You lucky dog! Enjoy the game and the atmosphere and thanks for checking in with us.

Despite a star studded front seven, Clemson is absolutely hopeless defending the run

    • Blitzy the Clown

Bresee has flashed a couple of times like you know he can, but mostly he’s been a non-factor

      • Rob Staton

        100%

It’s been a typical Bryan Bresee performance

Had a couple of moments and then a whole load of nothing snaps

He isn’t coming close to dominating but he teases with a couple of good plays every week

        • Rob Staton

Myles Murphy is a pussycat too

          No fire. No edge.

          • Rob Staton

On 3rd and 21, down 14 with 7 minutes left… Louisville just ran right at Myles Murphy and got 19 yards. Converted on fourth down next play.

I keep coming back to his freshman year. He looked like a beast and the best player on that D. A lot going on with him the past 2 years and I may want him to be better than he is, but I just get the feeling that he will be a guy that people look back and say how did he drop to Team X.

  3. Stuart

Have fun Rob! You have your lucky ball and it’s going start being the good luck charm it was always meant to be starting with a W tomorrow. 7-3 going into the break will be a feeling I had back in 2012.

Life is better when the Seahawks are exciting, it just is. 🙂

I never in a million years can picture saying this, but we need to bring Geno back. His stats this year will rival the best Russell years.

Draft talk-is it possible that the RB from Texas could play a role for us like Debo Samuel does for the 49ers? Could he be on the field that same time Walker III is?

Along this theme, imagine taking 2 explosive playmakers with our 2 1st round picks.

    • Rob Staton

Possibly. I really like Robinson and NFL teams will too. The only concern is you end up diluting both players by not letting them have a chunk of workload. After all, it took Walker a while to get going last week.

    • AlaskaHawk

Thinking outside the box, it’s possible to play Bijan Robinson as the third wide receiver. Get him downfield for short passes while you have Walker in the backfield as a dual threat.

I’m warming up to Charbonnet, RB for UCLA in the middle rounds.

  4. Matt

This is turning into just a miserable looking draft. I’m not sure any QB is gonna be going top 8.

Shoot…might just have to go Bijan Robinson if the Denver pick is high just to insure you get a “good player.” I’m really not joking about that. I can’t remember being so unenthused about a class, as I am with this one.

    • Jordan

Hawks are going to have to go diamond mining again like they did with the ’22 draft.

I’d definitely punt on this QB class though.

      • Rob Staton

I’d definitely punt on this QB class though.

I wouldn’t be too hasty there

I’ve watched all of these players and there’s lots to like. Very few players are perfect in college and the QB’s who are often play for super power teams with easy schemes

    • Rob Staton

I still think 3-4 quarterbacks will go in the top eight

I would urge people not to overreact to wins/losses or bad games. If you go back through history — Mahomes, Allen, Herbert had plenty of those. Joe Burrow is pretty unique.

  5. cha

I really don’t understand why the Seahawks couldn’t get Donkor active for this game.

Apparently the NFL said he had to be on the practice squad three weeks ago to qualify.

First off – how did the Seahawks not know this? The Seahawks knew they were coming to Germany long before the schedule came out.

And second – seriously NFL? You couldn’t just waive Donkor into the game?

You missed a big opportunity to have German fans see a player from their country put the uniform on and play football at the top level.

    • Big Mike

      💯 cha
      Typical NFL

  6. Rob Staton

    Anthony Richardson for the season:

    20 total TD’s

    7 interceptions

Not had a turnover for a month

    Perceptions should be changing

    • Trevor

I like Levis a lot but truly believe Anthony Richardson will end up being the star QB of this draft class and after draft season will end up going #1 overall.

      • Ben P

I hope you’re wrong so that we can get him with our native pick, but I don’t think you are.

      • Rob Staton

I think there’s every chance Richardson goes #1

        • Ben P

Any chance teams are scared off by the lack of passing stats specifically? Even Josh Allen still had a year of 28 tds and 3000 passing yards before he left for the draft. Are Richardson’s tools enough to make teams look past that?

          • Rob Staton

I think any team looking at stats rather than projecting talent is destined to fail

            • Ben P

I tend to agree, but I’m also fishing for hope that the Seahawks can get him this year. Teams drafting at the top of the draft don’t tend to be well run, after all. There’s a reason the Jags have been at #1 two years in a row.

I was looking at some historical context for first round QBs, and Richardson’s peers in terms of stats is basically…just Jake Locker? I know they’re fundamentally different types of players, but that comp isn’t exactly flattering for Richardson. Again, I know that traits and projection is the more important part of evaluation, and that Richardson is a better prospect than Locker (as much as I loved him at UW), but the NFL, for all the innovation you see from individuals, has always struck me as pretty cautious.

              • Rob Staton

How is he a comp to Jake Locker though?

Because I don’t see anything in Richardson that says Locker other than Locker was a good athlete. And Richardson is a different level of athlete to Locker even.

