No instant reaction tonight

November 21st, 2021 | Written by Rob Staton

Hi all — the BBC has re-acquired radio rights to the NFL and tonight I am co-hosting for Cowboys vs Chiefs. I will have half an eye on the Seahawks but will need to watch the game in full to pass comment sufficiently. I will do that when I get home.

Feel free to use this as an open thread.

  1. Trevor says:

Thats awesome Rob! How can we tune in here in Canada I wonder?

  2. Trevor says:

Watching Kirk Cousins carve up the GB defense makes me realize just how bad the Hawks was last week.

  3. stregatto says:

Congrats, Rob! We’d be proud to hear you. Have you done live match commentary in your BBC role before or usually post-game?

  4. Big Mike says:

I’m going to bring this over from the previous thread. Schneider told Bob Condota that we can’t expect a running back by committee today with plenty of Rashad Penny. I’m sure that means Collins is so banged up he will hardly play if at all. None the less, people will blame Russell Wilson when the offense sputters.

    • Big Mike says:

We CAN expect a running back by committee

    • AlaskaHawk says:

The quarterback is always blamed when the offense sputters = that’s just the way it is.

It won’t matter what they do unless this offensive line blocks better. I expect the Cardinals will put 5 defenders on the line and blitz over 50% of the time. Should be good enough to stop both the run and long passes.

  5. AlaskaHawk says:

Greetings from the snowy north. I see the point spread has increased to 4.5. I wonder if Murray will be playing today and how long he will last? I really wanted to see him in action.

    Go Hawks!

  6. Mick says:

Rob congrats, I’d love to hear you cover an NFL game live!

  7. Robbie says:

1 great run by Penny then checks himself out of the game LOL Classic

  8. Tony says:

Pretty sure just repost last weeks reaction with green bay crossed out for Arizona.

  9. Blitzy the Clown says:

Pretty clear where the on-field deficiency is on that series. OL is incapable of providing adequate pass protection. At least not consistently.

But hey let’s criticize Wilson for, oh I don’t know, holding on to the ball too long.

Also, if you’re going to run 2 TEs, why not have the one on the side Chandler Jones is on chip in off the snap to help out the OT? Poor play calling right out the gate.

  10. Big Mike says:

Is anyone else see hyder running down the field with his back to the play on that screen pass

  11. AlaskaHawk says:

Everyone knows how the Cardinals play defense. They blitz alot and will make Wilson’s life hell.

  12. Blitzy the Clown says:

A rare big man sack for Seattle. Nice work Mone

  13. Robbie says:

Lets leave the middle of the field wide open for McCoy. I could make these throws. COME ON D

  14. Big Mike says:

God this is a bad football team in so many ways.

  15. Tony says:

Seahawks always struggle vs these elite backup qbs.

  16. AlaskaHawk says:

Damn – tough play to defend, Seahawks needed more penetration on the line. I can’t believe how quickly the first quarter is going.

  17. Big Mike says:

Is it any wonder where last in the NFL in time of possession? Not only can the offense not stay on the field but the defense can’t get off the field

  18. OP_Chillin says:

Ridiculous display by the defense. Can’t blame the O on that one, game just started!

  19. Blitzy the Clown says:

Welp that’s pretty much what I’d expect from a defense ranked 21st in DVOA.

  20. Sea Mode says:

We really are going to lose to Colt McCoy again, aren’t we…

  21. Troy says:

So the Seahawks are gonna let Colt McCoy dink and dunk on them all day again. Start looks earily similar to last year vs. Giants.

  22. tanner says:

9:27 colt mccoy touchdown drive to start the game, sounds about right

  23. OP_Chillin says:

    Apparently Penny is already hurt

  24. Blitzy the Clown says:

Schneider pregame: expect a lot of Rashaad Penny today

And yet so far, he has just the one carry, right?

  25. MoBo says:

I think the reason a lot of our fanbase is open to trade RW for a nobody is, that they often (4-6 times a season) see a backup QBs marsh through our defense and think a QB don’t have to be special to be successful.

