Live: 2020 NFL Draft (rounds 2&3)

Welcome to the live blog. I’ll be posting thoughts on every pick as they come in.

Join in via the comments section but please — no tipping picks.

This is a key day for the Seahawks. There are lots of good players still available. Their picks at #59 and #64 match up well to the pass rushers and defensive linemen.

Second round

#33 Cincinnati — Tee Higgins (WR, Clemson)
Higgins is fine. He can be productive, especially with Joe Burrow. He needs a big target. But I can’t get over him pulling out of the combine because he needed a ‘rest’.

#34 Indianapolis — Michael Pittman Jr (WR, USC)
The second round kicks off with a run on receivers. This was a big need for the Colts. Pittman is a classy player. The concern is whether he’ll be able to separate.

#35 Detroit — D’Andre Swift (RB, Georgia)
And now here comes the run on running backs. Detroit will have a tandem of Kerryon Johnson and D’Andre Swift. That’s a good duo.

#36 New York Giants — Xavier McKinney (S, Alabama)
He was always overrated by the media. He’s not a rangy safety, he’s a 4.6 runner and he was blitzed a lot. You can get after him in the running game.

#37 New England — Kyle Dugger (S, Lenoir-Rhyne)
This is such a Patriots pick. Versatile safety. Physical. Alpha male. A perfect fit.

#38 Carolina — Yetur Gross-Matos (DE, Penn State)
Roger Goodell said Gross-ma-toast! He must’ve been speaking to JC this week. They needed a bigger end to compliment Brian Burns. I like it when a team commits to improve one particular unit and Derrick Brown plus Gross-Matos will do that.

#39 Miami — Robert Hunt (T, Louisiana-Lafayette)
Superb pick for Miami. Whether he plays guard or tackle, he has a chance to be a long-time exceptional offensive lineman. This is superb value.

#40 Houston — Ross Blacklock (DT, TCU)
I was never a big fan of Blacklock’s. Didn’t have a great short shuttle and his win percentage wasn’t anything special. Shorter arms.

#41 Indianapolis (v/CLE) — Jonathan Taylor (RB, Wisconsin)
The Colts moved up three spots to secure Taylor. They’re building around Philip Rivers and this is tremendous value. A stud player with outstanding upside.

#42 Jacksonville — Laviska Shenault (WR, Colorado)
He can be a playmaker but you’ve got to have a plan for him. He’s caught between a runner and a receiver and he needs a manufactured role.

#43 Chicago — Cole Kmet (TE, Notre Dame)
Everyone says he put on a show at the combine. Check his three cone. It was poor. And that’s the test that history tells us really matters.

#44 Cleveland — Grant Delpit (S, LSU)
A year ago they took Greedy Williams when he fell. History repeats here. Delpit is a top-15 talent. Goodness knows what the league found out for him to last this long.

#45 Tampa Bay — Antoine Winfield (S, Minnesota)
Wonderful player. A huge playmaker. Fast, fluid, mature. Tampa Bay’s productive off-season continues.

#46 Denver — K.J. Hamler (WR, Penn State)
I like this move. You’ve got to try and outgun Kansas City. You’ve got to give Drew Lock a fighting chance. Jerry Jeudy, Noah Fant and now Hamler can help create a dynamic offense.

#47 Atlanta — Marlon Davidson (DT, Auburn)
He’s full of personality but what is his position? Can he adjust to play three technique? It’s a big question mark.

#48 Seattle (v/NYJ) — Darrell Taylor (DE, Tennessee)
The Seahawks trade #101 to move up 11 spots to go and get… Darrell Taylor. A highly athletic, massive potential pass rusher. I love the pick. Go and get some pass rush. Go and get some upside.

#49 Pittsburgh — Chase Claypool (WR, Notre Dame)
Claypool is a fantastic, physical specimen. He’ll do it all — special teams, blocking and receiving. The Steelers always hit on receivers.

#50 Chicago — Jaylon Johnson (CB, Utah)
There was a feeling he could sneak into the back end of round one. This is decent value at pick #50.

#51 Dallas — Trevon Diggs (CB, Alabama)
Dallas double down on value. Whatever anyone says about Jerry Jones — the man has drafted well for a few years now. Diggs can track the ball, he has ideal size and he has as much potential as his brother.

#52 LA Rams — Cam Akers (RB, Florida State)
The Seahawks better get on the phone to Isaiah Crowell or the Beast. The fantastic five are down to just J.K. Dobbins. It’s a great scheme fit, unfortunately for Seattle.

#53 Philadelphia — Jalen Hurts (QB, Oklahoma)
This is interesting. Not sure how Hurts or Carson Wentz will feel about this. Wentz will wonder if he’s looking over his shoulder. Hurts will wonder if he’s going to be stuck behind another QB — just like he was in Alabama.

#54 Buffalo — A.J. Epenesa (DE, Iowa)
I said I wouldn’t take him in the top-50. The NFL seemed to agree. Look — he can do some things well. But he’s lacks quickness. He won’t find easy wins in the NFL. He’ll have to make it happen. He needs to get quicker and stronger.

#55 Baltimore — J.K. Dobbins (RB, Ohio State)
There go the top five runners. Now there’s a serious drop to the next tier. The Ravens love to run and Dobbins is highly explosive and athletic. He delivers in big games.

#56 Miami — Raekwon Davis (DT, Alabama)
Really like Miami’s two picks today. Robert Hunt and now big Raekwon. That’s a lot of toughness and physicality. He has Calais Campbell level potential.

#57 LA Rams — Van Jefferson (WR, Florida)
He’s very polished and well coached. We don’t have testing numbers though. What is his upside?

#58 Minnesota — Ezra Cleveland (T, Boise State)
He was getting a lot of first round buzz but he lasted deep into round two. The Vikings needed some O-line help. He is very explosive and athletic.

#59 New York Jets (v/SEA) — Denzel Mims (WR, Baylor)
This was Seattle’s original pick. It’s unclear why Mims lasted this long. The Jets get good value and fill two big needs with Mekhi Becton and now Mims.

#60 New England (v/BAL) — Josh Uche (EDGE, Michigan)
Another great and typical defensive fit for New England. They took Chase Winovich a year ago. They love players with this kind of size and pass rush production. The Pats are taking their guys. They moved up a few spots here in a deal with the Ravens.

#61 Tennessee — Kristian Fulton (CB, LSU)
This is good value. He lacks size and length but he competes well above his size and like Trevon Diggs he can track the ball.

#62 Green Bay — A.J. Dillon (RB, Boston College)
This is a reach for me. He’s hugely athletic and powerful but he’s also a north-south type who is a bit stiff. There’s no jump cut.

#63 Kansas City — Willie Gay Jr (LB, Mississippi State)
As you can probably guess, I love this Chiefs draft. They’ve taken two of my favourite players. Gay is a fantastic athlete comparable to Bobby Wagner and he’s a playmaker.

#64 Carolina (v/SEA) — Jeremy Chinn (S, Southern Illinois)
The Seahawks have traded down to pick #69 and gain pick #148 (the second pick in round five). I mocked Chinn to the Panthers a couple of times. They needed a safety and Chinn is a dynamic, fast last line of the defense. He’s got range. I don’t know why people think he can play linebacker though. He’s 100% a safety.

Round three

#65 Cincinnati — Logan Wilson (LB, Wyoming)
Love this pick. Wilson is physical and he flies to the football. He’s a leader and was a three-year captain at Wyoming. He had a ton of interceptions. Superb value here.

#66 Washington — Antonio Gibson (RB, Memphis)
The player many talked about in the build up to the draft about his ability to switch from receiver to running back.

#67 Detroit — Julian Okwara (DE, Notre Dame)
He’s going to join his brother in Detroit. This is a great value pick. He had a 23% win rate. He has speed and length. He’s stronger than people think.

#68 New York Jets — Ashtyn Davis (S, California)
This is the pick the Jets got for Leonard Williams. I wasn’t a fan of Davis. Great athlete but his tape is all over the place sometimes.

#69 Seattle (v/CAR) — Damien Lewis (G, LSU)
I love Damien Lewis. I loved interviewing him. He’s a powerful monster of a man. He was superb at the Senior Bowl. This is great value. I thought he was a second rounder. He scored an excellent 97.1 in weighted TEF. Great day for Seattle.

#70 Miami — Brandon Jones (S, Texas)
There were no testing numbers for Jones and this is probably a round higher than most expected.

#71 Baltimore — Justin Madubuike (DT, Texas A&M)
In the last week there were some reports there were character concerns with Madubuike. Nevertheless, he’s highly athletic and has a lot of potential.

#72 Arizona — Josh Jones (T, Houston)
I was never big on Josh Jones. It’ll be interesting to see if there was a reason for him lasting this long. Or maybe the league just weren’t keen.

#73 Jacksonville — DaVon Hamilton (DT, Ohio State)
This is a quality pick for the Jaguars. He can pressure up the middle and he can anchor. He has a lot of potential.

#74 New Orleans (v/CLE) — Zack Baun (LB, Wisconsin)
I was never big on Baun. He couldn’t play rush edge at 238lbs. Yet that’s what he did best at Wisconsin. So now he has to transition to linebacker. And nobody knows how that’ll go.

#75 Detroit — Jonah Jackson (G, Ohio State)
He wasn’t great at the Senior Bowl but his tape was good. He adjusted well to the change at Ohio State. You can see why the Belichick coaching/front office tree like him.

#76 Tampa Bay — Ke’Shawn Vaughn (RB, Vanderbilt)
Many believe he suffered due to Vandy’s collapse in 2019. Going into the season he was very highly rated. I liked him. A flier on him here could turn into a steal.

#77 Denver — Micheal Ojemudia (CB, Iowa)
This is a lot earlier than expected. He has Seahawks size. The cornerbacks have really flown off the board in the early rounds.

#78 Atlanta — Matt Hennessy (C, Temple)
This could mean they save some money on Alex Mack. I thought Hennessy was really good at the Senior Bowl.

#79 New York Jets — Jabari Zuniga (DE, Florida)
There goes Zuniga. He had a 20% win percentage and he has a ton of upside. I’m not crazy about Ashtyn Davis but overall I like this Jets class.

#80 Las Vegas — Lynn Bowden Jr. (WR, Kentucky)
Bowden doesn’t look that fast (and he dodged the combine) but he just has a knack of making plays. They can use him in so many ways. He has a Raider attitude.

#81 Las Vegas — Bryan Edwards (WR, South Carolina)
I love this pick. Fantastic value. He’s incredibly talented and set records at South Carolina. He plays with fire. He’s an ideal compliment to Henry Ruggs and Lynn Bowden. A classic west-coast-offense type.

#82 Dallas — Neville Gallimore (DT, Oklahoma)
Gallimore was a weird prospect. He ran a great forty but his short shuttle and three cone was abysmal. He was superb at the Senior Bowl but underwhelming on tape.

#83 Denver — Lloyd Cushenberry III (C, LSU)
He’s a really smart, consistent player. He’s not a flashy athlete. The Broncos will get a solid interior lineman though. He’s not a violent blocker like Damien Lewis.

#84 LA Rams — Terrell Lewis (DE, Alabama)
The injuries have taken a toll. He just tried to get through last season. He didn’t even try to rush the edge and plant his leg. He looks the part but will he ever be healthy?

#85 Indianapolis — Julian Blackmon (S, Utah)
On the conference all with Utah coach Kyle Whittingham this week, he was effusive in his praise of Blackmon. He talked about him more than any other Utah draft prospect.

#86 Buffalo — Zack Moss (RB, Utah)
For all the pissing and moaning by some Seahawks fans and media, the NFL has made sure the running backs have flown off the board in the first three rounds. Moss is really tough and he runs hard but he’s not a difference making athlete. Seattle’s depth at running back is going to be a question mark next season.

#87 New England — Afernee Jennings (DE, Alabama)
I thought he looked spent at Alabama. However, he’s another classic Patriots fit in terms of playing style and frame.

#88 Cleveland — Jordan Elliott (DT, Missouri)
PFF loved Elliott and Josh Jones. I didn’t at all. Both lasted into round three. I’ve no idea what PFF saw.

#89 Minnesota — Cam Dantzler (CB, Mississippi State)
His tape is fine. He’s sparky. He played well. But he’s small and lacks length.

#90 Houston — Jonathan Greenard (DE, Florida)
He’s an alpha. Great character. Good agility testing. But he’s not fast enough to trouble the edge as a pass rusher and the wrist injury is a concern.

#91 New England (v/LV) — Devin Asiasi (TE, UCLA)
Awesome pick. The Pats are having a great draft and I love this aggressive move to trade up and get Asiasi. He’s so underrated. He’s a natural running the seam and he has soft hands. He’ll be great in New England.

#92 Baltimore — Devin Duvernay (WR, Texas)
He took a lot of screens at Texas. He’s very mature and a good character. He’s a 4.3 runner. Lot’s of potential here. It’s a nice fit for Baltimore.

#93 Tennessee — Darrynton Evans (RB, Appalachian State)
Another running back off the board. I guess they don’t matter. He looked good at the combine. Nice quick feet and he’s quick.

#94 Green Bay — Josiah Deguara (TE, Cincinnati)
He had some admirers but I’m really surprised he’s gone ahead of Hunter Bryant. For me Bryant and Asiasi were the top two TE’s in this class.

#95 Denver — McTelvin Agim (DT, Arkansas)
I thought he could be a day three option for Seattle. The defensive tackles have left the board — apart from Leki Fotu. Increasingly it looks like a veteran fix there.

#96 Kansas City — Lucas Niang (T, TCU)
He surely only lasted this long due to the injury issues. It’s worth a flier in this range for a team that is already loaded.

#97 Cleveland — Jacob Phillips (LB, LSU)
He was supposed to be the big star this year, not Patrick Queen. It worked the other way round. Yet he’s still found a home in a decent range.

#98 Baltimore — Malik Harrison (LB, Ohio State)
This is a very Ravens-style Baltimore draft. They have a clear type. It all seems so obvious after. He’s a thumping 3-4 inside linebacker.

#99 New York Giants — Matt Peart (T, Connecticut)
He’s raw and needs a lot of work. However, he has ridiculous size and length and he’s highly explosive. As a raw talent — his potential is immense.

#100 Las Vegas — Tanner Muse (S, Clemson)
Of course. Mike Mayock loves these Clemson guys. Muse is that honest, hard-working type but with major athletic traits that didn’t show on tape.

#101 New England (v/NYJ) — Dalton Keene (TE, Virginia Tech)
The Patriots move up again for another tight end. He ran a superb three cone and that really matters. He’ll be a nice compliment to Devin Asiasi.

#102 Pittsburgh — Alex Highsmith (DE, Charlotte)
He had a nice win percentage of 21.7% but I couldn’t get excited about him on tape.

#103 Philadelphia — Davion Taylor (LB, Colorado)
He’s lightning quick and will fly around. He’s an Eagles type linebacker.

#104 LA Rams — Terrell Burgess (S, Utah)
He’s played corner and safety and his best fit at the next level could be at nickel.

#105 New Orleans (v/MIN) — Adam Trautman (TE, Dayton)
The Saints move up again in a trade with the Vikings. Trautman has the great three cone. There was some talk he could go as early as round two.

#106 Baltimore — Tyre Phillips (G, Mississippi State)
I liked Phillips. He deserved more attention for the way he played at the Senior Bowl. He’s massive and will kick inside perfectly to guard. This is, again, a very Baltimore type pick.

I like the duos idea Vol brought up for the latest clues. All three movies feature a duo.

    Here are some possibilities:

    Zach Baun and Jonathan Taylor
    Jaylon Johnson and Bradly Anae
    Greenard and Zuniga
    Okwara and Claypool
    Zach Moss and Jaylon Johnson
    Raekwon Davis and Terrelle Lewis

    • Rob Staton

      I thought that too…

First video — help coming when it’s needed (pass rush need)

      Second video — Rush hour

Third video — duo’s (as in we’re drafting a pair)

Don’t think they have to be from the same team. Think it’s possibly just that they’re drafting a couple of rushers.

      • Rashi

Yeah that makes more sense actually! All for it.

      • Sea Mode

        Nice!

    • Rashi

Also, Hunter Bryant and Nick Harris.

Lol the clues are too much fun. Pete is the best.

    • Sea Mode

      All are set in California

      True Romance- Southern California setting
      Maltese Falcon- San Francisco
Step Brothers- Will Farrell went to USC.

      • Volume12

The prostitute in ‘True Romance’ is named Alabama and they’re on the move/run to California.

        • Volume12

Step Brothers has the catalina wine mixer scene. Catilina island, CA. Plus Will Ferrell and the USC connection.

And Maltese Falcon is set in S.F. as Sea Mode mentions.

          • Sea Mode

An earlier draft clue was “courtesy of” by Doug Baldwin, who went to Stanford (CA)

        • Saxon

True Romance is a very underrated movie. Check it out if you haven’t seen it.

      • Rob Staton

I don’t want to think about that because of Ashtyn Davis. I can’t contemplate the thought of them over-drafting him to sit behind Quandre Diggs.

        • Sea Mode

Ashtyn Davis and Cole Kmet picks incoming!

    • John

      Uche and Peoples-Jones too.

  2. Ukhawk

    Just DL in R2 please?!😩

    • Rob Staton

It’s the strength of the range they’ll be picking. I think you’ll be happy today.

      • Producehawk

The simulator made it so I couldn’t screw up. Lots of choices at each pick. Watch me get shattered. Lol

      • Ukhawk

        Rob

Great job this season!! You keep getting better and better

I’m fully bought in and hope the get any 2 of Uche, Zuniga, Davis or Hamilton.

  3. Big Mike

They just showed Jacob Eason at home with some family and there was a pretty smokin hot blonde. Anyone know if it was his mom?

    • Rob Staton

      LOL

    • Rashi

Jacob Eason was known for his prolific career with women when he was at Georgia. Probably one of his dime pieces.

      • Rob Staton

Make hay while the sun shines, Jacob.

        • Big Mike

          you guys are great

    • James Z

Well, he is a handsome guy…so, as ya know, the apple never falls far from the tree.

