My response to ‘Top Billin” and his angry DM’s

Promise… promise… back to football tomorrow with a cap-review from Curtis Allen. However, I had too much fun making this video and wanted to share it…

  1. Mr drucker in hooterville

    His show is unwatchable

  2. Big Mike

Irony indeed. A shame he likely doesn’t get the concept tho

  3. LouCityHawk

This dude has a screw loose

He is trying to emulate some sort of pro wrestling style Kayfabe

The internet has turned everyone into a bunch of fake tough guys.

  4. Charles

Your site. Your show! Humor is always appreciated. Thoughtful and analytical game planning with your thought process is why Keep coming back to your blog! Thank you for keeping it real and sharing the day in the life!

  5. MontanaMike

Sounds like he has penis envy, there’s unlimited tough guys on the internet but that’s a little over the top, I think that’s what most Philly guys are like though.

  6. Rokas

That was hilarious. What’s next? My ankles? My wrists? :)))
Happy that Rob took the opportunity to give us a good laugh and hopefully it will drive some more folks to his channel, even if they are not the most educated ones.

    • Rob Staton

Glad people are seeing it for the bit of fun it was intended to be šŸ¤—

  7. James Z

Just your run-o-da-mill in-bred influencer wannabe. There seems to be more than a bit of psychological incest going around with these 15-minutes-o-fame clowns gumming up an already gummed up media landscape.

BTW, Rob: your takedown of said media clown was textbook stuff and damned funny!

    • Rob Staton

      Thank you

  8. WallaSean

Everyone knows this guy, he won’t bother to guard you until you score 4 buckets and block one of his shots, then he fouls you twice every time you get the ball until you hit game point on him, then he want’s to fight because you disrespected him.

    • Rob Staton

      šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

    • Palatypus

      He’s Allen Iverson?

      • GerryG

Easy now, we talkin’ ’bout practice

  9. Malanch

One of the sad realities of living in a 24/7/365 idiocracy is the inverse correlatedness between artistic viability and commercial viability. Rob, if you were to set your mind to prioritizing channel growth over all else, you would have to dumb things down severely, elevating form and style over function and substance, flash and sizzle over information and perspective. And you would have to cater to an average attention span approximately the breadth of a gnat’s ass, channeling content at a literacy level no higher than a junior high equivalence. Seriously. No exaggeration whatsoever. It’s just the way things are. Anyone who doubts this needs only take a gander at the box office rankings for movies, television shows, music downloads/sales, etc.ā€”or bend an ear toward a typical high school or college graduate as he or she attempts to elucidate matters of history, science, society, politics, literature, or any other subject you care to name.

For the record, my passport reads “USA” and my DD214 reads “Honorable”, and with these two facts registered: I heartily recommend George Carlin’s 12-minute truthbomb, “The American Dream”. Good medicine. I reckon the populations of other countries are little better in this regard, if at all, but we are talking NFL football and Seattle Seahawks fandom, so I’m just keeping it on-topic.

    • Rob Staton

      I heartily recommend George Carlinā€™s 12-minute truthbomb, ā€œThe American Dreamā€. Good medicine

I’ll check it out on my dog walk now šŸ‘

      • Malanch

I guess actually it’s two chapters from Life Is Worth Losing (2005), running from Dumb Americans through The American Dream. No offense intended to any Americans present; Carlin himself humorously panders “Now, obviously that doesn’t include this audience. I understand that. You seem intelligent and perceptive, but the rest of them…” There: SDBers exempted!

    • geoff u

George, an all time great, I will be forever bummed that I had tickets to see him when he passed.

      • Big Mike

My sympathies. I know a guy who had tix for Zeppelin’s Fall 1980 tour that never happened because of Bonham’s death.

        • Malanch

George Carlin and John Bonham: two of my greatest influences ever. I used excerpts of Carlin’s material to teach parallelism in an oral English class I did a few years ago, and the students got a real kick out of it. Speaking of a real kick, when it comes to bass drums, don’t ever let ’em tell you that size doesn’t matterā€”Bonzo knew this well!

        • Palatypus

I had tickets to see Metallica open for Ozzy Osbourne in 1986. But Ozzy got “sick” and had to cancel.