  26. Blitzy the Clown says:

The worst part about watching a Seahawks game this season is that when things go bad, as they so often do, I know in advance that the coaches won’t be able to help the situation at all, and the only way the Seahawks will win is if the opponent starts making mistakes and/or the Seahawks just get lucky.

Also, I don’t think I can recall a time when Carroll has praised KNJ for his coaching and coordinating. I can only recall praise for Ken’s character and toughness.

  27. Big Mike says:

Listen to those well deserved boos.
This team is a fucking joke

  28. Henry Taylor says:

    That was peak Seahawks football

  29. Mick says:

I don’t see this team putting more than 10 points on the board all game. We look terrible with these sacks.

  30. Robbie says:

Second and 6….lose 14 yards. 3rd and 20. Draw play to Travis Homer. F*** this team!

  31. Peppapig says:

    What a joke! Lol..

  32. Blitzy the Clown says:

Pete Carroll: we’re so committed to the run that we won’t pass on 3rd and 20.

And I totally disagree with the announcer whoever that is. It’s already a disaster.

Even so, damn fine punt by Dickson.

  33. AlaskaHawk says:

I don’t even know what to say = the team actually had some momentum until that stupid play. So unsatisfying that I’m now rooting for the punter. Can we start an over/under bet on the 5 yard line?

  34. SeaTown says:

Pete Carroll is sour milk. He’s expired. He needs to be thrown out.

  35. Peppapig says:

    Wilson looks stoned.

  36. AlaskaHawk says:

Good play by Adams = love the sure tackling.

  37. Blitzy the Clown says:

Benson Mayowa getting all the snaps so far. Pete’s still struggling to figure out how to get Robinson more involved.

  38. Troy says:

DK wants to be elite? Make the catch!

  39. OP_Chillin says:

Tre Brown Mossed and then hurt 🙁

  40. Big Mike says:

    Tre, right knee 😢

  41. Paul Cook says:

    Just another PC type game,,,

  42. Big Mike says:

Ooh, a wasted time out. Cool

  43. AlaskaHawk says:

DAmn refs – why didn’t they review it this time? I think he’s a half yard away.

  44. Troy says:

Oh great. Here comes the hormonal challenges.

  45. Blitzy the Clown says:

Credit where it’s due. Adams is having a good game.

Bad challenge. They almost never reverse these.

  46. Robbie says:

I have a strong feeling we are about to lose this challenge

  47. Big Mike says:

Love seeing and hearing our coach be the butt of jokes

  48. Paul Cook says:

Shaping up to be another TOP nightmare game.

    • Troy says:

      Yep.

      This team is trash.

    • pdway says:

it’s a terrible combination – our D is set up to keep things in front of them, so we get nickel and dimed all down the field, sometimes we hold in the red zone and they get FG”s sometimes they don’t.

And our offense is trash. No run game, and no pass game. I sort of don’t know what to make of Russell right now, if I’m being honest.

      • Paul Cook says:

He doesn’t know how to be a ball control, move the chains QB.

      • Bmseattle says:

I wonder if our defensive scheme doesnt allow for asany interception opportunities.
We used to get them a lot (Sherman especially) on deep, sideline fade routes.
Teams attack our zone differently now, and it seems like our corners are rarely in position to make plays on the ball.
Unless a safety makes a break on a pass over the middle, we have no shot.

  49. Troy says:

    Colt McCoy. Seahawk killer.

  50. AlaskaHawk says:

The only way to stop Colt McCoy is with a helmet to the chin = mumbles to self about recruiting a better backup QB.

  51. pdway says:

the truth is – our defense is medium, kind of bend don’t break, takes teams a long time to move the ball. But not dynamic at all.

And our offense is terrible. Which is a little inexplicable – but also undeniable at this point.

  52. OP_Chillin says:

Just let them score so we can get up to four sacks taken before halftime.

  53. AlaskaHawk says:

They need at least three new offensive linemen and a healthy running back. It’s never going to change until they field a better offensive line. That’s why it’s terrible in both areas.

  54. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Throw the flag! GD right.

Nice persistence by Wilson and Locket there.

  55. Paul Cook says:

According to script…RW heroics as time winding down…

  56. Tony says:

Pete needs to get to that point where defeat is fully set in. That playoffs aren’t happening, the team is trash, the system is broken and the players don’t want to be here. There is no hope that magic turnaround is coming due to the sheer willpower of positive thoughts. That the end has arrived and it’s over.