    • CaptainJack

His mom is a Brunette. Don’t ask me how I know this.

  4. Dwight

    Rob,

I wanted to thank you for all the dedication and work you do for us as Seahawks fans. I know you had a moment last night where you thought you’d let us down by not bringing up Brooks in the pre-draft process, but I never thought that for a moment – and I’m sure most everyone else felt the same way. For years your tireless analysis and excellent journalism has educated me and made the draft process funner, more understandable from a team-building standpoint, and more realistic from a “who will likely get drafted where” standpoint. The fact you finished third in the Huddle Report and got 28 out of 32 first rounders correct is just further validation of your skills and experience. I can’t even count how many times you were the first to bring up a likely high pick that no one in the media was considering , or even a first pick (Kyler Murray) that the rest of the analyst community were sleeping on.

As someone who’s entire professional life revolves around research, analysis, doing write-ups of the information, and then making critical decisions based on that information that impacts millions of dollars at a time, I appreciate and understand full-well what it is you do. What makes your information superior to many in the media is the concept of relative analysis. It’s so much easier to speak in absolutes and stereotypes. It’s much harder to make a dynamic assessment based not only on the absolute data (player stats, measurements, combine testing, etc.) but how that data stacks up relative to every other player at that position. It’s exactly how you spotted Kyler Murray when so many were focused on absolute measurables. You could see Murray’s added value to winning a game relative to all the other quarterbacks in the class. Relative analysis is the hardest to achieve because it requires the most work: identifying key variables and weighting those for value, keeping an open mind, and critical thinking beyond absolute numbers. I understand that most analysts will do a degree of relative analysis, but the best are those who constantly see the world through that prism. It’s also the best way to spot “what a player can do” instead of fixating on “what they can’t do.”

My hats off to you for so much time and sacrifice for us as fans. And I respect your experience, skills and analysis more than any other Seahawks media site (I’m not trying to put them down, I simply elevate you above the rest). There’s a saying I use when the bullets are flying and hard decisions need to be made: “I know what I know.” I may not always be right, but my process is good and I always seek to put probability on my side. I see that with you all the time. You know what you know. You’re willing to continue to learn and grow, which is great, but you also put out the best Seahawks-related analysis I have ever seen…and I’ve been following them since their very first game.

    Thank you.

    • Rob Staton

Thanks man. I loved reading that. Thank you.

    • Big Mike

      great post Dwight

    • Sea Mode

      👏👏

    • Asad Hashmi

      Great post

  5. Ashish

Any chance we trade up today?

    • Rob Staton

      Sure

      • Ashish

Can i still dream about Taylor? lets not hope 😀

  6. Ryanp

Rob – I think maybe that clip of Cody Barton haunted their dreams as much as it did yours. I appreciate this website so much! Great content. (First time poster/long time reader.)

    • Rob Staton

Good… I’m glad! It was a haunting image.

      • Saxon

It was one play. I respect that Barton was smart enough not to drive a QB into the ether and hurt his team with an inevitable 15 yard personal foul.

For the love of God can we please stop harping on this? You people are treating it like the butt fumble. Barton will be fine.

  7. millhouse-serbia

Uf…I didnt sleep for 42 hours, have asleep at 8pm and woke up few minutes ago (luckily)…I dont know.what ibwould do.if I missed this…lets goooo Seahawks…

  8. Troy

I’m not ready for PC/JS Wild Ride. I fully expect to be totally disappointed with whoever they pick.

    • Cameron

Let’s hope they defy THOSE expectations tonight.

  9. Jhams

Top wished for me today, in no particular order.

    DaVon Hamilton
    Chase Claypool
    Ezra Cleveland/Robert Hunt/Josh Jones/maybe Peart with a 3rd
Any of the big name running backs, although Akers with the 3rd would be ideal.
Any of the pass rushers we’ve talked about with traits as an upside pick Taylor/Okwara/Zuniga/Utah Gross My Toast maybe/someone I’m forgetting
    Davis or Madubuike

    • Cameron

      My optimal: Okwara + Hamilton

      • Kenny Sloth

        Mine too

        Would love Taylor best though

      • Hawktalker#1

        Sold

  10. Sea Mode

Wow, looks like the Colts didn’t waste a second turning in the card.

  11. Volume12

Exactly Michaelm Irvin just mentioned why I like Tee Higgins. His ability to stack DBs is one the best in this class.

  12. John L.

    Thank you Rob.
Today feels like it will be a bit harder to watch, many of the names I’ve been made aware of through SDB, will be coming off of the board soon.
CEH, and Willie Gay Jr. were my two wants, felt like they had the ability to be difference makers.
    Cautiously optimistic for today.

  13. Big Mike

Too early for Indy to go Jalen as the heir to Rivers?

    • Big Mike

guess so. Think Hurts goes fairly soon. Patriots?

  14. Volume12

I think Seattle will move back off of 64 if they can

    • TomLPDX

No! That is our new lucky draft number! Claypool will be #64!

      • Big Mike

        ooooh good call on #64

        • Hawktalker#1

Would rather have us focusing on pass rush

    • Coleslaw

Same. Try to get a mid-late 4th hopefully

      • Sea Mode

If anything, I think they will try to fill the gap in R5.

    • Rob Staton

      Probably.

Especially if they trade up at #59.

  15. Volume12

    Another Will Ferrell clue. lol.

  16. mishima

Daniel Jeremiah broadcasting from TJ Maxx?

  17. Producehawk

I could see them trading up from 59 with their forth then trading back at 64 to get the pick back.

  18. Volume12

    Swift & Kerryon? Interesting.

  19. Ashish

    Taylor is in danger now

    • Big Mike

      yeah likely gonna go soon

    • Rob Staton

      Miami

      • Big Mike

        makes sense

      • Ashish

still mad at yesterday’s pick. We could have got Taylor and brooks today

        • TomLPDX

Let it go, Ashish..It is what it is and we move on.

          • Ashish

            yup TomLPDX. You’re right

        • Troy D

Brooks wouldnt have made it to 59. Im guessing they knew that and it makes sense.

      • Kenny Sloth

They were going to take swift before Green Bay grabbed their pick

    • Producehawk

We would have to trade up. Hope we don’t. Bigger needs.

      • Big Mike

im hopeful for Akers. i know we now have no cance for Taylor

        • Ashish

Miami is just two spot earlier

  20. Coleslaw

Swift and Kerryon Johnson will be a great duo.

  21. Volume12

Pats stayin’ put or moving back?

    • Big Mike

im going out on a limb here that’ll likely break…….Hurts

    • Sea Mode

Don’t think anyone really wants to move up that bad. Sounds like everyone wants to move back.

  22. Volume12

Keep the RB’s and WR’s coming please. Let the board break this way please.

    • Kenny Sloth

      Go get JoTay

  23. Volume12

Wingo is obsessed with that damn dog.

    • Big Mike

      screw wingo..he’s a cowpukes fan

  24. hector l

love J Taylor a real player

  25. STTBM

Well, Detroit has been looking for a home in threat rb since Barry Sanders retired. Good get for them. Can’t wait to blow my stack, when Seattle picks someone I never heard of lol! Go Hawks!

PS Rob, excellent job this year. There was no way to know they’d focus on LB so hard….

    • Rob Staton

      Thanks

  26. Big Mike

Rob how surprised are you that X went before Winfield?

    • STTBM

      Man,I would have taken Winfield….

    • Rob Staton

Winfield is better but there was talk of some injury concerns.

  27. Volume12

I swear to god. If NE gets Winfield, jr? I will be mad online.

    • Volume12

      Run on safeties

  28. Troy

Starting to gain hope that we will get one of the great R2 options Rob identified. A lot of our R2 DL options still on the board. Plus Taylor and others. Hope rising slowly…

  29. Greg Haugsven

Its crazy how a certain.petson.on twitter knows these picks 3-4 minutes before they announce them.

    • Sea Mode

Breer. Just muted him. He’s like 2 picks ahead of broadcast.

    • Greg Haugsven

I already know who the Panthets are taking g

    • Kenny Sloth

      $$$$$

    • Coleslaw

Please dont talk about it here until its announced

      • Rob Staton

        Yep no tipping picks please.

Let Albert Breer ruin the fun on twitter but not here.

        • Greg Haugsven

I’m not, just crazy how ahead people are.

  30. Big Mike

    another S before Winfield ??

    • Kenny Sloth

Winfield was a real combine darling among media types never really bought the first round talk.

      • Volume12

I thought he was borderline 1st. 30-45 range.

  31. Sea Mode

Denzel Mims to CAR for Rhule?

    • Sea Mode

      Gross Mah-Toast!

  32. TomLPDX

Thank god that YGM is off the board

    • Sea Mode

      Amen.

    • WallaSean

      finally

  33. Kenny Sloth

Back to business!! Go Hawks!! Go PCJS

  34. Madmark

    Today
59 Raekwon Davis DT or Blacklock or Justin Madubuike
64 Chase Claypool WR Davon Hamilton DT, Devin Duvernay WR or RB
101 A.J. Dillion RB If you took RB at 64 then maybe Hamilton drops here or a T that has fallen
Currently I still working on Brooks pick and how that can help getting a proven DE guy. We may have to take a step back this back this year in order to take a leap next year.

    • Madmark

Going by a need to replace Jefferson who last year played ever position on the line. If you think you going to draft a Leo type DE your crazy. If we got Chase Young. Sure but that wasn’t going to happen. Quit whining and look at why we grab Brooks.

  35. Tony

Rob, I think the seahawks are the perfect team for you to follow. This FO challenges you so much, will always keep you guessing. Any other team you would nail. It would be boring by now.

    • Rob Staton

It’s never dull. And I love this team. Always will. I just want to win another title.

      • TomLPDX

        We will Rob.

        • Big Mike

          I so hope you’re right……..

      • Tony

100% with you on that. Appreciate the work you put in here.

  36. Ukhawk

    #59 feels so farrrrrr away

    • Sea Mode

Yup. Some of these next 20 off the board are really gonna hurt.

    • Producehawk

      Only 20 picks to go

    • Coleslaw

Yeah buy 45 is a realistic trade up range and that’s not so far!

    • Ukhawk

What’s the gayest teacher to follow the picks? NFL network driving me nuts

      • mishima

        Um…

        • Volume12

          Lmaoooo 😂😂

      • Ukhawk

Sorry. I typed “fastest tracker” to follow the picks Genuine mistake. Apologies

  37. regan

Nice pick for Carolina. Rob made me really like that guy. Ill be rooting for him.

  38. Volume12

I hope this isn’t the start of a run on D-lineman.

    • Coleslaw

I think were prepared to trade up if there is

      • Coleslaw

Had too much success with it not to go back to the well. Especially after the trade values yesterday

  39. Troy

It is still early but anyone else happy with how the 2nd round started? No edge (that we targeted) has been taken, no OL taken, Taylor still on board. I still think we trade up if one of “OUR GUYS” falls to like 48-50 but so far I’m digging it.

    • Coleslaw

Absolutely. Wont last long though lmao

    • Hawktalker#1

Wondering about that myself. However, they already missed treating down and getting some extra pics don’t know if they wanna waste any pics by trading up. Time will tell I suppose

  40. HOUSE

    Robert Hunt is MASSIVE!

    • HOUSE

      DAMMIT!!!

  41. Volume12

    Great pick for Miami.

  42. Big Mike

    earlier than expected on Hunt

    • Rob Staton

      Not earlier than I expected.

Mocked him in this range to Seattle in my last seven rounder.

  43. CHawk Talker Eric

    NOOOOOOOOOO!

Now I don’t want them to draft an OL

  44. Troy

Rob’s guy Robert Hunt is OFF THE BOARD! Damn.

    • Big Mike

      ‘fraid so 🙁

  45. hector l

J Taylor will upgrade our offence and Baun our defense we need more drafts LOL….

  46. Tony

I’m rooting for guys I like to go to afc. So great pick miami!

  47. Sea Mode

Mmmm… NFLN practically tipping half the picks with the house cams. 😡

  48. Henry Taylor

I had a feeling he’d go earlier than expected. A great find by Rob.

  49. hector l

    Take the stud taylor 888

  50. Michael Hasslinger

Robert Hunt showed highlights of Seattles newest running back:)

  51. hector l

Take the stud taylor 888..he will rock.. But dont forget Epeneza

  52. LantermanC

There goes this year’s Joel Bitonio. 🙁

  53. Paul Cook

    Back to back ouches.

  54. Coleslaw

I cant believe Ezra Cleveland is still available

  55. Producehawk

Great job this year Rob! And your pointing out Hunt early is a great example of your talent.

  56. Greg Haugsven

Looks like Colts traded up from 44 to 41?

    • Greg Haugsven

      Great pick for the Colts

  57. Rob Staton

Some surprising players still available. Speaks to the quality of round two this year.

    • Volume12

      It’s such a deep round.

  58. Coleslaw

Ross Blacklock looks like a teddy Graham lmfao

  59. Rashi

    Lol Pete with another clue:

    https://twitter.com/PeteCarroll/status/1253832567934967808

    • Greg Haugsven

He was doing the feed me thing like a RB would do.

  60. Cad

    There goes Jonathan Taylor. Sigh.

  61. Tony

    damn.

  62. WallaSean

Get ready! These next fifteen picks are going to be painful

  63. Big Mike

    shit 🙁

  64. Mac

    Boooooo 🙁

  65. Paul Cook

These picks are getting painful to watch.

  66. CHawk Talker Eric

This round is totally gonna suck

I feel bad for Taylor. He wanted SEA, he got IND.

  67. Hawks4life

I love Taylor but I’m glad he’s gone so the talk can stop, we have much bigger needs.

    • Rob Staton

You might regret saying that when the offense is playing like it did at the end of last season again because they have no running threat (which will be the case if Carson gets injured yet again).

      • Hawks4life

You might be right but I hope not lol. Lots of good backs left in the draft we can choose from. I hope we still have a shot at a solid DE could be a run coming up

    • Coleslaw

He was one of a few players that made me not care about need lol. But I can agree, glad we are more likely to target needs now.

      • Producehawk

Maybe a decent back will be left at 101.

  68. Volume12

Indy stays killing it. 3 classes on a row that are excellent.

Taylor & Mack will be such a dope combo.

    • Troy

Yup they are one franchise QB away from being a legit contender. Jealous of their drafts.

      • Michael Hasslinger

They will be drafting 2021 where Chargers drafted 2020, I suspect. Rivers is done.

Finding Wilson was the ey for Seattle. Indy needs a real QB.

  69. hector l

    COLTS STOLE HIM

    • Hawktalker#1

And a great steal it was

  70. Ashish

    Dream crushed…..now pressure is off

  71. Troy

Fuuuuuccccccckkkkkkkkkkk Taylor to colts…i am dissapoint. Pour one out to our man Bobbyk who felt that in his bones.

    • Jace

Hahaha he is a guaranteed HOF’er and don’t ever forget that.

  72. hector l

GUARANTEE HE WILL OUT-RUSH ALL OTHER RUNNERS PICKED THIS YEAR

    • Rob Staton

      100%

      • Justin Mullikin

I shall hold you to this. haha jk

    • Big Mike

maybe but he’ll split time with marlon mack so………….

      • hector l

not after he shows his stuff he will be go to guy…

  73. Patrick Housman

Colts are loading up weapons for Rivers and future QB…

  74. STTBM

Tarnation! Now all I have left of rb wishlist is Dobbs or Akers….still got DT and DE studs left….

    • Coleslaw

Dobbins wont last past TB imo

    • STTBM

I hate my phone! Dobbins! Keeps changing it to Dobbs or Robbins lol!

  75. Tony

    atleast Taylor went to afc!

  76. LantermanC

Dugger, Hunt, Taylor gone in 5 picks. The sting hurts. It hurts bad.
For whatever reason, I’ve really taken a shining to Grant Delpit. Hope he’s not gone in the next 10 picks (or maybe I do, it’s better if he’s gone at 40 than there at 54 and the Seahawks take someone else).

  77. Rashi

Dobbins and Akers still there tho

  78. Paul Cook

Is it just me, or are the picks just flying in this year?

  79. Sea Mode

    Go get JK Dobbins

    • Paul Cook

I like him. Might be my favorite back.

    • mishima

      (Akers)

    • CHawk Talker Eric

I’m not a Dobbins fan. If not Taylor, then I prefer Akers a bit later.

      • Paul Cook

That guy can run the ball.

        • CHawk Talker Eric

Reminds me of Paul Perkins. That’s not intended to be a compliment. I was all over Perkins coming out of USC but he’s bombed in the pros, and I fear Dobbins will too.

          • CHawk Talker Eric

            Not SC, UCLA. My bad

  80. Madmark

Sorry to say but if we trade back for more picks. I would be disappointed

    • Hawktalker#1

Won’t get a lot of benefit out of trading back at this point, so I doubt much of that’s gonna happen.

I know a lot of these pics hurt because we wanted them all, but we need to stay focused on what our primary needs are. No sense in leaving the draft ignoring our primary needs like we have done so far in the off-season.

  81. tony

I’ve heard akers and Dobbins talk. Even some tauting dillon. What about mcfarland? Is he too small?

    • Sea Mode

Not really our style RB, reported personality issues. (later denied by Pauline and his coaches at Maryland, but it’s out there)

      • Tony

if character concerns, I’m sure hawks look away. Like his talent tho.

  82. Rashi

Lol if the Buccaners pick up dobbins here, their offense will be unstopable.

    • Coleslaw

      Chicago or TB I think

  83. hector l

OK LETS GET BAUN ANDEPENEZA TO B10 STUDS

    • hector l

Epeneza and Baun…Bug 10 studs,,..best outside of OSU

      • Rob Staton

        Epenesa was always overrated.

Said it a year ago. Seeing it now.

        • hector l

          u prefer Baun? Ok

    • dcd2

Neither one of these guys excites me. If they are there at 59 & 64, I’m more interested.

  84. Big Mike

looks like theyve slowed it down for commercials and talking heads to chatter

  85. Volume12

That last clue. Courtesy of Steve Kerr. Bay area?

    Tuna. Maybe Anae?

