Take a look at Grayson McCall of Coastal Carolina at QB. He was very accurate on a bad team. Maybe the QBOTF pick in round 3.
That would be too early for McCall
He’s basically a Gardner Minshew type. He’ll go late in the draft. I wouldn’t count him out sticking around but neither do I have any expectations of him becoming a NFL starter
Haven’t watched the video but it’s of a piece with the Lance trade. Not in the sense that CMC is a proven commodity and Lance wasn’t in the least. But the gross overpay isn’t just aggressive. It’s reckless and reeks of desperation.
Maybe McCaffrey gets them to the SB. Maybe he doesn’t. But I don’t think he’s physically capable of providing a solid return on the massive investment beyond this season. And even the entirety of this season is in question.
If he’s healthy and gets help from his O-line the guy is amazing. But with his injury history the 49ers paid too much. The 49ers have pretty much taken themselves out of the 2023 draft and I don’t see them as sellers before the deadline to recoup draft capital. Sounds kind of like a road that the Seahawks have traveled.
Can you imagine this Eagles team adding Bijan Robinson?!?! 😧
Perspective on Hendon Hooker…

Please remember this through the process
Adult Bobby Hill runs a simplified half field offense. It’s a system that makes life so simple for the quarterback. And when you have a top-level right tackle, outstanding receivers who get open consistently and a competent QB — you can have a ton of success. But you can’t run this in the NFL.
I wonder if adult Bobby Hill still practices kissing on that mannequin head.
Sorry, but I have to object to your dismissive attitude here. You didn’t even refer to Tennessee’s coach by name, you just called him Adult Bobby Hill.
Coach Heupel just launched Tennessee into one of the top teams in the country.
He’s obviously a terrific coach, so I’m wondering why you immediately use a dismissive nick-name for him like that.
What the….!?!
No one is calling him a rat bastard, s.o.b., or m-f’er.
It’s just a a silly nickname that doesn’t denigrate him in the slightest.
I see the fun police have arrived
Please no hero trades John!
We’re just starting to get on track…
Played it straight in the draft and won
Didn’t swing for the fence with a hero trade thus far
Hand in glove
Was the opposite for the past 10 years
Arrogantly went against the grain in drafts
Then train wreck trades to attempt to fix it
Hopefully, Schneider is finally starting to get it right
I am 100% certain they’re not going to do that
They’re showing great restraint and building through the draft.
Hope you’re right Rob. My gut tells me you are.
And Steven, Carroll had as much or more responsibility for all the negatives you listed. John is under Pete in the team structure.
A lot of folks, myself included, think John had more to do with this most recent draft than he has in a while. Certainly whatever their process was, they deserve a ton of credit because they obviously nailed it.
Question for you Rob:
If the Seahawks somehow didn’t pick a QB early next draft or at all, what do the prospects look like for a QB in 2024?
To your point in the video about not reaching for a QB and the possibility of the top 4 QB prospects being gone by the time they pick, maybe they don’t pick a QB in the first 2-3 rounds? And, maybe with Geno playing well, maybe that’s all good?
I was really intrigued by the possibility of getting two top DL in the 1st to match our OL focus from the last draft. Also, you’ve mentioned great centers available. Agree that we shouldn’t reach regardless.
So, makes me wonder about 2024… Thanks.
It’s too early to say, Steven
I haven’t studied 2024 eligible QB’s
Thanks Rob
i saw the other day (can’t remember where) that the 2024 qb draft is better than the 2023 draft
People say that every year, usually without watching any QB’s play
That’s also what we were saying about this QB class not even 4 months ago.
Just saw this was posted. Can’t wait to watch the video and read the comments. Tonight, my 11 & 12 year old sons get to embark on the journey of watching Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick!!!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
They loved both movies. They like MAVERICK better because there were funnier parts. lol
Rob do you have Ika Siaki on your board?
I do, as a mid rounder pre-testing
This is a nice play