  57. Blitzy the Clown says:

Nice tackle by Alford to save the TD. But…that’s how you beat the blitz with a quick out.

  58. IHeartTacoma says:

Trade Russell? Who would want him?

  59. Paul Cook says:

Two guys open on that 3rd down throwaway…

  60. AlaskaHawk says:

I’m going to give the offensive line a little credit on that last series. They held up against the blitz fairly well.
Wilson has got to make those throws = his finger is probably still bothering him.

  61. OP_Chillin says:

Ugh, amazing play by Russ to Tyler and then missed open guys on two consecutive plays in the endzone. Frustrating ups and downs.

  62. Troy says:

Wonder how all the Wilson apologists will explain this performance, he had MULTIPLE chances to get TDs and just couldn’t do it.

No joy watching this team, only pain and misery.

    • James says:

umm… I’m not a Wilson Apologist…if that’s such a thing. But it’s clear that his hand is bothering him pretty badly still. Dude can’t throw like himself rn.

      • AlaskaHawk says:

He should be sitting but the Seahawks don’t dare play Geno Smith.

      • Blitzy the Clown says:

Not an apologist either, though I am team Wilson over team Carroll. His finger notwithstanding, Russ’s bigger problem is he’s not seeing the field well. He’s either not going through his reads, or he’s going through them too quickly.

His best attribute used to be that he played as though the game came didn’t come at him too quickly, even when things went off script. He’s missing that now. Lately, he’s played flustered at times, even panicky.

    • Ben says:

You must be the lone Pete apologist. Wilson is not 100% and is playing behind a garbage of an OL, running plays influenced by a 70 year old coach. But yes, it’s all his fault. He must be traded immediately after this game. 🙄

      • Troy says:

Way to assume when you know nothing of the other person. I’m on the fire Pete band wagon. Nice straw man tho

        • Ben says:

Lol at the scarecrow calling me straw man!! You may be in the fire Pete bandwagon (debatable) but you certainly seem to be on the anti Russ bandwagon too. Must be a new fan (I.e. within the last 10 years) Welcome & FOH with your stance.

  63. Big Mike says:

4 lost points all on Wilson

    • Trevor says:

But Mike he has a bad finger. If he is hurt why the hell is he playing. There is no way in the world Geno could have been any worse the last 2 games. the have 6 points in 6 Quarters.

      • Ben says:

Agree. Wilson should not be out there. The finger is clearly affecting his game.

      • Henry Taylor says:

Yeah that unbelievable throw to Lockett that got them into field goal range is completely irrelevant in all of this.

  64. Paul Cook says:

RW is just not good at those quick timing throws that are necessary to be a ball control offense if you don’t have a stellar ground game.

  65. Trevor says:

Seriously if Russ is hurt at all I would not play him another snap this season. Every game he plays his trade value just gets less and less.

    • Henry Taylor says:

Does it tho? I’m pretty sure Russ could play really crap the rest of the year and still get 3 1st round picks.

  66. Paul Cook says:

Lucky. I thought they were going to completely nullify our last drive.

  67. Rokas says:

We make McCoy look like he’s Peyton Manning.

  68. AlaskaHawk says:

    He hooked it !!

Hey I thought this was Pete’s strategy. Stay close for three quarters while wearing them down. Then come from behind for a 4th quarter win. All going according to our fantasies – so why are we feeling miserable?

  69. Hawk Finn says:

Defense really turning the corner. McCoy only on pace for 350/4

  70. Hawks4life says:

Russ over Pete idc how this game or any other goes thus season. Pete needs to go we can cross the road with Wilson’s future after that’s done.

    • AlaskaHawk says:

I can’t see Wilson staying past his current contract. Unless they just give him an immense amount of money.

      • Hawks4life says:

Same things been said with Rodgers but look where he is. I know the situations are different but still I think Russ would love to be here and bring us another championship. I’m open to options but one thing I’m certain about is Pete leaving

  71. 12th chuck says:

this is a garbage team. I can’t believe I let myself get so disappointed every game by a d that can’t stop anyone, and an o that struggles soooo much, and I trick myself into thinking that they’re going to snap out of it and have a good game against a good team

    • Paul Cook says:

      I feel you.