    • Volume12

Asiasi? All the California clues. Tuna equates to Samoa or Hawaii

      • Rob Staton

I’d be well up Asiasi if they didn’t already have 9 tight ends.

    • Rob Staton

We’d have a serious deficiency in twitch at DE.

      • Volume12

Fotu would fit if the clue has anything at all to do with Samoa.

        • Rob Staton

If it’s Utah and therefore Anae and Fotu…

I like Utah. But I don’t want to be Utah.

    • Sea Mode

      idk. I’m totally stumped.

      • CHawk Talker Eric

Did either of the first two clues mean anything? I don’t see Jordyn Brooks in either of the first two clues.

  86. Jace

The position players are flying off the board here!

  87. Hawktalker#1

Great pick. I hope they enjoy him.

  88. Volume12

What is with all the tragic backstories this year?

    • Rashi

I know jeez, its crazy. One guy slipped on gravel and just died… So sad.

  89. hector l

other interesting 7th rounder quintez cephus hell of a receiver great hands…

    • Jace

      So slow though.

      • dcd2

He ran a lot faster at his pro day and looked fast enough on film. I’d LOVE Cephus in the 7th, but he’ll probably be gone by then.

  90. Greg Haugsven

Chaisson and Shenault for Jags. Two boom or bust guys.

  91. Zeke

Has the draft always been this depressing? Seems like everyone has a parent or sibling who tragically died.

    • Hawktalker#1

Yeah, I don’t remember there being this much of this and other drafts. Lots of tragic stories.

      • Bayahawk

Sad to say but wait until next year.

    • Tony

no cuz its not the event like before, they now have to do all human interest stuff on everyone. Cuz they can’t hop around all the players live and talk about the same 10 guys in first round.

  92. Cad

And Kmet is off the board.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Please no tipping.

      • Sea Mode

        It was already on broadcast.

        • mishima

I think streaming is slightly delayed.

          • Coleslaw

Pretty sure it depends on internet connection

  93. TomLPDX

    First TE off the board.

  94. Rob Staton

Lot of players coming off the board I/we had no interest in.

Which is good news I suppose.

    • Sea Mode

      +1

    • tony

absolutley good 2nd rd so far. Missing Taylor and hunt sucks, but our biggest need still looks good

      • Derek

I want all my favorite players gone so my heart isn’t crushed when the ‘Hawks skip them 🙁

    • dcd2

      Yep.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

Except for Taylor and Hunt. But yeah there are still some fine prospects available.

  95. Paul Cook

15 more painful picks before us unless we move up (looking doubtful now).

    • Volume12

      Not unless a run starts.

      • Paul Cook

Who do you want of anyone now?

  96. Troy D

Feeling good right now. I like how this playing out thus far.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Agreed. So far . . .

  97. GoHawksDani

This is pretty good so far, only 2-3 people went from our board

  98. Milwaukee Hawk

Trying to show off some of your predraft bios on players from this fall to my fantasy football buddies – what gives having to choose the month articles were published to search? I don’t know what month you talked in depth about Kyle Dugger.

    • Coleslaw

Because he does this for free and has a family to take care of. Be grateful we have this site.

      • Milwaukee Hawk

Fair enough- I donate monthly to keep things going- just a change I hadn’t realized til now- seems like there used to be a total search function as of just a few weeks ago

  99. Sea Mode

    Tuna + Mayonaise, another “pairing”.

Is there a pair of players from California that could interest us?

Raekwon and Terrell Lewis as a pair?

    • Volume12

      Florida maybe?

      • Sea Mode

        oooh…🤔

    • Coleslaw

      I’d take that all day!

    • dcd2

JK Dobbins and DaVon Hamilton – OSU… wishing it into existence

      • Sea Mode

        heck yeah please!

    • mishima

      Joshua Kelly and Devin Asiasi?

      • Rob4q

        Anaee + Fotu

  100. charlietheunicorn

    Rob, good call on Hunt

Went much earlier than most expected.

  101. Erik

Know you’re not super high on Epenesa, Rob, but at what point would you be excited for him? 64?

    • TomLPDX

Claypool at 64. No other choice!

  102. John_s

Mid round RB to keep an eye on is James Robinson from Illinois St

    • Volume12

      Agreed.

      • Sea Mode

Could see PC seeing some Carson in him.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Or Antonio Gibson

  103. drrew76

ESPN needs to fuck off with showing the player-cam before the pick is announced – it’s happened half a dozen times this round already.

    • Sea Mode

      Yup.

“bY THe wAy, ANtoiNe wINfieLd iS StiLL oN tHe bOaRd…”

      literally next pick…

      • Erik

Ha, same deal with Robert Hunt. Real clever, guys

  104. 805Hawk

Had to mute Bob Condotta. He’s tipping picks a couple ahead. Frustrating.

  105. dcd2

    Nice pick for Tampa.

  106. Volume12

Damn man. Winfield to a Bruce Arians coached team? 🤮

    • charlietheunicorn

Tampa is going all in for a 2 year window to win a SB…… at least they are going for it.

  107. Huso Liszt

Figured out PC HINT: Trevon Diggs ticks all three boxes : Alabama/ Sam Spade as in shovel “digs” , and Stepbrothers refers to his brother Stephan.

    • Coleslaw

I do think they will love Diggs.

    • Sea Mode

      Interesting.

      Raekwon Davis and Diggs?

    • Rob Staton

I’m down for it. Diggs is really good.

      Doubt it though.

    • Cameron

Add Schneider’s comments at the end of the season expressing his distaste with the secondary play, maybe?

  108. charlietheunicorn

Dolphins already won the draft… solid draft so far, everything else is frosting

    Tampa Bay winning the offseason

    • Troy D

As long as Tua is a hit.

  109. hector l

LOOKING back we should have moved down taket JT and perhaps a shot a delpy…i dont know what is best choice now
    any suggestions?

  110. charlietheunicorn

Denver loading up on WR, not bads

    • TomLPDX

Lock needs all the weapons he can get.

  111. Matt

    Hamler gone…shit shit shit

    • CaptainJack

We’re not taking a Smurf receiver this early. We need dline and there are so many dline options left.

  112. charlietheunicorn

Do we have an update for best living room in the NFL draft contest?

    • Producehawk

Winfield’s looked nice, girl in green dress real nice!

      • CaptainJack

But did she try to grab his phone?

  113. Zeke

    Sutton, Jeudy, Hamler

    • Michael P Matherne

      And Fant

  114. MaxC14

    TRADE!

    • Volume12

      There we go.

    • Rob Staton

      We’re up to #48!

    • Greg Haugsven

      Seattle to 49. For who?

      • Greg Haugsven

        48 I mean.

        • Greg Haugsven

Trade chart shows pick 101 to move up which sucks.

    • Sea Mode

      We moved up to 48!!!

    • MaxC14

RB to get in front of Pitt?

    • Producehawk

      Yikes afraid to look!

  115. Volume12

Love what Denver has done this off-season.

  116. 805Hawk

    Holy crap! Trade!!!

  117. CaptainJack

To the people trying to guess the clues

How on earth did any of them relate with Jordyn Brooks yesterday?

    • Sea Mode

The 1917 clip: A guy running side to side behind the trenches, weaving through traffic.

The Toy Story clip: impressive wingspan.

      • Ben S

I saw someone mention “Dumb as a stump” as a clue, is that accurate? Because I believe that Brooks scored 10 on the wonderlic

    • CHawk Talker Eric

      Exactly

      I asked that earlier

    • Ashish

I lost interest because no one knows how it’s related. No explanation so anyone’s guess

  118. Coleslaw

Oh SNAP! Davis or Dobbins? Diggs?

  119. Big Mike

    what we give up?

  120. Volume12

Seattle coming up for a D-lineman?

    • Volume12

      Mims? OL? DB?

    • Michael McKevitt

Brace yourself for Roderigo Blankenship, K Georgia…

  121. CHawk Talker Eric

    What it gonna be?

  122. Misfit74

    Seahawks traded up to 48!

  123. CaptainJack

Sweet! There is a move. Please be a defensive linemen

  124. Scot04

Actually I’m very surprised they traded up

  125. Matthew Baldwin

#54…Terrell Lewis DE Alabama or Darrell Taylor DE Tennessee.

Their injury history scares me, but if they didn’t have concerns/flags, they wouldn’t be available deep in R2.

Love the Brooks pick. Pass rush wasn’t our only need. We looked slow and were gashed on runs.

  126. Coleslaw

    Pick is in!

  127. Paul Cook

Iwas wrong. They did move up. Make me happy.

  128. Mark Souza

We’re on the clock. How are they going to surprise us this time. I am cursing now as a warm-up.

  129. Hawktalker#1

    Amazing. Here we go

  130. David Ashton

    Pick is in!!!

  131. Misfit74

Terms: Pick No. 48 for No. 59 and 101

    • Michael McKevitt

Did they give up a steeper price than those moving up in the first???

    • DCD2

      ugh, seems like a lot

      • Brian Sanders

Couldn’t agree MORE!! Like the pick and fit, but he would have been there at 59!

  132. Volume12

    Wooooo!!

    • Volume12

      F*ck yes!

  133. Rokas

    My guess is Okwara

    • Rokas

      Very happy with the pick!

  134. HOUSE

    Nice pick coming…

  135. Greg Haugsven

I like the pick but why not wait until 59?

    • CaptainJack

      It’s pretty simple actually.

They had intel you don’t. They thought someone was going to draft him.

  136. Volume12

    Yes sir!!!!

  137. CHawk Talker Eric

Not thrilled with this. He has the potential, and might be worth it at 59, but I wouldn’t have moved up for him.

  138. Scot04

Like the player. But thought he might drop to 59

  139. Paul Cook

Going for the potential. I don;t know if I can argue.

  140. Troy

We drafted a DE! Praise jesus!

  141. CaptainJack

    Hell yeah!!!!

Upside pass rusher. Nobody is a sure thing at this point. I love this pick. He’s something to work with at a position of need.

  142. charlietheunicorn

    Compares to Junior Galette… interesting

  143. Matt

    Don’t love it…oh well.

    • Matt

Especially not at the expense of losing our 3rd rounder.

    • CaptainJack

Any dline in this draft besides young is a roll of the dice.

If Darrell Taylor is the roll pcjs like, I’m all for it.

And I didn’t really want Marlon, didn’t fit our defense.

  144. hector l

    ok not bad Y
Its a start now we need a
    Tackle RB receiver

  145. Sea Mode

    There it is!

    We nailed the clues, too.

    • Sea Mode

      Finally, filling a need!

    • CHawk Talker Eric

We did? Or is this written in the sarcastic font?

  146. Michael Hasslinger

    YESSSSSS!!!

  147. regan

    He’s got Juice!

  148. Volume12

I am fired the f**k up!

    • Sea Mode

      Let’s goooo!!!

    • Producehawk

Wonder if they trade back 64 now? Paid up on the move up.

    • CHawk Talker Eric

I wish I was. I don’t mind the player, but not moving up for him.

  149. Dawgma

I was prepared to hate it when they traded up, but I like it. It makes SENSE, and is one of the few potential pass rush boosts they were going to get. Wonder what they paid to move up, one of the fourths?

    • Bliptai

      It cost pick 101

      • Dawgma

Woof, that hurts. Trade back incoming from the other 2nd Rd pick.

  150. STTBM

Well, Taylor seems like a fine pick. Madubuike, Robbins, Davis still there but likely to go soon…at least we FINALLY got an Edge with speed and a high ceiling!

  151. Hawktalker#1

can’t lose their DE guy at this point. If that was their guy, I’m thrilled

  152. HawksGal

    YES!!!!!!!!! Love the pick….

  153. Coleslaw

    Just what the doctor ordered

  154. Brian Sanders

I like the player and position fit, but we could have very likely gotten him at 59 and what did we give up?

    • Cad

We swapped a second-round pick and gave up our 3rd.

    • Ishmael

No way of knowing that. I mean sure, maybe they got fleeced by the Jets of all people, but it’s entirely possible that someone else was going to take him.

  155. Mark Souza

Sure, DE, but the wrong DE. The guy with no burst and an extensive injury history. We are the reach masters.

    • Eburgz

Your wrong mark. Go watch some more tape.

    • Ehurd1021

      No burst?

Go take some time and go watch some more tape.

    • CaptainJack

Disagree. Taylor has juice. Needs to develop more pass rusher moves. We can coach him up.

  156. Michael Hasslinger

Three down player. Violent hands. Sets the edge. So much potential.

    • HOUSE

His hands are always moving as well. He doesn’t get stuck and he looks like he changes height/angles well. If this kid refines his swim or learns a spin move… man oh man

  157. Troy D

One of the ESPN guys said we were looking to trade back out of the 1st for him. Not sure where that is coming from. So looks like we didnt want to wait any longer. I like it and the way this is playing out there could be a few guys that have been highlighted here at 64 as well. Give me beef…..6’7″ beef at 64

  158. Ishmael

I have a hard time believing it was tackling that caused Delpitt to drop. The vast majority of defensive backs, hell even all defensive players, in the NFL are disgustingly bad at it. It’s a technical skill that teams seemingly never bother training and it comes back to bite them over and over again. Even with the lockdown there’s no reason why you couldn’t get Delpitt working on all kinds of drills with a brother or friend while a coach watches the tape or livestream.

  159. Qoolio

Ok, so how do the dominoes fall now. Taylor fills the DE, but we lose #103.

Not a huge fan of the RBs and WRs available in the fourth round and beyond…

    #64- WR (Claypool)
    #133- OL (Adeniji)
    #144- DT (Agim)
    #213- NCB (Reid)

    ???

  160. Ukhawk

DL! I like PCJSs record on tradeups

  161. drrew76

Is Frank Clark coming out of Michigan a reasonable comparison for Taylor?

    • Volume12

A little bit, yeah. I like that comp now that you mention it.

    • Sea Mode

      Lance Zierlein
      @LanceZierlein
      ·3m

Has a chance to be Frank Clark 2.0

  162. CaptainJack

Honestly this is a great pick. I get Frank Clark vibes minus the domestic violence allegations. Just awesome

  163. Zeke

    damn pick 101 gone

    • Volume12

They’ll move off 64 like we talked about earlier

      • CaptainJack

        Up or down?

        • Volume12

Down. Or they’ll move up into the 3rd w/ one of their 4ths.

  164. Hawktalker#1

Ouch. That cost us 101 as well

  165. Shane W

Trade pick value actually has us coming out 14 points ahead but still feels like we gave up too much.

    2.59 + 3.101 = 406 points
    2.48 = 420 points

    • Coleslaw

11 spots is a pretty big jump. If we had 110 we probably couldve done that.

Kinda wish they did 133 and a 2021 6th or something

    • Brett

Think of it this way … name a player the Hawks have moved up to get the last few years who didn’t turn out to be good/great.

    • Jordan

Exactly. Too many people on here want us to trade back for the hell of it.. It’s clearly a buyer’s market right now. Let’s not get too cute with some of these picks.

  166. Scot04

No more 3rd round pick. 101 gone in trade

    • Sea Mode

Who cares? He was our “can’t leave the draft without him” guy, I think.

      • Michael Hasslinger

        Agree. I’m effing giddy

      • BLiptai

Seeing JS reaction to making the pick on the broadcast, I’ve got to agree with you. He looked genuinely stoked, like they got their guy all along.

      • McZ

This trade up is totally unnecessary. The next DL team is Buffalo, possibly

For a talented, yet underdeveloped and limited pass rusher with injury concerns, other teams wouldn’t touch before end of 3rd.

Now, watch the Rams pick their LT.

        • Rob Staton

          Why is it unnecessary?

          Go and get your guys.

  167. Erik

A little bummed we gave up our 3rd, but can’t complain about the pick itself

  168. Schism

If we had taken Taylor last night and Brooks today, I think we all would have felt much better lol. Still wish we could have kept that 3rd rounder though

  169. Ishmael

We were talking about potentially taking him in the first just yesterday weren’t we? Can’t be too unhappy about that.

Now if we can somehow get Raekwon at 64…

    • Hawktalker#1

      Hamilton

      • Dawgma

Yeah, sign me up. I think they’re trading back, though. Not enough picks left.

      • charlietheunicorn

Yes, keep Hamilton in mind….. or maybe they trade a future 2nd for a current early 3rd round pick…

      • Ishmael

Wouldn’t be unhappy about that. Or even if they went after Zuniga. As long as they keep attacking the front seven I’ll be pretty content. At least it shows they know what they need. Still got plenty of time to go get Wilson a couple of shiny toys.

    • HOUSE

I have been chomping at the bit for Raekwon Davis… I have always thought a Calais Campbell type would be what we need. That is what Malik McDowell was suppose to be.

  170. charlietheunicorn

    Damn You Pittsburg

    DAYUM YOUUUUUU

    • CaptainJack

Something tells me DT is the next pick

      • Coleslaw

I’m guessing DT or WR. Dobbins still available

      • STTBM

Yuuuup…I smell what u steppin in!

  171. Paul Cook

The Hawks were obviously horny for him and wanted to take no chances that he wasn’t there further down the board. That makes me feel good.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Exactly

    • Volume12

I’m horny for him too. Already on hard over here. Full mast

      • Paul Cook

I’m feeling better tonight already. Two aggressive defenders to our squad. How about a DT next? But might trade down now like you suggested before.

        • Volume12

          I would love a DT.

  172. Volume12

The Steelers always get stud receivers. God damn factory.

  173. Greg Haugsven

I wo der if they look to go back from 64 to the third?

    • Hawktalker#1

      What would be the advantage?

  174. Brian Sanders

We gave up 59 and 101 so we’re currently down to 4 picks….love the pick, but overpaid in draft capital…..64 is HUGE now and unless we have Raekwon Davis or Madibuike there, I sure hope we trade back for 80’s, + two more picks.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Or Hamilton

    • Qoolio

Trade with Denver for 83, 118, and 178?

      • Greg Haugsven

That could work. Could go 89 and 105 with Minnesota.

  175. EV

What other wide receivers are we rooting for with claypool out? Pretty excited about Taylor!

    • Volume12

Mims, Bryan Edwards are two that come to mind right away.

