Brandan I spent 90 minutes discussing Seattle’s off-season so far and looked ahead to the NFL draft in two weeks. There’s a lot of detail, some big views and it’s worth checking out below.
Also don’t forget to listen to my interview with Scot McCloughan from yesterday. Over the next few days I’m also going to be publishing interviews with Michael Lombardi and Mike Renner.
You can now support Seahawks Draft Blog via Patreon by clicking the tab below.
Thanks for keeping the content coming. With two kids under three and having to work from home the interviews, articles and comment section have been a great distraction. I can’t wait for the draft.
JJ I’m in the same boat, two kids under 3. One just had a bday on the 3rd this month. I can no longer say 2 under 2 lol
Our 1 year old just learned to walk. Exhausting, would have been easier if he was a bit younger. Love the family time though.
He is faaast…

I have allowed my mind to revisit the idea of the Seahawks taking him with their first pick. It’s far from their biggest need, but I also think the Seahawks scheme is extremely reliant on quality safety play and McDougald was hardly elite last year and could be cut for a 4m saving.
Basically, I think it’s possible, though unlikely, that the Seahawks would have a top 10 grade on him and decide he’s too good to pass on. They could still move up and address the pass rush in the 40-55 ‘sweet spot’ and grab a tackle or a WR at #64.
The Seahawks haven’t spent a top pick on a luxury in the Carroll and Schneider era.
They’re not going to collect another safety with their top pick this year.
Many thought of the Christine Michael pick in 2013 as a luxury pick.
That was a late second round pick Cameron.
When they had a loaded, legendary roster.
Bit of a difference.
Considering that Michael and Ware were drafted and both made the roster behind Lynch and Turbin, Carroll and Schneider seemed to have good insight into a roster weakness in 2013 that they needed to shore up. Also, having since seen them draft Penny with Carson on the roster, and knowing that they hammer home the need for a top running game, we should expect high draft picks on RBs when they a) don’t have excellent depth at the position, and b) the strength of the draft gives them value with that pick.
But I don’t know that I’ve ever heard them say that about safeties.
I like Delpit and think he can be a Pro Bowl safety
Rob, I don’t think he is a luxury pick
You wrote in sep 19 about acquiring Jamal Adams as a BAMF.
Deploy was coincidentally Adams heir and took the mantel as a freshman.
I’d argue ‘Baby Delpit’ as he was nicknamed is a better, more productive prospect and leader than Adams was coming out.
Only a luxury if u don’t want more BAMFs to build around IMO
I wrote about acquiring Adams a month before they acquired Quandre Diggs.
They’ve already made their move there.
If you draft Delpit you’re just wasting picks and money. You’re writing off Marquise Blair after a year and you’re benching Bradley McDougald.
You can’t just keep adding and adding to a position like safety while other areas of your team are absolute crap.
I understand and somewhat agree but…
Diggs is a FS, Delpit a SS. McD is 29 and Blair unproven.
Delpit should be a serious consideration as a BPA.
Plenty of ammo to fill other positions we have other picks and in terms of FA no one but Wagner locked up on D to a long term contract.
I’ll just repeat what I said before.
You can’t stockpile safeties and have holes at other areas. You say Blair is unproven — but so is Delpit. So then what? What if Delpit, like Blair, needs a year to adjust and learn the scheme? Are you going to have two high picks sat on the bench behind the starters Diggs and McDougald?
You say McDougald is 29. That’s why they drafted Blair. To develop him as an heir apparent. If you draft Delpit, you’re basically saying it was a wasted pick. And all the while, other areas of the team are unaddressed.
Listen — I like Delpit. But they’ve invested at that position and it’s time to invest in other areas.
You’re probably right (~99%) and sorry to make u repeat.
It’s very unlikely but maybe, just maybe they take a view.
I guess some of this is my utter frustration that very little scares me on this defense ATM. No position group demands respect nor can shutdown and browbeat an offense as before.
Trying to trust the process and PCJS, and while still I do and am usually level headed, it’s driving me a bit nuts.
Thanks!
Thanks for this Rob- look forward to listening on a walk later today.
Been also questioning “whats the plan” right now. I’ve considered the possibility of a scheme shift to play less 3-4 and perhaps de-emphasizing the traditional pass rushers we’ve been accustomed to. I don’t think the roster is tooled for anything different yet, but I’m entertaining the thought nonetheless.