I’ve gone out of my mind off and on for the last handful of years because they cannot seem to scheme and effect an offense that can more dependably move the ball down the field. They don;t have the depth of quality on the offensive line nor the bell cow back one would like. So you have to design a quick strike, shorter yard passing game that reflects this fact.

But they never do with any degree of consistency and I continually let it get to me.

  72. Troy says:

2 to 1 time of possession once again.

Offense is trash. Defense just lets teams dink and dunk.

  73. Gross MaToast says:

Sorry to interrupt the Colt McCoy Show, but..

From the Tacoma News Whatever –

“Jody Allen recently held a midseason meeting with Pete Carroll and John Schneider.

Sunday, she was to be upstairs again above Lumen Field, watching her Seahawks play the Arizona Cardinals.

Seahawks fans and many around the Pacific Northwest have asked how involved Allen is in the Seahawks’ football operations. She became the team’s owner during the 2018 season, when her brother and Seahawks owner Paul Allen died of cancer at age 65.

Recently she led a midseason meeting with Carroll, the Seahawks coach, executive vice president and highest football authority, plus general manager John Schneider. They discussed the state of the 3-6 Seahawks.

On Friday, Carroll, 70, emphasized how normal that meeting with Allen was — that it was not at all out of the ordinary or a reaction to the team being in last place past the midpoint of this season, after making the playoffs eight of the last nine years.”

    So…

Fans are booing, the team looks listless as the owner watches from her suite following a completely “normal” meeting with the head coach.

    Interesting.

    • cha says:

The only thing I find interesting about that, is that Gregg Bell finally asked Pete Carroll a good question, AND that the question was sourced by fan pressure.

  74. OP_Chillin says:

They might need to go back to blitzing like last year. Colt having no trouble with whatever zone looks they’re giving with rush 4 right now.

  75. Big Mike says:

That 3 points is on our kicker

  76. OP_Chillin says:

God I hope being down 10 doesn’t cause them to panic and only call straight dropback passes.

  77. AlaskaHawk says:

Wilson has been using Everett alot more. He’s our poor man’s OBJ.

  78. Hawks4life says:

What a fucking call on 3rd and 7 lmfao.

  79. Henry Taylor says:

Why are we throwing behind the line of scrimmage on third and long?

  80. Troy says:

Is it time to start talking about moving on from Pete AND Russ?

  81. Bmseattle says:

So…are we to assume that Eskridge is hurt again?
    Or…still?

  82. Peter says:

Screen pass on third and long where the only thing seatlle might be good at is deep strikes…

This has got me remembering fullback runs on 3rd and long from holmgren’s end

  83. Paul Cook says:

Basically speaking, the Cards are running an offense that I want the Hawks to run.

  84. Hawks4life says:

If we’re going to continue to play Russell we need to take chances with the deep ball. I know his finger is hurt but how much could it hurt, continuing to run up the middle and throwing behind the line of scrimmage won’t win us the game.

  85. Troy says:

Defense finally does something, Wilson you better get us a fucking TD

  86. Blitzy the Clown says:

Fantastic play by Jones. Way to step up in relief.

Time for the offense to do the same.

  87. Big Mike says:

    Sadly the right call

  88. Henry Taylor says:

Wow. Just ignoring the clear and obvious rule then?

  89. Bmseattle says:

And our first CB interception of the year is…
    Overturned.

  90. Paul Cook says:

That pass to Dissley is what we need more of. Quick and decisive.

  91. Blitzy the Clown says:

It was tight double coverage but the pass was on the money and the great ones make that catch.

  92. OP_Chillin says:

Wow. Bad decision made right by a perfect throw and Metcalf can’t make the tough catch. No breaks after the overturned pick. Rough, rough, rough.

  93. Big Mike says:

A WR with good hands catches that. DK does not have good hands

  94. AlaskaHawk says:

Hmm – between Metcalf dropping the ball and errant passes.
Our they done running the ball? Collins was effective for awhile.
I just don’t think they should depend on Wilson so heavily = the cardinals will keep blitzing.

