Rob Staton
Are they just gonna add volume picks on either side of the lines the rest of the way?
What they need is beef. A lot of big guys left in the middle rounds.

Good shout. Trade chart value adds up perfectly, and they don’t have a R5 pick.
All depends on whether the Seahawks see a player they want to move up for.
cards don’t need picks right now, they need players
but looking more carefully, they could use picks too. Previous post retracted.
You always need more picks if you’re a first year GM with a bit of a leash to think long-term.
Why Ade Ade still available? Crushed senior bowl – crazy!
Damn. Really wanted Dorian Williams.
Would have been nice. Really good in coverage too. PFF loved him.
SF can really kick us in the groin w their last 3 picks in the 3rd
Nice reverse jinx
Lol…..
Yes that Kicker from Michigan really hurt us.
It’s absolutely clear to me that starting last off-season John Schneider is now in control of the draft. I love what they’ve been doing the last two drafts on the high effort/talented/character guys.
I hate there’s no Richardson but if I was the GM we wouldn’t have him either. I wouldn’t have traded up so what can you do than do the best with the hand you’re dealt?
Love our RB room now. I, for one, love having a great 1-2 punch. No problem with that investment one single bit.
LOVE the fact they traded for a 3rd round pick NEXT year. Build through the damn draft and always try to go into drafts the following year with more picks than you should. That’s common sense but something too many are dumb at (like when Pete was in full control)
definitely a rebuilding future oriented move. Watching the rest of the 3r tick away is going to be tough, the delayed gratification of a waiting year to get the extra third is what it is.
I’m hoping they trade the 108 from Denver with one of our 5th rounders to come back in at the end of this round and get one of the guys we want. Basically convert a 5th this year for a 3rd next year.
like the thought, needs a partner
Fully agreed, Bobby!!!
I’m certainly one of those who’s wanted a Center prospect. I’m SOOO tired of seeing our offensive line getting beaten up by good defenses, it’s just emotionally draining.
No, I was NOT hankering for John Michael Schmitz — I simply don’t know enough about these prospects to have an opinion. But Robbie has it right… the upset about missing out on a star center while getting a wide receiver poor enough that we drafted one this year as an attempt to upgrade.
But certainly there’ll be options. Hope springs eternal, and all.
Agree it stings but I think the logic is this:
If you scout guys up and they don’t represent an obvious upgrade over Evan Hall, why spend a pick on one? Similar analysis at DT– you have to see a pathway for your draft pick to be at least marginally better than guys available for the vet him.
On the other hand, you’re not going to get an RB in free agency with juice like Charbonnet. Just doesn’t exist.
I don’t love it but I get it. You’re looking for separation, especially with your early picks.
What fucking phenomenal draft.
Think they wanted Juice Scruggs or were they always trading down?
They like bowl performers
I think they just don’t value that position as much as we think. But they do need to address it.
Having been to the Senior Bowl in person two years in a row, I thought that Keeanu Benton was good in all the ways that Trevor Penning was bad. There was a lot of fight in both of them, but Benton could control it. I thought he played with violence.
So, I disagree a little bit with Rob, but not much.
Re: Center
We signed Evan Brown to a 1 yr deal as insurance. Took a solid look at the top prospects this year and passed. I trust their evaluations.
Van Pran is there next year too unless they trade the farm for a top pick for QB. I’m happier to have Hall and Charbonet over a center.
It aint over yet, Wypler is still on the board, maybe they like Olu olu? Ade ade and Mojo on the boar as well.
the big drop is Skinner still on the board, the pec thing must be an issue.
For sure, no doubt they draft IOL 2x tomorrow, but not for Day 1 starter IMO
some DL :Ade, Mojo, Cameron … maybe Wypler with 108 and on of those with 123. but tthey will start going away fast
still want a safety.
no way the 49ers would have traded back to grab the kicker later.