    • Steve Nelsen

      Mims would be fantastic.

      • Greg Haugsven

Either one. I like Edward’s personally

    • Sea Mode

      Bryan Edwards

  176. RWIII

Absolutely love the Taylor pick. Now the Hawks need to get a defensive tackle.

  177. Greg Haugsven

Would love to see Avril tutor Taylor a little since he is around. They are similar players.

    • Sea Mode

      +1

      • Rob4q

Man, in the clips of Taylor that Rob posted above he looks a LOT like Avril!

  178. Sea Mode

PC/JS are gonna be 🔥’d up about him at the presser!

  179. David Ashton

Love the pick! Aggressive to come get one of your guys, just one pick after Davidson comes off. Bendy. Huge upside. Let’s go.

  180. Greg Haugsven

Another guy they could take at 64 is Amik Robertson. Would be a serious Seahawk pick.

    • charlietheunicorn

      Diggs?

    • Hawktalker#1

Absolutely love that guy. But really think DT is a better choice

    • GoHawksDani

      Yes please!
Brooks similar to Bobby, Taylor to Clark, and while totally different playstyle and position Amik has a bit Earl Thomas in him with his fire, attitude

    • Henry Taylor

      I so hope so

  181. drewdawg11

Classic John to overpay in a trade. Throwing in a third when
Other teams are moving up with 5th rounders. It wasn’t like they jumped 20 picks. I’m so down right now. They are putting their eggs in a high-risk basket. I’m not pleased but what can I do?

    • Big Mike

read above: trade value chart says we actually had a 14 point advantage

      • McZ

You have no advantage if you pick player who was bound to last into 3rd.
There is no DL team until #59, apart from Buffalo. And their type of guy is Epenesa.

        • McZ

And ding, ding, here is Buffalo picking Epenesa.

    • John_s

They jumped 11 spots. That a huge jump. Not a 3-4 spot move

      • Greg Haugsven

        I saw 125-121 for points.

  182. charlietheunicorn

Get Clowney in and get Griffin in at DE….. let’s get it done!

  183. Big Mike

if they screwed the stealers by jumping ahead of them, it makes me even happier
    we’ll trade down from 64 to get a earlier 3rd and like a 7th

    • Jordan

Why so eager to trade back in a buyers market?

  184. Jace

Didn’t know Dak’s brothers name was Jace.. such tragic news.

  185. GoHawksDani

Damn PIT… Claypool has the chance to be a WR similar as Kittle does at TE. Soft hands and crazy pancake blocks. Now if the Hawks pick WR please pick Duvernay or Joe Reed later. I don’t want anyone else

  186. Gohawks5151

Daaaannggg. I wanted Claypool. He’s going to a great WR team though

  187. Greg Haugsven

Could be Cleveland or Josh Jones as well.

  188. Eburgz

I like Taylor but I hate giving up a 3rd rounder to move up 11 spots in R2.

Please stop commenting “we could have got this guy later” because who knows.

    • Rob Staton

It was pick #101. A fourth rounder in all but name.

  189. Greg Haugsven

    Great pick for the Cowboys

  190. Jim Kelly

I got here just after you posted after the Taylor pick.

The “…” really scared me. Seeing you hesitate… and then be happy with the pick, made me hold my breath. I’ve come to rely on you too much. After list night’s shock, I’ve been experiencing a bit of trepidation. I’m willing to let the experts do their jobs, but waiting 20 hours while second guessing from my armchair (Actually my bed, but an armchair lets me climb onto my high-horse of amateur opinions.) made me more nervous than I realized.

I’m more than mature enough to let the pros do their jobs, and wait for the results. It’s just last night I was hoping that the Seahawks would draft Taylor, but Jonathon Taylor last night. I was bummed.

    Thanks for everything, Rob.

  191. Volume12

Does Seattle go offense next or keep giving Pete his guys?

    • charlietheunicorn

      Dayummmmmm

    • GerryG

      I’m torn.

      I think I grab a DT

    • John_s

I’m thinking another defender but I think they will trade down if they can first

    • Ishmael

Have to go back to the line again I think, it was a complete disgrace last year. Once more and then go find Wilson something shiny to distract him with.

  192. GerryG

Where is our native third rd pick? Who did we get for that?

    • Zeke

      Clowney

      • GerryG

Facepalm! Totally drawing a blank thx

    • John_s

      Traded for Clowney

  193. charlietheunicorn

I hate the Rams even more now

  194. Rashi

DArrell TAylor ran a 4.6 40 in high school. I think we can assume he has improved that number in 4 years of strength training at TEnnesse.

So we are lookin guy a 6-4, 270 guy that runs a 4.55 or something like that… Yes please, sign me up!

    • Lil’stink

It’s not even about his speed. I can’t believe how a guy his size can bend the edge so well.

  195. Coleslaw

    Akers over Dobbins

  196. Scot04

    Great pick for Rams

  197. hector l

    Need to Help Russell
    PLEASE

    • Hawktalker#1

The defense needs more help than the offense

    • Michael Hasslinger

More possessions set. Starting WR through round 5.

  198. Paul Cook

One of Rob’s diamonds gone, and a *bit* earlier than expected.

  199. Sea Mode

Ah, shoot. Trade up for Dobbins using a 4th. Now!

    • Sea Mode

Or wait and take Raekwon or Hamilton.

      • Hawktalker#1

        Exactly, I prefer Hamilton

      • Michael Hasslinger

This. Complete the circle of toughness.

  200. Misfit74

Someone called this based on the “Draft Clues” I think. Who was it?

    • Volume12

      Sea Mode.

I think it was the ‘Derelict’ sign in the Zoolander clip.

  201. Gohawks5151

We should have traded back, what are they doing? What they heck, who is that guy? Why won’t they be agressive and trade up? They gave up too much for that trade!

    – Summary of Seattle draft so far. 2020

    • Greg Haugsven

Its OK, they want there guys and they do what they have to do to get them. They obviously wanted Taylor bad and didnt want to risk it. I agree they probably could have waited to 59 but they wanted to be sure.

  202. Big Mike

    whoa, Hurts to Philly

  203. Sea Mode

    Whaaat. Hurts to Eagles???

    • Paul Cook

      It’s like mini-Jordan-Love

  204. Troy

HOLY COW HURTS TO PHILI!!!! DRAMA ALERT

  205. Hawktalker#1

Please don’t tip picks. Thank you.

    • Big Mike

announced on ESPN so doesnt seem like a tip to me

    • Sea Mode

How much of a delay are you watching?

None of us are posting before it shows up on stream.

      • Hawktalker#1

I am also on an ESPN stream. But getting my information apparently later than some others.

        • Hawktalker#1

Just avoiding posting the name of the pic just for the sake of it the very second it gets released could be delayed a little bit just out of courtesy.

  206. charlietheunicorn

DT makes sense, too much sense

CB could be a call for Hall here at 64

  207. Paul Cook

On a side note, Jacob Eason is beginning to fall now.

  208. Sneekes

I don’t mind the pick, but there would have been decent pass rush options at 59. I don’t like the trade-up at all. Think we’re going to have to pass on a receiver now as need DT, HB, OT much more.

  209. Volume12

    Buffalo should grab JK Dobbins.

    • Big Mike

      really good call man

      • Greg Haugsven

Would be great for the mafia.

  210. Rob Staton

I’m starting to think the clues were heavily weighted towards a duo.

    Book end pass rushers?

    Or a defensive tackle?

Go and get big Raekwon or Zuniga.

    • Big Mike

      im thinking DT

    • Sea Mode

      😍

    • charlietheunicorn

DT with pass rush ability…. Hamilton?

    • Volume12

      I think so too.

      • Justin Mullikin

I would love either, but man I would dig a Big boy DT. There is still some very good ones available.

    • STTBM

      Yes! Or Madubuike or Okwara….

      • Scot04

100% agree on Raquan or Zuniga

    • Davido

      That plan sounds awesome!
      Get younger, get physical upside!

  211. Zeke

Is Okwara still a possibility after taking Taylor?

    • Coleslaw

Yup. Taylor can play SAM too.

      • Cameron

Perhaps he CAN, but I highly doubt he will with the need to get Brooks on the field, not to mention the stated intention to return Irvin to that role.

      • Greg Haugsven

Bruce can tutor Taylor as well. Damn 64 will be interesting if we stay.

  212. Rob4q

Lot’s of complaining we gave up too much to trade up 11 spots. They got great value and got a needed EDGE with tremendous upside! Look at the trade value chart:

    NYJ 48
    SEA 59 + 101

    Trade Totals
    NYJ Gives Value: 420
    SEA Gives Value: 406

    SEA is +14 points

    Gain/Loss %
    NYJ: -3.33%
    SEA: +3.45%

    • Jordan

Clearly a buyers market, the value this year is to trade up!

    • Big Mike

thank you for this Rob, spot on

    • Ishmael

The other thing is, when have the Jets ever outsmarted anyone? Sometimes you just have to pay a price.

    • Sneekes

It’s fair value. Just not sure it was necessary.

    • Hawktalker#1

However, this can be looked at from a different perspective than just pure points and percentages

    • Sea Mode

It’s getting into the top 50. Gonna cost you.

But who cares: we got our guy. We got some pass rush with huge upside.

      • Hawktalker#1

        100%

This with Clowney and Griffin and I would be thrilled beyond belief

  213. STTBM

Akers over Dobbins….Gross he went to Rams! Sighs a nice get for Dallas, he looks pretty badass…I hate Dallas!

Philly takes Hurts…making up for not getting Russ lol?!

  214. DavidInBellingham

Shaping up like the 2012 draft! Getting panned about our first pick, pass rush DE and MLB first two picks, now time to get the next Russell Wilson with our third round pick!

  215. charlietheunicorn

    Good

Keep taking fools the Seahawks don’t want off the board!

  216. Volume12

Lol. Epenesa is such a prototypical Bills D-lineman.

    • Coleslaw

Right? Lol I like it for them at 54. He can help them out.

      • Volume12

I like it too. I like Epenesa.

  217. mishima

    Hunch: Josh Jones.

    • Coleslaw

I’d love it! Jones has been one of my favorite OTs since the beginning. Didn’t tall about him much cause his stock was all over the place and hes not necessarily ‘sexy’ but he would be a solid pick. I thought so at 35.

    • Greg Haugsven

Could be. Cleveland still there to but I like Jones better.

    • Zeke

      Ezra Cleveland still there too

  218. charlietheunicorn

Tunafish are killing the draft imo

of course, you better with 5 picks in 2 rounds

  219. Paul Cook

If we stay where we are, with only a decent amount of luck we’re going to get somebody good.

    • Greg Haugsven

We will but we wont select again until 133 basically two full rounds.

      • Rob Staton

Which is most unlike this team.

Funny how they ended up turning a lot of cap space into not a lot of added quality on the roster and now they’re down to six picks.

        • DavidInBellingham

          Abhorrence for Lawrence?

      • Volume12

They can use one of those 4ths to move up into the 3rd.

  220. TJ

With the way these picks are falling, a lot of potential targets are still on the board. With only 9 more picks before they are up again, Seattle may be able to trade down a few spots and STILL get their guy, if their guy is one that we have been discussing.

  221. Rob Staton

I made some videos anticipating a handful of picks.

    Darrell Taylor was one.

    Check it out: https://twitter.com/robstaton/status/1253843553991757829

    • Paul Cook

Excited about the pick, Rob? I am. Am I wrong?

    • Sea Mode

Man he can stick his foot in the ground and turn the corner with power!

      • Greg Haugsven

High upside for sure, just inconsistent. Why he is available at 48.

    • Big Mike

like seeing that 18.6% win pct

    • Justin Mullikin

Looks great. He has a quick get off. I am excited about this so far.

    • downtownjewelrybryan

      you make beats too, Rob?

    • Denver Hawker

      Love his bend.

  222. Derek

What’s going on with the fall for Denzel Mims? I loved his tape and would have been top 5 WR for me.

  223. Kingdome1976

Well at least I got one player right on my 12 player entry.

    • Producehawk

You are kicking my ass. Once again I prove I don’t have a clue! Lol

  224. Coleslaw

Miami added bookend OTs and another OT who will also be a stud OG. Added bookend CBs. And got possibly the top QB in the draft. They still have like a bajillion picks

  225. Sea Mode

That Black Panther clue yesterday about the Jabari Tribe: Zuniga!

    • Scot04

      Would be nice

  226. Greg Haugsven

Cleveland, Madubuike, Josh Jones, Okwara, Zuniga, Mims, Edwards, Robertson?

    • Derek

Seems like Mims, Jones, Cleveland falling for some reason

  227. Paul Cook

Damn. One of my mouth-waterers gone.

  228. Coleslaw

Well this is Ingram’s 10th season

  229. STTBM

Ah, man….no more backs left! I’m not a fan of Moss….

    • Hawktalker#1

Preferences for the next bit? Mine either 1-Hamilton, 2-Zuniga

      • Cameron

Trade Zuniga for Okwara and I’m with you.

  230. Greg Haugsven

Baltimore killing it with Queens and Dobbins.

    • Greg Haugsven

If I wasnt a Seahawks fan i would be a Ravens fan. Love the way they do things.

  231. mishima

Roger Goodell is quite the hype man.

    • DavidInBellingham

Haven’t seen, but is he wearing a big clock around his neck?

      • mishima

Becoming a sneaky good draft by the Seahawks.

Shame we don’t have a few more picks here.

        • mishima

reply fail or reply flavor flav

  232. charlietheunicorn

Zuniga is a sparq’ed up fool

  233. Volume12

Charlie was right. The ‘Phins are killing it.

  234. Big Mike

    damned dolphins

  235. Paul Cook

Went downhill fast with Dobbins and Davis gone. Ouch.

  236. Cad

These last two picks have been brutal

  237. Matt

    Dammit! Raekwon.

  238. STTBM

    Dadgum! Dolphins doing work!

  239. Rowdy

What’s up with Zack baun? Did that diluted test
Make him a day 3 pick.

  240. Scot04

Miami screws us again 1st in trade with Packers and now Davis

  241. Coleslaw

    Daaaamn Daniel…

  242. Hawktalker#1

    Another target gone

  243. HOUSE

DAMMIT man… I hate Miami for 2 picks tonight. Greedy bastards

  244. downtownjewelrybryan

    NOOOOOOO! the chef

  245. Matt

Screw it…blow your whole load on Defense. Just get the meanest MFers you can find. Zuniga would be great at 64.

    • charlietheunicorn

To be fair, they need all help they can get at all levels

      • Matt

I’m just saying – fix the defense. No more soft and slow people. Get big, mean, and fast. Don’t care where it’s at anymore. I want to intimidate people again.

  246. One Bad Mata'afa

Didn’t someone say a clue was Zoolander?

Blue Steele: Cleveland (Smurf turf) or Okwara (Big Blue)?

    • Volume12

      Ooohhh. Those are good guesses.

I’d be so stoked for Cleveland.

      • BoiseSeahawk

It’s blue steel or ‘Steal’ as in trade back with the panthers.

  247. Erik

Man, Dolphin fans must be having a hell of a time right now. The fun might not carryover into the regular season, but what a fun draft for them

    • Coleslaw

Even if Tua doesnt start right away, they were playing quite well towards the end of the year. I think they’re already at 8-8 if they play like that and with these additions in FA and draft. Still a lot more to come too.

Dolphins gonna be most improved team for sure

      • mishima

Hunt might be their best pick. Questions with the rest.

  248. Aaron

    Miami…NOOOOOOO!!!!

  249. Kingdome1976

Sweet. Davis is off the board.

    • Paul Cook

You were waiting for this moment. LOL

    • CaptainJack

Did Raekwon run over this dude’s dog?

      • Paul Cook

LOL He’s been a hater. All in fun…

  250. Rob Staton

Wonder what the story is on Ezra Cleveland, Josh Jones and Denzel Mims lasting this long.

Plus Willie Gay and Josh Uche were being touted to go quite early today.

    • Volume12

Mims’ testing didn’t match the tape IMO, and he’s coming from an offense that badically runs HS level routes and concepts.

      • Ben S

Would be an easy transition to our passing O then!

      • Volume12

Having said that, he has freakish upside and is such a physical specimen. Would make a very good 3rd or 4th wideout as he learns a route tree.

    • Rob4q

There was some talk of Cleveland and Jones in round 1, even Mims late rd 1. And Uche was supposed to be long gone by now…

    • Davido

Especially suprised with Mims I was sure he climbed up those draftboards over the last weeks.
He ticks every box physically from his testing and showed game readiness in the pro bowl.
I just get the feeling that the combine was really irrelevant this year. We just took 2 guys that didn’t test, the OLine ranking seemed to not be impacted by it much and now Mims is falling behind guys like Van Jefferson.

    • Erik

Wow, totally forgot Uche was still on the board.

    • Madmark

Denzel Mims is one on my mind . Goodbye David Moore was my thought you think they get him as the last talent of this WR class ?

  251. charlietheunicorn

Mims, still on the board… intriquing

  252. Rob4q

This draft is going to change the fortunes of the Miami Dolphins! They will be a playoff team within a year if they get decent QB play…Tua needs to be healthy and this team is set up for success for a long time! And I ink Flores is going to be a really good coach in the NFL…

    • AlaskaHawk

I’m impressed. They are a team to follow – and Tampa Bay. A resurgence of power in Florida.

  253. Scot04

    OT to Rams likely

    • Big Mike

      cleveland?

  254. Greg Haugsven

    Jones or Cleveland for everyone?
    Zuniga or Okwara?

    • Zeke

Yeah one of those 4, but we know it’ll be a trade down or someone off the radar

      • Zeke

        Or Justin Madubuike

  255. Scot04

    Love Van Jefferson. Great hands

    • Jace

      Me too.

  256. CaptainJack

Davis was the first pick that really “stung” for me

  257. downtownjewelrybryan

    kingsbury and mcvay live together?

    • Producehawk

      Shhhhh! Don’t judge them

      • downtownjewelrybryan

        division rivals

        …..and division lovers

        • mishima

          Grow up.