  95. Troy says:

    Russell Wilson is damaged goods

  96. Paul Cook says:

Ugh. RW just doesn’t have it. That was a pretty easy pass and catch for a first down there.

  97. Troy says:

Either Shane Waldron is a disaster or our QB is seriously regressing

  98. Hawk Finn says:

I sound like a broken record, but no way can we justify a big contract for Metcalf. Character red flags and unreliable in the clutch. Was really hoping for some growth this year.

  99. pdway says:

very tough call on the overturned INT – can’t see how you overturn it once it was called a pick on the field.

but i’m again just blown away by how feeble our offense is now.

  100. Peter says:

This is why this sucks. In the span of a few comments either russ doesn’t have it or DK needs to make that catch….

DK needs a juggs machine either way. Every year he’s limiting his overall level with drops.

  101. Troy says:

1st and 20. No problem. 2 plays. First down!!

  102. Paul Cook says:

This just hurts to watch. Even when they do the right thing on the short passing game they can’t execute. Eff it…maybe we’ll get lucky and win, but that’s about it.

  103. Blitzy the Clown says:

Mone bustin out with two sacks today! Love to see it

  104. Bmseattle says:

He had plenty of time to get up and still throw that.
We weren’t even close to him!

  105. pdway says:

and just to mention . . . .this game IS the season….lose and the playoffs are basically a zero percent chance … would be good to see our team leaders revving the troops up a little more out there. We’re just not that team anymore. It really is time for a refresh.

  106. Rokas says:

So the last time we managed to return some punts was in 2013, when we had Golden Tate?

  107. Paul Cook says:

How long now since sniffing the end zone?

  108. Peter says:

Two score game and Seattle putting the stop on AZ….

    Alright offense.

4 min drills here on out.

  109. Paul Cook says:

    DK…

  110. Blitzy the Clown says:

Oh c’mon DK. Again, tough tight coverage but the great ones make that catch.

  111. DC says:

How long until you pull RW and put in Geno? He’s clear not even close to 100%.

    • Big Mike says:

Yeah ffs he’s gotta make those catches too

      • Scot04 says:

Agree Big Mike. Too many blaming everything on RW. He can’t catch the passes he throws. Yes he had a couple bad timed overthrows. But 2 tough drops by Metcalf and 3 other easy drops. 5 drops don’t help a QB

  112. Paul Cook says:

I give up. Two drops and a sack…

  113. Blitzy the Clown says:

    Sad trombone wah-wah

  114. DC says:

Quite honestly if Pete stays, I’d say JS trades Metcalf, because I don’t see Metcalf wanting to stick around anymore, especially after last weeks comments.

  115. Troy says:

Dissly dropping that easy catch just really sums up our offense

    • Paul Cook says:

I know. Even when we do the right thing on the offense we screw up. Last time it was the bad pass by RW for an easy first down to Swain.

    • AlaskaHawk says:

THe offensive is turning in a group effort to suck.

I still gotta ask why they don’t run the ball once in awhile?????? They are one dimensional right now.

      • Paul Cook says:

It’s because they need to set up the run with the short passes, but we can’t get that right with the drops and misses.

  116. Troy says:

20 straight drives with no TDs!!!!! Holy fuck!

  117. Denver Hawker says:

What’s the logic of trying to convince fans that Russ’ finger doesn’t bother him?

Seems like it’s be an easier excuse for poor play than just saying finger is fine, he just sucks right now.

    • AlaskaHawk says:

Even Coach Jimmy Johnson commented on Wilson playing injured during half time. It is what it is. But he has made a few good throws that were dropped. Probably 5-6 drops by end of game?

      • pdway says:

it’s not all on Russell, but he’s our $35M face of the franchise guy – – in a game like this he needs to be better than average.

        But there are problems eveyrwhere.

  118. Big Mike says:

I gotta believe someone gives you at least a second for DK. I’d take that

  119. pdway says:

well damn guys….this is a grind to watch….we are just not a good football team.

no murray or hopkins. this just sucks.