9ers nation : “a lot of teams were planning to take the kicker and they had to strike”
Siaka Ika is gone
To those who hate the trade down:
https://twitter.com/SethWalder/status/1652137128602619905?s=20
“This is a brutal trade by the Broncos and a heist for the Seahawks.
The difference between 83 and 108 is worth roughly a sixth-round pick. To get a future third is incredible for Seattle — not just by our pick valuations but relative to other trades tonight.”
Yes
Walker and Charbonnet, that’s one strong drink
Add Chris Rodriguez in 4th, plz.
Or Israel..
serious up-grade to the 3rd down back position. Catch it out of the backfield or run over a pass def set.
Would love an RB double dip in this draft- go get that ST guy
Just a little local chatter here in Flora-Bama.
After the spring game up in Huntsville the word is that Nick Saban isn’t real happy with his quarterbacks. So this might be why they are trying to get TVD to transfer.
They already got the ND Qb, Burcher, to transfer. No more TVD.
If we get him somehow in next year’s draft then all will be well. Robbie mentioned him in last night’s stream and I got the little bit of hope for the whole plan coming together that I needed.
I am also hearing they are amazed by a true freshman running back.
What am I missing about Ade Ade? Medical? Hope we are able to get him tomorrow. Maybe trade to top of R4?
at 108 they are in the top of the 4th. On the clock at the 30th minute.
Tomorrows picks go very, very quickly. They make todays seem like a turtle race.
And trades to the top of the 4th happen a lot.
Just got out of stats quiz section….
WOW. I think John Schneider is the Bronco FO’s daddy. Pilfered them again 😂
It’s 52 to 108 that we had to wait.
As it stands right now, I am loving the look of our RB, WR, and TE rooms on O. I feel confident about our OL (I would like some further investment there though). I love our EDGE and DB rooms. I am content with our LB room. Really the only place I where I think we need more juice is IDL.
They’ll start loading up on depth and developmental prospects tomorrow. Hopefully a few are breakout stars that earn starter positions.
Ade Ade would be awfully nice with that 1st 4th Rounder. Hell, he was a guy that I would have been happy with in the 20s!
It’s 52 to 108 that we had to wait.
PC/JS presser started 5 min ago:

I love Hugh Millen coming out guns ablazin’ with the Jalen Carter/Malik McDowell question.
Could we have traded down to the 4th to give Schneider time to field trade offers for Jamal to free up cap? Skinner would be nice in the 4th…
That would be my favorite move of the draft!
If we can come away with Wypler and Ade Ade somehow tomorrow then I am in love with this draft. Took talent early at positions that, although not a huge need, can contribute right away. Some of my favourite guys as well, and they can still address needs with guys we thought we’d have to take way earlier.
4th: Zavala G
4th: Ade Ade DT
4th (Trade Up): Izzy Abinakanda RB
5th: Keandre Coburn NT
This works!!
I’m wondering if Hutchinson didn’t like any of the centers. Wypler and Ulu Ulu are still there. I hope they get one even if it just for depth.
I think Zavala is a starter.
I would love to start tomorrow with Ade Ade and add NT Jerrod Clark later. Pete and John mentioned 6 more picks tomorrow. But Pete also said it was clear “because of the numbers” that they were working on stuff and the interior of the defensive line will look different.
There was a rumor yesterday about Seattle trading with the Commanders. Not sure that would work. But it did remind me of John talking on his final radio show about being ready for post-draft salary cap cuts. I wonder if they feel proven veterans are a better way to fill defensive line needs than draft and develop.
Does Steve Hutchinson like anybody?
I mean Robbie Tobeck is one of the funniest people on planet Earth.
I don’t understand how a player with Ade Ade’s physical profile could last this long. The tape must be truly unimpressive.
HOw did Abe Lucas fall? I think it comes down to the schools. Nobody respects Washington State and Northwestern.
If you’re good enough it doesn’t matter what school you went to.
