The best day of my life

At 1:05am this morning, my wife gave birth to our first child — a son, named Henry.

21 hours later, the Seahawks do that in Houston.

I’m not going to write too much today. All I’m going to say is thank you to the players, the coaches, the staff — everyone associated with Seahawks football. You’ve given me a game I can tell my son about over and over again.

It’ll pass the time when we’re making those ten hour flights to Seattle.

  1. Beanhawk

    Congratulations Rob, mother, and Henry!

Glad the Seahawks could give him a birth story to remember!

  2. Mark

Congratulations Rob, and welcome to the world Henry. It’s a good day to be alive.

  5. JC

Is anyone else surprised at Henry and not Russell or Richard or Earl? Congratulations Rob on a big moment in your life.

    • Misfit74

I have to believe the Wife cross-checked with the Seahawks roster…

  6. Colin

  19. PatrickH

  20. JS

Congratulations Rob! Can we get some measurements on this Henry guy?
Are we looking at a free safety? strong safety? linebacker maybe?

    • Rob Staton

He’s got long legs and I’m 6-4 so he’s got the size for the league. Hand size also impressive at one day. Who knows… future QBOTF? Some will argue I’m no good at judging those 🙂

And thanks to all you guys for the messages. Just reminds me yet again why I love writing this blog so much. At the end of the day a blog is only as good as the community it creates and we have a great one here.

  21. Brendan Scolari

    Congrats Rob!!

Great comeback by the Seahawks. Defense really stepped up in the second half. Offense needs some work though. I thought Wilson played pretty well, but the line was bad and the receivers couldn’t get open. Also, Lynch is a beast.

  22. Hawk meat

Congrats. Nothing like the birth of a child.

The best experiences of my life are my children’s births

  23. Michael Kelly

Congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of young Henry. I have a son and he is tons of fun, enjoy your time with him. The Seahawks game felt like destiny to me. Let’s see if they can turn that into a huge run that gets home field advantage through the playoffs.

  24. Paul

Hearty congrats to you and your wife! A good chance to say thanks for all of your work here, too. I’m two little guys into this father thing (5 and 2) and let me tell you, while it will compress your time even further, there’s nothing like it.

What a game. Maybe when you are back the blog, time to look at some early round OL prospects? : )

  25. Michael

    Congratulations Rob!!

Henry, happy to have you as the newest 12!!

  26. germpod

What a blessing for you and your wife, Rob! Welcome to victory station, baby Henry.

  28. AlaskaHawk

Congrats Rob on your new bundle of joy. I imagine after you swaddle him that you can do your RW impression and pass him across the room to your wife! The touchdown dance will be awesome.l

Congratulations to you and your Wife on the new addition. My first child, also a son, was born in July 2008. My life has never been the same. Being a Dad is amazing and I’m glad you get to experience such an awesome milestone in your life. It has to be noted that Seahawks ‘onesies’ should be worn early and often. Best wishes. 🙂