    • AlaskaHawk says:

And we are playing he team that will win this division. Our only hope was that McCoy would play poorly = but he has looked pretty crisp on his passes.

  120. Paul Cook says:

    Our offense sucks donkey balls.

  121. Joe says:

I don’t know, the cupboard is bare, or has been taken down, splintered and traded for another safety. Bad OL, no depth, defense can’t play with a average offense but looks halfway not awful against the bottom tier qbs. Can’t turn the ball over. MVP punter kicks it into the end zone half the time. No depth is the biggest thing. A couple injuries and whole position groups are in shambles. I agree with most of what rob points out but I’m starting to question comparing this roster to the packers in their darkest days

  122. ShowMeYourHawk says:

This is like watching a family member die a slow, merciless death. This team is unprepared, which is the coach’s fault. It’s lacking talent, which is the GM’s fault. It’s lacking a strategy, which is ownership’s fault. And, it’s uninspired, which is prominently (though not completely) the QB’s fault. A pox on ALL their houses.

  123. Peppapig says:

Can’t wait for the press conference.

  124. Henry Taylor says:

At least Matt Prater is trying to get us the win

  125. Paul Cook says:

How many times this year has our team been GIFTED chances to win games this year and acted like they were completely oblivious to the fact?

  126. AlaskaHawk says:

Now we are talking. A good catch, a good run, lets go Hawks!

  127. Big Mike says:

Hate to be THAT guy, but considering the difference in TOP and how tired the D must be, I’m not optimistic about this next AZ possession.

    • AlaskaHawk says:

That last series shows you can’t take the outcome for granted. But Jeeze why does it only happen sporadically?
Anyway – your probably right about our D being tired. If Brooks has to run back to the end zone again he will blow chunks.

  128. STTBM says:

From Ownership down, this team has no clue, and no heart. Just Hubris.

    Bobby Wagner is a shell.

  129. Paul Cook says:

Iy ain’t a sack if you don’t bring him down.

  130. Bmseattle says:

So, McCoy is officy more elusive than Russ…got it.

  131. Blitzy the Clown says:

This ain’t gonna get it done defense.

Btw and apropos of nothing, James Conner is a player I love to hate.

  132. Paul Cook says:

    We need a sack

  133. Scot04 says:

    Play of game here

  134. STTBM says:

Maybe Seattle should cover Hertz?! Just a suggestion…

  135. Blitzy the Clown says:

“McCoy over 300 yards for the first time in 7 years”

    lmao

  136. Scot04 says:

Yet her interception was overturned but watched this touchdown not be overturned

  137. OP_Chillin says:

Was that on Adams? Colt straight up making plays and seems like his mobility/escapability is greater than Russ’? How is that possible?

  138. Troy says:

Colt McCoy out here proving that last year was no fluke. Seahawk KILLER!!

  139. OP_Chillin says:

    Tough call but dammit Jamal

  140. Paul Cook says:

    Game over. Eff

  141. STTBM says:

Finally. It’s over. The game, the season, the Era…

Feb can’t get here soon enough.

Can we dump Coach, GM, staff AND Ownership? Haven’t been this sick since the Behring Years…

    Adams sucks so bad….

  142. Rokas says:

Out season is freakin done, done, done, done!

  143. Troy says:

Sit Russ and play the young guys. This season is over¡!!!!!!!!!!!

  144. Big Mike says:

Well the Cardinals knew exactly who to target on the goalline. That’s what we get for 17.5 million dollars a year. If we get a new regime I BEG them to trade this pos peacock for whatever you can get for him

  145. 12th chuck says:

lack of offense, and lack of pass rush lost us this game. Adams p.i. is the filling in the shit sandwich we get every week

    • Jordan E says:

It looks like Russ has the jitters. We have no line. Impacting Russ’s playmaking and accuracy. Used to be able to hide it with strong-mediocre run game. We dont have that now so teams just do hella zone and double DK and rush 4.

  146. AlaskaHawk says:

I expected them to lose – but not after closing the scoring gap – and then losing on a defensive interference call. Yuckers.

  147. Scot04 says:

Fitting end. Need Adams to make a play and he gets a PI. Horrible.