          Then Cliff Burton died.

          • Big Mike

I’ve seen video of that tour, Master of Puppets, and they killed on it. My sympathies.

            • Palatypus

I have seen them nine times.

        • DarrellDownUnder

Me, and took back tickets for a refund. Dumb.

  10. Madmark

This a primary reason I ended up on Seahawks Draftblog to begin to begin with. I was sick of all personnel attacks by people that didnā€™t agree with whatever I thought and that was back in 2010. I can only imagine it gotten even worse. Finding Robā€™s website back then was a Godsend and I come here to my Seahawk news first. I never watched this other and Iā€™m absolutely sure I never will. Haterā€™s got hate.

  11. Huggie Hawk

I think I figured out the balls and feet line! Soccer errr football… I hope lol

    • Hawktalker#1

You never know. With all his talk of pencil whatever, his balls reference could conceivably be some reference to one of his fetishes?

    • Palatypus

You’d be surprised what can happen if you do enough yoga.

  12. Seattle Person

I don’t really know why this is a problem with him? He openly admits he’s not a Seahawks fan and makes videos about the team solely for monetary reasons.

    • Rob Staton

      Nothing wrong with it

      A grift is a grift

Nothing wrong with pointing that out either…

      • LLLOGOSSS

To be fair, he does a fair bit of criticizing in his videos, but to Robā€™s point he titles his videos with the same outlandish hyperbolic clickbait as the others.

I think the better critique is that heā€¦ doesnā€™t know a lot about the team and has some very shoddy analysis.

  13. Dingbatman

Ha! All I can picture is Richard Sherman ā€œyou mad bro???ā€..

hereā€™s a challenge. A timed long form blog post on a surprise (Seahawks related) topic. Must be verified original and upon completion read on camera by the author. May the best journalist win.

  14. JPB

Lurked here reading all the content for ages, not really into posting messages. But felt moved to post by that video.. Iā€™ve had a shit day and that really made me giggle! Iā€™m still giggling and gogoling now..

    • Rob Staton

Glad it raised a smile šŸ˜

  15. KennyBadger

But Rob, TB has an excellent neck. I like how it connects his head to his torso.

    • Rob Staton

He was definitely first in the queue when they were handing out…. necks

      • Malanch

LOL! Yeah, that’s a proper football neck: good for protecting the cervical spineā€”bad for conducting blood flow to the brain.

  16. geoff u

I’m a little disappointed he didn’t bring up anything about you being British, but admittingly it’s hard to top “play with feet and balls” and the impossible to recover from “pencil neck” insult. A real master class in internet bravado.

    • Rob Staton

I think the teeth thing was a British reference, so he scratched that itch

      • Palatypus

Anyone who thinks British people have bad teeth needs to go visit Mississippi.

  17. LLLOGOSSS

That’s funny, I too got into a back and forth with ā€œTop Billinā€™ā€ this week, and I told him the only reason people visit his channel is because he makes videos titled, ā€œ[Your team] is going to annihilate!!!ā€ with a photo of himself making the McCauley Caulkin ā€œHome Aloneā€ face.

He is not a smart person, and is belligerent at the hint of disagreement.

    • LLLOGOSSS

Iā€™ll add that in the argument he told me he should be respected because he has ā€œan above-ground poolā€ from his YouTube career. Be sure to mention the dugout nature of his pool if you want to pay him proper respect

      • Rob Staton

I wish I knew this before, it changes everything

        • Hawktalker#1

Nothing to get overly intimidated about. I understand the above ground pool is actually inflatable.

          • Rob Staton

I can imagine him wearing arm bands too

          • Palatypus

It’s actually a Coleman inflatable hot tub.

Yes, that is actually a thing.

  18. Hawktalker#1

    Billin response video just landed

    • Rob Staton

      I’ve removed the link

I think he’s suffered enough without people seeing that mess of a reply

      • Rob Staton

        One of his comments…

        Top Billin’
lol, I’d love to get a legit 1 on 1 fair fight with him, since he wants to invoke my name for no reason.