  258. Producehawk

If I had drafted for Miami I would be kicking ass

  259. Sneekes

I’d go Hamilton or trade back if possible

  260. Jace

There goes my WR pick for the Hawks. Man I hate the Rams.

  261. CaptainJack

Ezra Cleveland is to me what Raekwon Davis is to Kingdome

  262. John_s

Hook Darrell Taylor with Cliff Avril. Cliff will get Taylor’s technique right

    • CaptainJack

      BINGO.

      Taylor is a perfect pick.

  263. Volume12

Great pick for Minnesota man. They’ve had a great draft.

    • Trevor

They have killed it along with the Dolphins.

  264. Trevor

Love the pick of Taylor. If he can stay healthy he will be one of the steals of the draft. Bummed out about Claypool but happy for him going to the Steelers where they know how to develop revivers.

Still some amazing options at the end of Rd#2 would love to see Mimms, Hamilton, Uche or Zuniga

  265. Jeff

I know the clue! Part of it at least.

Last year Seattle drafted a WR with the last pick of the 2nd round. This year they’ll do the same (“duos”).

    • Volume12

      Hmmmmm….🤔

    • Jeff

I’m thinking it’ll be another highly athletic receiver from a southern school: Denzel Mims.

      • Jeff

        Welp…

    • Sea Mode

      I guessed Zuniga.

      • Greg Haugsven

Duos could be two defensive ends as well.

  266. Volume12

Are the Jets moving back again?

  267. LantermanC

Just realized Uche is still available… Hope he is the “bookend” to the due of Darrell Taylor… Then again, I doubt it, because how would John and Pete know he’d be available still at 64?!?!

  268. charlietheunicorn

    Let Russ Cook!

  269. Jeff

I’m thinking it’ll be another highly athletic receiver from a southern school: Denzel Mims.

  270. CaptainJack

It is so relieving to see a player you really don’t want come off the board.

  271. Volume12

How did KC get 63? Didn’t we have their 2nd or did they have multiple 2’s?

    • Shibu

I think it was for Dee Ford to the 9ers

    • Big Mike

      mustve traded with frisco

    • Cameron

They have SF’s pick from Dee Ford trade.

    • Dave O.

      Dee Ford

  272. Logan Lynch

As weird as it looks to type this out, I don’t think SEA is going to volume draft this year. They’re going to draft a few guys they really want that they think can contribute right away. Then, they’ll sign a ton of UDFA and let those who prove themselves make it. It’s going to be a weird offseason anyway and likely be more beneficial to have veterans and quick learners. Training camp (if it ever starts) is going to be a shark tank.

  273. Rob4q

Okay, as Rob notes above the top 5 RB’s are off the board. So which RB that is left do you want to see them draft? You know they are going to take one late…

    My pick is:

    Rico Dowdle, RB, South Carolina

I think they will trade back into the 7th like last year to take him!

    • John_s

Yeah. He’s got the measurables for sure.

      My guess is James Robinson

    • WallaSean

Antonio Gibson for me, use him on 3rd down to keep the others fresh, can play him at WR too.

  274. Matt

Uche is strong enough to play LEO…hmmm. I think I would kind of love a Taylor-Uche duo as the edge.

Uche is absurdly strong for his size – wouldn’t shock me.

  275. Volume12

    Look at all those receivers!

Mims, Duvernay, Gibson (more of a gadget guy), Edwards, Lynn Bowden. Damn.

    • Volume12

There goes Mims. Jets needed a wideout.

    • Coleslaw

I’d have to take a ‘bathroom break’ if we draft Edwards

      • Volume12

        Really? Why?

        • Coleslaw

          I love him haha

          • Volume12

Ohhh. Usually a bathroom or piss break is for something you don’t care for. At least in wrestling lingo.

      • Ben S

        I’ll be joining you

  276. Greg Haugsven

    The telecast keep tipping picks.

  277. Coleslaw

I’m thinking we go DE again. Uche, Okwara, Zuniga, Weaver. Anyone else?

  278. McZ

Good thing the Rams just spoiled their draft by not taking Ezra C.
As a rule… if you have an elder LT and one of the worst OLs, and there is a very good player to pick up for nuts, you just have to draft.

McVay is obsessed with pointy attackers…

  279. TomLPDX

    64: Bryan Edwards?

  280. Sea Mode

    Gregg Bell
    @gbellseattle
    ·7m

Darrell Taylor says #Seahawks, Pete Carroll have told him they want his hand on the ground and be a straight-line pass rusher off the edge–exactly what they need. He played 2 yrs as a DE, last two as an OLB in college. Pretty familiar with 4-3 scheme, including back in HS in Va.

  281. Big Mike

    im still going with DT

  282. CaptainJack

I wonder what the story with Mims was, but I didn’t really care for him.

    • Justin Mullikin

I don’t know, he reminds me of DK Metcalfe

  283. regan

NE moving up to get Edwards?

    • Volume12

Packers gotta get a WR too. Or at least I thought.

  284. Greg Haugsven

Down to maybe Okwara, Jones, Zuniga, Edward’s, Robertson maybe?

    • Greg Haugsven

      Madabuike as well.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Hamilton?

    • Volume12

Fotu, Hamilton, Rashad Laarence, maybe a receiver.

I know they don’t go corner early, but Kristian Fulton is there too.

      • Coleslaw

Holy crap Fulton would be a STEAL

      • CaptainJack

No thanks of Lawrence. Yes to Hamilton.

    • Cameron

      Hamilton a big omission.

  285. charlietheunicorn

    Patriots……. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  286. Volume12

Wow! NE just keeps playing chess.

  287. Trevor

I think that will end up being the steal of draft for Jets getting Mimms.

    • Sea Mode

      Depends who’s throwing to him…

    • Producehawk

They already have made good on the trade and still have our 101. Sigh

  288. Greg Haugsven

Uche joining Winovich as Michigan boys to NE.

  289. RWIII

If Schneider does not trade trade pick 64 then either DT or RB.

    • Cameron

      Hunter Bryant a dark horse.

  290. Paul Cook

It wouldn’t kill me if they traded back. And I’d be okay if they went D again.

    • Rob Staton

      Agreed on both counts.

    • Sea Mode

      I think they take Zuniga.

    • Volume12

I want them to trade back. 🙏

    • mishima

Agree, but prefer they trade back.

  291. Jordan

    DAMN. Wanted Uche…

    • Rob Staton

      Couldn’t do that after Taylor.

  292. AlaskaHawk

Ferkin Patriots – hard not to admire their drafting.

Miami shows it’s good to have 5 picks in the first two rounds.

  293. TatupuTime

Ack. Hate when players I like end up on teams I don’t. Ayiuk to SF, Claypool to Pitt and Duggar/Uche to NE.

  294. Rob Staton

So many good players still available. Wish we had an extra third.

    • Volume12

Right? This years 2nd & 3rd were loaded. A little unusual.

      • Paul Cook

        Yup. That’s all I got.

    • Madmark

Extra draft picks are hard to find now

    • Producehawk

Is it bad of me that I seem to understand every other teams drafts better than the one team I follow?

      • Greg Haugsven

Wish we had any third at this point.

    • Denver Hawker

Would two 4s get it done?

  295. Scot04

    Hope Zuniga or Hamilton

  296. JD

Do we see Taylor as a LEO? Would that make Zuniga a more likely as a pure Edge? If Taylor’s a LEO, does that take Okwara off the board for us?

    • Greg Haugsven

Taylor to me is just like Avril, so yes LEO for me.

  297. CaptainJack

New England killing round 2. But who is the qb of the future there.

    • Big Mike

      i can see eason

    • Justin Mullikin

Who knows. I kind of think NE is going to roll with what they got and see what options fall to them either in draft or after. Cam Newton is still there to be had.

  298. RWIII

Tennessee is on the clock. Will they take a DE/Edge Rusher?

  299. Brian Sanders

I think Van Jefferson’s upside is just what the pundits say: son of a former pro and is polished in football play and character….just knows how to play. Speaking of polished and relatively untouted, I like Tyler Johnson of Minnesota..best quote I liked was, knows how to work back to the QB….a RW requirement!

  300. John_s

Love this. We got some swagger back on D fellas.

Jordyn Brooks watch first 10 seconds https://youtu.be/7_vcSX6fxx4

    Darrell Taylor http://twitter.com/VolBlood/status/1253841943257329671

  301. Zeke

I’m going to rage if they pick a RB at 64

    • Big Mike

no one left. likely DT or DE

      • Zeke

        They met with Moss

        • Greg Haugsven

You would think Moss might be more 133

  302. TomLPDX

Josh Jones still on the board…

  303. Spireite_Seahawk

Did the Chiefs move in front of us at 63 or am I bleary eyed as its 2am?

    • TatupuTime

Think they have SF pick (from Dee Ford) and Seahawks have Chiefs pick from Clark.

    • Big Mike

naw traded with frisco (dee ford someone said)

    • Spireite_Seahawk

They got the Whiners 2nd rounder didn’t they? Dont mind me.

    • Sea Mode

No, that’s the pick they got from SF

  304. Logan Lynch

Do they go DL again? I’d be fine with that.

But what if they get weird and add Chinn? Sign Griffen and a vet DT to fill out the DL for this season. Offense is fine.

  305. DavidInBellingham

What player might get a team to trade into 64?

    • Greg Haugsven

      Could be anyone. Maybe Eason?

      • DavidInBellingham

Thank you for the astute reply! Certainly possible.

    • CaptainJack

Random thought but, Jacob Eason? Jake Fromm?

      • DavidInBellingham

Appreciate your thoughts. Fromm also a possibility.

  306. John_s

Love this. We got some swagger back on D fellas.

  307. Volume12

    Another tragic backstory. 🤦‍♂️

    • Producehawk

      That one was pretty fresh.

  308. CaptainJack

I am just hoping for more d line.

  309. Thomas Wells

Looking at who is left they are going to trade down or double down on the defensive line. So many good options still available: Zuniga/okwara/weaver at end and Hamilton/madubuike/fotu at dt

    • Volume12

Forgot about Weaver. Was he the ‘blue steel’ clue?

      • Thomas Wells

Could be! Also Gators (Zuniga) and Irish (okwara) both wear blue

  310. Volume12

Jeremy Chinn is still there too.

  311. RWIII

I was hoping Tennessee would take pass rush. They would be less likely go after Clowney.

  312. Bruce Smith

    I’m thinking O-Line, like Cushenberry.

    • Producehawk

      What about Jones?

  313. Volume12

Love AJ Dillon. In round 2 though? Ehhhh.

    • CaptainJack

      Agreed that is rich

    • John_s

Not sure Why you take Dillon when you have Aaron Jones.

Green Bay are going to be 60/40 run pass aren’t they?

    • Cameron

I would have been happy with him at 64.

Bummed, outrageous explosiveness at 250 lbs.

  314. Steve Nelsen

Love seeing DaVon Hamilton still there. He was a Senior Bowl stud.

  315. Hawkster

    argh, AJ

  316. Big Mike

    early for dillon?

    • Volume12

      Yeah

  317. CaptainJack

Greenbay is having a pretty underwhelming draft.

    • DC

      Good! Let A-Rod wither away

      • Hawkster

GB soooo needed a WR, they trade up to 26 and grabe Erin’s replacement. Wasn’t Riders drafteed at 26 just after a coaching change to back-up Farve? Must just be killing Rodgers.

  318. Zane

    I’m calling Lucas Niang here

    • JC3

For sure they are going to trade down. JS is itching not trading down for more picks.

  319. Sea Mode

KC gonna take another stud? Chinn?

  320. Zeke

Josh Jones, Okwara or Zuniga pls

    I’m guessing a DT though

  321. CaptainJack

    Nice trade down.

    • Volume12

      Come on man. Don’t tip.

      • CaptainJack

Sorry man, I am following along the nfl website. I didn’t know that was out of sync with the broadcast. I thought the tips were on twitter. Genuine mistake on my part and I feel bad.

        • Sea Mode

          All good, bro

    • Sea Mode

They haven’t even announced KC’s pick on my stream yet, man.

      • CaptainJack

Sorry man, didn’t know it was out of synch. Won’t do it again.

        • Volume12

No worries. It happens. Wasn’t malicious.

  322. BobbyK

Hawks trade pick for picks 69 and 148.

    • Big Mike

      thanks. no surprise

    • CaptainJack

      Nice

    • TomLPDX

      Thanks for the spoil, Bobby.

  323. Logan Lynch

Pete’s gonna want to fix the D. Any team with 2 3rd rounders that would trade up?

    • Bayahawk

      Raiders have 3:16, 3:17 and 3:27

  324. hector l

    BAUN

  325. Coleslaw

Willie Gay Jr. Wouldve been nice here if we didnt pick Brooks

    • Hawktalker#1

      Agreed

    • don

Is Gay better than Brooks? Honest question, Gay looked good on the highlights

    • Zane

I was never impressed by his tape. Didn’t see the hype.

  326. Donny Henson

looks like we are sticking with the pick. It will be the last pick for us tonight unless we trade into the back end of the third round.

    • Donny Henson

      never mind…

  327. Ashish

    trade to Carolina

  328. Gohawks5151

    Gay for KC

    • Gohawks5151

Great pick! I like KC man

  329. HOUSE

KC’s pick is in… What we doing? Picking or trading?

  330. Coug1990

    Traded the pick to Carolina

  331. Paul Cook

Decent draft for KC considering they’re SB champs.

    • Big Mike

      concur 100%

    • Davido

The luxury you have as the champ. You can take a shot that others are not willing to risk.

  332. Coleslaw

If you tip picks I will find you, and I will kill you.

    • Nathan

      Joe Burrow to Cincinatti.

    • Derek

I will help dispose of body

  333. Big Mike

KC used to problem children. could well be a helluva value for them

  334. charlietheunicorn

Looking for a 5th round pick love trade!

  335. Greg Haugsven

Might get 69 and 152 from Carolina?

    • Bayahawk

69 and 148 from what I can see.

      • Producehawk

        I was hoping 113

    • Greg Haugsven

Looks like 148 as Carolina has 148 and 152.

  336. Producehawk

Knew it what did we get?

    • Sea Mode

      Early R5- 148

    • Greg Haugsven

      69, 148

  337. Big Mike

so we’ve now got one in every round except 7, right?

  338. RWIII

Man. The Chiefs are killing it. First CEH. Then Willie Gay Jr.

  339. Justin Mullikin

I do not think people were trying to. NFL.com showed the trade like 5 minutes before it showed up on my TV.

  340. Sea Mode

So we could have taken Isaiah Wilson at 27 and still gotten Gay or Logan Wilson at 64. Wow.

    • Cameron

Gay a huge character question mark though. When culture is such a huge part of your program, I could easily see Gay not being on their draft board at all.

      • Sea Mode

True, and he’s pretty raw as well, which is the opposite of what they said they’re after this year.

But the athleticism is on Isaiah Simmons’ level.

        • Cameron

To your point, could be a trap many fall into this year. Fall in love with athleticism, have relatively no time to develop them prior to the season.

  341. CaptainJack

Just for future reference, it appears the picks on nfl.com are synced with the broadcast. I didn’t find out about who KC drafted until people on the blog did, at least Big Mike. But the trades are “tipped” (I am not certain what this even means). Just for people who are just looking at the website and not the broadcast. If I am incorrect about this, someone please let me know.

    • Big Mike

im just watching ESPN my friend

    • Jon

People on twitter following “experts” and “reporting picks as if they are breaking news. People here just want to experience the draft.

      • CaptainJack

Cool, not on twitter but now I know how to deal with the website.

    • Brian Sanders

      ESPN is on point!

  342. Trevor

The Chiefs have been just killing it the last couple of off seasons. Another great draft for them.

    • Greg Haugsven

Them and the Ravens. The rich getting richer.

  343. charlietheunicorn

Only dropped a few spots and got a free 5th rounder, 2nd pick I think

  344. regan

5.2 for moving back 6 spots. I like that!

  345. cha

So with Davon Hamilton, Zuniga and Okwara still on the board the Hawks trade back.

    OK…

    • Zeke

only 5 picks down and there’s also Josh Jones, Niang, Cushenberry, Prince Tega,

  346. Volume12

    #69. Nice.

    • Big Mike

      love it

  347. Jhams

    Nice

  348. Greg Haugsven

I think Lockett went 69 right?

    • Sea Mode

      Indeed.

  349. Volume12

The duo clue wasn’t a team was it?

Jajuan Jennings, WR, Tennessee . Probably too slow but gritty AF.

    • Rob Staton

      Nah.

Got to be a pair of DL.

      • Volume12

I’m leaning that way too. Although something in the back of my mind says offense. Hopr it’s wrong.

  350. Bayahawk

    Carolina gonna be trouble.

    • Bayahawk

D Brown, Gross-Matos and Chinn. Young, hungry D.

      • Volume12

        And Brian Burns

  351. Paul Cook

With that trade down, I’m really late for cooking dinner.

    • Big Mike

i brought chicken home from the store so i didn’t have to cook. wife cooked last night cuz she knew how much watching this meant to me

      • Paul Cook

        Smarter than I tonight. LOL

        • Sea Mode

I did Ramen noodles if it makes you feel any better…

          • Paul Cook

You da man, Sea Mode. A real hippie. 🙂

  352. Volume12

    Who’d Carolina take?

    • Sea Mode

      Chinn

      • Volume12

Damn. Matt Rhule building himself quite the defensive unit.

  353. CaptainJack

really surprised at a lot of the dline guys left on the board

  354. don

Now watch all of JC’s favorites disappear in the next 4 picks

  355. Ben Ft. Worth

I’d trade back again if I could. Wouldn’t be surprised.

  356. Iceman

Drafting in Carroll/Schneider era hasn’t been the same since Scot McCloughan left. Need to Hire Rob.

  357. Troy D

I wonder if we look to trade back again into the mid 80’s and pick up another later pick. Not sure what the value would equate too?

    • Ted G

How about sliding back from 69 with Raiders

      69 (245) in exchange from 80 (190) + 121 (52) + 2021 6th

    • Jon

      Jets for 79 and 120

  358. Paul Cook

Okay, don’t really care about him. Maybe they do trade back again. No surprise if they do.