Rob: You might find this interesting. THis is Michael Bumpus take on the Clowney situation.
https://sports.mynorthwest.com/837494/bumpus-seahawks-smart-not-pay-top-dollar-pass-rusher/
Michael Bumpus works for the Seahawks.
So imagine my shock that he has a positive take on this situation.
Do you think they don’t believe in the secondary?
I think it’s really fine with the addition of Dunbar and a full season of diggs.
It has potential.
Won’t be much benefit though with no pass rush.
Bumpus work for 710 Kiro.
Report on Tuas injuries:
https://twitter.com/ArmandoSalguero/status/1248066148010283008?s=19
Don’t tell the cult of Tua.
There’s a group of Dolphins fans who won’t accept anything other than Tua at #5.
Now watch. He’ll slip in the draft and ESPN and NFLN will lose their minds talking about what a shock it is.
Michael Lombardi makes an all-time fool of himself in that column when he goes off on a laughable tangent regarding JP Losman, Josh Freeman and Jason Campbell. If he thinks he has a legitimate point about Tua’s injuries then just make that point. There should be plenty of backing if he is so insistent.
But when he veers into this preposterous detour regarding JP Losman it does nothing except properly focus matters back onto Lombardi himself. JP Losman “the next coming of Jesus Christ”? Is Lombardi out of his mind? Losman averaged 6.8 yards per attempt in college. That’s more than 4 yards below Tua at 10.9. Losman was forced into later first round after being rated considerably lower than that.
Regarding Michael Lombardi’s report, this tweet reply by Simon Clancy is the best summary I saw yesterday:
https://twitter.com/MattM334/status/1248021707232874497
You’re in the cult of Tua, Awsi.
You’re so unwilling to accept/consider anything but Tua at #5, you’re on here defending his honour every time his name is mentioned. I sometimes wonder if an alarm goes off in your house when Tua’s name comes up in the comments section. I’ve had to start moderating your comments because we can’t even have a conversation in here about Tua without being told off by the cult.
Meanwhile another Dolphins fan and member of the Tua fan club, Simon Clancy, is busy on Twitter calling Michael Lombardi, ‘a clown’. What a response.
But this is what happens when as fans you become so committed to one player in a draft. You all become personally offended when anyone challenges that players status or fit with your team. It’s been embarrassing at times seeing some of the Dolphins fans on here, on Twitter and responding to my mocks on YouTube — becoming so rattled at the thought of Tua not being the pick. Which is a perfectly plausible and reasonable possibility, by the way, whether you like it or not.
Part of me wants them to take Herbert at #5 just so I can have a right laugh at the fall out after.
I just want to say reading your verbal beat downs is an absolute dirty pleasure of mine, nothing quite like Rob laying the smack down. Beautiful.
I guess we can add Dabo Swinney to the cult of Tua. Check out his summation on the matter today. Dabo was the one who offered clarity regarding DeShaun Watson despite all those nitpickings
I’m not a twitter person. I can see how it becomes easy pickings when you’ve got Lombardi making asinine comparisons like that. I would not have been as kind as Simon Clancy.
That’s your response? Dabo Swinney, when asked about Tua, offering up an “I wouldn’t pass” rather than saying anything remotely controversial?
Is Dabo Swinney a doctor? Is Dabo Swinney a GM who has to tell his owner why he just guaranteed a quarterback $30m of the owners money who might fail a medical?
This is what I’m talking about. Everyone who praises or validates ‘the chosen one’ is right and anyone who challenges Tua or says the Dolphins won’t/shouldn’t take him is wrong (or a ‘clown’ as Simon Clancy chose to describe Michael Lombardi).
Never, ever, ever become so centrally focused on one player like this. It’s a massive mistake for many, many reasons.
Not eager to stick my nose into this thread but I gotta say I don’t understand the infatuation with Tua. He’s ok, but he plays on the overall best team and best program CFB — the best OL, the best WR corps, the best defense. Not only that, but where’s the competition? Bama’s out of conference games are against the likes of Colorado State, Vanderbilt, LA-Lafayette and Mercer. Mercer FFS. He enjoyed so many advantages at Bama it would be amazing if he hadn’t excelled.
Does anyone (other than his fanboys) really think he’s going to enjoy those same advantages in the pros that he had in college? And on a team like MIA?!?!! Give me a break.
Look, I hope the guy is ok and can go on to have a long career. But I also really hope MIA are the ones who take him because ‘phins fans are deluding themselves if they think he’s gonna right that wayward ship.