        What a tough guy…

        • Hawktalker#1

Perhaps you actually ā€œinvokedā€ (whatever that is supposed to mean) the name of beelzebub.

However, it appears to be enough to invoke a one-on-one fight to the death.

Invoke me and I will kill you. Holy Cow. LOL

      • Hawktalker#1

        Completely understood.

Also wanted to say thank you for the number of new posts you put out. Honestly, I get an immense amount of pleasure reading each and every one of these and every one makes my day. Just so refreshing to get an honest and realistic review of Seahawk activities. It means a lot to me. I just wish I could get an SMS notification when a new post arrives. Thank you.

  19. Roy Batty

Baldwin already posted a response to your response, Rob.

The guy is truly obsessed, at this point.

Hey, Murf, I know youā€™re reading this, because you are quite obsessed with an average viewers take on your channel, so here it is:

You are not very good at what you do.

Thatā€™s it. Nothing more. Just a simple review of your click-bait style.

    Enjoy your rage and creatine.

  20. Henry Taylor

“A man’s neck is his kingdom” is an excellent line.

    • Rob Staton

      Thank you

  21. D

Pencil-neck is an old school put down, i’ll give him props for that. Hopefully this becomes a long standing rivalry that culminates in a live online debate about who has the smallest ankles.

    • Rob Staton

My ankles are not my strong point… I hope he doesn’t latch onto that…

      • Hawktalker#1

        Well done.

      • Palatypus

If he latched on to your ankles. You might be in his dungeon.

  22. Ukhawk

Rob, irony here is youā€™d probably get more followers and/or traffic if you went negative and aggressive.

Know you undeservedly get lots of gumpf from knuckleheads.

    Donā€™t listen to the haters.

Stay classy – love you for it – Ron Burgundy of Seattle Seahawks IMHO

    • Rob Staton

I wish I had Ron’s jazz flute skills

  23. Whywouldntya?

That meathead was coached with his words. Old school low hanging bullshit. Obviously he was coached by someone smarter. His husband probably

  24. HOUSE

    Hey Pencil-neckā€¦

I try so hard to be average. I get loud, abrasive and if you donā€™t agree with me, I belittle you or call names. How dare anyone not have the same jilted thoughts about my Yankeesā€¦ I mean, Eaglesā€¦ I mean, what team am I talking about again?

    šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

The dude is hilarious and mediocre at best. Itā€™s funny heā€™s tried to massage so many other people, but hates you so much Rob.

    • Rob Staton

      šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

  25. PR Hawk

This is the Seahawks content I’m here for šŸ¤£ Great video, thanks Rob.

  26. UkAlex6674

What is this clown going on about?!

  27. Bert Wershington

I’m sorry but this is really hilarious. Silly YouTube man thinks he’s really going out behind the school for a fight. Some people never grow up.

  28. Palatypus

Didn’t I just deliver Vagisil to that guy?

    • Big Mike

      Post of the day

  29. HOUSE

Itā€™s bled over onto Bleacher Report forum now. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

  30. Shambolic Geezer

Years of insight and information from your blog, yet it is this hilarious entry that moved me to comment for the first time. Well played sir! I need to figure out how to work “a man’s neck is his kingdom” into a conversation. It’s now on my bucket list.

Thank you for this and for your recent draft coverage. I was likely one of those who helped crash your site as I kept refreshing the webpage. Sorry!

  31. Mel

The sad thing is, he might actually have a decent opinion. But I have no tolerance for anyone attacking someone for literally no reason. Itā€™s juvenille, childish and overall low class. Really? Dude is gonna threaten to beat you up over an opinion he doesnā€™t like? I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever seen such a thin skinned person in my life.

Clearly all his skin went to his neck!

  32. LLLOGOSSS

ā€œBob Scranton.ā€ He did give you an epic alias, though.

  33. Shawn McElhinney

“I”m the best Seahawks draft commentator in the game. When you try me with a sorry analyst like Top Billin, that is the result you are going to get. Don’t you ever talk about me.” [Rob]

    • Sea Mode

      šŸ˜‚

    • Big Mike

      Very creative

  34. ely

Almost makes one wish they were this guy so you could just call anyone and everyone you meet “pencil neck”

    https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-mugshot-felon-with-booking-photo-that-went-viral-arrested-again

  35. Palatypus

While we are deliberating on all things ridiculous. I want you all to know that I was serious about bringing a drone with a camera to next year’s Senior Bowl practices. And while I was doing research on it I made an interesting discovery.

