media.

  212. Blitzy the Clown says:

I loathed Jim Harbaugh when he was the 49ers HC. But I freaking love him as Michigan’s HC.

    What’s up with that?

    • 12th chuck says:

man, was thinking the same thing. If the hawks fire Carrol, would it be worth a run at Harbaugh as head coach?

  213. Roy Batty says:

Who the hell is Rashaad Penny?

  214. Paul Cook says:

Bailed out! Now make something of it.

  215. Roy Batty says:

I say again, who the hell is Rashaad Penny?

  216. AlaskaHawk says:

yee Haw, Penny’s best run of the season!

  217. pdway says:

that’s where Penny teases us….he’s got playmaking ability, no doubt

  218. Sea Mode says:

Harlan makes this game so much better!

  219. Robbie says:

A success screen pass?? TO PENNY?? What planet is this!

    • 206 says:

Great play, but if he got tackled running laterally along the first down marker I’d be livid!

  220. Paul Cook says:

Best play by Penny in two years.

  221. pdway says:

patchwork line out there now man…first look at Forsythe. big dude.

  222. Hawks4life says:

The saddest thing about penny is we know he can make great plays but they come far and in between… definitely not a starter but if he stayed healthy and we has a decent line he would be a good spark for an offense

  223. Roy Batty says:

    Please don’t go conservative, Pete.

    Please.

  224. AlaskaHawk says:

They put Homer in????? Are they going to fake the punt again?

  225. HOUSE says:

That’s the Penny we all hoped for. lol

  226. Hawks4life says:

Great call to go for it! Now get the TD!

  227. Troy says:

Why couldn’t the offense play like this all the other weeks man…

    • pdway says:

      i know

just enjoying the ride today…. 3-8 gives you a certain freedom from the normal stress, I’m noticing.

  228. Blitzy the Clown says:

I’m glad Homer picked up the first. But why is he the one to try the conversion?

  229. Roy Batty says:

    Shoulda kept Homer in.

  230. Hawks4life says:

Yikes Everett has had a terrible game

  231. Blitzy the Clown says:

    wtf Everett

  232. pdway says:

give me a break….everett having the worst game a TE has ever had

  233. AlaskaHawk says:

OMG = The CArdiac Hawks in action —– Everetttt you messed up again.

  234. Roy Batty says:

    Hahahahahaha.

    Everett. Had to be Everett.

Way to get conservative and cute Pete.

    Idiocy.

    • pdway says:

that wasn’t a terrible call. a FG probably ices the game. unreal that Everett coughed it up after having two turnovers today….you’d think he’d be focused on the ONE thing he couldn’t do again.

      • Roy Batty says:

Getting cute after calling two conservative runs by a 36 year old RB is not a good call, to me.

Utilizing your QB’s arm is. The arm that got you down the field in the first place.

    • Big Mike says:

Fucking pathetic. 2 fumbles and a dropped TD for an interception. Unreal

  235. IHeartTacoma says:

    J F C

  236. Paul Cook says:

Everett single-handedly giving the game away.

  237. Troy says:

    Cut Everett holy shit

  238. Robbie Williams says:

Everett with his THIRD costly turnover! WOW! Time for the D to step up to bail him out.

  239. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Why a timeout here? Why?

  240. Paul Cook says:

They just can’t effing make things easy. They just can’t.

  241. Hawkster says:

How many touches does Everett have today?

  242. Roy Batty says:

Is Parkinson a scratch, cuz I still don’t know why Everett is still playing?

  243. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Inexcusable blown coverage by Neal

  244. Sea Mode says:

    We need a 3rd Jimmy G moment

  245. Paul Cook says:

    You had ONE job…don’t fumble.

  246. Hawks4life says:

It could be 1st and 20 every fresh set of downs and I still wouldn’t have confidence in this defense

  247. AlaskaHawk says:

Jimmy G has too much time back in the pocket.

  248. Blitzy the Clown says:

Major miscommunication between Jones and Amadi

  249. Blitzy the Clown says:

Seahawks defense giving up chunk plays on this drive

  250. Paul Cook says:

I still can’t get over it. The only thing we couldn’t do there near the goal line was fumble the ball.

  251. 206 says:

Rarely in the game of football can you put all the blame on one person, but today’s game by Gerald is an exception

  252. Roy Batty says:

    My goodness.

The refs are doing their job.

    What a nice feeling.

  253. neil says:

Giving the ball to Peterson twice from the three yard line just to get him the td record was totally stupid. I knew it was coming when they took Homer out. You would think winning the game would be more important. Priorities I guess if you are PC.

  254. Roy Batty says:

    OK kids.

    HERE WE GO!

    Such a classic game.

  255. Blitzy the Clown says:

    smdh

  256. pdway says:

well this sucks…. they’re probably gonna find Kittle for a TD now.

    and no time left.

  257. Hawks4life says:

If I’m the 9ers and I score I’m going for 2 and the win. Why wouldn’t they have the confidence to score on this D

  258. Paul Cook says:

Okay. How can we eff this up?

  259. AlaskaHawk says:

    AHHH the tension builds!!!!

  260. pdway says:

OK – f-ing cover Kittle here!!

  261. AlaskaHawk says:

Hot Damn – Go Hawks!!!! Go Dunlap!!

  262. pdway says:

    how sweeeeet it is!!!!!

  263. Blitzy the Clown says:

    YES!

  264. Roy Batty says:

    Such a great game.

    It had it all.

Thank you Seahawks. This was a much needed pick-me-up.

  265. pdway says:

got to hand it to Dunlap…he does have the clutch gene

  266. Hawks4life says:

We actually pulled it off! What a disaster and fun game to watch lol

  267. AlaskaHawk says:

Got to be top 10 in game wins. What a crazy and satisfying game.

  268. Bmseattle says:

    I’m inexplicably happy

    • Roy Batty says:

I may not like this season and where the team is headed, but I do love this franchise.

Especially when they do this to the Niners.

  269. Peppapig says:

    What a game!

  270. Sea Mode says:

Well, at least some excitement and a win like the old days. Even better to do it vs. the Niners.

Offense still sputtered. PC still needs to go. But that was fun.

  271. TomLPDX says:

What a fun game! Yeah Seahawks!!!!

I love games like this. Damn everitt though. He tried to kill us!

  272. Paul Cook says:

It’s always great to beat the 9ers.

  273. 12th chuck says:

welp, I guess this is the highlight of the season, move over double-punt!

  274. Paul Cook says:

Everett got bailed out in a major way today.

  275. Matthew says:

Seahawks playoff scenarios? Haha seriously though, much needed. Can’t stand watching this era end in any other way.

  276. pdway says:

in good news…Russ looked pretty sharp today. can’t blame him for the plays where the O-line just caved in around him. and he should’ve had 3 TD’s and 0 picks.

  277. Roy Batty says:

    Goodnight Everyone.

    That was some fun stuff.

Comment with you later and tomorrow.

  278. TomLPDX says:

Loved seeing D’ Eskridge in the game tonight!

  279. pdway says:

i think the lesson for me is that even in a crap season, w a broken team….I can still have a lot of fun watching Seahawks football on Sunday.

    • Paul Cook says:

Ditto. Beating a rival at home in an excitingly close game is still pleasurable, in spite of how mind-bogglingly strange and sloppy of a game it was.

  280. Palatypus says:

I would love to see Michael Dickson punt in these conditions in Buffalo.
