Ohio State’s J.T Barrett passes for 6 touchdowns today against MAC champion Bowling Green. Final score is 77-10. He would make a fine backup QB to RW next year. Plays a lot of read option.
Never liked the QB juggle between miller, jones, and barrett. Too many good qb recruits or no clear cut #1?
You can’t really blame the OSU coaches with that. Both Barrett and Jones stepped up in a big way in 2014-15 when the previous starter went down to injury. Was there any way someone could justify sitting a quarterback who led his team to a national championship?
The Washington Huskies game is looking like an absolute blow out. Ross already has two long TD’s in the first quarter. I believe with how the Hawks are so popular with the young football players coming out of highschool, Huskies recruiting is that much easier! There are quite a few players for the Hawks to go after. Mainly Haseem Victor who is always around the Football perfect Ball Hawks for the SAM! Who wouldn’t want Jon Ross III either!
Awesome time for Football in the Great Nothwest!
Go Dawgs!
Go Hawks!
This team is loaded with talent. Ross is the icing on the cake. Going to be a fun year of football in the PNW
Victor really is an ideal SAM.
Such a physical presence. Great speed. Plays pissed off.
Kind of reminds me of LB Reggie Ragland. Probably a better athlete too.
OKLA vs. HOU
Thought Samaje Perine looked really good up until he sustained some type of arm injury. Joe Mixon stepped right in and showed that home run threat ability on that 30 yard TD run (huge hole).
Steven Dunbar was only a couple inches on 2-3 deep balls that got just past his finger tips. Looked good on his routes outside the numbers.
I like that RB Duke Catalon that Houston has and their CB Brandon Wilson is intriguing too.
Yeah, Catalon stuck out for me also.
I think it’s “Oliver” true freshman dline for Houston…wow…he knows jumps off the screen!
Oliver is the first 5-star recruit to sign with a team outside of the P5 aka power 5 conferences.
Houston is a destination for these kids man. HC Todd Herman is building something special.
How ’bout that Houston D? looks like they have some specimens on that DL that can rush the passer.
Big fan of EDGE Tyus Bowser. DT BJ Singleton is a good looking late round run stuffer too.
Seahawks keep WR Tanner McEvoy. Cut LB Eric Pinkins and Palacio, but hope to get Palacio through to the PS.

Dewey McDonald traded from Raiders to Seahawks, according to a source
Brad Stephens
@BradBGDN
Hearing that former Warren Central and WKU basketball standout George Fant has made the Seattle Seahawks’ 53-man roster.

#49ers acquired WR Rod Streater and a draft pick from the #Chiefs for a draft pick. Traded LB L.J. McCray to #Seahawks for a draft pick
LJ McCray is apparently one of the best ST’s players in the league!
I believe McDonald is a hybrid DB.
No way they were letting Fant go. It’s hard enough to find LT’s, let alone ones that move and have the feet that a guy who played 31 snaps in college does like Fant.
Stephen CohenVerified account @scohenPI 53m53 minutes ago
Per @NinersNation: New #Seahawks safety L.J. McCray had 365 special-teams snaps in 2014-15. Just 7 defensive snaps.

Congrats to former Buckeye Tyvis Powell @1Tyvis making the @Seahawks roster! One of the hardest working guys out there, great move!
LSU vs. WIS
Going into the half right now and Wisconsin has fournette and the tigers blanked. TJ Watt is doing his best big bro impersonation.
Drual keeps making DBs look silly.
Wisconsin LB Vince Beigel has flashed big time.
Fournette is struggling to create for himself. Looks stiff.
There we go Fournette. Let this dude do his thing. He’ll eventually take over if he can create yardage.
Beigle is a stud!!!
SDB faves Travis Feeney and Devon Cajuste cut.
This RB class is insanely talented.
Wisconsin RB Code Clement is a physical back with burst, vision, and toughness, great feet, shifty. Stud. 5’10-5’11, 215-220 lbs.
Josh Sitton cut.
And Justin Gilbert(#9 pick) traded to pIttsburgh for a 6th round pick.
Field Gulls @FieldGulls 3m

