Welcome to this year’s coverage of the NFL Scouting Combine. Every day I will be updating this thread with forty times and other data. I will then end the day with a review article and a live stream. I hope you will join me for all four days — it’s a big commitment and I’d love for you all to be involved.

I wanted to start today with a couple of notes…

— Tom Pelissero said on Rich Eisen’s show today that it won’t be a surprise if Maxx Crosby is traded in the next 7-10 days. Hold on to your hats:

— Regulars will know I am a huge Caleb Banks fan. Today he jumped a 32 inch vertical and a 9-6 broad at 6-6, 327lbs with 10 7/8 hands and 35-inch arms. He has an 85 3/4 inch wing span. There are simply not many humans like this. You have to draft him early in this class. This is the kind of player you draft early.

— On the other hand, Rueben Bain — who is apparently not testing today — is 6-2, 263lbs with 30 7/8 inch arms and 9 1/8 inch hands. I keep saying this — it’s a projection league. Tell me which players are playing at a top level with this makeup? And why isn’t he working out? He has to be an athlete to make up for these numbers. I’ve said all along, the media is getting it wrong with Bain. The league has to be concerned about this.

— On the same note, Casius Howell — consistently mocked in round one by some — has 30 1/4 inch arms on a 6-2, 253lbs frame. Again, how many top players in the league measure like this rushing the edge?

— Lee Hunter (DT, Texas Tech) jumped a 21.5 inch vertical and an 8-4 broad jump. Are you kidding me? And people are saying round one? No chance.

— I don’t know what happened to the measurements at the Senior Bowl but Gabe Jacas’ hands have grown to 10-inches and he’s now hitting 33-inch arms. That’s much better for him. He should run well too.