Is there anything to either the Giants or the Redskins pulling an Arizona and drafting a QB in the first round for the second consecutive year?
New coaches in both situations, aren’t wedded to their second year QBs much.
The could really tumble the board around a bit if say Herbert and Love went early.
There would be some tremendous banter if the Giants take a QB after everything Gettleman said about his selection of Danny Dimes last year.
Maybe Danny slipped in the shower? 🤷♂️
I could see the Redskins possibly doing it but not the Giants.
dtto
I wouldn’t think so at #2 or #3. Maybe if they traded down and netted a bunch of extra picks, combined with a QB fall…
Both teams just spent a first rounder on QB last year. Skins don’t pick again until the 3rd round and they still have Alex Smith. Stafford is under contract for 4 more years.
Can’t see it.
FWIW Ive had the same dream two times this week which is strange. Its us trading back into the 30’s and drafting Uche. Then drafting Madubuike either at 59 or with a small trade up. Then the versatile Hunt at 64.
Dream sim. I like it. I’ll experiment with melatonin, CBD, espresso, etc., see what I come up with. Anything to shake the Boise State blues.
The Boise State blues?
(Curtis Weaver or Ezra Cleveland w/ first pick.)
Your dream is plagiarizing Rob’s last mock draft. Those were the exact moves he made in his last 2 rounder video.
I keep dreaming that I wander into John’s house and the phone is ringing non-stop, he’s got his computer open with email and IM alerts going off and his fax machine is spitting page after unread page onto the ground. John is startled to see me and looks up from his video game console with bloodshot eyes. He says he hasn’t stopped playing the new Call of Duty multiplayer in weeks. I look at the screen and see his teammate is “CrazyPete”.
Then I wake up… I think.
Hawks have 16 OL either signed or given qualifying offers… Will probably draft 1-2 and have 1-2 UDFA. We might have 20 OL by the end of the month!
Maybe some of them can have a go at DE
The anti-Cable. OL to DL.
Ha. Nice
Current Seahawks O-Line
LT – Brown, Ogbuehi, Wheeler
LG – Haynes, Jones, Simmons, Roos
C – Finney, Hunt, Pocic, (Britt)
RG – Fluker, Jones, Simmons, Warmack
RT – Shell, Jones, Ogbuehi
Who am I missing? And it sure seems like adding a player that can compete at RT then move to the left side in 2-3 years would be what they need the most. Is Isaiah Wilson stricly a RT?
What players in this draft that will be in the range of picks 27-45 fit that description?
Austin Jackson
Prince Tega Wanogho
Ezra Cleveland
Josh Jones
Lucas Niang
Matt Peart
Kyle Fuller is the missing man.
Maybe Robert Hunt and Hakeem Adeniji for options with our 59/64 pick(s) as well.
Thanks, I knew there was someone missing!
Most of what I read about Hunt and Adeniji say they are RT/G prospects – no mention of being able to play on the left side. I wonder if that will really matter much to the Seahawks though…but Dwayne Brown can’t play forever!
What about Ben Bartch?
Interesting OT prospect, Alex Taylor SC State
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/alex-taylor?id=32195441-5900-6932-22fe-74da0f8f248d
The new George Fant
I don’t love the idea of 6’8 linemen with a 5’10 quarterback.
Giacomini worked with Russ.
Pauline said the same thing (RT/G) about Bartch. Could be an option though. TBH, I get bored watching OL and don’t really know what to look for, so I rely on Rob and others for their OL opinions.
If you can’t get yourself a 10, you might as well find five 2’s!!
The math still works out right? Ouch. JK
At this point I would be shocked if we didn’t come away with Okwara/Zuniga/Matos or Uche/Weaver/Anae. Honestly I think we need 2 of them as well as a 3 tech.
My dream scenario for our first 3 picks would be:
Okwara
Zuniga
Gay jr.
I still hope they just play the media game, sign Clowney and Griffen, maybe cut Britt if they have to and then go on and take a nice WR or one of Taylor / CEH / Akers (whoever is left) in round 2
Totally agree.
That is my personal favorite group, but being practical, I wonder if Hunt should replace Gay in that group.
I badly want Gay Jr. (obviously don’t know about the personality side). This defence got old and needs an injection of speed and reckless abandon.
Hey Rob, who do think are the nastiest OL maulers in this draft?
Hunt, Dotson, Wilson, Stenberg, Lemieux, Becton, Lewis.