  148. Hawks4life says:

Can’t wait for Pete’s press conference lol

      • pdway says:

yep…this was it, the last chance of last chances to salvage the season.

we are going to finish last in our division.

end of an era indeed. we are now both boring and irrelevant. now comes the slog of 7 more weeks of games, and a long off-season.

  149. Troy says:

BLOW IT UP. Nobody is safe…

  150. Hawks4life says:

Im a firm believer we’re having the worst season of all NFL teams, everyone knew what the jets, jags, lions and Texans would be, nobody saw the Hawks being this bad

  151. Paul Cook says:

We knew our defense was going to be challenged this year. but our offense has been absolutely putrid. Much more frustrated with the offense than the defense this year, but they have both been bad. Even our punter has had an off year.

    • pdway says:

100% agree… with Wilson, DK/Lockett, Everett, Carson… and a new OC…that was the hope. wth man, they have been terrible.

I know it’s a post-shitshow-game overreaction , but I find myself thinking, with his all-world escapeability/playmaking faded, is Russell just an above-average QB?

      • Paul Cook says:

He’s not evolved into a ball control, quick strike, possession control QB. That’s why I can’t absolve him of all blame. But I have to temper this criticism with the fact of PC’s and his neanderthal offensive mind. But still, RW could have better attempted to evolve his game. I stand by that.

        • Jordan E says:

I think Russ has the jitters and lost his playmaking and accuracy bc of the pressure. Everytime he drops back it looks like he is looking to see if he will get hit first instead of reading the field.

          • Paul Cook says:

But this is where offensive scheme and approach needs to step in.

            • Jordan E says:

They did. They tried running the ball alot but we have bad RBs / not strong enough oline. The only offense were the plays where Russ had time to throw it.

              • Paul Cook says:

That’s not true. We actually DID try a shorter quick strike passing game, but did it inconsistently and there were bad throws by RW and a bunch of dropped passes. Even when we got it right on the quick strike passing attack, we messed up with drops and poor throws. This made it hard for the passing game to set up the run.

        • Paul Cook says:

PS> I don’t RW is quite as smart and savvy of a person/QB as some people may think he is. He misses some pretty obvious things about his game.

      • Jordan E says:

I dont even think its an overreaction. Were 3-7. We are a bad football team.

      • 12th chuck says:

        you forgot about D. Eskridge,…. oh wait…

  152. STTBM says:

Carrol and his pal Carl Smith have turned Wilson into dog-doo, while Kingsbury coaches rings around them, scheming Colt McCoy to 300 yards and 3 tds…

The disparity in coaching ability could not be more stark.

  153. Big Mike says:

For those of you that wanted to see Curran atb RT, he’s in. Gave up that last sack

  154. JLemere says:

8 weeks away until the end of the Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson era and the start of the John Schneider era.

  155. ShowMeYourHawk says:

“Mrs. Allen, after that putrid showing, how would you like to move forward?”

*Palpatine voice* “WIPE THEM OUT. ALL OF THEM.”

  156. Paul Cook says:

How many points did we leave on the field this year?

  157. neil says:

Is their a new rule in the NFL that I am not aware of? In the 4th qtr Lockett cought the pass and went out of bounds, the clock kept running. On the ensuing Cardinal possession a receiver caught the pass and went out of bounds and the clock kept running. I am not sure if Lockett was contacted before going out but the Cardinal receiver wasn’t.

    • OP_Chillin says:

Was that before the 5 minute mark? The clock only stops going out of bounds with less than 5 min left in the 4th or the last 2 in of the first half.

  158. Schrub says:

All I can do is laugh. Gut the coaching staff and front office.

  159. Big Mike says:

Hawks play again a week from tomorrow. The good news is that Gonzaga has a game that night at 7:00 so I’ll not have to watch the whole game against the WFT

  160. Robbie says:

Since Rob and I are not doing a post game tonight, here are my thoughts. As a fan base we deserve better than this. An absolute disaster of a showing. Home field no longer matters. Our game planning sucks, no creativity on offense or defense. In fact the defense bend but don’t break only matters if you don’t break and your offense can do something. This model no longer works, we don’t have the right players for Pete ball. If Pete does not retire at the end of the year it will be an absolute shame.