Northwestern has had multiple first rounders over the past couple years.
I completely agree. You got a better explanation?
Actually JS specifically mentioned Ade Ade being available at the end of the 3rd as one of the big surprises today. I think he is definitely is on their radar.
JS might have insisted that Denver pay the iron price for our 3rd rounder just because the guy he wanted to draft was there waiting.
He did? Link?
It was their post draft press conference tonight. Almost at the end. I just heard it on the radio less than an hour ago so it should be online.
Really ordinary tape and he’s short. Good players fall all the time too, every chance he lands in the right spot, has a good year, and everyone is handwringing about why he didn’t get taken earlier.
So basically, we don’t draft for need at all. You just get DUDES at whatever position is available, who are likely to be at least 4-year contributors. Which means that next year, you won’t have to chase as many free agents to fill holes. And then the next year, you keep drafting DUDES. And then there is even less pressure to spend big money on mediocre fillers. And then in 4 years if you have too many DUDES to pay, you try to flip them for more picks but it’s ok because you have so many DUDES.
During the dominant years for Seattle, even preseason was fun to watch. So deep at every position, people stepping up after injuries or coming out of nowhere to fill areas of need. Those were the fun years. Lets get back to that, just add DUDES.
Lots of talent left to fill positions with immediate depth needs (G, DT, RB, TE?)
One in the chamber baby!
Ade Ade falling to the 4th reminds me of Everton Griffin falling to the Fourth. I could see the same success as Griffin had for Ade.
Everson*
I like how this draft is going. We’ll get another B- from NFL.com but it’s not like we can’t live with it. I particularly like the balance between O and D picks. I don’t mind us getting skill players for the O first, we’ve got enough Day 3 picks to get us some solid guy to push the line. With Walker, Charbonnet, DK, Tyler, Njigba and the TE group we’re gonna be very difficult to predict, so I expect high scoring games.
Is it just me or we robbed the Broncos with the trade?
We robbed them
Don’t know how we would find space on the DLine for a player who only gets 80 sacks over 11 years! Might be tough. I know it’s different but they were both the amazing physical specimen of their respective class.
I was going through some of Rob’s posts on what to expect from the draft, and came across the following quote which rings so clearly now. They are focusing on BAMFS and leaders….the last Super Bowl team was full of alphas across the board…going back to that sounds good! Quoted text next:
“The source suggested Seattle was seeking the ‘next wave’ of leadership. That the way they drafted a year ago, plus the decision to bring back Bobby Wagner and Jarran Reed, had been a concerted effort to create a particular dynamic in the locker room.
It’s felt that the pick at #5 will need to add to that. It’ll need to be someone who can come in and fit into that culture. The description used was ‘a fire-starter’ — someone with the grit, the energy and the tone-setting qualities that can help elevate this team. The attitude has to match the talent.”
New article up:

This isn’t the draft that I expected. That said, I think it’s been a great draft so far. I love the theme of high character guys, with an edge on defense and play making on offense. Excited to see what tomorrow brings.
Rob – I thought you crushed it this year in the research leading up to the draft and I’ve been even more impressed with your measured analysis of the draft picks. In an era of overreactions, hot takes and hyperbole, it’s been refreshing to follow the Seahawks draft on your site and observe your open minded perspective on how the Seahawks are improving the roster.
I am following the New Orleans Saints for my Mom and so that I can torment my family in New Orleans.
How well are the Seahawks doing? Let’s do a little comparison.
Saints draft:
1(29) DT Bryan Bresee (Meh.)
2(40) EDGE Isiah Foskey (saw him in person get owned at the Senior Bowl.)
3(71) RB Kendre Miller (Don’t love him. Don’t hate him. TCU had a great year. NOT LISTED on Rob’s horizontal board. Not excited.)
How in the Hell, do they not take Will Levis?
I had Kendre Miller listed at the top of round three
I missed that, sorry.