Shame those have been few and far between from Trenton Simpson this season
Thoughts? From what I remember, I see Tre Brown as a better NCB and Coby Bryant as a better LCB… but I have no idea.
RCB: Tariq Woolen, Mike Jackson
LCB: Coby Bryant, Artie Burns
NKL: Tre Brown, Abraham Camara
FS: Quandre Diggs, Joey Blount
SS: Jamal Adams, Ryan Neal
I think Diggs will start playing better as the year continues (post-injury) and PC keeps both of his prized safeties in 2023 (cutting both in 2024). .
Extend Neal. People seem to be high on Blount (draft FS in 2024).
Then draft Camara as NCB/SS depth for a year before taking over in 2024.
Rob do you think that the 49ers look at this draft weren’t too impressed and said to themselves let’s go all in . On the other hand Christian has missed 23 games in the last 2 years.i wonder sometimes remember all the negative feedback when the Seahawks drafted Kenneth Walker in 2 round.where are those people at ? The niners just gave there entire draft for a 26 running back with injury history and a big contract. Those who proclaim you don’t invest in running back. Jimmy G doesn’t throw the ball deep Kyle likes motion and more motion hopefully to confuse the defense then throws a wide receiver screen deebo breaks 3 tackles and runs 80 yards isn’t that what CMC does? I don’t see CMC running between the tackles to many times a game do you.
They are projected to have some compensatory picks in the 3rd/4th round range. I think this year’s draft will have some good value in the middle rounds. Not like last season because it was almost 2 draft classes in one because of the weird Covid year.
In what may be a good omen for our Seattle Seahawks, the German Pale Ale I brewed for the game in Germany is ready to keg four days early! I think I’ll rack it tomorrow night so it will have a good 22 days to age.
Also got a Kriek for Thanksgiving to put in the secondary tomorrow. Then I’m going to boil a smoked wheat for Christmas I’m calling “The Chimney Drop.”
May your children be handsome, brave and Strong.
Prolst!
Cheers from Marburg!! #goHawks
Does anybody have the cap or draft resources in the nfc west over the next 2-3 years besides the Seahawks? I realize the albatross contracts but all other 3 teams seem like they’re gonna be bone dry man.
Great piece Rob. I understand why San Francisco felt the need to do this, but I think it’s horrible execution. When the Rams essentially sold their future for a win now Super Bowl. Matthew Stafford was a clear up grade over Jared Goff. Picking up the guys like Von Miller and OBJ only made that team better across-the-board. I think McCaffrey hurts Samuel and his injury concerns made this deal not worth the price they paid. I will be curious to see what kind of moves they make in the off-season because they have no money. The Rams don’t look very good and Arizona is a dumpster fire. San Francisco could potentially take this division, but I don’t see them getting too far in all honesty. Horrible investment in my opinion.
I totally agree third Levis is more than likely going to the Panthers at #1 and I am having to come to that realization and learn to be OK with it. I keep watching Richardson and I think if he sits a year, he could be ready to take his lumps as you say. Getting Geno Smith back into the fold is going to be the biggest what if to me. If Smith was not to return, would that potentially alter our draft preferences of a quarterback?
Masi Smith does look like an appealing pick. I am very curious to see how he tests at the combine. I know it’s probably a pipe dream, but if we can’t get Will Levis, may be getting Anthony Richardson and Masi Smith in the first round would be a pretty good consolation prize.
*MAZI… making sure I pay him his proper respect
spot on with the Niners. They keep going ALL IN like the Rams and Hawks before them, and one day wake up with a bunch of overpriced/injured vets and no picks (see Hawks 2 draft picks 2 years ago). All this makes it even more exiting to see the new gen emerge with the Hawks…maybe CMC gets Niners over the hump…more likely they and the Rams suck in the coming years while Hawks make another run with young, awesome talent.
Problem is, we’ve been saying this for what seems like ages. Rams in particular have been loose with draft capital and the cap for years but have yet to see it backfire
We might be seeing it right now. The rams aren’t very good and share nearly the same points differential that the seahawks have.
If and when Seattle wants to remember to play defense this division is wide open.
I’ve been wondering this for a while if you continually kick the can down the road are you really kicking it? Not like the nfl is going to punish them for taking out a loan that doesn’t fault. At least not while pretty boy Mcvay is there
As much as we can rightfully criticize his blocking at times, it’s possible a good bit of the young OL making strides forward is due to his leadership. The calls, talking guys through it before and after plays, giving them that confidence they need. Credit where it’s due.

If Will Levis leads Kentucky in a win over an undefeated Tennessee team next week, does that guarantee him as the top pick in the 2023 draft?… putting him out of reach for Seattle unless we combine first rounders to get him?
I’ll admit I haven’t seen many of Levis’ games live yet but I’ll definitely tune in to the game next week.
I personally think he’s transcending to the number one pick already. Kentucky’s only two losses this year were a close game versus Ole Miss and the next week Levis was out and they lost. Kid is smart, greedy and just loves football. Whatever team gets him is going to be lucky and they need to build around him.
I have watched a lot of Kentucky games and he does not have the supporting cast or the offensive line that Strauder young have and he is showing how good of a quarterback he actually is
Russell Wilson is being held out this weekend. Is this deal looking like a bit of payback for Jamal Adams? Historically, when we were traded with the Denver it is worked out in the past. Time will tell

Did you just see that defensive play Syracuse just made against Clemson?
Funny take Rob….I would argue that I am a BIG fan of the trade because of the continuous purge of SF draft capital 2 of 3 years. Well done Mr. Lynch, you’re letting JS off the hook a bit for the Adams trade.
Peace