  359. Ben Ft. Worth

From 69 to 80 would be something in the late 120’s or early 130’s.

  360. Bayahawk

Detroit should pick up Josh Jones. Leave Seattle the DL/DE picks they can choose from.

  361. Big Mike

dont wanna trade back any further myself. want another d line guy,

    • Sea Mode

agree. we filled the gap in R5 and still have 2 R4. let’s take our guy. Zuniga, Hamilton, Okwara: take your pick.

Prince Tega still out there too though…

  362. STTBM

    Zuniga, Madubuike, Hamilton still available…

  363. Rob4q

Again good value with the trade, let’s see who they take!

    Sea 64 for
    CAR 69 + 148

    Trade Totals
    SEA Gives Value: 270
    CAR Gives Value: 277.2

    Gain/Loss %
    SEA: +2.67%
    CAR: -2.6%

  364. charlietheunicorn

Some quality DT prospects available. Right time to grab one.

JK Dobbins still available I believe as well, which is shocking.

    • Bayahawk

      Dobbins gone.

    • cha

      Dobbins went at 55

  365. jopa726

Could Devon Hamilton be the pick?

    • Big Mike

be a feather in rob’s hat if it is. he sold me

    • Bayahawk

If Seattle can trade down another 10-15 spots and pick up a late 4th/early 5th, I’d be happy with Hamilton.

  366. Paul Cook

Okay…how about we get a DT or that WR from SC that Rob drew my attention to.

  367. CaptainJack

Wait, JK is still on the board? Did Rob miss that in his “big five”

    • Coleslaw

      He went to Baltimore

      • CaptainJack

        got it

    • charlietheunicorn

my mistake, Ravens took him #23 2nd round

  368. Volume12

Was outside having a smoke. Who did Cincy take?

    • Sea Mode

      Logan Wilson

  369. Producehawk

Davon Hamilton, Zuniga Or maybe Jones?

    • charlietheunicorn

      Moss 😉

  370. Troy

Props to Vol12, he called that we would trade back way before it happened.

    • Troy

      On 64 specifically that is

  371. Coleslaw

Gibson gonna help Haskins ID defenses

    • CaptainJack

So far this third round has been a tad painful.

  372. Georgia Hawk

Kj Wright repping on Family Feud!

  373. RWIII

Josh Jones, Zach Moss, Davon Hamilton, and Justin Madubuike still on the board.

  374. JimQ

    Is EDGE/DE-Jonathan Greenard a possibility?

    • Coleslaw

I like that one after Taylor

  375. Sea Mode

    What about Prince Tega?

Could have been the Black Panther clue too… 😬

    • Volume12

      Dope.

I like Josh Jones too. Versatile.

  376. Paul Cook

Personally speaking, I was never that big on Okwara.

    • Volume12

That’s awesome he gets to join his brother though. Don’t see it too often.

    • STTBM

Okwaras bro plays/played for Lions too…

  377. Scot04

Unfortunately Jets need edge rusher too

  378. Sea Mode

Wow, imagine getting drafted to play with your brother in the NFL.

    • Hawktalker#1

      Ha nice

    • Coleslaw

      Who’s that?

      • Sea Mode

        Okwara

        Romeo and Julian

  379. RWIII

Paul Cook. Brock Huard was not a big fan of Okwara either.

    • Paul Cook

      He wreaked average to me.

  380. jopa726

We are on the clock! So many options.

  381. Paul Cook

OKAY! There are DT’s available here..,

  382. Joe

Solid trade for the Hawks! Only they only moved back a few spots to acquire a 4th!,

  383. hector l

    Zack Baun

  384. CaptainJack

I am ready to be surprised.

  385. Volume12

    I liked Ashtyn Davis.

  386. Michael Hasslinger

    I guess Bryan Edwards

  387. Paul Cook

    DT

  388. Cameron

    Pick is in!

  389. hector l

    ok good OL

    • Bayahawk

Wow. Seems early but we know how PCJS work.

  390. Volume12

Damn good pick. Something told me offense. Mauler

    • Volume12

Rob should be happy w/ that one

  391. Sea Mode

    Pick IN!

  392. Producehawk

    Head slap

  393. Big Mike

didnt rob tip us as this guy being possible?

  394. Michael Hasslinger

    Hell yeah!!!

  395. CaptainJack

This is the first pick that I hate.

    • Brian Sanders

Totally! All I see is everyone praising it and Rob. Sure, great OL, but during Covid-19 and all the NFL experienced lineman in free agency, I see a need for more front seven. I will say, like the pick if we had more picks available. Volume between 50-140 is key.

  396. Scot04

Another interior lineman. I love the player but very surprising

  397. Troy

Lewis! I think you called that Rob, thanks for highlighting him!

    • Big Mike

yeah i asked the same above. i think he did

  398. Paul Cook

Not a sexy pick, but very efficient.

    Off to cook dinner now.

    • Sea Mode

      Name checks out. 😜

      • Paul Cook

        LOL

  399. Zeke

    Lolololol

  400. Rowdy

Do we keep 9 guards this year?

  401. Coleslaw

    Underrated

  402. Sea Mode

    ROB’S INTERVIEW!!!!

  403. HOUSE

    Damien Lewis… not bad

  404. Hawkcrazy

Love Lewis but really when they signed like 30 OL and still haven’t drafted a defensive tackle… Just dont understand this team

    • Bill Washington

Mone gonna pop in 2020 bro!

  405. CHawk Talker Eric

I like the player, but again, I don’t like where they took him and honestly, with a roster already LOADED with interior OL, is this the best use of draft capital? Between the OL and DL, which position group needs more players? I rest my case.

    • hawkdawg

It’s not just about volume. It’s about talent, too. Lewis will be better than any guard on our team, I’ll bet.

      • CHawk Talker Eric

I agree he’s probably going to be better than the journeymen OLers they signed this offseason. But how does adding another OG make the team better when the DL remains a leaky sieve?

        • Rashi

Once again draft is not over. Free agency is not over.

        • Mike

Had we not signed 47 OG projects and backups, and waited for after the draft to sign em like any other team, we could have been a lot more excited about this pick. Heck, that cap space might’ve helped sign a certain player we’ve talked about all freaking offseason..

Good player, but now it seems like we are lighting money on fire for “competition”, just not at the place we need more competition.

          • Brian Sanders

Mike, totally agree! Draft heavy in the front seven and compete! Whatever shakes out is fine with me!

      • Brian Sanders

        Place that bet!

  406. hector l

now how do we get some speed receiver …..Cephus 5th?

    • Paul Cook

The bottom line is that they just didn’t value WR in this draft despite the plethora of talent i that department.

    • Davido

This Dorsett guy is pretty fast. Don’t think we absolutely need to aim for speed but there are still some fast WR left for us to take in the 4th!

  407. STTBM

Sigh…19 Olinemen…maybe we field an average (top 20) line this year?!

  408. pdway

that is a classic Hawks G body type right there . . .

    • Volume12

He’s smart, tough, reliable. Gritty. Pushes dudes around in the run game. What’s not to like?

      Has that backstory too.

      • pdway

        I’m not anti . . .

      • Brian Sanders

He pushed college dudes around…time will tell but out need is not OL

  409. Steve Nelsen

You had better come to compete if you want to be on Seattle’s O-line this year.

  410. Mark Souza

Well, we’ve cornered the market on guards. We have about 40 on the roster now.

  411. DC

So can we cut some of those 50 journeyman OL we signed in FA?

    • Kelly

Exactly what i was fricken thinking.

    • Brian Sanders

No, he’s gonna jump in a compete and try to make the team….stupid pick!

    • Hawkcrazy

Heck I was wondering if we could trade and get something in return.

  412. Rob4q

    You rock Rob!!!

  413. Michael Hasslinger

    Best OL at senior bowl

  414. Justin Mullikin

I love the pick. I was the guy who looked up Damien Lewis after I misunderstood what Rob has said about Robert Hunt from Louisiana. Rob even interviewed the guy. Super excited!

  415. Bayahawk

Snacks Harrison and Brandon Mebane looking for work. Maybe a veteran signing instead?

    • Bayahawk

      Reply fail. Apologies.

    • Brian Sanders

Looking more like that for sure!

      • Sea Mode

        Keep raiding LSU: Rashard Lawrence

  416. Troy

I’m holding out hope that we end up trading up for one of the good remaining DTs…

    • Hawktalker#1

Would love that but what do we have to use as trade capital?

      • Troy

        2 4ths, a 5th and a 6th lol

  417. Brian Sanders

Freaking hate the Lewis pick….like this one random OL draft pick will somehow improve our running game and protect RW. OL usually takes time to develop and we need ‘D’ front seven or more importantly, front four to keep the linebackers clean and speed on the edge. Just another OL to compete with the other 12 lineman…Good grief! Madibuike, Davon Hamilton???? Push the center of the pocket to allow the edge to get home….F#%%$##

    • Volume12

Guards need way less time to step in and contribute than an offensive tackle.

      • Brian Sanders

I will grant you that for sure, but we need front 4 to 7 much more! Offense was 8th in the league with shit OL….we shall see….and as I type, there goes Madibuike! F…..

        • Rashi

We have many more picks. And free agency is not over. Calm down. Let it play out.

          • Brian Sanders

Love your perspective Rashi, but we don’t have many more picks; we have 4. I do believe however, that there will be a plethora of UDFA and we are the best in farming that market. But seriously, my take is we are compiling all these OL due to the current Covid circumstances and unknown training camp scenarios and NFL experience trumps rookie OL. Defense is not only a need, but you can plug and play there more than any other position on both sides of the ball….and there is talent everywhere 40-150 so compile many picks as tightly together as possible. Too late, but never panic for me, I actually think LJ is going to step up big this year and Rasheem in year 3 is really going to show out. I certainly would have chosen Queen over Brooks for his 1.51 split and zone drop ability but cool with that still.

    • McZ

Was bound to go 5th round, we snap him at #69.
Are the Seahawks really that detached from league reality, that they actually really think, this massive reach is a good pick?

      • Jhams

I’m sure you, rando in a comments section, have a better feel for the league than PCJS. Why won’t they turn to the real experts, people in comments sections?!?!

  418. TomLPDX

Good night my fellow hawk fans. Another day…

  419. charlietheunicorn

A bit surprising since Seattle had some nice DT prospects available

    • Bill Washington

Mone gonna pop in 2020 bro!

  420. Aaron

    Damien Lewis!!! Hell Yeah!!!

  421. Coleslaw

I’d rather have too many OL than too little. Great pick! Great day for us. Wish we still had another pick though 😭

  422. Spireite_Seahawk

Thought he was excellent in Homeland

  423. Trevor

With Haynes, Jones and Lewis we should be set with 3 good young Guards going forward.

    • Zeke

Is he better than Rees Odiambo?

  424. Mark Souza

He’s a good player, but he is the 12th guard on our current roster. 12!

    • Bayahawk

But nowhere near their 12th best guard. #2 or 3?

    • Volume12

Most of those guys are just bodies.

      • CaptainJack

But if you want bodies bring in UDFAs. What is the point of spending the cap on all those guards when you’re going to draft one early round three?

        • Justin Mullikin

          Competition. Hedge for the draft.

          • Brian Sanders

We don’t need competition at OL, we NEED competition on DL

      • Mark Souza

Then why waste cap space on them, cap space we needed for pass rush.

  425. Ben Ft. Worth

YAAASSSSS!!!! A road grader!! Carson and Penny will have some nice running lanes.

    • BoiseSeahawk

You mean the hobbling injury lanes that will lead them to their final doom (Isaiah Simmons, Terrell Lewis, or Javon Kinlaw). Can’t believe we didn’t grab a RB yet when Moss was available.

  426. Supra22ssv

    Worst Seahawks draft ever

    • Bayahawk

Just guessing but I assume you’ve never heard of Owen Gill?

      • Big Mike

        LOL for me too

      • Sandjuggler

Owen Gill was a GOD compared to Dan McGuire (actually they were both brutal). We need a Rufus Porter and Joe Nash!

    • Cameron

      Lol

      • Bluenlime

This one is gonna give 2013 draft a run for its money. Watch week 7 when both Penny and Carson are back on the IR and we’re regretting why we passed on all these great backs. Russell should have never asked for anything, Superstars?…yeah ok

  427. Zeke

LT Jones and versatile Cushenberry there. So many Guards

    • Brian Sanders

I don’t want any OL at all, but definitely would have taken Cushenberry ahead of him!

  428. Elizabeth Garza

I like pick. I am surprised we didnt take one of the DL guys that are good value at that pick. I wonder if they believe in Christmas more than some might think or they like the value later on now that some are still there past what people thought. Anyways, personally, Im happy with the 3 guys thus far looking into the next decade.

    • Hawktalker#1

Seriously doubt they have a lot of hopes pinned on Christmas. They better have a different plan

  429. Cortez Kennedy

I feel a lot better after the Taylor and Lewis picks. No way Hamilton makes it out of this round, but I have a small glimmer of hope that teams will continue to forget Bryan Edwards exists.

    • Coleslaw

62 picks until ours, better just start looking at 5th rounders

    • CaptainJack

We could still trade up for Hamilton.

      • Brian Sanders

Ok, but trade up with what? We are thin and volume for me is KEY in the middle rounds!

  430. Michael Hasslinger

Jones and Cush are falling for a reason

    • Zeke

      kinda like Orlando Brown jr

  431. CaptainJack

Short stumpy but powerful. Chance Warmack, Nick Harris vibes. Will move people in the run game, which is good. Not a pass blocker especially against quicker dts, but can hold up against a Bull Rush. Solari obviously loved him.

What really stumps me is why they even bothered bringing in so many guards, when they’ll have to cut most of them.

  432. Rob Staton

Anyone who doesn’t like the Damien Lewis pick — what’s wrong with you?

    Great person. Great player.

    • CaptainJack

I can get stuffed then. I like Damien Lewis, but I don’t see how our offseason moves set us up for drafting a guard this early.

    • HOUSE

Competes to replace Fluker next year?

      • Rob Staton

        Now

        • Michael Hasslinger

          This. Clowney $

        • HOUSE

I liked his interview with you. Seems like a really good kid and solid player

      • Cortez Kennedy

Ever seen Finney or Warmack play?

    • Greg Haugsven

Absolute great player, just didnt think they would go straight guard early after signing a million of them.

      • CaptainJack

Agreed. Like his run blocking. Will he hold up against Donald? In that case probably not, but also can’t be worse than Fluker.

        • Rashi

There is not a single OL in the draft that can hold up against Donald.

          • Justin Mullikin

Nobody can hold up against Donald.

    • Barry

Lol I just commented below. I’m relieved beast of a man and character!

      • Brian Sanders

Awesome, a road grader with character to take our 8th rated offense to 5th while he holds his helmet watching the D get torched!

    • Zeke

A LT with Josh Jones’ potential in the 3rd seems rare

    • McZ

      Too damn early.
Pauline had him borderline draftable at #256, saw him ranked no better than #116.

      • Rob Staton

        He’s a top-50 talent in this draft.

I don’t care what anyone else says.

        • Zeke

would you have picked him over Josh Jones, Zuniga, Hamilton, Hennessy or Cushenberry?

          • Zeke

not sure why the spaces between words happened lol

    • Rowdy

We just like avoiding are biggest needs to draft a position that’s the most loaded on the team. Why did we waste so much money on gaurds in the off-season.

    • Brian Sanders

Nothing, what’s wrong with you? Great person, great player who will compete for a spot in the rotation. We stockpiled OL good/bad/average but all with NFL experience and with this limited preseason and training camp, that was a good decision. Compiling as many picks as possible in the middle rounds and meeting the “compete” mantra in the front 4/7 for me would have been much more important. I’m sure Lewis is a great OL with great character, but not anywhere near the need as collapsing the pocket with Mudabuike and Hamilton still on the board…Greenard, Zuniga, Malik Harrison. Love your blog and opinion, but OL is not the need at this time unless trading back (which seems more difficult with this version of the virtual draft) can acquire 9-11 picks and then I was on board with McKivitz and others but NOT with 6 picks.

      • Rob Staton

They got a top-50 player twenty picks later. It’s fine. He’s far better than some of those other players.

        • Brian Sanders

Top 50 player 20 picks later is like many of the players in the draft Rob; speculation. We need defense and Madibuike was in the same “top 50 20 later” category. Bottom line, if Lewis works out well and 2 or 3 others pan out on either side of the ball and the Seahawks find, as they always do, a few UDFA, we hit on 4-6 total, we’re good.

  433. Greg Haugsven

I cant believe how much the Ravens are killing it.

  434. Barry

Ok I can take a breath. I concur, Rob Lewis is a stud! Great dude, loved your interview with him.

  435. Cortez Kennedy

Josh Jones doesn’t do much for me. I’d rather take Adeniji or Alex Taylor later

  436. Michael Hasslinger

Lewis gonna man up Kinlaw. Yes!!!

  437. GoHawksDani

Love Lewis. Probably my second favorite OG in this draft.
Huge dude and love how he finishes blocks. And not only he’s strong but he also moves well. Check out the senior bowl when he blocked beside his teammate Cushenberry. He climbs to the second level too!
He might redshirt 2020 behind Fluker, but he’ll be 2021 starter for sure.
    Day2 was much better. Tbh I’d trade 2021 R1 for a 3rd and 4th right now.
Madubuike, Hamilton, Hall, Robertson, Duvernay, Moss, Zuniga, and a ton more guys still in we could use.
If we have a chance our day3 picks will be Joe Reed, Moss, Fotu

  438. Trevor

How can the Hawks get back into the 3rd round and get Hamilton at DT.

    • Cortez Kennedy

With a time machine that will take them back to yesterday

    • Kingdome1976

      Dreaming

    • Cameron

      Was just contemplating this.

  439. Gohawks5151

I’d like to see them come up and get Hamilton or Duvernay. I think they may not take a tackle. Someone mentioned a big Tackle for a small school last week. New ish to football. Essentially the next George Fant. Can’t remember the name. I bet he is an early UDFA call.

    • Brian Sanders

The draft is a crap shoot with some knowledge to support decisions so volume is always key IMO. So why not trade up twice and draft 4 picks every year? Please!