                • Ben P

I’m just talking statistics of quarterbacks taken in the first round. Nothing else.

To be clear, I know that this isn’t a good method of evaluation, and I’m saying as much. I’m hoping/wondering if the teams at the top of the draft might be scared off by Richardson’s lack of production in college. I guarantee that it’ll be his biggest red flag in the draft process (again, I think very highly of Richardson).

                  • Rob Staton

There’s not really a lack of production though. With games still to be played, he has 20 total touchdowns. On a rebuilding team, playing in the SEC, as a first time starter. If he plays the Bowl game, he has a chance to end with 30 total TD’s.

        • Elmer

My thought too. I just hope that doesn’t put him on a crap team with a crap OL and crap at QB, so he doesn’t get thrown to the wolves and ruined.

        • DJ 1/2 way

Sure looked like it today. Does his perfomance this year get extra credit since it is the SEC?

          • Rob Staton

            To an extent, yes

  7. Rob Staton

I’ve just rushed through the second half of Alabama @ Ole Miss

    Byron Young

I’ve been saying for weeks — massively underrated

    He makes plays every week

Get him in Seattle as a 3-4 DE

    • Not so big Mike

Agree 100% Rob ! Young was causing disruption throughout the entire game. He would be an outstanding upgrade to our interior line .

      • Rob Staton

Read someone on another site call his performance today a ‘mini-breakout’

He’s been having an impact all season!

        • Not so big Mike

That other website was probably too focused on watching Anderson that they don’t pay attention to Young . It’s pretty easy to see Young not only stop the run but also collapse the pocket game after game .

  8. Bankhawk

Hope the experience in Munich turns out all that you’d wish it to be, Rob!
Did anybody catch the show LSU LB Harold Perkins put on against Arkansas? He he’d not been on my radar previously-but he sure came off a disrupt or in the Hog’s backfield here.
And, the commentators kept saying “and he doesn’t even really know what he’s doing yet!” If there’s anything to that, he’s the next Tarique Woolen!!

    • Rob Staton

I’ve seen highlights of LSU vs Arkansas and he looked terrific — but sadly only a freshman

  9. Denver Hawker

My word, Penix just stares at his first read every pass. Throws a nice ball with good release which makes him such a tease.

  10. TomLPDX

WA vs. OR is quite a game. Enjoying it.

    • Seattle Person

      First one to 60 wins?

    • TomLPDX

Oh this is a crazy game…back and forth.

    • cha

      It is.

I hope Rob is watching. He hasn’t written enough about Nix or Penix Jr as pro QB prospects in my opinion.

      (kidding)

      • JimQ

Huard had some good things to say about Oregon’s OC-Alex Forsieth, didn’t the Seahawks draft an OC from Oregon before? Maybe an opportunity to fill an IOL need with a day-3 pick?

        • HOUSE

          JimQ,

Yes sir… MAX UNGER. it was prior to Carroll/Schneider, but Unger was legit. He is the guy we traded away for Jimmy Graham

        • Rob Staton

I’ve liked him since last year

Physical limitations but a solid player

  11. Blitzy the Clown

Ha! Huskies ruin the Ducks’ season!

    • TomLPDX

Not sure what that last pass from Nix was (wounded duck?!) but it sure was an anticlimactic end to a crazy game.

    • Jabroni-DC

      BAMMM!!!
Thank you! Big win for Dawgs in the Div-2 PAC 12

    • Hawkdawg

That game featured many notable moments, but two that stick out to me were:

      1) a monumental flop by a Duck receiver at the end of the game, without which the game would have been over before the last bit of drama; and

      2) a monumental throw by Penix for the Huskies’ last TD. Gorgeous, NFL level throw.

  12. Thomas

I say this as a Huskies fan, but what’s the round grade on Bo Nix again? I wouldn’t take him in the 1st but if he was there in the 5th, that would be very tempting.

But hey, I don’t have an eye for how quarterbacks make reads. It seems pretty clear Oregon would have won though if Nix had come back in.

    • Peter

Not Rob but Nix is getting anywhere from 5th to undrafted.

  13. Rob Staton

Heard in the commentary of Washington vs Oregon: “For the second time all year, Nix is sacked.” In their ninth game.

Will Levis is sacked five or six times a game.

    • Blitzy the Clown

It’s a little off putting when he has such a bad game vs a lesser opponent like Vandy.

But the rest of the team is so bloody awful – with the exception of Rodriguez the OL and defense are just dreadful.

      Smart evaluators won’t be fooled.

      • Rob Staton

Vandy have been competing their tails off for the last few weeks

    • Ashish

Had a terrible interception at goal line. The decision making is key for QB 1st and goal at 1 or 2 yards if its not there why to force a play? Have 2 more tries.

  14. Blitzy the Clown

I take it as a good omen that my official SDB shirt that I ordered a couple of weeks ago and totallly forgot about arrived today, just in time for me to wear later this morning