Did you know there are people out there that make miniature remote controlled blimps?

This site is so pimp it needs a blimp.

How you gonna top that Top Billin’?

Top Billin’ ain’t got no blimp!

  36. LouCityHawk

Now I see why he is busy posting Seahawks videos to support con game.

He doesnā€™t even cut good promos because he canā€™t decided if he wants to be a face or a heel.

Here is the proof – video beef with Staton 4.5k views posted for 3 hours, Last Eagles and Falcons videos 12k views combined in a weekā€¦.Rando video on Mike Morris 24k views.

Imagine how shitty that must feel, having to post random videos for some team you donā€™t really follow, for a place you have no connection with, just because you are so desperate to get some attention.

    • Rob Staton

      Bingo

  37. samprassultanofswat

When someone uses (FOUL Language) they lose ALL credibility. Also says that I can’t make any good points. So the easy thing to do is just smear the other party. In other words they have lost the battle.

  38. Andrew M

Rob, when you have 10 minutes please watch the clip of Bill Burr torching the good people of Philly in an epic standup performance.

    • Rob Staton

I have already seen the ‘Philadelphia incident’ šŸ˜‚

  39. Palatypus

While re-watching this video Rob, I noticed you are wearing the Top Gun Maverick hat again. As I have made you all aware, I live here in Pensacola where the National Naval Aviation Museum is located. All Naval avaiators are trained at Pensacola Naval Air Station and it is the home port of the Blue Angels (when they are not in Mirimar/North Island.)

But at the Flight Deck store in the museum you can get an authentic Top Gun hat, along with the lids of every aircraft carrier that has ever been commissioned by the United States Navy. The carrier in the first Top Gun movie is the USS Ranger. My father proudly served on her in VAW-88. The carrier in Top Gun: Maverick is the Abraham Lincoln. I noticed the bobble head on the bridge.

If you ever get out here for the Senior Bowl you should have a look.

    https://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/

    • Rob Staton

      I would love that

      • Palatypus

And you should dive the Oriskany.

  40. cjcosmos

Maybe the “5k sub ass” part was a compliment? He could have just left out the “20 minutes” part of the statement. This implies great speed on race day…

Just trying to look for positives here. lol

  41. Brian

Honestly I like his videos and have found them insightful.

    • Rob Staton

And clearly you also have no problem with his DMā€™s, otherwise you wouldā€™ve said so instead of defending his channel

  42. Mike

The thing with Murf is that he does great analysis. Honestly, he does.

But he’s an absolute asshole. You can literally disregard the first 3-5 minutes of any video he makes because he spends it insulting his viewership. I don’t know if it’s a Philly thing or if it’s a him thing, but either way, he’s so far from “maximizing his potential” that it’s not even funny.

The fact that he’s in someone’s DMs threatening them shows just how fragile he is. Pitiful.

    • Rob Staton

To be fair, I watched a couple of his videos on draft prospects last summer and thought they were awful. Maybe he was having an off weekā€¦

    • Mr Drucker in hooterville

I can’t watch him without subtitles.

  43. Beastie

Guys an idiot. No question. But I watched him some last season and will say that he was a big fan of Geno early in the season and called that he would be better than people think.

    • Rob Staton

Except that has already been de-bunked

He was apparently in other videos or comments saying how Drew Lock would win the job

    • Blake (WA Fish Quest on YouTube)

If you watch his pre-season analysis (he did at least one Geno video and one Lock video), he had praise for Geno in his analysis. But then said he’d start Lock. He buried me in the comment section for thanking him for his balanced Geno analysis. Saying he’d absolutely start Lock. He started saying he was always driving the Geno bus only after he got off to his hot start.

  44. Buttons

Guy is like an illiterate version of Steven A. “Tell me you are powerless over your emotions without telling me.” Thanks, ya troglodyte.