  440. CaptainJack

Did we really use our third to get Taylor? Dang..

    • Michael Hasslinger

Taylor the only upside, explosive, LEO out there. Okwara is just not a three down player. A worthwhile risk.

  441. Denver Hawker

    I think they’re done tonight. Can’t package two late 4’s for a 3rd unfortunately.

Love the picks tonight. Wish they had one more with the depth left.

Theme? Mature, development, high ceiling guys. Like the speed on D.

  442. mishima

Haynes, Finney, Lewis going forward? Cut Britt and Fluker: Cap savings to re-sign Clowney?

Listening to Darrell Taylor conference call:
    https://www.facebook.com/Seahawks/videos/3393091210723598/

  444. Volume12

I don’t get the apprehension either. Played in the most physical conference in CFB. He fits perfectly in the NFCW and for a team that wants the ball. He’s an a** kicker. Smashmouth.

    • Volume12

      * run the ball

    • Sea Mode

      +1

  445. Scot04

If they can’t get Hamilton maybe we can get Fotu. Either would be nice fits. Obviously i prefer Hamilton though

    • Michael Hasslinger

Benito Jones may do the trick.

      • Scot04

Could probably get him round 5

    • Big Mike

      he’s gone

      • Scot04

Yep Hamilton is. Thats why i was hoping him with our las pick. Hopefully Fotu lasts

  446. Kingdome1976

I’m just glad we got Taylor. Now let’s go get Clowney

  447. Rob Staton

Wish they had a couple of picks left today.

The DT’s and DE’s are still around.

    • HOUSE

Yup… I don’t wanna watch knowing we don’t have picks, but also have nothing else to watch. lol

  448. DC

Watching some tape on Taylor and WOW, is his get off and bend impressive! That’s the juice off the edge we sorely needed last year. Man, Clowney on one side and him on another, just need Reed to get back to 2018 vibes to push the pocket and the pass rush starting to look a lot better, then sprinkle in some Bruce and Mayowa as rotational guys. It’ll be good to have those 2 guys so Taylor doesn’t have to play 3 days right away.

    • DC

And didn’t think Zuniga would last this long, would be a great pair to go w/ Taylor.

    • DC

And he’s 267 lbs? With that kind of twitch/bend?!

      • Hawkdawg

He has inconsistent tape, but when he’s good, he looks like a pro DE. His get-off is weirdly inconsistent–sometimes right on it, sometimes the slowest on the line. I do love the way he can bend and flatten, though. That is elite stuff, when he’s on it.

  449. JJ

Fluker getting cut for room to sign clowney or Griffen?

    • CaptainJack

Cutting fluke would be a good move honestly

  450. charlietheunicorn

    DAYUMMMMM

  451. Sea Mode

There you go. Darrell Taylor’s dad was incarcerated when Darrell was young. Adversity: check.

Darrell has a 1 year old son. Turns 2 in July. Is already a dad: check.

    • Volume12

      They eat that s**t up.

I always say it, but football is all about how you respond to adversity. If you’be already overcome or dealt with it in life, a game is small time.

      • Volume12

        * you’ve

    • Sea Mode

His dad was incarcerated when he was in 8th grade.

His mom passed away when he was a sophomore in HS (2013).

      Dang.

  452. Murphy

Rib, the Damien Lewis pick makes me appreciate you and this site so much. I’m watching tv and every time Seattle picks they just go quiet and move on. It demonstrates a lack of preparedness on their part. They have packages on certain players but can’t provide at least basic commentary or footage on some really good prospects. Without your interviews and write ups I’d be losing it (ala the rest of the Seahawks social media fan base), instead I’m re listening to the Lewis interview and watching the Taylor highlights you posted. This place is the best!

    • Murphy

Rob not Rib but everyone knew that

      • Bayahawk

Now I’m hungry. Anyone deliver ribs around here?

  453. Michael Hasslinger

    Hamilton gone. Ouch.

  454. John_s

Couple LSU guys Seattle may look at Charles and Lawrence. Pete loves Coach O and his input means lots to PC

    • HOUSE

I’d be happy with either of those guys tomorrow

  455. charlietheunicorn

Got some trade juice going on all of a sudden

    :O

    • Coleslaw

      Who

  456. drewdawg11

If you take a guard this early, you don’t expect to keep the veterans you have. Is fluker a goner? They brought Iupati back. They signed a bunch of journeymen. I would have preferred a tackle instead, but he’s a solid player. There must be a plan, right?

    • Rob Staton

I have no issues with this pick.

      I think they got a top-50 player.

      • drewdawg11

Rob, what’s the plan? Who is making this roster? There had to be a reason to sign so many OL bodies? They passed on a dozen tackles so they believe they’re okay there, (they aren’t). Shell and an agin brown. I know he’s one of your favorites but he’s a guard on a team that didn’t truly need one, (but they like Phil Haynes). I watched him get demolished against brown, (I know it’s brown), but he’s not a top 50 player in this draft.

        • Rob Staton

Listen I’ve questioned the plan as much as anyone.

I can’t criticise getting a top-50 talent in round three.

    • Coleslaw

I think it opens up real competition. We have 2 veteran options returning and a bunch of young guys who could win starting jobs. I think the Warmack types are gone, they were hedges. Think iupati and fluker stick around unless they’re legitimately at the bottom of the depth chart

    • Todd

Bunch of us wanted Raekwon Davis in the 2nd round. Damien Lewis HANDLED Raekwon last year.

  457. Michael Hasslinger

I wonder if they trade back into the third late.

  458. CaptainJack

The major failure of this draft was leaving day three with zero interior dline reinforcements. lets hope there is someone in round 4

    • Coleslaw

Reed and Poona are legit though. We don’t NEED a 3rd stud, would be nice but we can do with the usual veteran

      • dcd2

You think we need our 19th OL more? We have ZERO depth at DT, and Poona isn’t an every down dude.

I like Lewis, quite a bit, but I don’t understand the prioritization of positional need at all.

      • CaptainJack

After last season i am not sold on poona being a starter.

    • Sea Mode

      Rashard Lawrence

      • STTBM

        Goid call. He might work…

      • CaptainJack

I didn’t really love his tape but sure bring him in.

    • dcd2

Agree completely. I really like Damien Lewis, but that seems like the perfect place to take Hamilton.

      • CaptainJack

Totally with you there. That would be been a banger of a pick.

    • Logan Lynch

Remember that Pete and John love signing vet DT. McDaniel, Woods, Stephen, etc. They still have Reed, Poona, Mone. They can find some vets to fill that out.

      • CaptainJack

Oh I am sure they’ll bring in a mediocre older vet. But I am tired of that entire cycle. We need a young guy we can develop over time like Reed, not another one and done who is kind of meh.

        • dcd2

Yep and that’s just more money that we can’t spend on Clowney/Griffen/whomever

        • Logan Lynch

So like Poona then? I would’ve been fine with a DT, but having a mauling young guard that you can develop over time is pretty alright too.

  459. Scot04

Overall a solid 3 first picks

  460. Eburgz

I think we need to cast a wider net and disregard positional need next year. No disrespect to the blog or rob. Great draft for rob and and the blog IMO. I think we can improve in that a lot of valid ideas were dismissed.

Would have loved for some of my favorites to get drafted but all these picks make lots of make sense and tick a lot of boxes. No big surprises though IMO outside of maybe brooks in R1.

    • Rob Staton

No. You never cast out positional need.

      • charlietheunicorn

LB wasn’t widely considered a need, but Seattle felt differently.
DE was a need and they addressed it within the first 3 picks in the draft.

The logic behind some of the guys or picks was good, we just don’t have as much information this year as in years past. To even have some of the guys in the conversation is a minor miracle.

Thought Rob did better than most of the talking heads, even from jolly old England 😉

  461. Sea Mode

Wow, Darrell Taylor actually visited the VMAC before everything closed down. They were in on this guy early.

    • Volume12

Wow. He had tp be one of the 1st visits.

So that’s 3 picks in a row that Seattle has met with. I thought that was gonna be important this year.

    • Michael Hasslinger

Only 3 down LEO in the draft.

    • Sea Mode

Also a multi-sport guy. Played basketball too his whole life. Mom was 6-1, played power forward. Check.

  462. charlietheunicorn

RB DT WR all seem like targets still…. perhaps a slight lean on C as well.

  463. ZHawk

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B-X42afJsB6/?igshid=1gbboyoam3vrw

Was checking out Damien Lewis’ Instagram, and came across this. Note that he’s practicing snaps in the 4th and 5th clips..

    • Volume12

That’s something I was just gonna post.

      Is he a C?

      • Sea Mode

        We’ll find out soon.

        • ZHawk

Definitely something to keep an eye on. An interior oline of Iupati-Lewis-Fluker would be monstrous.

  464. Coleslaw

Theres still a bunch of OTs available. Adeniji, Bartch, Peart, Wanogho, A. Taylor, just to name a few

    • Brian Sanders

Really? 8th ranked offense and needs all over the front seven and you are thinking of OL?

      • Coleslaw

All we have is 33 or 34 year old Duane Brown, Shell, Ogbuehi and Chad wheeler. We should pick one of these ones, it’s a nice class.

      • Coleslaw

We just picked 2 front 7 players lol

  465. Greg Haugsven

Ravens with Dobbins, Queen, Madubuike and still have three picks left in the third. Watch out KC.

    • charlietheunicorn

KC is holding their own and might actually be slightly better this year with the offseason draft and other moves. Very elite offense…. and the defense is starting to reload.

    • dcd2

Both of those teams are killing it.

  466. Brian Sanders

I sure hope we have a nice plan (as usual) for UDFA, as this trading up for picks is something that doesn’t make sense to this fan who understands the crap shoot that is the NFL draft. Volume rules and we are giving volume away particularly when we could be stacking picks together in the middle rounds where there is talent at many positions!

    • dcd2

Tend to agree. They must have really liked Taylor though, and that’s a good thing. Whenever we trade up, we tend to hit.

      • Brian Sanders

I like trading up if we have the capital left to fall back on and I also like their history with that action as well.

  467. Volume12

The Baylor tape on Jordyn Brooks is super impressive. I’m trying to fund the OK St. game and TCU from ’18 where he makes some jaw dropping plays. Anyone know where to find those 2 games?

  468. STTBM

Bummed we missed out on Hamilton and Madubuike AND Okwara: I liked all those guys and they seemed to fit Seattle’s needs and preferences. Oh well, a 19th lineman must be pretty important. Hope Lewis turns out…

    • Hawktalker#1

That’s not completely fair, but I think you know that.

      • STTBM

How is anything I said not fair? They could have had any of those guys, or Zuniga, but waited to take a lineman, and its simply the truth that he’s now the 19th Olineman under contract. They can do what they like, but to me the Slime has been neglected.

        • STTBM

          Lol, D-Line, not slime!

        • dcd2

          Never neglect the SLIME! 🙂

    • Brian Sanders

We didn’t miss out, we GAVE it away trading up and giving away picks to apparently pick an OL that everyone loves because he’s a road grader with character. OL will be a tough place to break into this year with limited preseason/training camp and speed on the DL is crucial in this window!

  469. MaxC14

I am curious to what peoples issues have been with Field Gulls, or certain people on Seahawks twitter, this may have been explained before, and I was just curious as I have seen comments made about FG and certain Seahawks Twitter personas, and I know there has been some contention there. I would appreciate anyone chiming in.

    • Hawktalker#1

What is your interest in this?

      • Brian Sanders

        Hawktalker#1…..a true conspiracy theorist?

      • MaxC14

Just curious, don’t want to pry to deep though.

    • STTBM

From my perspective, Field gulls has crap writing and lazy analysis. Click bait “articles”. I pay no attention to Twitter…

    • Ishmael

Can’t speak for everyone, but to my mind FG went downhill in a big way when Danny Kelly left. It’s become a chippy, smug, one-track community. Although I’m sure they’d say the same about here.

Similarly, Seahawks Twitter in general has become dominated by self-styled analytics nerds who are more interested in playing fantasy cap manager than enjoying football.

  470. Sea Mode

Cleveland sent the No. 74 pick to New Orleans in exchange for the No. 88 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and the Saints’ 2021 third-rounder. The Browns also sent their 2020 seventh-round pick (244) to the Saints.

  471. Rob Staton

    Alex Mack could be available…

    • Greg Haugsven

The question is do we need another interior lineman?

    • CaptainJack

      Please no.

    • dcd2

Falcons Center? For our 20th OL?

    • Sea Mode

I don’t see it. They said the three they got were their 1,2,3 fits that they identified.

Mack is 34 and Finney is 28. Is Mack that much better than Finney? We could also just keep Britt if they wanted.

      • Cameron

Mack has been consistently a top 10 center. If he could keep it up for another 2-3 years, yes, that would be way better than Finney.

    • Cameron

I’m all for giving him Britt’s money.

      • Cameron

Oh geez, I didn’t realize he was already 34. Maybe somewhat less than Britt money…

    • STTBM

He won’t be cheap salary-wise. He likely costs more than Britt. And he’s not the player he once was. I can’t see Seattle getting him, but boy have I been wrong about their roster-building plans, so I obviously know nothing about what they might do…

  472. Greg Haugsven

Pick 133 and 148 might get us in the very end of round three if they wanted?

  473. Logan Lynch

Pete wants to play tough and fast on defense. He wants to run the ball. They drafted 2 explosive guys on defense and a mauling guard. This is on brand.

  474. Forty20

Lewis just told the Seattle press that he can play LG, RG and C in the conference call.

    • Greg Haugsven

I would imagine center would be last resort but the more positions the better. I wonder how this might affect Fluker?

  475. Bill Washington

Analysis – guards: who cares? Defense: we got a mongoose and a cobra snake. Two fastest guys after the QB in this draft. The tape doesn’t lie, and neither does Rob Staton. Forget the rankings, these two will eviscerate opponents backfields. Pitch a tent, Brooks and Taylor are setting up camp. There will be bloody bits of wool, 69r’ meat and redbird feathers all over the field 6 times a year. LLoyds of London insurance options for NFC west opponent QB’s just tripled, too late to protect them. The rest of the draft: let’s get some ace special-teamers. Really crazy guys like Joe Exotic, but 100 pounds heavier and without a limp who can who can deliver a ferocious hit. Time to make the other team’s offense cry again.

  476. Sea Mode

    Bye, bye, Zuniga. Jets.

Guess they didn’t get enough of risky Florida pass rushers…

    • CaptainJack

It’s funny because they took Jachai a year ago and he was a massive bust. Strange they’d take another Florida pass rusher Idk

  477. Volume12

There’s waaaay too many picks in between Seattle’s next pick. They have to be trying to get back in here. Your gonna miss out on too much talent.

    • Coleslaw

      Hope so.

      • Greg Haugsven

Couldnt agree more. Might have to use a 2021 pick?

        • Coleslaw

          Not sure

  478. Trevor

Still some good players on the board for the Hawks.

    Lawrence (DT / LSU)
    Moss ( RB / Utah)
    Davis (WR/ S Car)
    Fotu (DT/ Utah)
    Amid Robertson (CB/ LTech)

    • Greg Haugsven

Could Moss and Robertson fall to 133 and 144? Most likely no chance.

  479. CaptainJack

If Lewis sees the field next season and plays well… slam dunk pick. I’m not kidding.
But that’s contingent on cutting some dead weight. Time for fluker to hit the road I’m afraid.

    • Greg Haugsven

There will be fierce competition on the OLine. Coronavirus situation might save Fluker.

  480. Greg Haugsven

    Raiders just hoarding receivers

  481. Volume12

Raiders are loaded at WR! Ruggs, Tyrell Williams, Bryan Edwards, Lynn Bowden. Jesus!

    • Coleslaw

  482. Coleslaw

Oh man. Bowden and Edward’s to Vegas…

    • charlietheunicorn

Load up the WRs .. them Raiders going all out.

      • Coleslaw

        Just love to see it

      • Volume12

It makes sense. Draft for your division. Gotta try and keep up with the Chiefs by putting points on the board.

        • Coleslaw

They shouldn’t have a problem with that now lol. Especially with Josh Jacobs slowing the game down. They’re gonna be really good this year

          • charlietheunicorn

            Check the QB however…..

            • Coleslaw

              Lmao right?

              • charlietheunicorn

Maybe they take Eason….. take advantage of the WR speed down the field with his cannon arm

  483. Sea Mode

    Great pick for the Raiders.

3 WRs in first 3 rounds. Wow.

    • BobbyK

      Matt Millen is smiling.

  484. David Ashton

Great value for the Raiders with Bryan Edwards at 81!

  485. Volume12

Who was that DT from Wagner that Seattle met with? Any tape on him?

    • dcd2

      • Volume12

        Yes, thank you.

  486. Ashish

    Rob and Gang
Amik cb, is there chance to get him?

    • Hawktalker#1

The answer to that question is probably, is that CB need great enough to trade up and lose a couple more pics over?

Too bad too. He is one of the last remaining favorites of mine.

  487. Greg Haugsven

    • Sea Mode

      Nope. Pick is in.

    • Volume12

      OK. Nevermind.

  491. charlietheunicorn

Hawks will trade with the Bills in 2022 for Moss (Lynch 2.0), Bookit 😉

  492. Schism

It’s a shame they couldn’t hang onto 101, bunch of good RT options still available, along with Duvernay, Bryce Hall, Amik Robertson…

    • Hawktalker#1

101 would not have helped us. We don’t known it any longer.

  493. Hawktalker#1

And Moss was another favorite . . .

  494. Greg Haugsven

    Great pick for the Bills.

  495. CaptainJack

Sad end to day two. Round three was a sweet spot. wish we had just one more pick there . :/

    • Rob Staton

Still lots of talent left on the board.

  496. Sea Mode

Dugger, Uche, and Jennings? Getting young and versatile on D.

    • Greg Haugsven

They might have to win games 10-7

  497. Coleslaw

I think it’s more likely we trade up early tomorrow

    • Volume12

I think they wanted something here in this range, but that trade w/ GB fell through. That’s tough.

    • Rob Staton

      Could do.