Seahawks waived: Brandin Bryant, Troymaine Pope, Kenny Lawler, Tye Smith, waived/injured Jordan Hill, Terry Poole, Marcus Burley
Bummer on Pope. Kinda say the writing on th wall of Hill during Carrroll’s last post gamer. Hamilton had a solid preseason, Jefferson looks like a steal, Reed, Rubin and McDaniel are strong as $@&# against the run. Barring injury this has the makings of a solid DT rotation.
Field Gulls posted the full roster
The Seahawks have an initial 53-man roster for the 2016 season, and this is it:
QB – Russell Wilson, Trevone Boykin
RB – Thomas Rawls, Christine Michael, C.J. Prosise, Alex Collins, Will Tukuafu
WR – Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse, Tyler Lockett, Paul Richardson, Tanner McEvoy
TE – Jimmy Graham, Luke Willson, Nick Vannett, Brandon Williams
OT – Bradley Sowell, Garry Gilliam, J’Marcus Webb, George Fant
OG – Mark Glowinski, Germain Ifedi, Rees Odhiambo
C – Justin Britt, Joey Hunt
DE – Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Frank Clark, Quentin Jefferson
DT – Jarran Reed, Ahtyba Rubin, Jordan Hill, Tony McDaniel, Justin Hamilton
LB – Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright, Mike Morgan, Cassius Marsh, Brock Coyle
CB – Richard Sherman, Jeremy Lane, Tharold Simon, DeShawn Shead, DeAndre Elliott
S – Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, LJ McCray, Dewey McDonald, Tyvis Powell, Kelcie McCray
Special Teams – Jon Ryan, Steven Hauschka, Nolan Frese
Thanks much
So was Hill cut or no?
Tukuafu? I’m seeing they terminated his contract.
I just noticed that….. something is not jiving. I wish they held onto Bryant…. but with some many quality players getting cut league wide…. maybe someone will be brought in
Hill waived/injured.
Kinda glad they held onto Fant. Not terribly surprised Collins beat out Pope. I think Pope might get a chance on another team, the kid was electric.
Seems to be confusion as to whether they hung onto Hill or not.
Still think they could be adding players in the next day or two. Possibly vet QB, lb or DL
Fieldgulls has amended this. They waived Hill, kept KPL.
I can’t do Fieldgulls anymore. Ever since Danny Kelly it seems to have gone downhill.
Since Danny Kelly left I meant to say.
Yeah, I can see that. It’s a source. I enjoy the community here and Rob’s insight, use field gulls and hawk blogger as additional sources.
Oh for sure. Davis Hsu and Bob Condotta or Stephen Cohen are good. Love Davis.
They ain’t Rob Staton or the SDB community, but you get my point. ?
I especially liked DK on the podcasts
Looks like FG goofed.
– Tukuafu and Hill
+ KPL, Terrell
Nice call on Elliott Rob.
I keep thinking this. I liked so many other guys better
Elliot had a really good game against Oakland. Not terribly surprised they held onto him. Terrell can also play corner some.
On Terrell playing corner – call me crazy but I want to see ET3 play slot CB a few snaps a game to throw the other team off.
Georgia RB Nick Chubb appears to back at full strength. What a freak!
It appears Fournette got nicked up today
12 DB’s. I always felt like the depth there was overrated.
Can’t imagine that stats the same by game time next week.
“stays”, even.
Fair point, but then why trade for 2 STer’s?
One explanation: The two trades are conditional and the guys could be cut shortly without losing any draft picks if they don’t work out.
More complicated explanation: The Hawks have something up their sleeves about the SAM spot and are certain matchup lineups, blurring the corner-safety-SAM-LB role and still looking for a guy to fill it.
Gave up a 7th this year and a 7th next year. When’s the last time a 7th made this team?
DE – Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Frank Clark, Quentin Jefferson
DT – Jarran Reed, Ahtyba Rubin, Tony McDaniel, Justin Hamilton
LB – Cassius Marsh
9 situational DL on roster, seems a bit lacking to me….
Ehh, 9-10 O-lineman is about right.
What do they do at FB?
And 7 safeties? Well, 6 cuz’ Powell is a hybrid. But, they did need to address the secondary. Glad they did.
Do we know what they traded for LJ McCray and McDonald?
No, but I’m sure conditional 6th or 7th rounders in 2017 or 2018.
I have been of the opinion they might try Collins at FB…. he made some nice blocks in pass protection…. not big like Will Toku …. but effective. He might be a better runner and pass catcher overall as well.
Entirely possible. Didn’t really think of that. Interesting.
Brandon Williams?
TJ Logan having himself a game for UNC. One rushing TD and one punt return TD for 211 all purpose yards.
I enjoyed watching him he will be someone to monitor this season! Dont sleep on him.
I said that about Collins a couple weeks ago. Micheal Robinson was the last time there was any stability at the FB position. Collins would be a similar type of body if he can develop the same vision. A little Spencer ware tweenerness to him for sure. Surprised at Brynt not being kept for that DL/ goal line fullback and wonder if that’s considered a need or a gimmic.
It’s a really interesting idea. They didn’t show any notion of that in the preseason but Mike Rob was a running back in SF, I believe.
Guess we’ll find out about Fullback soon enough. You guys really think Collins is big enough for that gig? With Nick Vannett and Brandon Williams as the bigger blocking tight ends maybe they’ll use H-back sets or two tight end sets more? Or maybe they bring back”TruckaFool” to the ground?
Hope Lawler and Williams makes it to the practice squad and they should.
Hope Pope makes it as well but he has done enough to earn a gig somewhere.
A side note Ravens released Justin Forsett and Titans released Bishop Sankey both at RB.
Go Hawks!
We will see. They may not be done adding to the team yet.
I have to think so. There’s no way they can carry all those safeties. Something has to change. Maybe they’re moving Kam to FB?
Could be an accounting move? I think we have close to zero cap space, and Tuk’s salary might not be completely guaranteed if they re-sign him after week 1 from what I read. I bet they release one of the safeties they traded for today after the Dolphins game and go grab a fullback. Seems like we use the FB too much to not have one on the roster at all, but maybe they are going to try more H-back formations instead. That seems like a big shift in philosophy, though.
I’m also kind of surprised we only kept 8 DL. I wonder if we don’t try to grab another if we have the cap space.
I guess they have 9 DL if you count Marsh, now that I think about it…
E. Washington WR Cooper Kupp is unreal. Big time playmaker, physical, swagged out.
Now has the FCS record for most TDs with 59!
He’s definitely someone I’m monitoring
We claimed Garrison Smith from the 49ers today. Frankly this makes up for losing Pope. Smith was a monster in preseason as a disruptive DT. Not sure why SF released him, but then again I’m not sure why we cut Pope either. Check him out if you have a few minutes.