Hey Rob! Great content as always. I’ve heard you reference Cody Barton getting stonewalled by an Aaron Rodgers block a few times but I can’t for the life of me track down a clip of it. Any chance you could point me in the right direction?
Not without re-watching the game unfortunately.
But it happened, sadly.
And it wasn’t the first time, unfortunately.
https://twitter.com/JacsonBevens/status/1206314710485725184
Oh god, I’d forgotten about that.
You can’t have guys like that on the field. Sorry, but you can’t.
The Seahawks can’t have their linebackers being stiff armed or blocked by quarterbacks. That’s not going to work. Draft a freaking linebacker please.
If I was Ken Norton, I would show that clip to him before every game to remind him he can’t play soft. Hopefully it will fire him up.
I’ve been looking for that clip too and can’t find it. I remember it and at the time saw it as a rookie mistake thinking he would get flagged for personal foul. Would be nice to watch that play again.
Do we have the cheapest Dline in the league?
Probably.
Might be the worst too.
Looked it up. we are 27th
We do we still have Britt on the books for 11m per when we signed Finney who is a center? Are we waiting to cut Britt until the Clowney saga is over?
Because clearly retaining an injured center and K.J. Wright at about $21m in cap space is more important than having a pass rush.
Can we still cut them to make room or is it too late?
Britt yes, KJ very unlikely. But they could also extend either or both.
Why KJ unlikely?
They passed a date recently that meant it’s now more expensive to cut him. So if they were going to do it they would’ve done it already.
I think Britt still has to pass a physical or they will have to give him an injury settlement?
I would hope that KJ is a prime candidate for a restructure…extend him for one more season, give him a little more guaranteed money for less of a cap hit this year.
The problem they’ve got at linebacker is their two best players are older and very expensive and the younger guys they’ve drafted are not good enough to replace them. And I have reservations on whether Barton will ever be good enough because that rookie season was scary at times.
But because you’ve invested picks and money into the position — it’s very hard to now justify spending a high pick on Willie Gay or even Kenneth Murray, Patrick Queen or Logan Wilson. They need some speed, intensity and freshness there. But they’ve more or less made their bed at the position now.
Barton and BBK are the new Tedric Thompson/ Delano hill 😬
BBK seems to have been drafted for special teams so I don’t think there’s much expectation there.
But certainly Barton has the potential, IMO, to fit right next to those two.
Very true Rob! Hopefully Wagner can get back to his usual play after dealing with injuries last year. KJ played very well last season and PC loves what he brings, but he is starting to slow down some. I don’t know what to make of Barton and BBK looks like strictly a ST player.
I think what’s been mentioned before about having more talent on the D-Line would sure help our LB crew make more plays!
You mentioned the four players above and they likely would all require a higher level pick than what the hawks are likely to want to spend. What about using a later pick and take a flyer on an athletic, developmental LB? Maybe one of these guys:
Davion Taylor, Colorado
Kamal Martin, Minn
Chapelle Russell, Temple
I can’t get into later round, developmental front seven players.
The Seahawks need some freakin difference makers.
Hawks have no reason to cut them now, but I believe both K.J. and Britt will be cut once they need the cap space. Hold on to the aging & injured veterans is the fastest way to get you back into the lottery picks.
KJ won’t be cut.
If that was going to happen it would’ve been done earlier in the year when there was a greater saving to be had.
He can be extended but he won’t be cut.
Agree.. KJ will retire a Hawk. I am assuming a gentlemen agreement in place to restructure his contract whenever they choose.
I take it that you did not agree with the Potential Cap Savings. I’ve always respected your Blog, with no intent in undermining it. Rather, to give attention to other possibilities, like Kevin Dotson when others were focused on Stenberg. Trading up with CHI for pick 50.
All of us are not always right on which players they’re high on. But, I always appreciated that this could be a forum to express our opinions. Then have others express their options, without over working you to give out those options.
Thank you in advance Rob, for your reply.
It’s not that Wall Up — your post was speculative on what cap space they could save by extending certain contracts. And yet it was also integral in creating an argument on what they can/can’t do. The reality is — Britt and Wright could just as easily say ‘no’ to any contract re-working. Or the savings could be higher/lower. And who really knows what they can/can’t save? I didn’t want to go down a rabbit hole talking about what’s possible from a position of speculation.
I think this is my favorite draft from the SIM yet! Adds a good mix of players that could potentially contribute right away along with some developmental prospects. Adds some nice talent to the roster.