But they don’t have a lot of picks.

      • Coleslaw

Yeah, I hope they still like their board enough to wait it out then have 3 picks at 133-149.

  498. Greg Haugsven

Bradlee Anae and Jonathon Greenard still out there.

    • Rob Staton

      Not twitchy enough.

  499. Greg Haugsven

    Bryce Hall maybe late fourth?

    • Sea Mode

Oooh, I think he goes today still. Too much production.

  500. Nicholas Jaeger

Rob, any RB options left that make sense for us?

    • Rob Staton

I like Anthony McFarland a lot.

      • Greg Haugsven

Doesnt he have a teammate that was pretty good more the size we like? Maybe I’m mistaken.

        • Volume12

          Leake?

  501. charlietheunicorn

    Raiders should take Eason….
    need a back-up QB to groom….
and one without a noodle arm at that

    • Big Mike

i could see him going to the stealers

  502. Schism

Surprised to see Tega Wanogho still on the board, I remember he was being talked about as a first rounder early in the process.

  503. Cameron

Looking at Amik Robertson, Trevis Gipson, Devin Duvernay, Leki Fotu, Hunter Bryant as early day 3 targets.

    • Cameron

With Duvernay gone, guess I’ll replace him with James Robinson.

  504. Sea Mode

Damien Lewis said he was playing as Seahawks on Madden the other day cause they’re his favorite team. He loves to run the ball.

    • Greg Haugsven

  505. pdway

who are the best remaining WR’s for us?

odds of us picking one tomorrow?

  506. charlietheunicorn

    JaMycal Hasty – RB Baylor
    Antonio Gibson – RB Memphis

2 guys with late round appeal imo

    • Cameron

Let’s just sign him and end this chirade.

  515. Kenny Sloth

    Yay, good picks, Seattle.

Thats a decent day 1 + 2 in my book. I didn’t love Taylor, but he ticks a ton of boxes and so do Lewis and Brooks.

Fun stuff cant wait for tomorrow

  516. chris

i heard the Damien lewis conference call. i love that dudes personality he asked every reporter how they were doing i thought that was awesome!

  517. Paul Cook

Who knows how it will turn out, but I feel a little better tonight about the draft.

  518. Hawktalker#1

Anyone tracking who the best guys left are?

    • Greg Haugsven

Yeah from ESPN. Fromm, Eason, Robertson, Perine, Trautman.

    • dcd2

      From below

      Spencer says:
      April 24, 2020 at 8:32 pm
Amik Robertson, Bryce Hall, Kindle Vildor, Prince Tega, Matt Peart, Ben Bartsch, Anthony McFarland, KJ Hill, Colin Johnson, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Rashard Lawrence, Leki Fotu… JOHN REID

      Lots of good players left

  519. Greg Haugsven

    Eason about out cold.

    • Paul Cook

I’m a total husky fan, but I think Eason would have been better served returning for his senior year and proving that he can lead and play this game on a consistent level.

  520. Rob Staton

    I did say Jacob Eason wasn’t a high pick…

(Matt Miller ‘reported’ he was going to go in the top-15 a few weeks ago)

    https://twitter.com/nfldraftscout/status/1232295614932824064

  521. Greg Haugsven

He should have stayed at UW.

    • Paul Cook

He never proved he was THE MAN behind the center, no matter his incredible arm talent.

  522. Spencer

Amik Robertson, Bryce Hall, Kindle Vildor, Prince Tega, Matt Peart, Ben Bartsch, Anthony McFarland, KJ Hill, Colin Johnson, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Rashard Lawrence, Leki Fotu…

    Lots of good players left

  523. Coleslaw

We do have a bunch of big DEs who could slide inside on 3rd downs. Maybe PCJS think theres only room for a couple run stuffers

    • Volume12

There’s still some left. Not sure how many by the time they puck tommorow, but that’s a position they always find in the bargain bin and get contributions from 95% of the time.

      • Coleslaw

Yup, I’m not worried about it at all honestly

  524. Producehawk

    Chiefs killing it

  525. Paul Cook

Eason is like the anti-Burrow…he hardly showed he had anything Burrow displayed as a leader and decision maker, yet he had the one thing Burrow would love to have…his natural arm talent.

  526. Matt

Ravens with an insanely awesome draft. Yikes

  527. Volume12

Shut the f**k up about that stupid dog!

The #Ravens 2020 QB & playmakers account for just $20M of combined cap.

    QB Lamar Jackson
    RB Mark Ingram
    RB JK Dobbins
    WR Marquise Brown
    WR Devin Duvernay
    WR Miles Boykin
    TE Nick Boyle

    • Coleslaw

      What about Mark Andrews?

      • Sea Mode

        +$1m

    • Greg Haugsven

I almost wish the NFL would have a seperate cap for the QB’s. It is just not fair how teams can load up while he is on a rookie contract.

      • Greg Haugsven

I know we benefitted but that was early. You might not see teams win without a rookie for a while.

    • dcd2

Mark Andrews is their TE and he’s on his rookie deal.

      They’ve had an amazing draft.

The tax man will come for them too though. Got to get it while you can. Franchise QB on a rookie deal is the cheat code.

  529. Greg Haugsven

You have to appreciate the job that Trey Wingo is doing. His teammates are letting him down now as they are tapping out…lol

    • Sea Mode

The commish needs to tap out…

  530. Coleslaw

If we want an OT this would be a good spot to trade up. They’re gonna start going. Might last to 133 but you’re probably not getting your guy.

  531. Michael Hasslinger

Tanner Muse at 100. Seattle trade looks great.

    • Greg Haugsven

I was hoping for Amik Robertson at 101.

  532. Greg Haugsven

Is there a chance it’s not KC vs Balitmore for the AFC title next year?

    • dcd2

If NE gets Cam or a solid QB, maybe. Otherwise, they clearly look like the class of the AFC.

  533. Hebegbs

Ravens have just killed the off season. First they steal Campbell. Then this draft? I like the Hawks draft but I think I’d trade it in a second for the Ravens draft. Guess a bit unfair since they have 5 picks to our 3. But wow. KC/Ravens AFC championship 2020 almost no doubt.

Will say, Rob listened to your interview finally with Lewis. What a great kid and a great interview. The interviews on Seahawks.com with Brooks and Taylor make me think we do have 3 solid humans as well as great football potential.

Boy is NE also killing this draft. KC with Mahomes, Hill and Clyde should be fun to watch for years. unstoppable…

  534. Producehawk

It is past Godells bed time

    • Greg Haugsven

He is fading like Eason. Standing up to sitting down to slouching.

      • Bosworth's barber

        He ate too many M&Ms

        • Sea Mode

Yeah, that jar was full at the start!

  535. Barry

    Smart value for the Chiefs

  536. Greg Haugsven

Still could get great value at 133 with Bryce Hall.

  537. Sea Mode

Had a feeling NE would grab 2 TEs. Thought it would be Hunter Bryant.

    • Walter

Clearly the league doesn’t think as highly of him.

      • CaptainJack

Short and slow tight ends aren’t really in demand

    • cha

Can Hunter slide all the way to 133?

      • CaptainJack

I think so. Could go undrafted.

        1. He’s short
        2. He’s slow
        3. He’s not a great route runner
        4. He has an extensive injury history
        5. He had a ton of drops

I wouldn’t touch him if I was a GM. Super overrated.

  538. Greg Haugsven

    There goes Highsmith.

  539. Sea Mode

Saints trade up as much as we trade down.

With the #Vikings trading out from No. 105, they have selected four players through the draft’s first two days … and have another 13 (!!) picks tomorrow.

    • CaptainJack

Feels like we’ve had so few picks the past few years

    • cha

They have to stack their roster will low-cost talent, they don’t have a choice.

2021 cap commitment: $172m to 33 contracted players. So about $40m of room to sign 20 players.

2022 cap commitment: $152m to 20 contracted players. So about $70m of room to sign 33 players.

A trade with the Packers fell through, but the Seahawks may be feeling like they caught a break.

Word in league circles Friday is that the Ravens would have taken Jordyn Brooks at No. 28.

    • Rob Staton

      Hi John

      • cha

What did you think of my picks today?

        • Sea Mode

      • dcd2

    • CHawk Talker Eric

I suspected as much last night.

      https://seahawksdraftblog.com/thoughts-on-the-jordyn-brooks-pick#comment-496460

What I’m saying is I think it’s possible SEA talked trade with GB to swap 27 for 30 but they weren’t willing to risk missing out on their guy for only a late R4 pick, especially with BAL waiting and (evidently) looking for a LB.

    • Jim

I don’t buy this at all. Heard the same things about Penny, Ifedi, Irvin, Carpenter, and all the other reaches.

  543. charlietheunicorn

    Take a breath
    Reset

    Round 4 … tomorrow.

Plenty of quality talent still available.
Seahawks do their best work in these later rounds 🙂

  544. CaptainJack

We need to try to stockpile picks somehow for next year. Start making trades. We need to add talent next year. This offseason isn’t good enough. Trade Britt, maybe K.J.

    • Coleslaw

If we add Clowney or Griffen and replace Al Woods with a couple vet run stuffers I think we can confidently say the DL is improved. Added a rangy SAM, and we could still go DT tomorrow and or CB.

I think the plan is to just bulk up the depth to the level of 2013. We need to add to the OTs, DTs, and a DE. Maybe a WR and RB. Other than that we’re stacked at every position.

3 centers, tons of guards, tons of TEs, WRs, LBs, Safeties, CBs.

    • Jim

We couldn’t get squat for either. One is ancient, the other broken, and both ain’t cheap.

  546. Paul Cook

To all fans from Husky nation…utterly weird year to not have a player chosen in the first three rounds.

    • Michael Hasslinger

      UW Football highly overrated

      • CaptainJack

Our little “comeback” was short lived

      • Paul Cook

No. Just a weird transition year. UW has put many players into the NFL in the top three rounds in recent years.

        • Michael Hasslinger

Last impact player from UW is Mark Brunnenlochs, Lincoln Kennedy. 1992.

          • Michael Hasslinger

            Mark Brunnell

          • Thomas Wells

Marcus Peters? Shaq Thompson? Budda Baker? Corey Littleton? Vita Vea? Desmond Trufant? And if you wanna go old school you forgot Lawyer Milloy and Corey Dillon.

        • CaptainJack

Most of the picks have been busts though

    • Volume12

Levi Onwuzurike should go early with a good year.

      • CaptainJack

        Meh on Levi

Here are the two guys to look at:
Joe Tryon at defensive end and Jaxson Kirkland at Tackle

        • Volume12

          He’s up next.

Tyron, yes. I feel the same way about Kirkland as you do about Levi.

      • Paul Cook

        Taylor Rapp
        Jeff King
        Vita Vea
        Byron Murphy
        Budda Baker
        Caleb McGeary

        Shaq Thompson
        Hauoli Kikaha
        Bishop Sankey
        Austin Sefarian Jenkins
        Desmond Trufant

All top picks in the NFL in recent years.

  547. CaptainJack

Glad to see no teams bought into Eason. Personally I feel very bitter about him. Thought he was a stud never put in any work. Doesn’t deserve to be drafted day two much less day one. The hype was idiotic.

    • Albert Butler

      But the arm is real.

Watch the Patriots take him in the 6th round.

      • BigSmooth13

Zero pocket awareness. Zero touch. Almost zero mobility. All he can do is throw the ball hard and fast. He won’t make it in this league.

  548. Volume12

    James Proche still out there.

    • Sea Mode

What a great interview with Damien Lewis. How can you not root for him. Humble and appreciative. Stellar work Rob.

  550. Michael Hasslinger

I love this draft. BAMF Throughout. Seattle is better after these three rounds. Clowney, come get your ring.

  551. Sea Mode

    Press Conference is live

  552. Volume12

There’s talent there. It’ll fall off after the 4th IMO.

Alton Robinson, Curtis Weaver, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Gandy-Golden too.

    • Volume12

Oops. Was supposed to be in response to Sea Mode.

    • Sea Mode

Yup. I had to work finding those 20 or so names.

Then the small schoolers like Madre Harper or my guy Isaiah Rodgers and the lesser-known wave of the big schools. I really think the Hawks might like K’Von Wallace.

  553. Sea Mode

Taylor was in consideration last night alongside Brooks. With Damien too, it was less about the prospect evaluation and more just a matter of navigating around to where we needed to be to acquire each player.

Really effective in his 3rd down rush.

Damien Lewis coming in to compete at RG.

    • cha

PC on Taylor: “LEO in same mold of Clark and Clemons. Height weight speed power. Absolute in the pocket guy for us. Easy evaluation.”

      • CaptainJack

        Really the perfect pick.

      • cha

PC on Lewis competing with Fluker: “Yes, day one. Ready to play day one.” JS: “He’s a grown man.”

    • cha

PC on Taylor against the run: “Everything about him fits us right.”

    • Sea Mode

We had an advantage in that we were one of the only teams who were able to get him in for a visit, medical.

He left the building saying he really hoped this worked out.

      • Sea Mode

JS: “Who knows if he’s healthy this year where we’re talking about drafting him.”

He also said they only got 2-3 VMAC visits before it shut down.

    • cha

JS on Taylor visit: “Handled himself very well, excited to be here. Very impressive young man. With an edge. Mad that he didn’t have a better season.”

    • cha

JS on Taylor trade up: “We were trying to go up pretty high to get him. We considered taking him last night.”

    • Sea Mode

They were trying to move up from pretty much the start of the day for Darrell.

    • cha

PC on is Taylor raw: “Played against the best. Really physical, powerful guy. Consistent, coaches loved him, culture-setter. Entire staff loved the guy. Compete from day 1 for playing time. 2 full years of time playing plenty of time.”

    • cha

PC on Lewis competing with Fluker: “Yes, day one. Ready to play day one.” JS: “He’s a grown man.”

      • Sea Mode

“Russ wants grown men in front of him.” That’s been our philosophy in both the draft and FA on the OL.

    • cha

PC on OL competition for Lewis: “LSU very high tech program. Very cutting edge, pass protection wise. Eddie raved about his work ethic and study ethic and overall smarts. All of that will come into play. Going to have to be very coordinated to make offseason virtual programs advantageous.”

  554. CaptainJack

I just learned that the saints have no day three picks. Dear lord

    • Sea Mode

And the Vikings have 13 tomorrow…

      • CaptainJack

They also lost their entire team and are in cap hell

Overall ravens titans and chiefs are the biggest winners of the draft. All three teams added great additions to already stacked rosters

      • Sea Mode

Actually, JS said (besides that he’s jealous) that it’s a unique strategy they’ve employed this year. Basically because UDFA is going to be so difficult, they are just basically using up their UDFA pool in the draft itself to get the guys they want.

  555. J

John Hightower, Donovan Peoples Jones, Joe Reed still out there at WR.

  556. CaptainJack

Niners didn’t pick today and they don’t pick again until round five.

    Nice 🙂

    • Sea Mode

Small consolation after what they did yesterday.

  557. Volume12

I love in the thread above about the debate of Udub players. Ya’ll forgot about one of the best C’s of the last 20 years in Olin Kreutz?

    • Thomas Wells

Good call, I whiffed on that one for sure

    • Thomas Wells

      Forgot Tank Johnson too

  558. Scot04

I love how we get graded down for trading up for Taylor. Kiper Funny sometimes.
Admittedly one of the players they had rated higher was Zuniga. Key is who Seahawks liked better. I guess we got our answer.
I like our 3. Looking forward to tomorrow.

  559. Sea Mode

So Rob (I imagine the article’s coming), but if we sign Clowney or Griffen, together with Taylor at LEO, add a run stuffing DT tomorrow or after roster cutdowns, having added solid depth in Irvin and Mayowa, would you say that’s a big step towards getting the pass rush back on track?

Add to that the improvement on team speed with Brooks and the trade for Dunbar, together with a couple 2nd year players taking a step forward, and I’d say I have reason to hope.

They could still add someone like Amik Robertson, K’Von Wallace, Isaiah Rodgers, Kenny Robinson tomorrow to compete at nickel/S too.

    • DC

I’d say yes to that question. We’re moving in a competitive direction.

  560. Sea Mode

Wow, guys. 1300+ comments! I’d call today a great success. Sounds like they really got the guys they wanted, and that’s always the best scenario in my book, not when you settle for one of the fallback options.

    Catch you all early tomorrow!

    • Sea Mode

One last peep: I have a feeling that Damien Lewis is going to love DJ Fluker, even thought they’ll be competing against each other, of course. Just seem like similar straight shooter, lay it all out on the line, love football to death personalities.

  561. DC

Checking in for the 1st time today. I’m happy with what they’ve done. These guys can all be difference makers. Excited for tomorrow too!

  562. DC

Also gotta hand it to the Seahawks for always keeping us guessing (In the 1st round anyway). They have their own board.

    • Rob Staton

Didn’t keep us guessing on day two.

Let’s not overreact to one R1 pick they clearly liked the value of.

  563. Paul Cook

Yeah, off to bed now. Got that dinner cooked.

A little strange that we didn’t get ONE of those receivers in the first three rounds to give RW a plethora of threats to throw to. Or that we didn’t get one of the top RB’s, even though I had originally not liked the idea.

But we did get a DE, a tackling machine, and some young robust on the OL. I mostly like Lewis from what I’ve heard from Rob and others around here. I really like Brooks on tape. And I love this Taylor guy. He’s got that real basic lower the shoulder and speed bend/rush around the tackle thing. Good arms for grabbing on too. If he adds to his pass rushing arsenal, who knows? He may be a longer term answer in that department.

Now let’s see if we can hit the lottery on someone tomorrow. They’ve been pretty good at that over the years.

Best to all. It was fun. 🙂

  564. DougM

I just watched 2 games on Taylor against Florida and Georgia. He looked easily handled, no where close to an 18% win percentage. Which teams did he get those pressures on? If he is getting those pressures against non NFL caliber tackles, then how good is he really?

  565. D-OZ

Did you really watch the Georgia game? I thought thought he had a pretty good game against a NFL caliber O-line. Get some rest Doug… 🙂

  566. RWIII

    Agree with D-OZ.