Russ isn’t right, missed opportunities left and right. It’s so hard to find a franchise QB in this league, which is why I don’t want to see him go. But I can’t honestly blame the people who want to blow this whole thing up and start over, which includes getting what we can for Russ. I’m not saying I’m on that train, I just can’t blame people for having that opinion. This whole thing stinks, from top to bottom. We have no heart on Defense, we have no fire in our eyes on Offense. We are predictable in every facet of the game. I’m sad it’s come to this, but for Pete it’s “You Either Die A Hero, Or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain” At this stage of his career people are starting to turn on an absolutely legend in Seattle football history. It’s the nature of the beast I suppose. Time to hang them up Pete. Time for a new regime to take over!

      • Paul Cook says:

Amen to that too. I can count on one hand the players who I would grant absolution to for this shyt show of a season. I’m already done with this regime, and open to all sorts of avenues for rebuilding this team and franchise from top to bottom. I think this is becoming clear to most fans now, though there may be disagreement as to how.

    • AlaskaHawk says:

It’s not that Wilson is bad. I just think we have already seen his max potential. Good enough to get into the playoffs, not good enough to make the superbowl. Maybe that is enough if you have an elite defense but the Seahawks don’t have it. I just wish he could develop more of a quick passing game with the occasional screen play.

    • Malc from PO says:

I see there is a post game but I haven’t watched it yet so I hope you get a chance to say your piece!
This was truly awful. This was the best this team can do: there is nothing I can point to and say “so and so could be better”, “so and so made a mistake”. This was it As good as it gets. Good enough to lose to a poorly coached team with a backup QB. It’s done.

  161. Scot04 says:

This is the exact same team we were last year. Lots of issues masked by a QB winning games with a poor roster.
We shouldn’t have won 12 games and yet squeezed out several close games.
Too many upgrades needed none made. Same coaching issues and we’ve seen what were like without Wilson; and when he’s not healthy after coming back early.
We need to hope PC steps down with JS right behind him.
Then hopefully the proper replacements that can build a roster to complement Wilson. I have 0 desire for a complete tear down.
With the right moves they should be able to turn this team around quickly. However, it will not happen with PC & JS.
I picked us to not make the playoffs, but I honestly did not see us being this bad. Here’s hoping for change. Just hope it’s the right people leaving.

  162. 12th chuck says:

I think the only people not disappointed by the seahawks this year are the vegas odds makers

It’s time for the football people in SEA to be honest about the shortcomings in scheme & personnel.

The Seahawks inability to pattern read, cover & finish on D is so, so hard to watch.

The Seahawks passivity upfront & hesitancy of Russell is equally challenging to digest.

    • CD says:

Bobby been collecting a check for a few years. He is giving you what you would expect from a decent 3rd round pick on his 1st contract. He is well over paid and will be gone next year. Far from a Beast.

  166. Malc from PO says:

Delighted for you, Rob, that is great news.
I thought this was the roughest game of the year. The game played out exactly as Pete planned, and we showed that our level at full operating capacity is below that of a reasonable team with a bad coach, backup QB, missing its best offensive weapon, who missed two field goals and coughed up the ball. At home. Really, really bad.

  167. neil says:

On two consecutive plays from the Arizona 9 yard line, first, Everett came wide open in the end zone then Swain, but the ball went to a covered Metcalf. That is on Wilson. I don’t know what is wrong with him.

    • IHeartTacoma says:

He is not a good at the quick game. Three steps, boom, like real QB’s — not happening with him.

  168. Mr Instant Reaction says:

I’m not needed tonight. Rob has better things today as the Seattle Seahawks are led by a man who has been passed by the NFL and needs to retire. Great philosophy from a great coach with poor execution.

    A 300 average is great…in baseball.

  169. Cysco says:

Just got home from a great day in Fort Worth. Sit down on the couch and think “I should probably check out SDB to see if it’s worth watching the recorded game.” Read thread… Nope. Delete game. LOL, this is what this team has made me into.

  170. MattyB says:

Last two games have highlighted how major change is needed. Both Pete and Russell are dragging this organisation down they need to grow up and remove their own personal bullshit