I liked your first four picks. The rest left me meh. But four solid picks is a good draft.
I honestly think Ruiz, Madubuike and Zuniga will go higher. Ruiz should leave by 35. Zuniga by 45 and Madubuike by 50. Believe me I would love this draft if it were possible. That’s why I’ve been trying to be more realistic in my sims. This is one I did awhile ago that I think is realistic and I would like..

Yeah I do agree for the most part…but Ruiz is going late first to late 3rd when I run the sim. Zuniga is late 2nd to late 3rd and Madubuike is usually mid 2nd.
I just ran the sim letting it do all the picks and Madubuike went 69, Ruiz 87, Zuniga 88!!!
Not saying it’s accurate, but it’s the closest thing we have right now! And so much fun to play with!
Sorry, Ruiz is going late 1st to early 3rd
Chris Simms WR Rankings
Justin Jefferson #2 – One of the “can’t miss” prospects in the entire draft!
Hamler #4 – Great speed and gamebreaker! Hollywood Brown 2.0!
Higgins #5 – Big bodied outside WR!
Also liked Claypool, Reagor, Van Jefferson.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC_eooiE0Nk
Makes me root for getting Hamler at 64, who I didn’t realize was that good before!
I see a quick, dynamic, explosive playmaker that would bring us a threat that is different than anyone else on the roster! Get him the ball in space and look out! And you know he can go over the top as well!!
What are your thoughts on the best WR for us?
No I’m hoping for DE, RT, WR, RB DT in our first five picks – in that order!
Go Hawks!!
How the hell have the Rams just got a second rounder for Brandin Cooks?!?!?!
Cooks has found himself to be remarkably desirable for trades in his career, never really been sure why.
Also, Bill O’Brien…
Becuase Bill O’Brien is the GM in Houston.
And they gave a 4th back to Houston in 2021.
Bill O’Brien needs to be fired…out of a canon
BoB continuing to meddle with the NFCW while destroying the future of his own team
Maybe we can get a second for Britt…all’s fair in the NFC West
Second helping of desert, maybe.
Everyone laughs at BOB, but clowney had a bum year and then wanted to get paid a king’s ransom. Maybe cutting the weight wasn’t a bad idea, and Jake Martin is a bright young player that I wish we still had.
I agree 100% jacob martin. No one talks about it
O’Brien making it his mission to make it up to the rest of the NFC West after they cried foul for the Jadeveon trade last year.
Watson to SF for Garoppolo and a third round pick incoming.
Yeah pretty crazy. Although if you put the two trades together, he got cooks and Johnson for hopkins. I’d rather have hopkins but it doesn’t seem as bad now. All depends on how cooks and Johnson perform.
A receiver with a serious history of concussions and a back who is worse than their workhorse back in 2019 (who is still unsigned) with an atrocious contract to pair with their receiving back with a bad contract for arguably the best wr in the league all because his baby’s momma would hang around practices too much.
It’s bad
Agreed, he’s not worth a second. If he puts up 60 plus receptions, I’d say that’s adequate for an $8M salary. I will assume they either cut him or restructure the contract after the 2020 season. But completely agree he’s not worth a second rounder.
Even after this year its only a 3 years $39 million contract. Not bad for a dude who will be 27 next year.
Gotta include the picks in there too. The lack of a 1st for hopkins is unreal.
Been playing with the sim, and have gravitated towards the following traade scheme to push a pick into the 40s and 70s. I’m thinking the takings at 64 and 79 are perhaps not likely available, and Bryant at 144 in almost every run seems a bit off too.
I simply cannot get myself to not pick a WR at the top, Clowney will get signed, the trade to pick up #49 goes to best available EDGE.

Give me that second draft.
Bryant at 144 in that is likely crazy, maybe T. Moss is around in that spot.
So, you can get a very good WR in the draft in the second round, but instead trade for a WR with some injury concerns and durability concerns…. after trading away another WR for nickels on the dollar… Bill O’Brien, I was reserving judgement that he was/is an idiot, but this one “tops off the cake”.
He is now in over his head and unfortunately for the Texans…. they are squandering a young QB and some decent pieces (O and D) to go 9-7 at best at this rate.
And now you don’t have a 1st or a 2nd round pick and do not pick until pick #90.
Ridiculous.
Just did the most preposterous mock draft on PFN…
59. DE Julian Okwara

Um…no way this would happen but talk about everything working out insanely well.
As good as the PFN mock is the a lot of the rankings are out of whack. No way Bryant goes at 133.
Agreed, but I think Zuniga and Gay Jr’s draft position is even more suspect than Bryant’s.
It’s time to tell the truth.
And the truth is the Frank Clark trade was dumb as rocks.
its easy to look back and criticize. But at the time, it was a great deal during a time when the seahawks were low on cash and draft picks. Just because it hasn’t paid out yet, doesn’t mean it’s a fail. That trade hasn’t even been completed yet because we still haven’t used the 2nd rdr we have from that trade. And colllier is a year into his career.
It also freed them up to make some other moves ….. it made sense for both teams.
Didn’t some of the capital acquired from the resulting trades of the KC pick help us get Metcalf?
I tried to keep the trades to a minimum on PFN
1 Trade with Jacksonville SEA 1.27 for JAX 2.42, 3.73 and 5.165
42. K.J. Hamler – WR Penn State
59. Justin Madubuike – DT Texas A&M
64. Malik Harrison – OLB Ohio State
73. Cam Akers – RB Florida State
101. Bryce Hall – CB UVA
133. Hunter Bryant – TE Washington
144. Shaun Bradley – ILB Temple
165. Alton Robinson – DE Syracuse
214. Yasir Durant – OT Missouri
I assume they will bring in a few more FA DT/DEs, so they need a developmental type of player… and for later rounds, Robinson looked very attractive.
Only took me 50 years but I have finally listened to my first podcast 😄
Jeremy Chinn S / Southern Illinois is a 2.8 on the 3 Sigma site. 6’3″ 221 lbs.
Comparison on NFL.com is Harrison Smith and his size reminds me of Kam Chancellor.
Very intriguing guy.
Not a need spot, but he could be a defensive building block for many years ahead.
Congrats
Anyone have an accurate count of FA signed vs. Lost?
A couple things stood out to me in this audio recording. We don’t have contract numbers on Irvin. I assume his contract isn’t finalized yet. I personally think that Irvin and Griffen have agreed in principle to deals, but are waiting on Clowney. If Clowney goes elsewhere, the Hawks push out those contracts to May in an attempt to get the comp pick. If they can keep Clowney, those other deals become official shortly thereafter since it would become a mute point.
My new favorite hypothesis is that the Hawks are still trying to land Clowney, ideally to a long term deal and these other deals are in a holding pattern until then. If the comp pick isn’t an option then this theory falls apart as there would be no reason to hold off on finalizing the Irvin and the hypothetical Griffen signing.
I like this theory because it leaves the door open for Clowney and Griffen to book end the line which would be pretty solid if you have Irvin and Mayowa as rotational players and hopefully some improvement from Green and Collier.
This might come at the expense of Britt and require the restructure of other players, but it would be well worth it. #Hope
I agree with the first paragraph 100%
It was essentially a push right now FA that count towards the comp pick in 2021.
I think it could be for Irvin as he signed a long time ago. But there are also other co tracts out there that ha e taken forever as well. The Fowler and Gurley sig ing both havent been announced either. I would disagree with Griffen. I think though if Clowney signed er elsewhere that Griffen would sign the next day.
Agree to disagree. I think Griffen was deciding between the Vikings and Hawks and already said goodbye to the Vikes.
My mock really doesn’t change much from no trades to 1 trade with Green Bay they get 27 and get Denzel Mimms WR. I get 30, 136, 175.
27/30 I take Isaiah Wilson RT Georgia
He is here to replace Ifedi. What he lacks in game playing experience he more than makes up for with being a Physical Monster. His draft grade from the combine was 6.34 which I think could be a little higher.
59 Justin Madubuike DT Texas A&M
He replace Jeffersons spot at tech 3. His draft grade from combine 6.30.
64 Chase Clayborn WR Notre Dame
I just couldn’t take a RB here to many bad memories missing out on Travis Kelce for LSU Michaels. This is a steal here. His draft grade from the combine is a 6.35.
101 A.J. Dillion RB Boston College
I just like this guy. Big and Physical. His draft grade from the combine was 6.27.
133 Hakeen Adeniji OT/G Kansas
I like him to move to G and be insurance for LT if Brown goes down. this guy replaces Fant. His draft grade from the combine was 5.96.
144 Michael Ojemdia CB Iowa
before the combine this guy was given 95 grade CBS 2020 draft prospects before the combine jis draft grade 5.69. I think he higher.
214 Bavvion Roy DT Bayler
This is my AL Wood replacement hope he makes practice squad. He does not have a draft grade.
This is my no trade scenario.
136 Terrance Steele T Texas Tech
Need depth and maybe replacement in future. His draft grade was 5.80.
175 Stephen Sullivan TE LSU
He moved from WR to TE so he’s more of move TE. His draft Grade is 5.49.
I actually really like this draft.
I’m surprised so many of us seem to think Madubuike is going to fall this far. My personal opinion is he will go in the top 50.
I prefer in this order. Justin Madubuikde, Raekwon Davis, or Ross Blacklock one of these guys will at 59
OT Ben Bartch St. John (Minn)
While performing the fun PFN mock drafts, this guy popped p in the 3/4th round range.
This guy sounds like George Fant 2.0 from the Lance Zierlein write up on NFL . com
“Overview
Converted tight end who has added 75 pounds of good weight since stepping on campus but retained his plus movement. Despite a lack of experience and small-school background, his traits and rapid growth in body and play caught the eye of Senior Bowl evaluators. From a skill standpoint, he’s still an undergrad, but on pace for his degree in tackle studies. He’s an enticing left tackle prospect who continues to evolve, but a step up in competition and a need for continued physical development will require patience and could determine whether his final calling is swing tackle or starter.”
Has anyone heard of this small-school guy?
He showed well and was one of the OT darlings at Senior Bowl.
If SEA hadn’t gone hog wild on OL in FA, I’d say he’s worth an early Day 3 flier. But not now. They can’t carry 20 OL into TC. It would be a waste of draft capital.

You expecting a DL heavy draft like WR last year or will they try and add talent to every position group other than OL?
I noticed Trevis Gipson (DE Tulsa) on the PFN mock simulator as a potential 4th round Edge rusher. Watched some clips on YouTube. Reminded me of Mayowa. Wonder if you have any opinions on him?
Just reminds me of an Obum Gwacham type. Too raw to have any impact. Didn’t look great at the senior bowl. Would only take him late.
Wonderful John Clayton name bodge yesterday on Bob, Dave & Moore.
K’lavon Chaisson became….. ‘Bar-keev-a Chase-on’
Looks like Clayton may see the comp to Barkevious as well lol
Haha — that’s what I thought.
Is probably a dumb question and a little late, but is Irvin still going to mostly play SLB, while occasionally put his hand in the dirt, or is he just a DE now?
And does this mean Kendricks likely won’t return?
Apparently he’s a SAM/LEO still. But he’s not going to be 2014 Bruce. He’s going to be doing a lot more rushing than linebacker. And that means Kendricks could return or they could add another player to develop behind Bruce (eg Josh Uche).
I was listening to John Clayton show this more and the cap figures went up and our cap space seems to have shrunk. I got the sense, that we can’t afford Clowney. In fact it looks like we will have to release Britt to free up space. We did pick up B.J. Finney for 2 years and I think Joey is a backup. Center its a vital position. Everything start at that point when he hikes the ball. What if you stayat 27 and took Cesar Ruinz at 27. My other favorite if you trade down to get Lloyd Cushenberry with the pick we got to go into 40-50 range, My third option is to wait and hope for Nick Harris at 101 if he falls there. The crazey part about this year is theres to much Talent on the OL side and Seattle needs to get young here looking towards the future.
I’m looking at the LSu players that I have looked at and I liked Lewis is a G and he’ll be good looks like Carpenter to me. I mentioned Cushenberry at C spot.
The last guy I would like to get at !60 to 180 range and he is;
Stephen Sullvan TE from LSU
This guy is 6’5” 248lbs. 35 3/8 arms, 10 1/8 hands ran 4.66 40, 36.5 VJ, 123 BJ 7.51 3 cone, 4.63 20yd ss. Played most of his time as a receiver but he move to more of a TE roll his last year. He will need help but in time and the way RW works with the guy this just might be finding his first step. So long Swopes.
Honestly the way this year has gone and what I see going forward I have no exspectations of any of my draft picks becoming starters with no OTA’s, Training Camp, and maybe the first part of the season. Hopefully all these guys will Take the year and be ready to go next year looking at that starter spot.
Seahawks seem to get it right mostly (to wit DJ Metlcalf). I like Chushenberry in right range. Hawks will be great, no doubt. But another team will have their greatest draft in 50 year team history. That would be my team!
